"Good place to relax, no more..
Nice location, good and friendly stuff, nice small beach. Very good ocean, clean and warm - good for snorkeling. Bars are fine and stuff is very friendly.
Room, Food were OK, Only 2 restaurants and buffet.
Entertainment poor, like nothing at all compare to some other resorts.
Bunch of annoying sales people on site, trying to sell you time shares.
No free WI-FI - u have to pay $16 per day, but who will use it whole day, so basically you will pay this amount for 20 - 30 minutes to check you email or quick chat with friend or family. Way too much Computer room $5 per 30 min, but you can't really do anything on them - no admin access to use the app you like.
Forgot to mention - absolutely useless sport bar, running just add, weird sounds. You can't really watch of dance there...
Overall - good if you plan just to relax on beach or sit at bar and drink

"I have vacationed in Mexico for the past 3 years. The first two years were in Riviera Maya and this trip was in Cozumel. Park Royal is a great bang for your buck place. I am kind of a germaphobe and I found this resort VERY clean. I would definitely go back to this place. I have two important call outs: 1. If you are young and are looking for a great night life at the resort this is not the place for you. They have one show a night with performers but no music/dancing or entertainment by the pool as I've had at previous resorts. 2. The food selection is not the best. It is edible and doable for a week but it's not like you get there and say 'wow this is great food.' Overall I would recommend and I would go again. I can't believe the view. We travelled all over the island and even all the locals told us this is the best place to stay on the island for the view. The beach area is perfect and quaint and well maintained."

"The only thing I was disappointed about was, we paid for a room that would have a fruit basket, bottle of wine, special decoration in the room upon arrival and we didn't get any of it. They did bring a bottle of something after I complained. I was very disappointed that it wasn't there. We were celebrating our 25 year wedding anniversary and I was looking forward to these things.
I also didn't like being bothered so much about buying a timeshare."

"Cozumel itself is a great place. I went for a vacation on an island hoping to have a great beach, This beach at the hotel is so very small & rocky. If there are 5 people in the water you will be within an arms reach of them entering the water.
You decide, I will list pros & cons. Pros: Cozumel is amazing with crystal clear waters. the hotel is the cleanest place I have ever known & the staff is always cleaning or doing maintenance. the landscape is beautiful & perfect. All of the staff is very friendly & hard working. Air in the room worked well The 3 pools are very cool with plenty of room. The food had a wide variety for everyone & tasted very good. The shower was great, very large with a rain head. Very close to downtown. Beautiful to look at. Cons: the beach was not acceptable to me, just way too small for an island resort. The entertainment was only once nightly & was poor quality & no variety. The drinks were all very watered down tasting even the juices. no clock in the room, no fridge in the room. The drinks outside were in small plastic cups. Only lounge chairs by the pool & beach areas to sit on. It was not a horrible experience but I felt my money went much further at the RIU Caribe Cancun & this hotel lacked the fine details to make me want to return."

"Great spring break trip for myself & 2 teenage boys as well as my parents. Food/buffet was good, wide variety of items. Gave a suggestion of a soft-serve/ice cream machine as there wasn't any. Drinks are plentiful and staff will make the drinks as you wish, even fill up a thermos/large drink cup for you if you wish. Wasn't impressed with the Italian restaurant, but it was something different. Dive shop on site, nice beach, clean pools (were a little chilly!) but everything on the grounds were kept spotless. Will definitely return!"

"All in all this was a very good trip and a very good resort. There were a few things that I was not impressed with. 1. The food was pretty good in the buffet eating area however the food in the Italian was awful. I would not suggest wasting your time with it. I heard the Mexican was good but after having dinner at the Italian we chose to just stick with the buffet when at the resort. 2. The rooms require you to use your key to turn on the lights. This was a bit annoying and we were not told this at check in. Our room had a leak from the a/c unit and made the floor very wet and could have been dangerous if not noticed. They did however come up and fix it immediately but it was not a good first impression of the room. We had a garden view room but it still had partial ocean views so that was a nice surprise. The lighting in the sink area was very dim so the makeup mirror was almost pointless. House keeping was great and cleaned very well. There was never a problem with sticky fingers anywhere at anytime at the resort. The staff is very nice and professional. My last complaint was the timeshare/members employees trying to con you into going to the presentation on being a member to their resort. They try to lure you in with huge discounts on activities or a jeep rental for a day. If you don't mind spending part of your vacation being talked into spending money on a timeshare than it might be worth it. If not just say no and you can still find great deals on activities without wasting time hearing about how to become a member.
I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay at a nice place at a great price. Cozumel is a beautiful place with so many great things to do and see. Make sure you go to the other side of the island for a day even 2. It's beautiful and the people are amazing!"

