"We stayed from Feb 21-Mar 7, my husband and I and our 5 & 7 yr old sons. We booked the Oasis Tulum, and upon arrival were upgraded to the Grand. We had an amazing time and would recommend staying at the Grand. We had friends arrive a few days later and with a little convincing they were also upgraded. We had read a some reviews and were a little worried about the resort, but we had nothing to worry about. The staff was very friendly, and the beach was amazing. The food was also pretty good, there was enough selection during our two week stay to keep us satisfied. We had a little trouble getting minor issues in our room taken care of, but overall we had an amazing vacation."

"Our vacation was from Feb 18-25, 2013, and I have to agree with most everything in a previous posting, except the 'Grand' side had been completed and everyone in our group thought the house wine was ok. We had a group of 14 (7 couples), and all had Oceanfront rooms on the non-Grand side. The oceanfronts are older condos, some still privately owned, but many have been sold back and converted into rooms. It was a very windy week, with temps usually in the mid to upper 80s. Early in the week the temps were a bit cooler but it warmed up a lot as the week went on. Rough waters kept the fishing and scuba diving boats from going out some, but we managed to get out fishing once and caught one small Mahi. We had a lot of fun and thanks to Dramamine, nobody got seasick in the 3 hours out in the big waves. About half of the rooms in our group had problems with unreliable Hot Water. Our room had an 'on-demand' heater that quit lighting on our last day. My theory is low gas pressure. Some of the rooms had standard tank heaters. Blue Experience Diving set us up at the resort and gave us a great diving experience in Cenote Dos Ojos. A bunch of us took the $3.50/head van taxi to Tulum and had fun walking down the main street and stopping at some of the bar/restaurants along the way. Tulum shop owners are not pushy at all. All in all it was a great vacation on a beautiful beach with an awesome view for a great price."

"I'm conflicted about this review. I would return, renting from one of the remaining private condominium owners. But I would not stay again through Oasis Tulum or Grand Oasis Tulum. The condominiums are ocean view and within steps of the beach, pool, etc. and well kept if still privately owned. They have kitchenettes which have been removed when purchased by Oasis Tulum owner. The private owners we met were very welcoming and helpful, making our stay much nicer. The majority of the staff were very pleasant. The problem is there is an extremely small staff so the service is limited at best.
My primary complaint was with the food. Reservations must be made for the Mexican and Italian restaurants which fill rapidly and can only be made 24 hrs in advance. The food at the buffet was too repetitive and very unimpressive compared to other resorts we have visited. I expected much better and was very disappointed. When we go to Mexico, we expect to have Mexican food choices which were extremely limited if available and frankly substandard. I could do better any day of the week which is just plain wrong.
If you are an early riser and require coffee you are out of luck. It is usually hard to find until after 7:30am. If you like to stay up all night drinking you are also out of luck. This is NOT a 24 hr. resort like many others.
We vacationed with 6 other couples. Several had issues with not having hot water or water at all. Some had problems with their toilets. The stench of raw sewage was overwhelming at times and extremely unpleasant. They need to make the investment to fix this problem once and for all since it appears to be a chronic problem.
Bottled water is available but they are stingy about giving it out. Tap beer was part of the all inclusive. However, you had to buy bottled beer of any other brand and it was extremely expensive even by U.S. standards.
On a positive point, this resort is located in an area secluded by rocky areas on each end so there is no %u2018beach traffic' or local sellers walking the beach. There are numerous cenotes and things to do close by compared to Playa del Carmen. It felt more private and safe with easy access to off resort activities.
Room Tip: DO NOT UPGRADE TO GRAND OASIS TULUM!!!!! It is NOT an upgrade. Too many issues still not worked out according to people who were 'up graded' and extremely unhappy."

"I would have to say 7 is where this resort tops out at. Ive been to six all-inclusive resorts and this one is my least favorite. Drinks are slow, food is good but trying to get service is sometimes like pulling teeth. The drive from the airport is long and if you use a service like best day there are multible stops on your way. Some resturants have additional costs and the safe lock costs $5 per day and not all drinks or bars are in all plans, yes there are 5 different plans. We were told with our plan we could only get 4 bottles of water per day, and we had the 2nd to highest plan. So I would look at other resorts for a better bang for your buck.

