I recently returned from one week here with my husband, 3 year old daughter and infant. We were regular guests (not royal elite or select club). The jungle feel of the resort is certainly unique compared to our experience at other all inclusives. Here's a few thoughts from our visit: Pros - so many activities! If you like having things to do definitely choose this resort - very friendly staff - never a problem finding chairs at the beach or pools - evening entertainment shows were well done - g... Moderately priced with airfare & roundtrip transfer, we stayed for 9 nights in January 2016. Our trip was booked & purchased through Travelocity. Here is a summary by category of our experience. Children vs. Romance ‚?? Sandos Caracol Eco is definitely a more family friendly resort. While we do not have a problem with children running around during the day, we definitely prefer adult only time in the evening. So if you want romantic, child free this is not the place for you. However if you hav... Read more

Overall a nice resort. Enjoyed the pool but the beach was not that great at all. Loved the monkeys and animals that were around the resort. The a la carte restaurants we attended were very good, but did not enjoy the buffet. There was not much of a variety of foods at the buffet.

There are a lot of amazing things that deserve 5 stars but also some negative issues that spoil overall impression. The great things Sandos Caracol can be proud of are: 1. Yoga classes. The classes are designed to satisfy yogis of any level (from very beginning to advanced) and take place 6 days a week for 1-2 hours. The instructor Juan Carlos is a true guru - professional, inspiring and encouraging, with very positive attitude and strong intention to make his students healthier and happier. He... Read more

We just traveled to Sandos Caracol Eco Resort May 14 to May 22, 2016. We found the resort to be excellent. The food was great. We especially enjoyed the Vegetarian Restaurant, great job Armando. The Japanese restaurant was delicious and since I have allergies they made my food separate and I found that to be excellent service. The Brazilian restaurant was very filling if you love meat, you will try everything on the menu, so be hungry. The staff at the Brazilian were excellent. Our room alwa... Read more

We stayed in a basic room. It was not fancy but it had everything we needed, air conditioning, cold water, hot shower, comfy beds, T.V, a safe, a window and a balcony. Our days were so relaxing yet filled with fun. The beach was so nice, there were lots of places to set up along the way, nice sandy spots, with calmer waters, and some rockier parts with rougher waters. It was perfect for snorkling, swimming, or just going for a quick dip to cool off. When you were done at the beach, you could m... Read more

I really enjoyed this unique resort!! There were 2 things that I didn't care for 1. The frozen drinks were terrible!! They have a bitter stevia aftertaste to them. All of them!!I ended up drinking pepsi.(please fix this Sandos) This would be my reason for not returning. So disappointed:( 2. This is little.. No guacamole at the snack bar EVERYDAY! IT WAS SO YUMMY!I wanted to cry for four days it wasn't there:( The food at the restaurants was excellent! We loved all of them(not international bu... Read more

i traveled to Playa del Carmen and stayed at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort with my two daughters (age 6 and 9) and they absolutely loved it. They loved the property, the pools, the waterpark, the beach, the animals, the entertainment, loved it all. I will definitely agree with the beach at the sister property Sandos Playacar being 100% better, and it's worth the $13 car ride. Hands down the staff were very accommodating and helpful, always greeted us with smiles. Cons: The AC in our room didn't... Read more

Honeymoon couple - There is a adult only side of the resort, I strongly advise this ! As there are children everywhere, that said the resort has many quite spots where you can escape away from the hussle and bussle of the resort. We stayed here with friends. The experience was great. It wasn‚??t your typical beach hotel (so if you want that, perhaps consider another place), but it was as advertised and a lot of fun. The service was great. For example, one server in the main buffet (Florecita) noticed one evening that I wasn‚??t finding something I wanted to eat. (Me being picky; there was plenty to choose from.) We stayed at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort from Sunday to Thursday. It was our first trip to Cancun and our first all-inclusive. Pros: All-inclusive was great. Rooms were nice and cool Check in/out were very fast and efficient Pools were nice, not too crowded Beach was good despite a few rocks Ala carte restaurants were good. No wait times, at all. Shows, though cheesy, were entertaining. Bell hops were super friendl... Read more

Just come back from 2 weeks at this resort . First ever time in Mexico and loved every minute of it. Photos do no do this place justice it's so much more beautiful in person. Built In To the mexican jungle with lots of well looked after animals just roaming free around the resort. We stayed in the adult section as didn't bring the children, but lots of children there and plenty for them to do. Room was spacious, clean, beds comfortable, cleaned every day. Fridge and mini bar re-filled everyday. ... Read more