"If you plan to buy a time share....be prepared for the pounding drum single beat of the pool 'music' all day.
Bring a alcohol meter....there is none in the drinks. All is watered down. The Bailey's after dinner drink is like skimmed milk.
Not 1 clock in the whole place.
Food is like a cafeteria...and you are not allowed leave even with an apple.
Almost every time we entered the cafeteria...she would ask.':Are you leaving today?'
Maid did not clean me room 1 day.
The rest of the time the room was cleaned around 3 in the afternoon.
Ah... the bathroom waterglasses....no where on the maids cart are there any glass to replace the dirty ones so that leaves me with the conclusion she washed them....maybe... by hand.
You have to pay for WIFI.
You have to pay for the room safe.
They most definately save on the food and drinks... Poor quality.
The place is clean and well kept. That is about all going for it.
I love Cozumel and scuba dive there. I thought I would try a resort. Not worth the money for what you think you will get.

"the staff was very friendly and helpful. the food quality was above average for an all inclusive though the variety was somewhat lacking at times. the restaurants we both excellent, above average. the drinks were very good, top shelf liquor was available. the snorkeling was excellent and the free equipment for one hour was nice. the beach is extremely small therefore walking on the beach is not possible. if you like long walks on the beach do not stay here as you will be disappointed. the infinity pools looking out at the ocean are very nice, although a heated jacuzzi would have been nice as opposed to the unheated ones. we did enjoy watching the cruise ships coming and going. if you are looking for a small, relaxing, family vacation, this hotel is perfect. it lacks nightlife and party atmosphere of the mega resorts but is perfect for a quiet getaway if that is your goal. a couple bumps... it is not a 24 hour all inclusive so you will not have food and drink options available during certain times, there is no free wi fi option but it is available for purchase. the location is pretty good, close to downtown, only about a $10 taxi ride, and there is some shopping at the cruise port which is only about a 5 minute walk, as well as some close restaurants, convenience stores, car/scooter rental across from the hotel. we did rent a jeep for the day from the thrifty place across from the hotel. if you do rent a vehicle please use extreme caution as you could be stuck with a piece of junk. our jeep would shake uncontrollably if we went over 40 mph. we should have returned it because it was so unsafe but by the time we found out we were already several miles outside of town and didn't want to waste more of our day. we heard other guest complaining of unsafe vehicle issues as well, even using other agencies. therefore i would simply advise a 'renter beware' approach. the only other issue we had was the two hour wait at the cozumel airport for the luggage from our flight to be checked and released by the army. this was unbelievable. so again, be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait some more. in spite of a couple bumps in the road, we had a great time in cozumel. i would recommend renting a car, using caution, and taking a trip around the island. we stopped at several beaches, chen rio and definitely mireno beach, just north of chen rio, is a must see. the east side of the island is spectacular."

"If you are looking for a laid back, quite vacation this is your spot. I would describe the overall atmosphere at Park Royal Cozumel as very family oriented.
The staff does try hard to keep everything flowing but there is a lack of 'spark' and entertainment. Don't get pulled into a 'tour' of the resort because they will try to sell you their version of a time share. The best part of the resort was the all you can eat buffet and drinks. I can truly say that I was never hungry during my stay, they did a very good job. The staff was also very friendly.
Cozumel as an overall island is very pretty. During the day the shops are filled with tourists and life. But 7-8 pm roles around and all the cruise tourists board back on their ships and everything closes. There is no life in town. There are day resorts around the island where you can go spend directly on the beach with a lot more entertainment, but you do have to pay additional.

"Unbelievable experience. I had no idea what to expect going in and the whole experience blew me away. The staff made the trip as great as it was. The same staff that was there at breakfast were usually still the ones working at a late dinner and they were just as happy to greet us and assist us after 12 hours. I can't believe how well they took care of the smallest details to make the trip what it was. Can't say enough positive things about my experience."

"i needed change TO TIP THEIR WAITERS AND WAITRESSES, and they only had pesos. so i didn't tip that night. management very inefficient. when i wanted to talk to a manager, he was in a meeting, atleast thats what i was told. our ac went out 1 night' woke up at 2 in the morning, was told not working after being checked. so 2 in the morning, they said they would change room. we waited to no avail, my new wife, from mexico, fixed it after being told it went bad. she played with thermostat, that they checked, and got it going in 2 minutes. also, 2nd floor, you can hear noise all the way from bar. yes, very clean rooms, but not sound at all. workers are very friendly, but if your near any staff doors, you will be woken up early. very pretty place, but if you need help with a problem, tough luck. regular workers, A , management, F."

