"When we got there they put us in a 2nd floor room,( we had requested a ground level room) they did move us but it took 3 tries as some air conditioners would not work. Oh, and watch the wooden steps their in poor shape. We did get into the newer section and the room was good, the maid service good as were the hotel staff. At their restaurant/bar where you get the free breakfast, very poor slow and rude service if you want the free breakfast and just slow if you just want a meal or snack, we went down the twords the north beach, their great there, Oh and the internet....NON IN THE ROOMS ONLY AT THE BAR AND ITS NOT RELIABLE...EVEN TO JUST CHECK EMAIL."

"Hotel Cabanas Maria del Mar is located on the best beach on the island. Everyone on the staff, especially in the bar/restaurant area are awesome! Super friendly, great people! We stayed in the castle rooms, which are recently remodeled. The rooms are simple but VERY clean. The AC worked very well, the beds are comfortable, cable tv, the shower is not that great but it gets the job done. Make sure to visit the south end of the island. There's a restaurant with a round patio facing the ocean, right by the art sculptures. It is GOOD!! Have fun enjoy your stay!! "
