"This is a very nice Resort. If you looking for a quiet, clean, beautiful location in Cabo, Secrets Marquis is one of them. I traveled from April 28 - May 4 2013 with my Mother, Aunt and Cousin. I've been to a number of All-Inclusive and you do get what you pay for. I was comparing the Riu Palace and Pueblo Bonito Sunset but we chose Secrets Marquis, as it was smaller and easier for family to navigate back/forth to the rooms. I have also stayed at and highly recommend: Zoetry Casa Del Mar Los Cabos (next to Dreams). Zoetry is more expensive. Great place if you get it on sale. It's a boutique quiet sister resort. Beautiful grounds with colorful flowers everywhere. This hotel is smaller than the Marquis.

So back to Secrets Marquis: All of the staff were wonderful at the Marquis. Lobby is beautiful. Tipping is very much appreciated. I usually bring $75-$100 in small bills for a week but I like to tip b/c I appreciate good service and know how much they really do work for the tip. I also like having cash for small purchases from the vendors. You can catch the public 'BUS' to downtown Cabo San Lucas for $2/each way across the road. Be careful crossing and make sure you get on the right bus as ANY BUS will take you in the direction of Downtown/Cabo San Lucas/Marina--some will get you closer to the Marina/mall. It is safe. They will drop you off right in front of the Marquis as well- as long as you tell the driver. Call it 'the Marquis- Secrets' as there is another 'Secrets hotel'. Cab ride will run you $20 per person- we were told if you chose this option.

We loved sitting at either the Sunrise or Sunset infinity pools. There are a few full body floats for guests. I recommend bringing a good blow-up float IF you want a guaranteed float. Otherwise, learn to share which is fine as long as guests don't hog them all day. Chairs were always available. You do not need your Bubba Keg (big mug) here. The pool service is so good - there is no need for the Bubba. Fish tacos and Ceviche were amazing. Sole and sea bass great too. Some of the food was a little salty. Also liked the watermelon feta salad at the International restaurant. Breakfast whether you ordered off the buffet or room service was great. Room was large and had a beautiful view - all rooms have an ocean view. Bed was comfy. The waves are huge and loud as they pounded the surf. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend keeping the patio door closed...(you can still hear the waves -- which I liked). FYI - you cannot swim on this beach - waves are to rough. The beach is very beautiful and nice to take walks on.

I am a wine snob so I wasn't impressed with the all-inclusive house selection. Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were alright. I prefer Red but liked the Chardonnay better here. Didn't bother upgrading/paying for wine as it was pricey. Recommend regular margaritas (rocks/salt). They do tequila goood. When in Mexico, right? Miguel and Ferr in the Entertainment group were adorable. Aqua aerobics was fun. Not much to do here at night but great resort for couples or if you want to catch up on beauty sleep/rest. Enjoyed the outdoor movie one night.

The gym is located in the spa and has updated equipment: 4 treadmills, a few elliptical machines. Nautilus and free weights were a little dated but worked. 4 TV's. Wish there was an area to do sit up's. Did not use the SPA but looked very nice.

Advice: Upon arrival in the airport, do not be confused by the time share/activities sales staff as you are walking out to find your transportation. Walk ALL the way outside -- they will be there. Do not let the sales tell you that your 'transportation contact' will be back in 15 minutes. They will even guess what company you booked thru and call out a name...'Book it...Expedia...Epic?' Don't be fooled. Only talk to them if your genuinely interested in a time share or purchasing an activity thru them.

And my last advice. How many times to you hear to watch out for the sun! RE-APPLY sunscreen! Day 2 my back side got fried floating on the super comfortable blue pool floats. Sun is strong. Drinks are too and that's probably the reason we forgot to reapply to certain spots.

"Sercrets Marquis is definitely beautiful and the resort captures very well in photos but I would definitely NOT recommend it or go back to this resort. We stayed at the resort from Thursday, April 4- Sunday, April 7, 2013.
Secrets Marquis is only beautiful on the outside but lacks quality and content. Wi-fi does NOT work or connect to any of the iPhone/iPad devices. Do not bother paying for it! Also, if you are wooed by the idea of $200 vouchers to use at the resort, it is completely useless! You have to spend a lot more money to use the vouchers and can only use a very small portion of the $200 towards any service.

The food was HORRIBLE. Everything was extremely salty and lacking in quality- BIG TIME. All of us lost weight on this trip just because we found nothing on the menu worth ordering or eating again. Also, premium, top shelf alcohol!?! HAH! We would order our regular drinks(whatever that may be- Johnny Black, Tanqueray and Tonic, Patron, etc. )and soon realized it didn't taste like our regular drinks. When ordering the waiters would say they had the alcohol that we asked for, so we took their word for it. Once we realized it was NOT what we ordered, we started going up to the bar to order(the waiters did not like that) Then on Saturday, when there were more guests at the resort, they began pulling out the top shelf alcohol(later in the evening). The wait staff by the pools were friendly but not very honest. If you start tipping, they start expecting a tip after every single item they bring to you- tipping is not necessary.

The resort is a very quiet, almost eerily quiet place with very little foot traffic and very little entertainment. Also, there is no jacuzzi or night swimming available- pools close at 6pm. I would say the average age for the resort was 50 .

It was all of our first time at an all inclusive resort and I can guarantee you that I will never be going back! Secrets Marquis was a complete facade of luxury and quality when in reality it was everything but luxury and quality."
