The first impression of this hotel was terrible. We arrived with a reservation made for 4 days and the only room they gave us was hidden in one of the old parts of the hotel and stank of humidity. After complaining to the front desk for a while, we manage to get a second room which was slightly better but still super difficult to find in the 'maze' (as another review well-pointed out). Also, the shower get flooded and the door of the bathroom was noisy and didn't even close. After spending o... Read more

We were there for the Pope's visit in the city, and we booked a few days before. They put us first in one room in the las floor and in the worst place, a room with no windows, a bed that barely fits in the room, and a tv that was so old that should be on a museum. They moved us to a second room, a bit better, it has windows, a smaller bed, a tv old too, and a bathroom without a window, but we were next to the terrace, open and with a couple of chairs and bench hard as a rock. The third day they... Read more

I amexperiencing the same problem that other visitors had. They gave me a depressing room that looked more like 1 star hotel. I arrived at arounf 5 pm and made me wait for about 20 minutes before giving me this depressing old dirty room. After I complained, they worked it out to give me a more decent room after about an hour of wait. Even though it's decent, you can hear a big noise from the water running everytime someone flushes the toilet from higher rooms. The common areas from the hotel are... Read more

My wife and I were looking for a change of pace from our hotel's breakfast and so we scoured places one morning and landed here. I was really surprised by some of the negative reviews but maybe they are dated. These guys are on it! It is a beautifully renovated colonial building with a garden area. We sat next to the fountain and on the other side was a gentlemen playing classical music on the piano. We were greeted promptly and waited on hand and foot with refills for our coffee and teas. ... I have been traveling to Morelia regularly for work and Alameda has become my hotel of choice for overall value. Rooms are clean, some have nice views, rooms in rear are quieter, updated rooms in front are great but not my style and noiser on busy street. I have been quite pleased with the junior suite, colonial charm, spacious, desk and sofa, windows with views to deck and street. Everything works well and it's clean. Caution: interior rooms on ground floor are not appealing. Downtown loca... Read more

It seems like it. There's the new front section, which is supposed to be nice. There's a section in the back, where we stayed our first night (Room 414), which had peeling paint, a bad mold smell, and the general feel of a one star motel. Then there's the colonial section, where we stayed our second night. Pleasant old-fashioned rooms around a small courtyard. The best tip we can offer is to ask to change rooms if you end up in a bad one. It seemed like the staff was quite used to getting that r... Read more
