Buho`s is a casual open air restaurant/bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. A diverse range of dishes are served, including a few island specialties. Buho`s three beach palapa bars, with its unusual combination of swings and hammocks, serves a vast selection of tropical drinks, ice cold bear and fruit cocktails. Beverage service is available from 10:00 a.m. to midnight. Famous for its sunset happy hour, Buho`s has been a ``must-see`` attraction for over a decade!
NOTE: During low season (September 1 - December 15th) the restaurant only opens for continental breakfast.

The hotel`s spa affiliate, Casa de Luz, offers a full spa menu just minutes away in the island`s downtown area. The hotel`s Front Desk can arrange spa services on your behalf at their location or in your room.

Exit Cancun International Airport and take Luis Donaldo Colosio Blvd towards city of Cancun. Turn right onto Jose Lopez Portillo Blvd towards Puerto Juarez and Punta Sam. Once you are at Puerto Juarez or Punta Sam, you have different options to go to Isla Mujeres.

Travel (Avoid Expensive cab fares by purchasing your transfer prior your arrival plus get access to local assistance and tours at the Resort) :

1. By car. From Punta Sam, there is a ferry that takes 45 minutes.

2. By express boats. They leave from Puerto Juarez every 30 minutes and take 15 minutes.

3. By comfortable tourist boats. From Cancun hotel zone, there are several departures and take 35 minutes. The express boats leave every 30 minutes from 6am to 8:30pm. It takes 15 minutes to Isla Mujeres.

4. Another way to arrive quickly for those who travel by car, is to take the ferry at Punta Sam with your car and family. The journey takes 45 minutes and the schedules are as follows:(times are subject to change without notice according to weather conditions)

8am, 11am, 2pm, 5:30pm, 8:15pm
Isla Mujeres - Punta Sam
6:30am, 9:30am, 12:45pm, 4:15pm, 7:15pm

"This is a great location! We found Cabanas area of hotel to be very beautiful grounds and staff at the front desk were very accommodatng and friendly. Conversely, the staff running the bar and 'Buho' restaurant across the street were very depressed and acted like you were bothering them. They were slow and really seemed to hate their jobs. This was really the only drawback that we can note. While the Cabanas section is older, it is kept clean and the grounds are beautiful! I agree with other raters that you should skip the 'all-inclusive' offers for meals. There are a great number of really great restaurants on Hidalgo Street at really reasonable prices. I will definitely be returning to Isla Mujeres!"

"6 weeks of paridise. The castle room up stairs was bright and had ocean view. We loved the vaulted sealings. We loved the shower. Our king bed was very comfortable. The staff from the beginning were extremely helpful and happy to accomodate any of our needs. Our room was cleaned every day and sheets were changed every 3rd day. Tipping the maid was a pleasure. The breakfast was perfect coffee juice toast (peanut butter, jelly, nutella) I went the tortilla factory and bought qt. fresh squeesed orange juice 20 peso, went to market purchased granola, milk, yogart and bananas for additional choices for our breakfast. The staff at breakfast were super frendly and did their job well. Best beach on the island. Each weekend fresh pig tacos to die for. Roticerie chicken, tortillas, rice, beans, pickeled onions, hot sauce 100 peso. shrimp cevechi chips hotsauce omg we r in love with everything on the island. We will definately be back 3 months next trip. Thank you for everything. Love love the Cabanas maria del mar"

"We stayed in the Cabanas section on an upper floor room for 2 weeks. The location on the beach is superb and the pool area is great as well. the gardens around the pool and Cabanas area are very pleasant with lots of flowering trees.
Our room lack a chest of drawers which was dissappointing for an extended stay. Beds were decently comfortable. Air conditioning a bit loud.
We found the hotel quiet but only a couple of blocks to all the action. Staff is friendly. Regarding the breakfast, as we don't eat bread, we usually just got coffee to go and had it back in our room. The terrace is really enjoyable, although lacked outdoor reading lights. A few mosquitos were easily deterred with repellent.
Overall a very decent hotel in a really good location."

"When we got there they put us in a 2nd floor room,( we had requested a ground level room) they did move us but it took 3 tries as some air conditioners would not work. Oh, and watch the wooden steps their in poor shape. We did get into the newer section and the room was good, the maid service good as were the hotel staff. At their restaurant/bar where you get the free breakfast, very poor slow and rude service if you want the free breakfast and just slow if you just want a meal or snack, we went down the twords the north beach, their great there, Oh and the internet....NON IN THE ROOMS ONLY AT THE BAR AND ITS NOT RELIABLE...EVEN TO JUST CHECK EMAIL."

"Hotel Cabanas Maria del Mar is located on the best beach on the island. Everyone on the staff, especially in the bar/restaurant area are awesome! Super friendly, great people! We stayed in the castle rooms, which are recently remodeled. The rooms are simple but VERY clean. The AC worked very well, the beds are comfortable, cable tv, the shower is not that great but it gets the job done. Make sure to visit the south end of the island. There's a restaurant with a round patio facing the ocean, right by the art sculptures. It is GOOD!! Have fun enjoy your stay!! "