"We just returned from a trip to the Oasis Tulum (28 January - 4 February). I started looking at hotels in early December and liked the fact that the Oasis was located on a large beachfront property (we love to take long walks on the beach). Most of the reviews I read at that time were not bad (you can't please everyone), so I booked the trip as a Christmas present to my husband and two sons in their 20's. I booked oceanview rooms in the older part (not the Grand). Several weeks after I booked the trip, I started seeing not so good reviews and thought, 'oh no.' A few comments were from people who requested oceanview rooms, but got garden view. This was a big thing for us to have an oceanview with a balcony you can actually sit on. So, I was somewhat ready to do battle once we got there thinking this was probably going to happen to us. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted right away at the reception desk. They told us our rooms wouldn't be ready until 3:00 which we expected. They checked us in, gave us our bracelets and said we could go have lunch at the restaurant or do whatever until our rooms were ready. Went to the restarant and had a very good lunch (grouper). Our room was ready right at 3:00 although our kid's room, which was right next door, was not ready until around 4:30. No big deal. Our room was nice, clean and right on the beach with a beautiful view! We were more than satisfied.
I understand that this hotel is under new management and feel they are trying hard to make changes, although some changes may take longer than others. We did notice there were not many chairs on the beach, but halfway through our vacation we saw them bringing a bunch of brand new chairs to the pool area. The next day, there were many more chairs on the beach. We felt the food was fine, not like what you get on a cruise ship, but good enough for us. The staff was very friendly, expecially the bartenders! They could use more wait staff, towels on the beach (and rooms), larger water heaters in the units as the hot shower only lasted about 2 minutes. Also, our refrigerator did not work and it took 3 days to get it fixed. It was only stocked with a couple of waters, not fully stocked like they advertise. Pools were clean but hot tubs were not and were not 'hot.' These are relatively easy things to fix. Overall, for the price we paid, we were very satisfied. Would recommend going to Akumal Beach - absolutely beautiful! Water is much calmer there. We snokeled (saw a turtle) and scuba dived. Also went to the Tulum ruins. Very nice. Probably the biggest thing, which is not anything to do with the hotel, was the wind. 30 - 40 mph winds most of the time. The only day it wasn't windy was when we went to Akumal. Not sure if it's windy like that all the time. Not much you can do about it.
One other thing, we took a private shuttle from the airport to the hotel which I would highly recommend. We used Best Day Travel and they were on time both going to the hotel and coming back. It was only about an extra $30 total for all four of us. Well worth it. Exactly one hour ride. Some people mentioned it took them almost 3 hours to get there because they had to stop at so many hotels to let people off.

"From the moment we arrived at the Oasis Tulum it was terrible. After a very long day of travel we waited for an hour before anyone acknowledged us in the lobby to check us in. When they finally did get to us they told us they didn't have a room for us everything was booked. It then took them about another hour to find a room 'in an upgraded room'. The upgraded room had a Geico on the ceiling and I refused to stay there of which they again told us there were no more rooms available. The next day they said they would move us back to Cancun but we decided to stay and not waste any more time of our vacation. While we were there we met several other couples and at least 5 couples had the same experience we had. "

"We got to Cancun the next day and took a 2 hour bus trip from Cancun to Tulum. The bus had to stop at several resorts and we were the last people on the bus. Our resort was beautiful. As soon as we got to the front desk we found out that they had over booked the Oasis Tulum. They did not have any rooms available. They sent us and three other families back to Cancun on another 3 hour bus ride (traffic in Playa De Carmen).
We were sent to another Oasis in Cancun which looked like a Vegas style brass and glass hotel which we hated. It was very loud and in the middle of a busy city. From there we were sent to the Grand Oasis in Cancun. That resort was full of partying college kids. It was so loud in the room that all I could here was the DJ and dance music in my room for hours at a time.
I had booked and paid for a quiet resort in a jungle area of Tulum so that I could snorkel and walk through the rain forest. What I got was a very noisy, loud, party resort. It was the worst vacation of my life!

