"My boyfriend and I went to Cancun from May 1st-8th and booked a one-bedroom villa. We loved it!! This is a timeshare property, but that did not do anything to diminish it's overall appeal. We checked in and were offered a room overlooking the pool with an oceanview. Unfortunately, the view was on the opposite side of the building and overlooked a dumpster, the hotel next door, and a sliver of the ocean. I went back down and after ~10 minutes of discussion, they were able to offer me an amazing room (#973) the next day. We left our luggage at check-in the next morning and picked it up after our excursion of the day. Our new room had the most amazing view! We overlooked the 'new phase' pool and had a beachfront view of the ocean. Unlike our other room, the morning sun did not stream in through the windows, but beautifully accented the wonders outside. The bathroom was huge with double sinks, a walk-in shower, and a 2 person jetted tub. The bedroom had lots of storage, a flat-screen TV with Blu-Ray DVD player, and a balcony with 4 chairs and a table. The kitchen was a good size and had a full sized fridge, range/oven, microwave, and a double sink. There was a 6 person dining table that separated the kitchen from the living area. The living area had ample seating room with a queen-sized pull out couch (which we didn't use, so I can't comment on comfort), a chair, and coffee table, along with another flat-screen TV and DVD player. There was a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows at the end of the living room that provided the most beautfiul view of the ocean!! We had great service our whole trip. The waiters very attentive and friendly. The cleaning ladies did an impressive job. The bellmen were always helpful with getting us cabs and giving us directions. We didn't use the concierge, but they were very popular front what we could tell. As for the cost of things at the resort: We had breakfast one day at the Oceano Restaurant. The buffet was decent tasting with a great variety and included mimosas and bloody marys. It was somewhat expensive at around $30 per person. We heard that the drinks were also steeply priced, so we just bought alcohol from local stores and brought our own drinks down to the pool/ocean. The water at the market was reasonably priced, though the rest of their items were not. The pools at this time of year were very available with plenty of open pool chairs. The hot tubs were fun, but weren't really 'hot.' The ocean had red and yellow flags the whole time (red = no entry, yellow = extreme caution), but we enjoyed getting in the water without any problems. They did have lifeguards on duty as well. There was a fair amount of seaweed, but it was tolerable. The hotel is located across the street from La Isla Mall. There are LOTS of stores and restaurants in there. But it is obvious that they catered towards tourists, so there weren't a lot of deals to be had. (Stores included: Nike, United Colors of Bennetton, Apple, etc.) Because of our flight, we had to check out at 3AM. Although my boyfriend went down to the front desk the night before to ask for someone to come up and help us with our luggage and also to have our charges printed out and ready for our early morning departure, these things were not prepared. It didn't take very long for us to check-out, but it would've been nice to have been helped with our luggage. Overall, we enjoyed staying here. It had a great location, beautifully appointed rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and plenty of amenities. For those interested in an 'all-inclusive' vacation, this is not the resort for you. For anyone who wants a wonderful hotel and the freedom to eat and drink at any of the yummy local restaurants as well as the ability to cook your own food if interested (or grill)...look no further!"
