The Bride and Groom had to handle a lot of people coming internationally and I think the Hotel and it's staff made things go very smoothly. The condo was clean, comfortable, a great view. We ate downstairs every morning and the staff, food and drinks were great. Make sure to ask for an espresso if you like strong coffee. Otherwise you receive "american coffee" which is pretty weak and bland. I'm hispanic and we are not known for our breads. So, stick to eggs, bacon... the Chillaques is perfect. ... Read more

We spent 9 days at El Taj Unit #320 with another couple. It took us about 45 minutes to get there from the Cancun Airport with our rental car. Right away, during check-in, we were very impressed with the courteous and professional staff. Our unit was beautiful, 2 large bedrooms, one with a view of the ocean, the other with a view across the street overlooking the pool. It had a spacious living room and modern kitchen. Our favorite place was the rooftop deck. We loved lounging up there, en... Read more

I still love all the people who work there and the rooms are great, the breakfast in the morning included is excellent. It's the Beach, it's going away, eroding, and ruining the experience, plus the onslaught of kelp daily. We had to go down to the Hyatt to enjoy the beach or go to Tulum to enjoy the beach. Not what we have done the last 2 years but this is a huge problem and no one really seems to be addressing this!

The restaurant on the beach is staffed with warm, caring people, who remember you and look out for you. They remember what you like, and provide excellent service. I like to be under an umbrella while on the beach, and they checked on me regularly to make sure that when the sun moved, they were ready to move the umbrella! I've been there twice and intend to continue going!

We stayed at a penthouse a couple of weeks ago. The Penthouse itself it's BEAUTIFUL, thought the hot tub (on the terrace) was not working (it seems it has NOT worked for a while). They don't stock your toiletries daily so make sure you take with you everything you need for as long as you're gonna be there. If you're close-phobic make sure you don't take the elevator even if it's only a three floor building, EXTREMELY small & VERY old. One of day while we stayed there the elevator was not working... It hard to beat the service I get at St Regis or a Ritz Carlton but I think it's fair to say I found it at El TAJ! The incredible personal service even when I am demanding, a bit pushy...well ok quite pushy, giving specific requests even before I arrive. I deserved a red star altert to look out for me when I walk in the door. I received the most grace and attention to my needs and super promptness. They are true professionals with superior client care. Brenda Pennington

Besides the room accommodations (which are simply wonderful) the cleanliness of the entire condo/hotel always amazes me. Greeted by friendly staff at the front desk it gets better and better. Part of the Condo hotel group El Taj offers large condos with bedroom, livingroom and kitchen and most units have an outdoor private area for you to sit outside of your condo. Bedrooms were a good size as we're the shower rooms. Kitchen had all you needed and the large fridges on both levels were handy for wine, beer and stuff to BBQ. I want to give a thank you to Isidro, Rudy, Jorge Luis and Erik. The icing on the cake was how our room needs were attended to by Patricia Su, we couldn't have asked to be better taken care of. Love the amazing view from the rooftop but the only negative thing is that the hotel needs to do something more about keeping other guests from using the rooftop that is for our room. My wife and I visit PDC once a year. We've always stayed at one of the mega resorts-all inclusive. We decided to try something different this time and stayed at El Taj. We are so glad we did. The place is amazing. The rooms are super roomy, super clean, and have everything you could possibly need. The staff is amazing. The grounds are beautiful. We ate out on the beach most mornings (Indigo beach cafe) and a few afternoons. Food was terrific and priced very fair and a huge selection. This will d... Read more

Our stay at El Taj (we rented 4 condos to host family members for our son's destination wedding nearby, but many more friends and family booked El Taj condos for themselves) was extraordinary in every way. Not only did the spectacular property more than live up to its online representation, its all-around beauty can probably never be adequately represented because of the fine attention to detail and enthusiastic responsiveness of its stellar staff. Never have I felt so 'at home away from home', ... Read more

I found this condo/hotel through the Home Away website which is similar to like Air B&B. I worked with some travel agents to book two units at El Taj whom we're extremely helpful and great to work with. The experience we had at this condo was unbelievable from the moment we got there until the moment we left. Amazing front desk staff, very organized with smooth check in process. The condos itself we're beautiful, clean and very well equipped. The cleaning service was great. The grounds at the ho... Read more

Great hotel. The service was amazing, the food was very good and the hotel is located in a good location, near everything. I will say that the hotel's pool looks very attractive in the photos on the internet but it is very small and not very fun to be at. another thing is that it seems that the hotel has a private beach but actually the shore at the hotel is reserved for fishing boats and is not relevant for going in the water.

