Xaloc was a nice hotel. I stayed there for several days last year and the staff and grounds are nice. Above the lobby there is a library with tons of books to choose from and a nice terrace to read on. They have two pools and the hotel ambience was very quiet and chill. Free breakfast in the morning was a nice perk.

If you are a refugee from Playa del Carmen or Isla de Mujeres, this is a nice place. Holbox, in general, is far from the peaceful and placid paradise that people often describe. It is, in fact a little sister to the industrial resort towns of the Costa de Sol. Be aware, for instance that the picturesque "golf carts" are gasoline powered, smoke belching, poorly mufflered four-wheelers. And that the beach is an interstate highway full of them and motorcycles. That said, Xaloc Resort is a nice pl... Read more

Do yourself a favor and just avoid Xaloc. First of all- the place reeks of sewage- probably because of the dirty swampy area at the entrance of the hotel. The rooms are not clean and very dark, the shower is old and shabby but the most annoying was the noise- apparently the hotel is located between two extremely noisy construction sites that works from dust to dawn. Not the relaxing atmosphere you anticipate from a "resort" that charges 200 USD a night.

Not only did we not get the room we booked 4(!) months in advance - but once we settled for alternative room they offered - we realized that the hotel is located next to 2 construction areas: First is a new building being built right next to it (see attached picture, I wish I could also upload a video so you can hear the noise), and the other is a hotel going under renovation on the other side of the hotel. We got moved again to another room just to get away from the noise (obviously the bed i... Read more

Very nice hotel, very nice beach and very nice service, incredible experience. Lacks of heated pool, this is the only down side. Everything else is superb, specially the amazing beach! unforgettable experience and very good prices for food and drinks.

We stayed for 5 nights at Xaloc for our honeymoon recently. This was our first trip to Holbox, which we enjoyed immensely. We were early for check in, but the front desk took our bags and directed us to the pool to cool down. I was apprehensive walking into the property because there is a walkway as you enter that is adjacent to a smelly, swampy area. We had heard that Holbox has a mosquito problem and I was surprised to see standing, stinky water like that - perfect breeding ground for mosquit... Read more

We had a lovely laid back stay in Xaloc resort. It was great for all 3 generations and gave us a good taste of island life. For us this hotel was in a great position. It is on the beach but only a short walk into town. It is also far enough into the beach strip to walk to the other popular beach resorts such as Nubes or Flamingos for drinks and swinging in the hammocks in the sea, for that iconic Holbox photo. I totally agree with the other reviewers that the staff at Xaloc resort are lovely and... Read more

Very good service, good attention, the room was clean, good bathroom (the water has some failures) , excellent view, the wifi was so terrible and are limited to the areas and sometimes not conexión available, the breakfast included missing meat and eggs.

Loved this quaint hotel, it has plenty of rooms and is a great location, not too far from town, but on a nice stretch of beach. The staff was super friendly and the food and drinks were good. We would definitively come back here. The back pool was secluded and quiet in Nov. it is the family area, but we were the only guests around the pool, most of the time.

We enjoyed our two nights at Xaloc. The staff was helpful and friendly, often going out of their way to assist us with food, transportation and other requests. The air-conditioning unit was overcome by the heat and humidity, though, and our thatched room bungalow was mighty hot.
