As a graduation present my parents took me to Cozumel. We stayed at El Cid and had a blast! All of the staff was so nice and treated us like family immediately. Vikki, Eli, Christian, Paul, Carlos, Gabo and many others were always happy to help us with whatever we needed and they were all so sweet everytime. The activities director, Adrian, especially was so much fun and took time on his day off to show us around the island with his family. While on the island we went snorkling, saw a bun... Read more

I stayed here last night with my family. We stayed on the ground level. They gave us a drink ticket for the poolside bar. We used the ticket, and then my husband ran back to the room to get a tip for the bartender. He took a few pesos out and left the rest on the dresser (about $400 US). While we were away someone (staff, guest, trespasser?) went in our room and took the money. Our things were also moved. We reported the incident to staff and we were told the security tape would be reviewed in ... Read more

This is a small hotel. It's nice enough but the price is too high for what you get. The staff are friendly for the most part. The food is quite bland and unremarkable. The location is okay but not great. The cruise ship pier is right next door and it blocks the view of the ocean. The room was okay but not great. The bed was kind of hard but not awful. It was a very average place.

Cozumel is such a lovely island, laid back, with the most beautiful snorkeling ever! El Cid La Ceiba is located a few miles from the downtown area, but it's very easy to catch a cab right outside the hotel. The hotel is adjacent to two cruise ship piers, and it was fun to watch the huge ships come and go from our balcony. There's a dock on the hotel property that allows tour boats to pick you up. Our 1 bedroom was clean and had a kitchenette with two burner stove, small refrigerator & microwave.... Read more

Very pleased!!‚?§ The food at the restaurant was top notch! Enjoyed everything I had. The activities were a lot of fun at this hotel as well. Movie night karaoke trivia night and beach bingo.

Just got back from a week of relaxing stay at El cid. We did not do the all inclusive as we traded under RCI and love the food in Cozumel. We dined one night at the hotel and it was fair but convenient as we going on a night dive. El Cid was a comfortable resort with very very friendly staff. Adrian was very helpful with local knowledge of places to see. And Paul was a great server. He kept the drinks coming. The rooms were very clean everyday. The had fun activities everyday. Its located around lots of food and shopping just walking distance. I recommend renting a scooter and exploring the island. We had a blast and would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody.

We enjoyed staying at this resort. It was relaxing, and the view was gorgeous. Cons: They never had enough towels. I stayed there 3 days and never got a towel, the "beach" area was not really a beach. It was very small and man made, I did not think the food was great. But I am a picky eater so you cannot go by me. The best night at the restaurant was the night they grill. Had a very good steak and my husband had a good hamburger. The all-inclusive plan did not include steak. WiFi signal was not... Read more

I come to Cozumel over and over again; I love this island! I've stayed in San Miguel, in various condos here and there, but this is my first time in a big resort. Overall, not bad -- it's right on the water with a nice little beach, there is beer on tap, it's a short taxi ride to town or to Sky Reef, which is fantastic for freediving. You can walk easily to Sunset Bar, and have 2 for 1 beers while watching the sun go down. The rooms are decent, and even come with a little kitchen and a blender. ... Read more

La Ceiba has been a Cozumel standard for decades. It's only gotten better with age. The rooms are very spacious and up to date. Optional kitchen is well done with all the appliances and utensils you need. Service is super. Very convenient to our favorite dive operator, Dive with Martin. An excellent bargain for the price.

We had a great time at El Cid. Ariel was very helpful, kind, and polite. He suggested some great spots to eat at and things to do. There is small rocky beach entrance that has great snorkeling, liits of fish (bring your own gear). They had one of the best breakfast buffets which is acompanied by a gorgeous beach view. The rooms are large and spacious.

We really enjoy the resort as a whole. The rooms were very nice and comfortable, the views were spectacular and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the food. The buffet was not very appealing unless you really just love Mexican Food. Other food choices were limited, so we pretty much ate the same thing every night. With the influx of people who visit El Cid, the menu should offer more options without the Mexican flare.

We've stayed there 3 times and will return again this winter. a taxi ride to town. Only downside is that a cruise ship parks in front of the sunset view, but they're often gone by sunset. It's fun for people watching. They also have a dock where your favorite dive or fishing boat can pick you up, or use their dive shop. Super friendly people. Clean accommodations.

Our first room was very outdated. The air conditioner was quite noisy and dripped condensation on the bed. The room was in a unique location which permitted you to hear the conversations at the restaurants as well as everyone entering the elevator/stairwell. The bathroom showed significant amounts of mildew/mold. But wait, it gets better. Around 11 pm we heard what sounded like our shower running and found water pouring down from the ceiling. Luckily we were upgraded to a room that had been rece... Read more

This is our fifth visit to Cozumel and our first at El Cid. The resort is clean and well maintained. The staff is excellent! The food here, in our opinion, is not the greatest and we are happy we didn't opt for the all inclusive. There is a grocery store very close and between snacks for the room, alcohol and beer, water and soft drinks we have managed fine. It's fun to visit local restaurants and sample the cuisine at them. The cost of food/drinks is very reasonable here (comparing American dol... Read more

Weeell. I stayed here for a week , and I was a little upset that there was construction going on in the wing I was placed . No where on there website does it mention anything regarding this. The place itself is ok. It is right across the water from a major cruise ship terminal . ( maybe 200 yards). At first the novelty of seeing these behemoth sea vessels is really impressive . About the third day of hearing the nonstop engines, ship announcements, becomes very trying . I will say The waitstaff ... Read more

We bought the Zip line and Beach visit from Carnival Cruise line and it was a great value. After zip lining, we were brought to El Cid and were treated to lots of perks. They gave us lots of credits for free towels & snorkel gear, discounts on spa & food. Well worth it! Very nice resort! Not a lot of beach front but the staff and amenities make up for it.

The rooms themselves are very nice.   The staff are very friendly and offer to help whenever they can. As far as dining is concerned, the breakfast at the resort is nice, and lunch was ok, but I did not really enjoy dinner there. I would not do the all-inclusive option if you can avoid it and then go out to eat for dinner. There are plenty of nice dining options within easy walking distance from the resort. The dive operations are small, but nice and we were able to get some good dives... Read more

We recently stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with a family of 4 through an RCI trade. It worked out great other than I wish there would have been one of the rooms with double beds rather than both being kings. There was no way our 16 year old daughter would let her 10 year old brother sleep in her bed. We utilized the pullout couch which was okay for a 10 year old but there is no way an adult could have slept on it. It was very uncomfortable. There is currently construction at the resort but it d... Read more

two problems - 1st I think we had the smallest room in the hotel with only a Murphy bed and a huge dining room table and seating for 6. Absolutely no room to move around or see the TV from the one comfortable chair 2nd it is always annoying to be pushed to see the promotion of the resort and sales presentation when we already have ownership in other properties. I guess you can say no but sometimes easier said than done.
