"I just returned from a five day trip to Dreams Los Cabos with my best girlfriend. We were a little out of place, as the rest of the guests were retired, on their honeymoon, or with their families. But for us, it was the perfect getaway to relax in the sand and sun away from our jobs.
I loved the fact that we were removed from the city and had a serene stretch of beach. Even though it was spring break, I was surprised to see that nothing at the resort was overcrowded. We had no problem getting right in to eat for every meal. We did get to the pool early, but you shouldn't have a problem getting a lounge chair before 8 or 8:30. Granted, we went during the week, so things could very well be different on the weekends.
Upon arrival, they upgraded us to a honeymoon suite without even having to ask! And we got glasses of champagne upon checking in, which was a nice touch. ALL of the staff were EXTREMELY hospitable, friendly and helpful! Guy at the front desk put a smile on our face from the get-go. It's amazing how many staff members work there. And they're so intent on keeping things clean. Every day, I noticed people raking designs in the sand around the trees, women scrubbing pillars, people cleaning the pool each morning. They really put a lot of attention into the details. Even the ashtrays have an imprinted shell design and fresh flower poking out.
I heard many mixed reviews about doing an all-inclusive. Some said they completely take advantage of you, because you can eat out in the town for so much cheaper or go the the store and stock the kitchen in your room. I don't know about you, but on my vacation the last thing I want to be doing is cooking my meals myself, grocery shopping, or stressing about how much I can spend on each meal every day. The all-inclusive is just so EASY! You never have to worry about a thing, even the 24-hour room service is included. After endless hours of research and comparisons of all the all-inclusive hotels down there, I landed on Dreams because of the variety they offer. Most of the other hotels only have a couple buffet options to choose from each day, which I imagined to be extremely boring. Dreams has 5 restaurants, all with different fare, and all included in the plan. I also chose them because they have an adult-only pool and swim-up bars at both pools. I do suggest asking for a room overlooking the adult pool instead of the main pool if loud music bothers you. The main pool has loud top-40 type music starting at 10am and that's where they do the evening entertainment as well. The adult pool plays much quieter, tranquil music.
Tip: I suggest utilizing their spa. It's a bit expensive, but it's really nice and I had an amazing Swedish massage.
Only downsides: vendors on the beach that the resort can't control. But you can easily avoid them by laying at the pool. Our bathroom smelled a bit like smoke, even though they have a very strict non-smoking policy in all their rooms. And there was a dog constantly barking every evening and some mornings. The food isn't fantastic, but it's good enough and there are plenty of options!"

"A lovely setting with gorgeous grounds, beach and facilities. The staff were friendly and charming. Although time share sales is a significant part of the business, it is discrete. We had no interest and we were never approached after we initially said 'no thanks.' The food in all 5 restaurants was very good and the service was attentive and friendly. There were activities for the whole family every day and in the evening. This is a great place for a family vacation if you have kids of all ages. When we wanted a quiet time, we went to the adults-only pool area, with poolside food and beverage service and a swim up bar. The resort is about 20 minutes from Cabo San Lucas by car, taxi or bus. We would return to this wonderful place and would highly recommend it."

"Just a few short comments, we had a group of four that just got back from a week at Dreams Los Cabos.
Let me first say what I really thought was good about the resort.
The staff is top notch! Everthing from the greeting with a cold cloth when we arrived from travel by the bell hops, to the wait staff & maids! I did not have a single problem with anyone. We did not take on the time share staff, so I can not comment about how bad they are.
The resort is nice, a little dated, but nice. For the most part, things were pretty clean. Only a slight ant problem on our patio, but it was not to big of a deal.
Pools, and bars are nice!
Here are the not so good things.
Our room was very dated, small bathroom with a terrible shower/tub combo. Everytime we took the shower we had to fend off the shower curtain from clinging to us, and I am sure most would agree that is not very plesent. The draining was terrible in both our sink and tub, so as we were fighting off the shower curtain, we would be up to our ankles in dirty water. All while attempting to get clean.:) Only other big problem with the room was the lighting, it was bad! After seven nights, we still could not figure out all of the lights in our room. We just gave up!
Okay, now for the really bad.
On day three, I woke to a deadly rumble in my belly if you know what I mean. Yes I spent all of day three, and most of four going between my bed and the toilet. :( Not very much fun for vacation. On day seven, both my wife, one of our friends had the same problem.. So three of the four that went with us ended up very sick (enough where I visited the hotel doctor), and after talking with several other couples that we met we were not alone. All said and done, we met four other couples on our trip, and three of the four had at least one person get the same sort of thing. My wife is a nurse, and she had plenty of medication with her so we became the hotel pharamcy for the last few days. I have nothing to back this up, but mine, and several other people feel like it was food poisining.
One last thing about he food. Food not great
All in all, I would not recommend Dreams Los Cobos to anyone based on my experience. I would not totally discount anyone of the other great reviews overall we would have been much happier with our trip."

