This was our first trip to Cancun and staying at the Riu Palace Pennisula was the best decision my boyfriend made to stay here. We have been back a week and I miss this place already. From the moment we entered the hotel the staff were welcoming and friendly. Thank you to Manuel at check in who upgraded our room for better wifi connection and Alex who was from Brazil and gave us a glass of champagne and told us about the best place to go for souvenirs. He even gave us a voucher to get 40% off so... Read more

If anyone is thinking about going to this hotel my advice would be book it now. We were there for 14 days with friends who decided to get married while we were there. It was the most glorious day and setting. Laura the wedding planner at the hotel was first class and nothing seemed to be too much trouble to her. The hotel itself is magnificent. Lobby, reception, rooms all beautiful and kept to a very high standard thanks to all the very hard working staff. Even the grounds round about the pools ... Read more

We were referred here by many people. We stayed in the Villas which is the VIP section. It had a king sized bed and had its own bar and pool. The air conditioner worked great. Wifi was slow during dinner hours but we were able to stream multiple shows on netflix and movies without any problem during other hours. The wifi is unlimited. There were many restaurants but the food all seemed a bit repetitive at each one. Which would make sense because they come from the same pantry. The buffet is wher... Read more

We travel to Mexico each spring and have stayed at quite a few of the resorts in Cancun, Riviera Maya, and Playa Del Carmen. I have never seen this many shades of beautiful blue in the ocean anywhere else in Mexico! The Riu Palace was updated and well- kept. The customer service was phenomenal. We stayed for 5 nights late May and early June. We only made it to two of the restaurants, the Mexican and the Italian- both were great but the buffet was so absolutely amazing that we had to go back! I ... Read more

From the second my best friend and I walked in, we were greeted by drinks and the front desk said our room was ready (almost 3 hours early!). The hotel pretty much as all ocean view rooms that overlook the 5 pools. I have been to several RIUS but this one by far had the best food and service. The steak, Mexican and Italian speciality restaurants were our favorites. Marlene from the buffet was the sweetest and always remembered that we liked orange juice and coffee at breakfast. This hotel is simply stunning and the food is fantastic. The manager - Alba is a credit to the hotel. Was an absolute pleasure to be at the RIU palace peninsula. The views were incredible from the top floors and this is one of the best hotels I have ever been to. The fact that you can go into the other Riu's in cancun is also an added bonus.

BRING PLENTY OF SUNBLOCK! If you have to buy sunblock at the hotel it's like $40 for 2 bottles! You can however walk about 4 minutes down the street and get it cheaper. We just got back from a 7 day trip here and I couldn't be more happy about staying here. There is more than enough staff to keep everything clean, keep the drinks in your hand and keep you fed. They upgraded us to a Villa since it was for our anniversary. Our 18 year old and her friend stayed in a regular room on the second fl... Read more

Before arrival, we sent email to request higher floor and have our 2 rooms next/closed to each other. I received a response back almost within a couple hrs. By the time we arrived at the resort, our rooms were ready and we were sent to room 931 and 933. Check in was quick ( took about 10 min max ). The front desk employee are very professional and respectful whenever we have any special requests ( and I made quite a few trips down for special requests, peso exchanges ..etc.. ) Food was fanta... This is our 2nd visit to this amazing hotel. I totally agree with all the positive reviews. We took my partners 24 year old son and he had an amazing time. Again choice of food, drinks just superb. Hotel is spotless. Beach amazing. Staff can't do enough for you. Always so helpful and cheery. A special shout out to Samuel in the main buffet restaurant. What a funny and every so friendly guy. We always looked forward to him serving us at our table. I could go on and on about this amazing pl... Read more

Stayed for 4 nights on a couples long weekend get-a-way for Labor Day Weekend. Great time of the year to visit. Crowds are low and weather is amazing. This resort is fabulous. Service is outstanding and food is superb everywhere on property. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because. The rooms are decorated kinda cheesy (mix between miami vice and "hourly hotel" room) and there is not a lot to do at night in this particular hotel, no clubs etc. Although I believe you have the right... We found that while the hotel's decor was not necessarily our style, it was modern, well-maintained and the grounds beautiful! The staff was very attentive and accomodating. They were very pleasant and eager to satisfy every request. We enjoyed several of the restaurants at the hotel. Especially liked the Kullinarium. Despite the fact that there were lots of people, the beaches were not terribly crowded when we went. Loved the view from our room! Got to watch two beach weddings. Had a few issue... Read more

Greeted by the bell captain when we arrived. Check in took quite some time and there is a very strict 3PM rule for getting into your room. We were able to eat lunch and walk the property. Our room was on the 2nd floor above the theater and we had a corner balcony. The view was amazing! We never really had an issue with the noise at night. The music ended just after 11. This hotel is beautiful, but I had quite a few issues. Upon arrival, I had booked a room with a king size bed. However, said room was unavailable and I was "upgraded" to an ocean-front (can't complain about the view) with two full sized beds which were joined. My husband and I ended up sleeping on one bed because if we tried the middle we would fall through the crack that divided both beds. This was my first all-inclusive vacation and I loved it! The only improvement for me would be the times of the nightly entertainment. It was way to short and limited. We stayed for 2 weeks in this hotel in a junior suite in the 8th floor. The suite with A/C was very spacious and beautiful. There was a nice jacuzzi just next to our king size bed. What I liked most about the suite was the incredible view to the pool area and the beach. The private beach is very nice, it consists of two parts, the front part with lots of beach chairs is smaller and the other part has big rocks but just by the sea there's sand. Modern hotel , all areas spotlessly clean, beautiful grounds . "Speciality " restaurants need to read up on how they should serve guests . Plates removed before the other guest had finished eating. I had to ask for new cutlery twice for my main course as they expected me to reuse from my stater!!! We tried all the speciality restaurants but the Main restaurant my favourite by far. Just returned from 2 weeks at the Riu Palace Peninsula and overall it has been fantastic. Me my partner and our 2 year old boy traveled with numerous friends and family for our wedding here. The hotel is not too far from the airport so the transfer in only 30 mins roughly. Upon arrival we were very impressed with the hotel at first sight. The lobby area was really nice and clean and well air conditioned! To say we'd had everything booked for over 18 months, our check-in was fairly unorganized a... Read more

This place is awesome and the entire family looks forward to returning in the near future. The room, staff, food, grounds, and basically everything was beyond our expectations. The only advice I have regards families - if you get a virgin margarita, watch to ensure no alcohol is added since they get busy and can forget to skip the alcohol. It only happen once and I caught it.

On arrival the check in was pretty painless, the reception staff were pleasant but their pre scripted warning on extra charges for losing arm bands, damages ,etc was a surprise and not what I have encountered before within Mexico at other 5s hotels. In a resort city where there are plenty of resorts competing for my dollar why should you go to the Riu Palace? I cant find one reason that you should. The reason why not to stay range from the small details such as: chipped water glasses, overhead shower head not working, using a wash cloth to close the drain to fill up the jacuzzi tub, to the more serious and disgusting incident hat happened on the third night there.