Was an ok experience at Sandos, don't think we will be back tho. We did have fun at the resort but there were somethings that just kinda were annoying to recommend this place Pros - food was decent lots of animals on the property There was a cenote on the property to swim in (was refreshing) the beach had lots of fish to see. Had a kids club Cons - check in was a horrible experience. We were not the only ones I saw a lot of families upset with checking in. It took us two hours to ... Read more

This resort is incredible, I've stayed in a lot of nice resorts and for me this tops all others. It's a huge place with so much to do and kept to a beautiful standard. Rooms are clean and roomy with a maid service daily. The staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful. There are so many restaurants to choose from and the food is incredible I had the best fillet steak in the fish and steak restaurant - fillet steak at restaurant quality!!! There's so many animals to look at, rescued donkeys, ... Read more

Very disappointed! The rooms need a lot of work. Some walls look like they are falling apart. I can't believe that it's a family resort and the bathrooms don't have a door. A lot of the staff seemed bothered by the guests questions. The food overall was good. The beach is horrible! Dirty and rocky. I won't stay here again. The prices at the gift shop are outrageous. ($12 for a bag of Doritos!) no way!

We are just over halfway through our 2 week holiday here at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. We are travelling with Thomas Cook who advertise this hotel as 4*. Hotel is not 4* standard. Rooms are tired and shabby with broken furniture, wires hanging out of walls etc. Our room has flooded twice due to dodgy air-conditioning. Outside our door is what looks like sewage - reported to Thomas Cook rep a week ago, still there now. After the last flood we have been offered a room change but are expected to... Read more

This is a fun family resort. My kids love the kids club and the staff is good with the kids. The nightly entertainment is good. The food is great with a lot to choose from. The restaurants on the resort serve delicious dishes. Animals roam the resort and that's cool to see. The entire resort staff is friendly.

After reading many reviews prior to our arrival I was kind of nervous. First thing I want to say, if you are already booked, stop reading reviews! It was not perfect or great but had plenty of really good features that give it a "very good" rating. We stayed in a standard room 2 kids, 2 adults, section 26 (I asked for renovated room, couldn't tell if it was but it was "ok"- small leak in one of the sinks but just put towel and dealt did not bother to switch rooms), which was close to everyt... We visited this hotel in June 2016. My kids 2 and 4 really enjoyed the hotel and the activities. The animals were the highlight of the hotel. There are wild animals all around the property: tejon, deer, monkeys, peacocks, donkeys, pigs, sheep and others. Some of them are rescue animals so is good to see that the Hotel is doing good things. Pros: Wide variety of food selection. Different restaurants will sure please most of your needs and cravings. Is not the most expensive hotel so it may fit ... Read more

This resort is amazing. There is more to do to than the week I was able to stay. The staff is great, the rooms were beautiful and the resort itself is the best part. The shows were fabulous, very professional. The only reason I didn't rate a five is the food could be better. It's not bad, but it needs work.

Went with wife and our kids (4,6). Stayed in family section. The resort is very beautiful. The first few days be ready to be very confused on the routes to everything. After a few days you learn the short cuts and makes finding everything tons easier. Main cenote was amazing. Main pool was terrible. The main pool was very busy with people and tons of gunk floating around. I know I was at the resort in heat of summer but water in main pool was like bath water. The smaller pool la turga... Just come back from the Sandos Caracol. Have a a wonderful time, staff can't do enough for you always happy. While staying there also see management giving the local children of the area day pass to The hotel and prizes as they sponsor local schools just like to say keep this up. The hotel is always very clean and the shows are excellent, food in all the restaurants also excellent rooms are very clean, I would recommend this hotel for all ages. I don't know where to start, i could literally write a book on how bad this place was but i don't want to be reminded of my horrific experience so will keep it as short as i can. If i were to compare this hotel to something of equivalent standard in the UK it would be a prison. Although British prisons would probably be a lot cleaner. I paid over £2500 for me and my partner to go here and expected high standards, my god i was wrong. We were given a tiny room with two double beds, a balcony ... Read more