"This place is amazing!!! My husband and I came here for our honeymoon! The minute we got there we were greeted with the nicest people! The staff was SO great, outstanding service! Almost every room has a glass balcony over looking palm trees and beautiful scenery. The food was great! The pools were great!.. The beach was great! They had amazing activities during the day and night!..I would recommend flying into Cozumel. We flew into Cancun, which meant a 40 min bus ride to the Ferry, then a 35 min Ferry ride to the island, then a taxi cab!. So that was a long trip which we would like to avoid next time.
The lemonade is awesome, its actually limeade! The pico de gallo is addicting! The nicer restuarants are super fancy, makes you feel like a million bucks. You also get to see some wild life at the hotel. The snorkeling gear is free for an hour each day, and its so much fun to go out in the ocean with it!..
Note-the rooms all have double beds, no king, which isnt a huge deal.
But overall-amazing resort!! loved it!! and want to go back!!"

"We had a wonderful time at Park Royal. The place is so clean, staff so friendly and the food was very good, better than most inclusive I've stayed at. The Mexican restaurant has a Coconut Grouper with Mango Sauce that is to die for!! We didn't have any problem with the time share people. Yes the beach is small so if you are looking for a place to take long walks on the beach, not the place to do that. Rooms are spacious and up to date, and mattresses were perfect for us. Lighting in the bathroom is poor and the bathroom area is small, but workable. The grounds are beautifully maintained, but the paths are all made of dead coral and are uneven. Wasn't a problem for us but I can see that it could be for some. The front desk staff could sometimes be a bit 'stiff', depending on who was on duty. We enjoyed the entertainment staff so much, although the nightly entertainment wasn't the best, these young people were absolutely delightful. Lots of pools, hot tubs aren't hot, but relaxing. Will definitely return one day."

"Id like to start by saying that your arrival at Park Royal is unbelievable. You are guided to your room by a most friendly staff. The room was immaculate upon our arrival and couldnt have been nicer. The cleaning staff is to be commended for their diligent work. Our room was attended to every day in the same fashion-completely clean. The outside staff is beyond compare. They are more than friendly and actually are happy to greet and serve you every day. The drinks are delicious and I will return just to enjoy a real margarita and mojito. The array of food offered each day leaves nothing to be desired and our reservations for the two specialty restaurants were handled professionally. The wait staff is friendly well dressed and you would be hard pressed to find its caliber in the US. The overall atmosphere of the resort is laid back and pretty to the eye. Thatched roofs and stone walkways make you feel transported. There are plenty of little alcoves to be alone and they offered fun things to do each day if you felt the need to play with others. The nightly shows were good clean fun and the guys and gals who organize them should win an award for the hard work they do literally all day and end at nite entertaining on stage. Shopping was a close walk away. Anything you need or want is available within the resort or a quick walk or drive away. Ill be changing my priorities as a New Years resolution. No more take-out. My cash belongs to Park Royal! Se You Soon!!!! "

"Overall I would have to say our stay in Cozumel was great!
We have stayed at dozens of all inclusive throughout the Caribbean over the years and knew what to expect, however Cozumel is different from most Caribbean travel destinations and an all inclusive looses some of its attractiveness since there are so many great restaurants and clubs in the downtown area that are both cheap and entertaining. Also the dive company at the resort is a cattle call type service with large crowded boats and there are small dive companies down town that offer boats with no more than 6 divers and can tailor make your dive experience.
On the plus side, the resort is clean and well kept and the food is mediocre. The staff is friendly and helpful. That's about it.
On the negative side, we paid for the "Romance Deluxe Ocean View Room... and what we got was a room with double beds. We were told that no other rooms were available and that we could be switched "tomorrow.... After 2 tomorrows came and went we gave up. Also never saw the fruit basket, sparkling wine or the romantic diner for two. Don't bother with buying transportation a cab ride from the airport is only 12 bucks and it's hard to get a voucher for the return trip. (We ended up paying those ourselves). BEWARE OF THE TIME SHARE SALES PEOPLE!!! Those life suckers are everywhere!!!
We will be back to Cozumel, not Park Royal, but we will be staying down town!

