I loved Mahekal. All of the people working there were so caring and attentive. The service was great. My family and I usually ventured outside of the resort for dinner, but the lunch food at the resort was good (tacos, guac, French fries, etc). The breakfast was also delicious, one of my favorites being the omelette bar. I was traveling with two other people and we were originally put in a room with one king bed (tight squeeze), but Mahekal moved us into a room with two double beds the next day,... Read more

Were there in May, got a beautiful beach front Palapa #8,faced the beach directly, furnished with a king bed a sofa and refrigerator. We had a large front porch with, 2 lounge chairs and a table with chairs. We loved to sit there and watch the sea. The hotel has been newly renervatedand now has 4 pools, a nice spa two wonderful restaurants and two hammocks. The staff was great as usual and entertainment superb.

This beach resort was very disappointing, especially the service - it seemed like the staff was unhappy - they were rude, treated guests like it was a hassle for them and for the price they should be treating you like VIP's but no - the front desk manager even rolled his eyes at another couple that were arguing with him - not the service expected. The rooms were outdated and the food just ok- make sure you check your bill each morning, we found that they added many charges on that we did not eve... Read more

I had my wedding at the Mahekal on May 14th, and am basking in the glow of many wonderful memories in a beautiful place. The Mahekal was a beautiful location for the wedding of 50 guests. Our ceremony was held on the beach at the north end of the resort. We had our cocktail hour at the Las Olas pool deck and our dinner reception and dance party in the Las Olas restaurant. Las Olas Restaurant is an open air restaurant with ocean and pool views. I couldn‚??t have asked for a more perfect or... Read more

I had my wedding at Mahekal Beach Resort and it was AMAZING! Everyone had such a great time, they turned my wedding into a dream. The food, cleanliness, and especially the service was great. I highly recommend it this hotel. And if you are thinking of having your wedding in Playa del Carmen I wouldn't think twice to have it here. Karla, our point person for the wedding was great. There is no need to check out any other resorts! The Mahekal was just like it's name...Magical!! Located right on the ocean with a private beach, we enjoyed soothing ocean breezes at night and jungle birds at dawn, creating a tropical ambience that is truly a vacation! The two of us had everything that paradise had to offer thanks to Rogelio, Florentino and Oswaldo! Rogelio greeted us every morning with his happy face and waited on us graciously for breakfast and dinner. Florentino made sure we ... Read more

This resort is in a perfect location in Playa. At the north end of busy 5th avenue, close to all the action if you want it, but it offers a very relaxed and beautifully landscaped setting right on the beach. We had a garden room in the center of resort, that was nicely decorated with a very comfortable king size bed. The breakfast buffet was great at Las Olas overlooking a grand pool and the sea every morning. The other two restaurants Fuego and Cocina were equally as good for dinner. T... Read more

Mahekal is perfection! We stayed for 6 nights in a Garden View Palapa and it was an incredible experience. There was enough to do on the resort that you wouldn't have to (or want to) leave, but it's also a quick walk to 5th avenue and at a great spot if you wanted to visit Cozumel or Tulum for the day. The room was clean and quiet and housekeeping did a great job of making sure we had enough bottled water for our stay. The resort is right on the beach and the grounds are beautiful and very wel... We have traveled all over the world to some of the best branded and non branded resorts. Mahekal is by far the best Mexican beach resort. We enjoyed every single thing of the resort. Service, food, room, beach, activities. We did it all. So peacefully and so close to 5ta Avenida. Thanks Mahekal! Hasta pronto!

The beach is gorgeous, the grounds are immaculate, the food is delicious, the massages are a slice of heaven, the staff is friendly and attentive, the rooms are clean and comfortable and it could not be more relaxing. Food at the restaurants was delicious. We even had free wifi that worked perfectly and fast. We really enjoyed our stay here and I will definitely consider staying here again if we go back to Playa del Carmen. Thank you so much Mahekal staff!

This was my first girl's trip with my daughter (a 2 year old). Since we arrived at the airport in Cancun, we were greeted by a staff member from Mahekal, kind and courteous. Once we arrived at the Resort, a Front Desk agent took care of us nicely and efficiently. Our Room was AMAZING, and specially the location, super close to the beach and next to our favorite pool! Our first trip to Playa, will not be our last. We loved this resort, and I am a staunch VRBO advocate. I prefer the private living situation of a great home rental over anything with the word resort in it. Mahekal Beach Resort is the exception. While is it large and accommodating on every level, it has a personal feeling to it, a quiet, relaxed private feeling. I was never overwhelmed with getting a seat at one of three pools, the beach, the bar, the restaurants, etc. The service was personal a... Read more

Although a group of 10 is usually difficult to accomodate in either one sitting, or in a group setting, the Staff at Mahekal did an excellant job in making sure all of us were together, if not close by in accomodations. We were extremely well cared for, and we all had a wonderful experience at the Resort. We would definately make this a trip again. Friendly staff, very clean grounds, beautiful beach, nice pools, good food and bars. We stayed in the ocean view palapa. Nice room but a bit small for 4 people. It had dlb. Hammocks on patio deck. Did not care for the bathroom door, we had to hang a towel over the door for privacy. Very close to 5 th ave for lots of food and shopping. Did not like beach being net to the public access and other properties playing super load music till 3 am.

The resort is situated right on the beach about 40 minutes South from Cancun Airport (CUN) - inexpensive shuttle service is available. The service, food and overall experience are flawless and the security is very tight. The layout is very similar to a sprawling campus with restaurants, pools and bars sprinkled throughout. My suggestion would be to pay extra for the "experience" package which makes your stay all-inclusive incl. two meals a day and alcohol 50% off normal price.

The grounds and gardens were beautiful and charming. We spent six days relaxing on the beach and pool. The concierge arranged transportation for a day outing to the Mayan ruins at Coba and the Grand Cenote (underground river). We did not purchase the meal package at Mahekal but instead chose to venture on our own to the many nearby (walking) restaurants.
