The accomadations were excellent, but what I feel really can make or break your vacation is the staff. The staff goes above and beyond what I expected. By the third day of my trip they knew what beverage I wanted as soon as they saw one of our party. Great trip thinking about going back in October."

"This is our 3rd stay at El Cid and every time has been excellent. The staff is definitely what makes El Cid so enjoyable. They are so friendly and accomodating. The bellboys are ever present to carry all your luggage at all times. The desk staff are great. They are so helpful and answer all your questions and resolve problems with such patience. They do everything to make your stay pleasant. The restaurant staff are my favorite. They are such a great group of waiters and waitresses. They work very hard, are fun loving, and provide the very best service. The groundskeepers do a beautiful job of keeping the resort clean & beautiful. It is unfortunate that guests cannot be more helpful in keeping the resort clean and stop feeling so entitled just because you are on vacation. The maids do an excellent job. The cute towel origami is such a nice touch and putting down the bedding in the evening with chocolates is a nice gesture. The only thing that took some getting used too was every morning at about 6:15 am we would be awakened by the staff getting ice from the ice room, shoveling ice into buckets to prepare for, what we assumed was for breakfast. We just considered it our morning wake up call. We definitely would recommend this resort to anyone wanting a good resort experience."

"My partner and I applied for the all-inclusive option for this resort. This was an excellent experience for my first time at a resort. Check in was very welcoming. We were received with smiles, jokes and fruit punch. We were then directed to a guest services attendant who gave us an overview of what was available on the island.

El Cid's location was very convenient. Five minute taxi drive from downtown (about 45 min walk). It's close enough to the main snorkeling areas and not too far from main amenities and shopping. It was also closest to many of the excursions that were available. In fact, El Cid provided a small area where you could swim out to see and snorkel without going on an excursion.

However, El Cid's ocean view is half blocked by a relentless stream of cruise ships that dock nearby. I didn't find it too big of a deal.

The fact that the resort was small was to its advantage. It wasn't too busy and had a more personal feel.

The resort was clean, open and more modern than what we were expecting. The photos are not a good representation of the calm and jovial atmosphere at the resort.

I was most pleasantly surprised by the food service. I am told most resorts just offer buffet. However, El Cid offers a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although the items weren't extremely unique, there was always a more 'traditional' option and the classic dishes were very well done. One night, they offered a buffet with traditional mexican food. The flan that I ate was the best I have ever had. I also suggest the crepes and chocolate sacher. Even though it was all inclusive, lobster and filet mignon and some shrimp plates will cost extra.

My time at El Cid was relaxing and satisfying. I would definitely go back to El Cid for my next trip to Cozumel."

"Beautifully kept hotel overlooking the sea. Very modern rooms and beautifully kept grounds. Staff is very attentive to your needs. Restaurant serves excellent breakfasts.

The dive shop's boat was down for repairs but they still accommodated

us. We had an excellent diving experience!