"The most challenging part is to understand the perspective of the reviewer. With that said, a bit of my previous similiar vacations that I can compare to. I went to Barcelo All inclusive a couple of years ago in SJD and Dreams by far blew that resort away. I have also stayed at Palace resorts in Vallarta and Moon Palace in Cancun. Dreams was comparable but had some noticable differences which I will get into:
Family Fun: By far this was one of the most kid friendly resort we have stayed in. The Explorers club was fantastic and would return just for their activities alone. My 5 year old daughter had a blast and was entertained the entire time. The staff was very friendly, was constantly keeping them involved with various kinds of activites. They had a set schedule daily printed out so you knew what was happening and what part of the resort they would be in. They opened I believe at 9AM and it went on till 10PM, leaving plenty of time to have mom and dad getaway or share their fun together.
Food: Restaurants were good in quality. MUCH better than Barcelo and again comparable to the Moon Palace resorts. No reservations required. If there was a little wait, they would take care of with a very courteous and pleasant way. We tried all 5 restaurants and were not dissappointed by any of them. Sushi place was amazing. The Sashimi special was excellent and fresh (though I had my doubts about having sushi in Mexico) figured we at the world capital of fishing, so it was worth the try and it was amazing. Nice presentation, fresh, fun... and again kid friendly even for a sushi place. The seafood restaurant was beautiful. Definitely go for the Sea Bass... Portofino was good. The steak was well prepared. Food presentation was maginificant. Mexican food and other venues were all good.
Cocktails: Ask for what you want. Are the drinks watered down? I think some were and were they top notch quality like Don Julio or Patron Tequila... NO... Palace resort had better quality drinks.. but it didn't bother me that much.. El Jimador tequila did job for us and when mixing with a margarita.. it was just fine.
Pool: Easy to find beds anytime. Though the front row on the pool would be taken by aroun 10am, but worse case you end up on the second row of chairs... We checked out the tranquility pool side and it was beautiful but boring. Didn't last long there and wanted to hang out back were the music and fun was. Water temperature of the pool was refreshing. A tiny bit warmer would be nice, but they had a jacuzi to make up for it if needed. As for the service around the pool... you don't have to hunt down the cocktail waitress or waiter when ordering food. They come around. (be sure to tip them)
Beach: Unswimable, however, if you walk about a mile to the left you can go in this cove next to the hilton, Rent Jet Ski's, swim a bit and even snorkle. Its worth an hour of your day if you stay long enough, but CABO is not a Beach friendly place.. you have been warned... We did go horse riding which was fun.. about $25 per person to go on the beach.. The guide will take some decent pictures of you so have your camera ready for him.
Activities: The Entertainment Team at the resort does an excellent job with gathering people to do water aerobics, Dreams Olympics, Riflle shooting, Ping Pong, Tequila Tasting, putting green, bean bag, etc, etc.. Their schedule is listed on the daily activities. Try to get involved and you will have fun. Its a big part of the experience at this resort. (as is just vegging on the beach or poolside of course)
Hotel Rooms: They were pleasant. nothing spectacular. The bathrooms were OK. This is something I would have the hotel change in time. Perhaps a bit more modern bathrooms and furniture may be needed. The shampoo and other little goodies were a bit dissappointing. A jacuzi tub would be a nice feature. Barcelo and Palace resorts had nicer rooms, but again, nothing that was too big of a deal. Pillows were not great and could be of better quality. They made up for this little aspect by the service and upkeep and friendliness of the staff.
Spa: I did get a 50 min. massage. It was OK. nothing to write home about. I prefer Vegas style spa's and this was an attempt to be like such, but didn't do it for me.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel especially for families. Kids age 5 and up will just have a blast and leave mom and dad with plenty of time to have some free time together. Hotel was the perfect size. Not huge where going back to the room because you forgot sunblock was a pain. Just the right size resort to make it easy to walk from one end to the other without it being a drag.Service was excellent in all aspects. Food was great... Not a 5 star like a ritz or four seasons, but it was delicious and fun and customized as ordered. Pool and activities all Great 5 stars in that aspect. Room was 4 star. I would love to go back to this resort. HAVE FUN.

"My 9 yo daughter and myself spent her Spring Break here, and could not have asked for more! The hotel was EXTREMELY family friendly, and my daughter couldn't wait to go to the Explorer's Club and play with other kids, or do some fun activity, printed on a daily schedule sheet. The staff was helpful, accommodating and dedicated. Very convenient to schedule activities such as the Dolphin Swim (a blast!) or snorkeling at a beach more user-friendly, as ours had too strong an undertow to swim. But we did spend time playing on our beach, as well. Very safe; my daughter was able to come and go on the premises with no problem. Quiet, relaxing, friendly place. LOVED the all-inclusive: no cooking or cleaning and terrific (not gourmet, but who cares?) food for all ages and tastes. Would go back in a heartbeat!"

"We've been going to Dreams los Cabos now for 7 years. As Goldilocks say, not too big, not too small, but just right. The magic of Dreams isn't the food, the rooms, the staff, the environment, etc. It's simply everything together. While other resorts might have this or that, Dreams has a nice chemistry. Others like Cabo Azul have tried to copy the Dreams recipe, but noone in Cabo comes close. Dreams los Cabos is all good. If you meet David, the entertainment director, I think you will instantly get it as he is genuinely a great guy, plus he is dangerous behind the bar and the tennis court. Enjoy!"