"We just returned from a 7-day vacation at Park Royal and I CANNOT rave enough about this trip and the resort. Staff was fantastic, grounds were beautiful, the entire resort was excellently maintained and very clean! We went with two teenage daughters and felt completely safe at all times! The beach was small but more than adequate with areas to snorkel and take a dip in the gorgeous Caribbean water.
I have read the other reviews and want to point out a couple things: You are not booking at the Four Seasons so you cannot expect perfection. Our experience was exceptional just knowing this.
The 'timeshare' people paled in comparison to the 'sharks' at the airport. We did an hour and half tour and were left alone after that.
The beds are hard but I have since heard that you can ask for additional padding for them, again, not something I found to have a negative impact on my visit!
The 'hot tubs' are not hot and pools are chilly-but it is Mexico!
Food was very good, you get tired of the buffet atmosphere but it was a very nice presentation, good quality food AND all water at the resort is purified. The fine dining experience was absolutely wonderful!
It is correct that you cannot get US dollars at the desk-so recommend you plan ahead. Even if you stop in downtown on the way in and make a purchase. Again, not a big enough issue to complain about!
TIP the staff, people!!! Though the inclusive packages include tips, the minimum wage is low in Mexico (and the tips are split up among ALL staff) and these staff work their hind ends off to make your vacation wonderful! If you canafford to take a vacation, you can afford to toss a couple dollars down at each meal or with each drink (not bar pour liquor either). Honestly, this area was one of my biggest disappointments watching others around me fail to tip!!
Long story short, I would go back in a heartbeat and I would recommend this resort to everyone!!"

"Our stay at the Park Royal was not our first time there. The staff was very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. The beach is very little, but plenty of bars and pools.Snorkeling is awsome at the resort. The rooms are very clean, as a matter of fact the whole resort was very clean and well maintained. The lack of nightitme activities is somewhat a problem, we went to the show and played bingo, but we had to go to town to find something to do.It would be nice if the beach pools and bar areas would stay open after dark. The food was always plentifull but was on par with the food at other all inclusives.I do want to commend the staff as very very helpfull and always friendly and ready to help with anything we needed.."

"Convenient location with quick, easy access to downtown and other sites, though downtown is not walking distance or as close as the resort's information would lead you to believe. The food in the buffet was mediocre, but the service was fantastic and the omelettes at breakfast were great. The fare at the Italian restaurant was delicious. The Mexican restaurant was also good, but the Italian was definitely the best, which is ironic since you are in Mexico. The resort was very clean and the staff very friendly and engaging. The exception to this was the concierge who was only interested in helping you with activities if you were willing to sit through a timeshare presentation. Having access to 'free' snorkel gear was nice, but it would've been nice if the hours were more accommodating - you had to return it by 3:00 pm. In addition, the resort advertised that 'all non-motorized water sports' were included. This is not true! The only thing you can get is a mask, snorkel & fins! And there is an additional fee to use the fitness center! I also thought it was ridiculous that there was a $2/day charge to use your in-room safe. Our room was comfortable, quiet and clean, and we even had a view of the ocean where the cruise ships come in; my only complaint would be that they need better lighting in the bathroom. It would also be nice to have a clock in your room. The resort is also not really 'handicap friendly.' One of the members in our party had some limitations with ambulation and the walkways throughout the resort are very rough and uneven (almost like cobblestone, but worse) and there is a large staircase that everyone must negotiate to get into and out of the resort. The guys in the activity staff were a happy, fun bunch and had activities for everyone - volleyball, water aerobics, water polo, Spanish lessons, dance lessons, etc."

"The resort stay was great! The food selection could have been better. If you do go do not book excursions with book it. The people they use really don't communicate well and we had to run like crazy to catch the last water ferry back to Cozumel. This really ruined the day for us. The possibility being in a foreign country at night alone was not a fun thought. "

"My 16 year old daughter and I were there on April 14-21. We had a great time. The hotel and its staff are wonderful. I had read about not being able to get a beach chair. We never had any problem with this and I did not get up early to reserve a chair. We enjoyed hanging out at the infinity pool area more than the sandy beach area. The food was delicious at the buffet and there was a good variety. We loved sushi on Oriental night. We also ate at both of the reservation restaurants. They were delicious, we especially liked the Mexican restaurant. We went on an excursion that our representative booked for us. It was a good time and he was very helpful. We took taxi's into town on numerous occasions. We never had any hot water problems, and it was the best shower ever! The beds were definitely hard, my daughter has back problems and it bothered her more than me. My only criticism is about check out day. I cannot believe that they cut off your all-inclusive bracelet at noon on checkout day. We were not planning on leaving the resort until 2 because of our flight time and we were unable to have lunch at the restaurant. It really left me with a bad feeling at the end of my vacation."

