We are well traveled and have stayed at many AI and non AI resorts in the Riviera Maya, Costa Rica and the Caribbean. The Explorean was exactly what we had hoped it would be. It is a smaller intimate relaxing resort with very nice personable service and staff. We felt like they actually cared about us. We also liked that we had access to everyting at the Fiesta Americana resort next door. Food and drinks are Explorean and Fiesta Americana were great. We enjoyed our room in the Caracol building a... I'm a bit remiss on my review of The Explorean. Actually I was just scanning prices for The Explorean as it was such a blast and we really want to go back. The funny thing is we were there the same week as Linda, Matt & Ed (keep reading reviews) and that is one of the coolest things - you get to meet new people and make new friends. The experience is 'boutique' in terms that the hotel is small, the service personal, the food fantastic, and the guests friendly. We were the only ones in our ... Read more

Based on the reviews on Trip Advisor, my wife and I chose the Explorean for our sixth trip to Cozumel. Things started out bumpy, but got better as the week progressed. As others have explained the Explorean is centered around a jungle motif, and is situated behind the Fiesta Americana, which is the usual beach front all inclusive hotel. Although you could spend all your time at the Explorean, you would miss out on the thingd the FA has to offer. I will review both. Room: The room is decent sized... Read more

This is not a typical all-inclusive, and that's a good thing. The food, service and excursions make it an outstanding place to stay. I've stayed at a lot of all-inclusives and this one is top notch if you like someplace quiet and authentic. About half of the guests were from mainland Mexico. This resort is the best of both worlds - you get the small, quiet side at Explorean, and the busier, more active side at Fiesta Americana. You only have one pool at Explorean, but it's so peaceful! This was the #1 Hotel on trip advisor "The Explorean " in Cozumel a place to disconnect from the world, that is their concept a very good one, only two in Mexico. No TV in the rooms and get ready to be pampered from their heart to yours the attention by the staff and everyone that was involved was more than expected they went above and beyond on everything. I'm not going to make this long since so many others are in total agreement with the excellent rating. The staff (all of them) were amazing. About anything you desire they will make sure you have it. Our room was minimalist by design and lovely. There is a screen (curtain) to separate the bath area and actual room. A/C was excellent, water hot and cold as needed. I would think a high rated "green" hotel. Electricity was on a motion sensor, very smart. There was never a crowd, and as the ... Read more

We'd been to the Fiesta Americana several times prior to the major renovation as well as last year. We liked it before and most definitely love it now. We had an awesome stay at Explorean. Plenty to eat, plenty to drink (enjoyed the self service bar). Tours were fun and interesting. The staff is amazing - attentive, polite, friendly and respectful. Wish the rooms had more hooks for hanging wet clothes after snorkeling. Also, be careful walking around everywhere - fall hazards from slippery tiles to odd steps down around the bar - I understand they are working on this, though. Fabulous vacation!

My husband and I had the pleasure of spending one week in the shaded jungle of the Explorean resort. Located a short walk from its sister property, Fiesta Americana, the Explorean is the quiet, small resort we were hoping for. The people at his place MAKE the vacation amazing. Included in your stay at the Explorean is a week full of wonderful activities - Jeep tour, snorkeling, history, tequila tasting, bike tour - just one adventure each day lasting anywhere from 3 to 5 hours...leaving you p... Overall The Explorean Cozumel was a wonderful place to stay while in Mexico. The tours each day were well organized and the guides awesome, fun and knowledgeable. The restaurant's food at the Explorean got a little monotonous with only fish and chicken entrees on the menu every time we ate there. So we tended to go to the other restaur... Read more

I originally had booked the Fiesta Americana but upon arrival they told me they were over booked and moved me to The Explorean, I was annoyed at first but pleasantly surprised. This hotel is very peaceful and the rooms are very nice- modern and "eco friendly". The pool is very nice and relaxing. You get the best of both worlds when staying at The Explorean- the bustling fiesta americana and the relaxtion of the explorean. Overall, I had a good stay and the staff members were all very nice and h... Read more

We loved our stay at this resort. We especially enjoyed the friendly staff, great food, and wonderful daily tours (included in price). Carlos and his team was focused on making sure every guest was happy and comfortable. We liked the daily tours and diversity of excursions offered. The sunset kayak/dinner tour was our far! If you are hesitant in selecting a location, pick this will be VERY satisfied. We have stayed at several resorts, this one is FIRST CLASS.