"Travelled in mid Dec. the pros include the beach which is perhaps the best snorkelling beach I have seen right in front of a hotel. protected, 200 yards of relatively shallow clear water with quite a few fish and corals. Price and value were reasonable, but we had booked the Grand reopening many months ago and unfortunately the 'Grand' part of the Oasis was not completed. For those of you who know Oasis that means the nicer restaurants, bars, premium liquor etc not available. That was a disappointment. We did get an oceanfront condo unit however which while old and creaky had a nice bed and excellent view.
Food quality somewhat less that some other all inclusives (no lox) but staff try hard, bartenders are creative and helpful. concierge really went out of her way to help. The supposed golf practice area is basically chipping and putting with a net to hit into.
Probably the most disappointing was the house wine. We enjoy wiine with dinner and it was close to undrinkable. I summoned the waiter wondering if we had a bad bottle or something and another diner at the restaurant came by and told me it was always bad and the white wine was worse! We think Oasis should be embarrased to serve that stuff. Oh well.. we learned to enjoy Caipirina instead. Would go back again but wish they would at least get a drinkable house wine."

"The resort was under construction, but didn't hinder us in the least. Beach was beautiful. Resort was very clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The front desk people could use some extra training. I called to get a bedside lamp fixed, and was told a maintenance person would be right there, however no one ever showed up. Asked for a wake up call on the day we left, no wake up call. Food was okay, not bad, not fantastic but the service was great. For the price we paid, I would say it was a great value."

"My ratings are based on 4 resorts that we've been to in Mexico in last 3 years.
Beach: A
Pools: A (esp like the fact that pools are shallow so my 3 yo and 9 yo can really enjoy them). There are 3 pools that my 3 yo can play in - very pleased.
Food: A, a la cart and buffet, they both are good. a la cart takes too long between the course, hard to keep entertain my 3 yo for that long, sitting. buffet is good esp coffee (the best out of 4 resorts that we've been). breakfast buffet is not that good, but lunch and dinner buffets are good, some dishes are really good (bbq ribs, fish, beef salad, shrimp salad, pasta, spaghetti)!! But No Ice cream machine!!! I'm surprised.
Accessibility: B - there are no bathrooms near each pool (except for 1 pool) or near beach. bathrooms are too few and apart (they are mainly inside the building). very inconvenient when you're drinking all day long by the pool and on the beach!!!! Also, resort is not handicap friendly. To get to our rooms, you have to go through stairs, no elevators or no ramps for luggages. I feel very bad for the bell boys, carrying luggages on the dolly up/down over the steps!
Room comfort: C - here are the reasons: A/C not cold, mini fridge stocked only with water instead of sodas and beers as well, TV is very old and not clear (TV was important because of my boys to watch cartoon at night and we wanted to watch olympics), mosquitoes bit us a lot - both my son and I are still scratching 4 days after we came back. I had the pleasure of smacking 2 mosquitoes in the room the day before we left! bathroom has no hook or place to hang wet clothes except on the curtain rod. shower water was hot and cold during peak time, annoying esp to give shower to my 3 yo. But keep in mind our room is a standard garden view room. I think ocean front rooms are much better. I know at least they have a flat screen TV, and it's bigger than our 25' boxy TV!
Staff Efficiency: B. when we're in the pool or on the beach, sometimes the staff will come by to ask for a drink but not as often as I would like. We have to go get them on our own majority of the time. Also, at buffet restaurant, tables are not always set when we sit (missing a spoon or napkin) .
Privacy: A. There were no sales/tour people selling us stuff or no locals selling stuff on the beach!!!! The resort is secluded, not too crowded. So we don't have to save the lounge chair on the beach or by the pool. We can always find spot. Unlike the other resorts, we have to go early in the morning around 9 am to put down our stuff on the lounge chair to save the seat!
Overall, we always enjoy all-inclusive Mexico vacation no matter what - what not to like? beautiful beach, unlimited drinks and foods, lots of sun, beautiful landscaping and buildings, and most of all, no work!
I won't return to this resort just because we go to different resort every year to have a different experience.