"Maids went through our bags when we were not in our room. food at the buffet was bland and all tastes the same. plates are dirty and mostly the same food every day. resturants food was good (not 5 star) but reservations are hard to get when you have to stand in line at noon to get reservations. At noon most people are in town/ touring the island, not hanging around waiting for dinner reservations. We ate out most nights (much better food across street at Ernesto's). The kids are overwhelming. It was like being on a disney cruise (more kids than adults). There is no adults only area and the kids fill up the three swim up bars making it hard to relax with a drink (kids splashing water constantly). Bars close by 7pm except a small outdoor bar up by front desk and a 'sports bar' The sports bar is so lame!!! The hotel staff is constantly trying to sell you excursion trips as well as time shares. Hotel had great live shows after dinner in the bandstand. Beaches are great on other side of island. Not a bad hotel but way too many kids and we prefer a more exclusive hotel"

"Cleanest place I have ever been to. Friendliest staff and great crowd as well. The food was great and so were the drinks. A few tips: Don't be shocked when you get there- you don't have to walk across the street to get to the beach, once you check in you will see an underpass that leads to it, and it is marvelous, 2 endless pools, 2 bubbly tubs (not heated), 2 bars, volleyball court & beach grille. You have to get down to the pool early and claim a chair, like 7:30am early. In order to eat in the restaurants (which i recommend) you have to put your reservation in at the restaurant between 12:00-3:00pm the day of the reservation. There aren't many king rooms, we just pushed our 2 beds together and made a king. You can rent free snorkeling equipment (up to 1 hour) at the dive shop next to the pool, there is actually some neat stuff to see right out front of the resort! Bring your own volleyball - they have organized games, but it makes it much easier to bring your own if you like to play alot. A few tips about town: Stores are only open on days of the cruise ship (at about 9am) Rent a scooter or Jeep and explore the island - and if you get a chance stop at Coconuts Don't spend more than 80 pesos to get to town Try to run before 9am - it gets hot, fast Overall, you will love this place - I have been to many, and this was the best value hands down."

"Very Clean place. Variety of restaurants not so good. Had to book at noon and only took so many reservations. If you wanted a chair to sit in by the pool or beach had to go down by 5:00 in the morning. Drinks were ok. Had to pay $5 a day to workout in gym. No refrigerators in room. Overall all a very clean and safe place to stay but would not recommend it to friends."

"Overall the trip was very good, and we would definitely go back. We attended this resort as a group of 4 couples. The experience was great for the price. The resort was very crowded, and unless someone got up at 5am, we did not get lounge chairs for the day. One man in our group actually reserved some at 5am! The cleanliness was remarkable! We did not like having to be in line at 12 noon to make reservations at either the Italian or Mexican Restaurants. The Mexican Restaurant was bearable, but the Italian was delicious! The buffet restaurant could have expanded in the area of salads. Overall for the price, we will return."

"Like anyone out there I read reviews before visiting this resort. This was our second time to Cozumel but the first time to this resort. Hands down better than the other resort we stayed at last year. Water and snorkeling were INCREDIBLE. Saw new things every day we went out. The pictures we were able to get were amazing. The colors of the fish were AMAZING. Take a banana from breakfast to the water the fish will love you. The best snorkeling was right away in the morning. I do not know if it was the water temp or no people to scare them all away. The food was typical food you would get in Mexico but the group voted it the best we have had since visiting Mexico for vacations (some people 3 years now and others 10 years). The snack bar served amazing hamburgers and good hot dogs and nachos. The pizza was subpar but I had other options so oh well. The staff was very nice and we had by far the best bartender there. The room was always cleaned and a different towel critter was on our bed each day. I never felt worry of theft or anything. We stayed on the resort most of the time and saw a number of different creatures.pelican landing on the beach.multiple crabs of difference colors, and Iguanas. Yes the beds were firm but as someone else said in a previous review.I did not go there to lie in bed all day. There is not much right south of the resort. Everything we visited was north. Overall, you get much more for your money here than other places. I will definitely return to Cozumel.and hopefully next year. I will surely put this resort to the top of my list to stay at."