My stay at this resort was FANTASTIC! Right from the moment we checked-in the staff were friendly and courteous and we were blown away by the lengths of their knowledge and helpfulness. Our room had every convenience you can imagine for the price, but the truth is that I spent very little time there as the resort was so vast but packed full of activities that I spent most of my time doing those. Kayaking, swimming in not one but three cenotes (freshwater pools exclusive to the Riveria Maya), tab... Read more

My family was part of a large group that stayed for a week. Throughout the week we enjoyed good food. We had a great experience at the Japanese restaurant and their food was the best on the resort. The steakhouse by the beach was also very good but service was a little slow. The buffets are what you expect at a resort. The people were also very friendly and if you need a ride on a golf cart due to the size of the resort just ask. I got a massage at the spa and everything was nice there. I... Read more

First let me thank the staff, they were absolutely lovely. The grounds were amazing and the activities were plentiful. The only downside is, that the select club pool could be cooler and cleaner and the food in the snack bar could be better covered. but if that is all I have to groan about a two week holiday in luxury I'll take it. If your going for the beer then here is perfect proper servings and proper sizes very pleased. Well done sandos

I felt terrible for the deers trapped in a pit for no reason at all. Some of the birds are so stressed that they are plucking their own feathers out. Its totally unnecessary to have trapped animals to be a eco resort. First try to be a resort. Our rooms were not nice. we were lied to by hotel staff while booking. Promised ocean front rooms, but upon arrival there were none. We did enjoy the floor shows, the drinks at the lobby bar, and the wild animals that came out to eat a few meals from the ... Read more

I combed the reviews for months prior to our vacation and had certain expectations in my head. Some of which were surpassed and others fell short. To save time I will just summarize: Food- we expected medicore at best and was pleasantly surprised. Tied as our favorites ironically were the Vegetarian and the Steakhouse. Least favorite was the Brazillian. The 'show' was decent in the Japanese but service was not good there at all as they were trying to get you in and out. Beach- we expected ... Read more

We stayed at this resort for two weeks, from Manchester with Thomas Cook. We stayed in building 68, in the Select Club (Adults only area) which was awesome. Food across the resort was great (perhaps with the exception of the International buffet.) Our room was really comfortable, good wifi coverage and close to the pool. Our favourite restaurants were by far the Steak restaurant and the Italian. The tepinyake restaurant is phenomenal, but book as soon as you arrive to ensure you can eat here. ... Read more

Was well worth the money. Exceptional assistance and no issues with anything. Food- 3 of six we exceptional loved. All inclusive- more than you need. Alberto Guerra-took really good care of us. We became members. Mosquitos- not an issue even with it being in a jungle atmosphere. If you are going only adults choose the select club to stay away from kids. Also visit the other resort Playacar Sandos where we visited one day and will return to this resort.

We enjoyed our stay here Sandos Caracol, from stepping up to the reception desk to check in until the final check out. Greeted with fresh juice and friendly service. My husband and I traveled with another couple. Our room was not ready at the time of check in, due to those ahead of us not checking out. The female manager stepped in and helped us get settled in. She made sure our stay was all that we had anticipated. The rooms are dated some but very clean. We stay in the adult side only... Read more

We had a good time at the resort, the waterpark was great the cenote was a new experience and seeing all the animals on property was a nice bonus. The Mexican buffet ended up being our favorite restaurant not to mention the closest to us without an hour wait. The staff was great, all very friendly! If you are looking for a beach vacation you'll need to look elsewhere. This beach is full of rocks, there are some small patches without. The rrom is regular, nothing fancy, has a lot of airconditioning problems, and problems with the amenities. The hotel facilities are in bad shape, so it only deserves 2 stars or less. However the hotel itself has plenty entertaining activities to do inside the hotel with no aditional cost. Which gives it a third star.

They did a great job of separating the family and adult's sections of the resort and the beach, which makes it very easy to relax. The beach is about a 5 minute walk from the adult section, but that's hardly a chore. Food quality and choice was really good. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Firstly, a little about us! We are a UK family of 4, with a 16 year old and a 5 year old. This is our second visit to the resort although we were only a 3 when we last visited 6 years ago. We've just returned from a 2 week stay today (28.07.2016) Summary. This is a brilliant family hotel that is ideal if you are travelling with kids of say under 10 or 12 years. There is loads to do and for us the hotel is interesting, with great staff and in our opinion really excellent food. We'd go back... Read more
