"The pros: A great resort for resting and relaxation. The spa was wonderful and the food was great. The staff was very helpful and very friendly. The facility was always clean and easy to navigate. A very family friendly resort. Cons: My bed was as hard as a rock. I will need more massage vouchers from the spa to work out my kinks. This is a couples and family resort. if you are a single looking for conversation and finding friendly groups to do excursions with, I would suggest another resort. That is not a bad thing what so ever, just an observation. Over all, If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in a great setting, this resort did good by me."

"We stayed March 2-10-12. We had a deluxe garden view room which had a full kitchen, living/dining area, huge closets, bathroom and bedroom! The staff is AWESOME, some of the best! We had 2 days of wind/overcast which shutdown the evening outdoor restaurant and bar. Thus, only 2 bars open for evening, and had to wait 15 minutes for a drink! You would have thought that management would have put an addotional bartender at the 2 bars that were open! Also, the bars were LIMITED on pour alcohol (we were told by one of the bartenders that they are limited to 3 bottels per day)! Very dissapointed that when a bar opens at 6pm and by 9pm they're already out! The Cafe Parriso was AWESOME! We ate there 5 nights! The buffet in the morning was AWESOME, but the night buffet was fair at best! If you want to snorkel, walk south about 10 minutes south. BE CAREFULL of the rocks though!"

"Just returned from Cozumel on Feb 25th and I must say the Melia was more than what we could've asked for. I read a lot of reviews before I left and the most complaints were about the food and the beds. So let me address those concerns from my point of view. The beds are HARD! But you must keep in mind that apparently all of the beds are HARD in Mexico. The food was different. I say that because I think people expect the food to be just like it is here in the States and it won't be. For example, when I make a grilled cheese it's pretty much like every other American makes a grilled cheese. They made a sandwich with toasted bread, not melted cheese and poured Nacho Cheese over it. It wasn't horrible, it was just different. They don't fry their french fries or papa fritas as we do. So all I'm saying is, keep an open mind. We did a Vacation club (timeshare) thing at the Occidental and they provided us breakfast. Their food was exactly like the buffet food at the Melia. So from my understanding from talking to locals all of the buffet foods are the same. The drinks were absolutely fabulous. The bartenders were amazingly friendly, as well as, the entire staff at the Melia. I know people complained about the timeshare people bothering them, but I can personally tell you that my husband and I were there for 6 days and not once were we bothered. On the other hand, if you ask them questions they are more than willing to help you! We look forward to staying at the Melia for our future vacations."

Food was poor and staff poor compared to other resorts we have stayed at.

As we do not drink and I am diabetic the food is a big part of our experience. Good for a high school cafateria. Wieners and onions 4 days in a row, come on who eats that crap!

"We chose the Melia Cozumel Golf Al Inclusive resort because we had a good experience at the Melia resort in Cabo San Lucas and assumed Cozumel would equal our experience there. The only thing better at Cozumel was the beach area. Other than that, it was not a good experience for us starting with the check in process where we were informed we could upgrade our room to an ocean view for $40.00 a night instead of the usual $60.00. We said we booked a garden view, so would like to keep a garden view room. They said we would have to wait 20 minutes before we could get a room key. (It was already after 3 O'Clock). We said okay, so we found a bar and had a drink. When we went back for our room key, they said we could have a beautiful room with an ocean view for only $100.00 additional for the 7 nights. We again said NO, we wanted what we booked. Finally they gave us a room key. When we walked into our room, guess what? We could very clearly see the ocean, which made us wonder what was going on, but by this time we were tired and ready to start our vacation...well, the safe wouldn't close, so they had to come and replace a part in it. Then our remote for TV didn't work, so they came and replaced it...oh, and don't get me started on the food....same thing amost every day...and just try getting a reservation at either of the specialty restaurants. Even if you were the 4th person in line, the only choice was a 9 O'Clock seating. Several others at the resort agreed that this Melia did not measure up to other Melia resorts. Very much in need of a facelift. We also noticed that it was not handicap friendly. No bathroom available that didn't involve stairs except in ground floor rooms."