"Recently returned from Park Royal and overall it was a great trip. This is the first time we took our kids (ages 13 and 14) They had a blast and I cant say enough about the entertainment staff. They knew our kids by name and kept them busy all week long (thats tough to do at their ages) We have been to numerous all inclusives and this ranks up there with most others. If your reading this you probably want to know the pros and cons. Pros: Very clean, excellent staff, very 'islandy' resort, food was good but variety was not as much as others, drinks were good but you have to ask for top shelf/ name brands (plus we didnt drink as much as usual since we had the kids) great location and plenty of activities are available, very 'safe' to go off resort and most places are inexpensive, all tours and excursions are cheaper if you get them off the resort. (hotel staff will quote you much higher prices and its just as easy to get them right off the resort) Cons: the walkways throughout the resort including around the pool are made up of coral, rock, and concrete and not easy or comfortable to walk on. (women shouldn't wear heels because of all the holes and imperfections, very easy to turn an ankle. Beach is very small but works if your not wanting a beach to walk on. The sunsets are amazing but 5 out of 7 days the cruise ships are right in front and will block you from seeing them (no matter what floor your on, we were on the 8th). there are a lot of small fees that other resorts offer for free... safe deposit boxes, use of gym, WiFi, etc..., Overall we were very happy with the resort and definitely recommend it and would return but there are other resorts that are just a little nicer."

"This resort was an excellent choice. The Hotel & rooms were very clean. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The landscaping very well done so you did not even know there was a busy street in front of the hotel. The food was very good at the buffet. They tried to switch things up everyday with a different theme. I would definitely would stay there again. The only thing that could be a negative is if you have any walking issues or up and down steps. The enterance is set up that besides a VERY slow handicap elevator (like the ones used on stairs) the only way to the rooms were down 2 flights of stairs then you coulld use regular elevators to get to different floors in the Hotel. This also meant any luggage you had meant using the porters and tipping each time as it was almost impossible to do this yourself. So just plan for that if you go."

The food was actually very good lots of variety and service friendly and attentive. We love the smaller beach and the infinity pools. The only thing was the nightly entertainment. Just OK. We would go back. We Dive so we are not always on the grounds but the time we are their is wonderful. would also recommend that the bars carry some more High End Tequilas."

"Room was clean and spacious. Nice large bathroom. Could use more light in the bathroom around the sink area. Shower space was big. Food- needs improvement. Breakfast was very good. Lunch and dinner needs to have more choices. Granted we are in Mexico, however sometimes it's nice to have some food choices besides Mexican food. Need to offer more choices that are more American like ham or mashed potatoes or french fries for little kids. Pools were very cold. The beach area was clean and neat. Water was way to cold to enjoy in the pools."

"A great place to stay. They will try to get you to go on a Time Share tour but don't keep bugging you after you say no. If you want a Beach this isn't the place. There beach will fit in a half football field. So no stroles on the Beach of a morning or evening. A clean well kept, nice place to stay. It is clean with great service and friendly staff. The food isn't what you get at home but you can put on 10 lbs in a week without trying. We would go ther again. We left a tip on the bathroom counter and when we got back that afternoon it was still there so we had to tell the maid that we left her somthing so she would take the tips. A very enjoyabel week. Make sure you have transportation from the air port. There are no cabs from the airport but there are cabs to the airport. You will have to pay $10 per person for transportation but you can go on a tour of a resort and listen to there sales pitch and get a rental car for a day tickets for diferent things. The more you barter the more you get and you fair will get cheaper but you will waiste a day with the sales tour."

"This was our fourth trip to Cozumel but the first time here. I have stayed at the other resorts that charge twice as much per night. We were amazed at how this resort stacked up against the competition! The quality of food met or exceded the higher end resorts. The staff was excellent and we really liked how large the grounds were. There are many different little niche areas around the three pools so you don't feel like your at the same place everyday at all. I've read some of the negative comments on tripadvisor and other sites and to be honest I can't image any issue not being handled quickly and professionally. I suppose some people just must find some small detail to complain about! My wife and I will return for sure!"

"This is a great resort in which to stay if you are not hung up on late night activities. The resort is very clean, safe, and friendly. The food in the buffet is plentiful and has a good variety. There are two restaurants that require a reservation to get in. The Mexican was good, not great, with a limited menu. We didnt try the Italiian, as we heard it was not very good. There is a great little snack shop near the beach/swim up bar that serves burgers, hot dogs, nachos, chips, and veggies. We were in an ocean view room in the west tower. The room was very nice, with incredible views. Our room was next to the elevator, and we never even heard it. I do agree with an earlier review that no one ever told us that the room key has to be in the light slot to make the light work; we figured it out eventually. Bathroom lighting is not very good. Three minor irritants: no clocks in the room (I know, do you really need one on vacation?); they charge $2/day for the in-room safe; and no one in the resort can give you change for large bills (find a taxi driver, they have all sorts of change). We went in April and had no trouble getting pool side lounge chairs, and never felt crowded. My wife was there last year in Feb, and said that is was much busier. As pointed out by someone else, there is very little going on there after dark, so you pretty much have to take a 5-10 min taxi ride into downtown if you want to party after dark. To summarize: a very clean, friendly, and safe place to vacation; many outside activities just minutes away. As long as you are willing and able to say no to their time share pitches, its a very relaxing place to stay."