Excellent ocean front condo with huge rooms and balcony. Great location with all the nightlife and restaurants within 3 blocks. Quant location a block away from crowds but feels farther. Nice beach bar and restaurant.

We found this hotel as a last minute booking and got it at a steal. We were 2 couples traveling and rented an ocean front 3 bdrm the day before arrival. The condo was spacious and very clean. The views are great. The location is a 3 minute walk to the infamous 5th ave. The only negative is that the beach is not ideal. There are a few boats docked right where you would want to swim. The chairs are lined up one on top of the other and it doesn't seem like they have enough to accommodate all their ... Read more

Cannot fault this place at all and will definitely come back! We had an apartment with a rooftop terrace and hot tub and it was just amazing! We ate out some days but as the terrace had a BBQ etc we also had food and drinks on the terrace, music, hot tub, it was so relaxing. Apartment was really modern, clean, tidy etc. Hotel position also brill, right by the beach and 2 streets back from the main 5th ave street in Playa. Discounts from various restaurants, free passes to the gym - we had the ... Read more

Rented Beachside 312 for a girlfriends getaway. We had a fantastic 2 bedroom accommodation with modern amenities that was immaculate. The bonus was a rooftop terrace with ocean views, hot tub, BBQ and ample seating for friends to gather as some of our party were staying over at Playa Palms next door. The staff were fantastic and strived to make our trip flawless. Minor issues we had were immediately addressed. Ernesto was a standout with getting us settled in and oriented to the resort. I paid extra for an ocean view room. There is not ocean view. Internet is very slow. If you want to go to the beach, you must walk 20 minutes to Sr Frog beach. This is not an hotel, this are apartments. I feel cheated. They don't offer you even a single cup of coffee. For the same price go to Hyatt or any other real hotel in Playa del Carmen.

We could not have been happier with this place. The staff was fantastic and room 341 and 342 were great. We found out when we arrived that due to previous storms and vary high tide the beach had been all but washed away but what was left was great. being set at Indigo Beach Club which in its self was fantastic. But back to El Taj the location was the best we have experienced with everything right there, 5th street with all the bars and restaurants and shopping it was a vary relaxing week for ... Read more

El Taj is by far the greatest value for accommodations in Playa. Their website shows each room and it's amenities. Most (if not all) have a full, state of the art kitchen allowing you to save on meals. Walk over 1-2 blocks away from the tourist area (I cannot recall the name of the street but it's the only way to go. Walk the other way and you're in the ocean!) and you'll find markets and the best restaurants in Playa. These restaurants are where the locals eat so if ambience is what your'e... Read more

This place was great - it had a pool on the ocean, and the rooms had beautiful views. Some even had their own hot tubs! We went with a group of friends and had a 3bd apt with a shared living room/kitchen. You can walk 5-10 min to the main street of Playa which is great. We also went scuba diving in Cozumel which was absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommend this place - luxury apt vacation living!

El Taj condos are gorgeous, we could not believe how luxurious they are. The staff is wonderful, and the concierge, especially Marisol, are extremely helpful. We will definitely return again, thank you for everything!!

Not a luxury hotel, but overall a nice place to stay close to the sea. The room is modern and spacious. Only one problem, the shower was not very convenient to use since I have to hold it by hand. Love the design of the jacuzzi. The pool was small but well designed. Breakfast in Indigo Veach Club was good, enjoyed a lot of fresh fruit.

Sold us an ocen view and gave us one with a completely obstructed view. Couldn't see anything unless you stood on the table. Granted, before all the beach erosion and need to put heavy potted foliage to barrier the room and hotel outside dining area, I bet it did have a great ocean view. But it now has NO view! And of course the had no other rooms available. Stop selling it as room with a sea view and people will not start off their vacation feeling taken advantage of and deceived. Such an... Read more

I gave the El Taj only 3 stars not based on the accommodations (which are lovely), but mainly due to the fact that the food is NOT very good, the front desk manager and desk attendants are not personable or helpful and the beach has pretty much been eroded away. Understand the beach erosion is of out of their control, although Cancun has been adding sand to their eroding beaches for years. The food at all of their outlets and the professionalism or lack there of at the front desk are all area... Read more

This is a mid size hotel right on the beach. Unfortunately, even due to beach erosion, which is no fault of the hotel, you cannot get in the water because of the fishing boats anchored to the beach. You have to beach somewhere else if you want to go in the water. This hotel has arrangements with other hotels to use their facilities but you must travel and then meet a food/drink minimum. Lots of stair climbing as there are not elevators on the room we had (315). Staff was great especially ou... Read more