"This is truly a beautiful place, but we had issues right from the start. BookIt advertised a lot of things in our 'M experience' room that they no longer provide, including; 24/7 vacation assistance, M experience lounge, fruit basket on arrival, or concierge. We were quite dissappointed with these items not being available any longer, but the hotel was very apologetic and tried to make it right. They just aren't a 4 star or above hotel and I tried to believe that by buying the 'first class experience' with the M experience room that I would get something special. It didn't happen. What we got was a good affordable room in a beautiful place."

"My wife and I stayed at the Melia Cozumel from December 07th to the 14th. The resort was fantastic! First of all, the porters at the front entrance were extremely friendly and were so gald to assist us. The woman at the front desk was very friendly.

We loved our room. We had a garden room which was on the ground floor with our patio facing the Paraisio Restaraunt. It was great waking up each morning to the sound of the birds and watching the iguanas sunning near the koi pond. We especially enjoyed the HUGE iguana who made his home atop of the Paraisio Restarant. we named him 'Big Daddy Cool'!

The food was aveage to good and the drinks were excellent. The beach was average to good as the winds were quite strong on our first couple of days there which stirred up the sand and gave our water a browninsh color. The rest of the week the water was quite nice. I guess the only complaint that I can think of was the fact that there weren't enough restrooms. In my opinion there could have been a restroom or two closer to the beach so one wouldn't have to walk through the pool area and past the activities desk to use the restroom.

If one wishes to snorkel on Melia's beach, good luck. There didn't appear to be a reef right on our beach but if you walk 5 minutes south, past the breakwater, the snorkeling was quite good.

Overall, I would rate the resort an 8 out of 10 and would definitely go back.

"We visited and stayed in the Paradise Jacuzzi suite for our honeymoon in September 2011. We couldn't have imagined staying in a different room. We had the most spectacular view and the best beach access right from our room. The room could use some updating but the view and jacuzzi is so worth it. The resort it self was very charming and the staff was very friendly and eager to help. However, in my opinion the food didn't seem as fresh and delicious as it looked. My favorite part of the day was snack time when they prepared burgers and fries & chicken tenders etc.. right in front of you... Other than that I completely enjoyed our stay at Melia Cozumel and would definitely plan another stay with them!!!! I can't wait to go back!!!! "

"We stayed at this property November 2-9, 2010. It was worth every penny. It is located right on the beach and it is one of the nicer beaches. The bars and restaurants were all very accessible from the rooms or the beach. All the staff try very hard to accomodate the guests and the service from the wait staff to the people who tidy your room was just great. We are planning on going back to the Melia again and again."

"My fiance and I stayed at the resort for 6 days a week before Christmas. It was amazing. I loved the beach and everyone was so friendly. My only complaint is the temperature of the water in the adults-only pool with the swim up bar. It was a little on the frigid side, but other than that, everything was fantastic. I proposed while we were there so it will always be a memory of mine and I`m so glad that it was all positive. The golf course is awesome, too. It doesn`t get any better for the money. "

"My boyfriend and I just got back from a 5 night stay at the Melia Resort in Cozumel, Mexico. This was our very first trip to Mexico. I actually got online one day and happened to pick this hotel from Book it.Com. I randomly selected the hotel just by reviewing the few comments and pictures. I will say this is the cleanest and most friendliest staffed hotels that i have EVER been to.The staff was very attentive and barely had to ask for anything without someone asking if you needed anything first! There was a good selection of food and spirits. The live entertainment was decent. Every night there would be a different show or activity. They also have activities that you could do during the day. As far as the entertainment goes, my only complaints would be that there needs to be a guide and a group sign up so you can venture out into the city. There were taxis that would take you downtown at night but we were leary about going by ourselves. The only bar open at night was in the lounge and it was kind of quiet. A good idea or improvement that i would like to see would be a tiki bar or nightclub on the beach at night! The pool bars close a little too early for me! Also, if you don't have kids and are worried about kids ruining your trip, don't because they have their own pool and activities center, so literally you don't even realize that they're even there. I loved this place and would defintely go back one day. It was very relaxing and we could'nt ask for better weather. I rate this hotel a four out of five!"