"I have not been to many all inclusive resorts, twice here to Park Royal Cozumel, once to Park Royal in Cancun and once to another all inclusinve on the Riviera Maya.
Park Royal Cozumel has its pluses and minuses but the pluses far outweigh the minuses. It is clean, the rooms are great and their is snorkeling right off the shoreline. There are six bars, two upscale resturaunts, the main buffet resturant, three snack bars, three pools, two 'cold' tubs and a small beach.
Our goal was to snorkel, sun and relax. For us Park Royal was a great choice.
The buffet is good and has a nice variety so surely even those who refuse to eat Mexican in Mexico could be satisfied. It is not high cusine but it is very satisfactory. The upscale resturants were outstanding. I would highly recommend the Cocunut Grouper with Mango Sauce in the Mexican resturant. Heavenly!
The staff was always friendly and quick to respond. Our bartender was friendly, the room always clean, the staff knew us and talked frequently with us and were quick to suggest places we might enjoy to eat or drink in town when we wanted to check it out. We were not bothered by time share people at all on this trip...in fact hardly saw any of the many 'representatives' who wanted to book you on side trips. The first time there was more of that but they always left us alone when we said we were not interested.
It is true that there are very few king size beds and all the beds have hard mattresses. I did streatching every morning to limber up after sleeping on them although by the end of the week my body adapted and I slept fine and woke up without tightness. I could have done with quieter speakers oceanside sometimes I snorkeled just to get away from the noise!
This is not a glamorous high end facility but you are not paying for one either. It is very nice, clean, fun, friendly and I think our second stay will not be our last."

"My trip to Park Royal Cozumel was spectacular, the staff was very friendly,
the food was was wonderful at the buffet and also at the two a la carte restaurants. We didn't have to go to the beach, we could find what ever we needed at the hotel within the three super pools. Very spacious and very clean rooms. Very safe place. The excursion to the Mayan ruins of Chichen-itza was a disaster, the company that provide the busses and the guide, Bus#39 were not professionals at all, all the time trying us to buy souvenirs at any place we arrived, it looks that he had a commission for every stuff that the tourists decided to buy, be careful with that. Other than that, I'll go over there again, but now with more experience.

"My fiance and I checked in on June 14 for a five-day, four-night stay to celebrate our anniversary. We checked out after one day at the resort thanks to the management completely mishandling a situation. There was a minor dispute between guests and, rather than handle the situation on-site, the manager called the police and sent both parties to the police department for interrogation. I thankfully speak Spanish and was able to defend myself and my fiance against a false accusation. The accusing party eventually apologized to us in front of the police. No report was filed and we were dropped back off at the hotel. We requested to check out immediately and that we be refunded for the three days we would not be spending at the resort. The manager (who had called the police in the first place and who did not hear the resolution of the incident) said this wasn't possible and continued treating us as if we were criminals. He became personally accusatory toward my fiance and even claimed he felt threatened when my fiance reached out and touched the manager's shoulder during their conversation. It seemed obvious that the manager did not want to give us a refund for the unused days and tried to avoid it by trumping up some charge and throwing us out of the resort. The situation was so ludicrous that we asked to speak to his superior, which we were told would not be in until 9am the next day. We spent a sleepless night waiting until the next manager came in. He helped us through the check-out and refund process without any problems. In the end, we had to pay in full (150 USD) for the night we spent at the resort, even though we spent an hour of the night at the police office, asked for immediate check-out and did not sleep a wink. Of course, we also lost all the money and time we put into traveling to Cozumel as well as our only week of vacation for the year. We are so incredibly disappointed at how the manager's incompetence escalated this otherwise simple situation into an utterly ridiculous spectacle. Obviously, no American wants to spend their vacation in a Mexican police office, particularly when decent hotel management makes police involvement totally and completely unnecessary. Aside from this awful, embarrassing situation, the lunch buffet is mediocre (Tex-Mex buffet? Please...) but dinner at the Italian place is of the quality one would expect from a resort that charges 150 USD per night. The beach area is beautiful, but the view of the sea is blocked by a giant cruise ship that is docked on the island all day. The swim-up bar is fun and the bartenders are very nice. I did not like how they have salesmen/women stationed around the resort trying to sell you timeshares and tours every time they see you. There was even a saleswoman stationed in the lobby of our hotel who stopped us each time we went up to our room. We eventually found a side door to avoid her. Maybe getting out of there when we did was a blessing in disguise, as we gotten roped into a sales pitch but left before our 'appointment' the next day. I have spent a lot of time in Mexico as a grad student and researcher. If you want to experience first hand a perfect example of Mexican machismo and how power can corrupt people, Park Royal can provide you that... free of charge. Our complimentary tour to the police office didn't cost us a dime! All sarcasm aside, this resort suffers from poor management on multiple fronts. Invest your vacation days at Park Royal Cozumel at your own risk...

