"This was not our first trip to Mexico, but not one of our best. Apon arrival, the staff was not friendly or welcoming. We experienced workers carrying on personal conversations while we waited to be helped on several occasions during our stay. We always travel with another family and because of the children we always request the rooms to be close by. However, this time we were not accomodated-we were actually a hallway apart. On several occassions, we had to call for extra linens and sometimes just for wash cloths that were not left in our room at all. It was very difficult to get dinner reservations in the hotel because by the time we arrived on Tuesday everything was already booked. The activites for the children were very difficult to arrange. We have teenagers, but most activites needed a parent signature. This was not relaxing for the parents. At one time, they were denied using equipment beause they had already used it, for a short period, earlier in the day. The again is not very relaxing for the parents who depend on these activites for the entertainment of the children. I would not recommed this establishment for teenagers who like to be active. Even with the photos the children did with the animals at the hotel was a project. Again, on several occasssions, for various activies and services, we were told to come back in 30 minutes for help without success when we returned. We found that a large party of 8 was very hard to accomadate in this facility-even when we requested to be put into two groups of 4. Even in the spa, we were not greeted friendly by the staff when we were booking services we were paying for. We do a lot of traveling and this was our first experience with both BookIt and the Resort. Unfortunately, this was not the great vacation we had expected."

"It was my first time out of the country without a tour group. My friend and I signed up for the shuttle before we arrived. It was wonderful! We got an email saying what the shuttle service would be wearing and where they would be waiting to ensure we were with the right people. It was perfect and took the stress out of trying to find a cab and then the hotel. Check in was wonderful. We were handed drinks as soon as we got in line. We were told it would be 15 minutes before our room would be ready, so we ran to grab some lunch, then went back to the room. The room was still not ready. We did not get in until 2 hours after check in. Besides that, everything was FABULOUS! I was surprised how clean the resort was for being mostly outdoors. The staff who do the activity lessons are wonderful and the drinks are great. The restaurant was amazing, and the food was terrific. The food at the buffet was like a cafeteria, but everything else made the resort well worth it. If I could have stayed longer I definitely would have!!"

"My husband and I recently returned from a week at the resort for our honeymoon. This was my first experience with all inclusive travel, so I really have nothing to compare it to, but we had an amazing time! We know going in that it was a 4 star resort and we got a really good deal, so it was better than we expected for the money we paid. There were so many activities offered at the resort and we always had things to do. We rode on a catamaran, went kayaking, and watched most of the nightly shows. The staff were wonderful and helpful whenever we needed them. The only two things I can complain about are the pillows (about an inch thick), and the price of things on the resort, like $16 usd for a bottle of sunscreen, as well as hourly prices for internet (which was extremely slow and didn't offer skype). Other than that, everything was better than we could have asked for! Oh, and the food was ok...not great. There was no aircon in the buffet dining room so it was super hot in there! I would still recommend the resort to travelers who can't afford 5 star. "

"Just went for a long weekend with my boyfriend (ages 29 & 35) and would not return or recommend to a friend. We waited for 2 hours for our room to be ready, while still in our jeans and traveling clothes so we were so hot. There arent many activities throughout the day, nor is there much going on before 11pm for younger people. The club part is only open from 11m-2am so unless you eat dinner and sit in the lobby bar (the only thing open at that time), theres nothing else going on. Also, one of the main reasons I chose this resort was because there was a swim up bar, except it was so swamped with children that we couldn't even get to it so we continually got out of the tiny pool to go inside for beverages. For an all inclusive resort, there are a lot of restrictions on what you can/can't get and what times. 3 out of the 4 restaurants were reservation only, but we were only allowed 1 reservation for the 3 days we were there. So, we were stuck eating at the same buffet for every meal, which, was so hot that we were too miserable to even eat. The 2 positive things I have to say are that the food is good and the beach is clean."

"My husband and I went to Hotel Viva Wydham Maya for our honeymon in Sept 2010 and had a fantastic time. It was our first visit to Mexico and we would definitley go back, but maybe stay in their Sister Hotel just down the road, purely for a different experience not because there was anything wrong with where we were. The weather wasn't brilliant as it was during the rainy season, but there was so much to do throughout the day it didn't spoil our experience at all. The only problem we encountered was noise from adjoining rooms as the wallls are very thin and sound proofing is non existent (make sure you take some ear plugs for a good nights sleep). We found the food very presentable and there was plenty of choice at the buffet for all tastes and appetites. The food in the restuarants was very good, as was the service. We did plenty of activities whilst we were there including, wind surfing, tennis table tennis, used the gym, dance lessons etc but the best part of the holiday for me was learning to 'fly the trapeez' it is something I have always wanted to do and couldn't believe that I had the opportunity to do so under very helpful supervision. The guys were very patient and encouraging. The entertainment in the evening was very professional and was different every night for the 2 weeks we were there. Would definiatley recommend as a holiday destination. A wonderful experience all round!!"

"Our overall experience was good. The hotel was very organized and the staff was excellent!! The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. The food was alright nothing really to brag about and the buffet wasn't air conditioned which made eating a little uncomfortable. Eating at the snack bar was more enjoyable and very convenient. For the price I would definitely stay again. "

"Our stay was pretty good, the hotel was okay-nothing crazy. They could have more activities, they have a club but it was always empty. If you dont like resorts with a lot of children, dont go here. Dont book any tours at the hotel either- its cheaper outside the hotel. Overall we would give the hotel a 6 out of 10. Only because it wasnt terrible, but it wasnt the best. Next time we go to Playa del Carmen, we'll probably stay at a different hotel. Do go to xel-ha or xcaret. The Coba ruins are great to see, just be prepared to walk! "

"Just returned from my trip to Viva Wyndham Maya, all I can say is WOW! What a great value for the price. I went with my boyfriend and we're between the ages of 23-30. The location could not be any better and everyone was wonderful. I've never seen people work so hard. I have also never seen a beach as nice as this. Definitely a memorable trip! "

"I spent a week at the Viva Wyndham Maya in July 2010 with my boyfriend, his twins and my two kids. It was a fabulous week!



We asked for adjoining rooms and double beds and our requests were filled! It was wonderful! The resort is compact which was great for us since we had 3 seven year olds with us. The staff members were friendly, courteous, funny and made the vacation even more memorable. The bartenders were quick to make mango smoothies for the kids and they were yummy...the adult beverages were good too! Food and drinks were available around the clock, which was a nice surprise!



Take a walk down the beach and check out the Viva Wyndham Azteca! It's a pretty resort and we thought it was fun to check out a different resort for a few hours...plus the walk on the beautiful beach is wonderful!



The buffet restaurant is not air conditioned and we were miserable during our first meal. We decided to sit by the windows the rest of the week and it was quite comfortable. We enjoyed the a la carte restaurants but wish we could have eaten at them more than 3 times during the week.



The shows were something we looked forward to each night! It was a great way to end the day with our kiddos.

"My sister and husband flew from Ohio and met us here at the Wyndham. The guys drank beer and smoked cigars on the beach. The girls went biking,hiking,snorkeling,shopping,shows,spa treatments and more. Had a blast. Trying to book for February 2011. LOL"

"I went to this resort for my 31th birthday in Feb. 2010 and we had a blast. The staff was friendly. The beach was a bit too cold maybe because of the time of the year but it look amazing. The rooms were okay nothing to brag about it. The food was not the best. I enjoyed all the activities and the location of the resort. I would recommend this resort "