"Overall, I will give this resort 4 points out of 5 because of the location. Snorkeling was the greatest part- the hotel offers 1hr free snorkel rental. The beach is very small - there is no walkable long beach- but so clean and lots of lots of FISH! which we enjoyed the most. The resort is so clean. its not the best but the staffs worked really hard to maintain the place so clean. Cons; 1. no refrigerator in room. 2. Towel service- only one Towel per person provided 3. No variety of the restaurants- one buffet and two A la carte.- one of them is Italian and Children under 12 not allowed to come so we couldn't go there. 4. No King bed- we have been waiting and waiting for the whole week but they never returned. seems like they do not have one there 5.Coffee not hot and not tasty. Do not expect Cappuccino. Its not fresh made coffee. i was quite disappointed. 6. Not Real fruit Juice. water down beverages. 7. Limited Activities. nightly show was not on everyday. some were for Karaoke nights which was only allowed to Adults. So there is nothing to do for Kids after the dinner."

"The resort Park Royal was great. Very well maintained and no matter who you ran into everyone even the vacationers were so friendly it was so nice. The Park Royal claims on their website they offer free internet...not so...it is $15 for every 24 hours. The fitness center is $5 a day. We feel both of these should be free to vacationers. The food was alright some better then others. The Italian restaurant I highly suggest we went twice. The rooms: Beds are hard as rocks and flat hard pillows. Very uncomfortable could not sleep well at all. When you first check into the resort they try SO hard to get you to sign up for their 90 minute presentation (as they call it) but it is nothing more than a hard sell for their timeshares! The entertainment staff for the beaches and the pool are out of this world and I highly suggest you look for 'Tony' he is fantastic!!! The Bars: Watch out for they do not skimp on alcohol. Great drinks though. TOURS: When you pay to go tour the 'Tequila Factory' be aware their is NO factory it is someone's house. Pretty informative but NO factory and no matter what or where everyone hits you up for tips!!! Not the resort but outside the resort. In all we would go again but to be honest we are tired of the Mexican vacations..."

"Park Royal was a beautiful resort. The rooms were large updated and very clean. The food was from great to nasty. Each morning we looked forward to eating omlets and fruit. For lunch we did not eat the buffet instead we walked right across the street to have lunch at Ernesto's. The lunch buffet didn't open until 12:30 p.m. At dinner, The Italian restaurant was not good but we ate twice at the Mexican restaurant, there was really good food and great service. The alcohol drinks were just not good. Beer was draft and hard liquor was cheep and watered down. Once again we walked over to Ernesto's for $2 bottle beer and good tequila. The hamburgers and hot dogs (tube steaks) at the snack bars were good. The pools were beautiful and clean the pool furniture was clean and very well kept. There was a unique tunnel that went under the street to get to the water and two pools. We will return because the price of the package was great. Working around the food and drinks was easy but you have to look for it. The Superbowl was the Sunday of our trip the resort set up a big screen TV in English
and they served bottle beer. That was a great gesture for football fans!
return to Park Royal because for the price we worked around the food and drinks."

"Just returned from 24th 2 week trip to Park Royal Cozumel. As usual, a perfect trip. Have been to 10 other hotels on Cozumel, but Park Royal is the best all around for the dollar. Others might offer some better this and thats, but you will pay much more. The staff makes you feel at home from the minute of your arrival. We have sent many friends, they all return. Becoming home away from home! Book-it does great job with travel details."

"My stay at Park Royal was amazing. It was my first time at an all inclusive resort, and I was very impressed. The food was very good and plentiful, as were the drinks. Swim up bars are my new favorite thing! The facility is beautiful and very clean. The staff are extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. I would recommend Park Royal to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun time. Once you get there, you don't have to worry about anything."

"My wife and I tried Cancun and we messed up. Cozumel and Park Royal are by far the only place to stay. We are already planning our next trip and you can bet, Park Royal is where it will start. Thanks for a great time and we will be back soon."