"I recently returned from 4 nights at the Oasis Tulum. The location is fantastic, on a beautiful, white sand beach close to Tulum and not far from Cancun. There were turtles laying eggs at night along the beach, so it was interesting to see new nests each morning. They are well-protected and most of them were a little further along the beach from the Oasis.
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay, but were disappointed in the lack of services available. We knew ahead of time about the change in ownership, so this made it a bit more acceptable.
The resort was only at 20% occupancy, so it felt like we had one on one service from the staff. However, service was still a bit slow....if you are not in a rush....sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquility. This was a nice surprise for me, as I am not a fan of all-inclusives. My daughter chose this type of vacation.
The staff are wonderful here.....they will bend over backwards to meet your needs.....always greet you with a smile and attend to any issues that you have during your stay. I had a problem at one of the restaurants, which required laundry service and the front desk took care of it asap. I mentioned it to the manager and he remembered to ask me the following day if I received my laundry back on time.
I must comment on the food at this resort. As an individual who has travelled and is fussy about my food, I must say that the quality and presentation at the restaurants was excellent. For an all-inclusive, the kitchen staff really do a fabulous job!!! The portion sizes are perfect. Nice selection at the buffet, everything was fresh and the variety was super. I never once got sick, but found it difficult to limit myself, so as not to overeat. Lots of wonderful local specialties that one can try.....nopal and to drink, horchata to name a couple.
I believe that with the changes to this resort, the new owners will make many improvements. The rooms definitely need updating, and as another review pointed out, we had leaky faucets and water flowing out of the shower and onto the floor. Hair conditioner in the rooms would be nice, too.
Overall, I would return here because it was a super value and a pleasure to be treated so well by friendly staff who enjoy interacting with people.
Thank you and hope to return soon!

"I would just like to send out a warning to all considering this hotel..... Avoid at all costs! The description of the hotel package was not at all like what we received upon arrival. The hotel along with the pools and beach are beautiful. The problem begins with the employees and staff. They have the worst service we had seen anywhere. It was almost amazing each night as we met more and more people that we all had our disappointments with the hotel in common. It was very rare to meet someone who was happy. The food on the buffet was mostly the same food you will eat everynight of your stay. Never was it warm enough. The service in the bars was so slow. They would have 1 bartender working mostly by himself. occasionally they would disappear and no one would be serving the bar for atleast 10 minutes. The alcohol included was the cheapest stuff you could find and any substitute was an extremely high up charge. I would never consider returning and would not give the recommendation to anyone. The room was ok, first we were given the wrong room and the air did not work then in the second room the fridge was not working. We have been to mexico many times this was by far our worst experience. The language barrier is huge (many of the resorts we have been to in the past have very good english speaking employees, that does not seem to be important to management at this resort. , the package states that all tips are included, but every bar, buffet, etc a tip jar is set out. I believe this to be very tacky, I have no problem leaving a tip when one is deserved, but at Oasis Tulum you will barely be looked at without waving around a dollar bill. BEWARE!"

"Hey we stayed at the Oasis Tulum during July 28 - Aug 4. We visited with our 2 sons 3 and 9 year old. This is our first trip to Cancun but we have 3 prior visits to Puerto Valllarta and Carbo San Lucas. Overall, we had a good time. It is a perfect place to unwind and destress from your busy life style. It is away from all city activities and pretty isolated.
First the good stuff:
===============
The beach: the hotel is right in front of a stretch of beautiful beach. The sand is white. Water is crystal clear and team with colorful fishes. I swam 20 feet out on the first day and greeted by a sting ray though it is not everyday sighting. A coral reef out in the ocean about 200 yards from the beach breaks big waves and keeps the water at the beach mild and easy for children to enjoy the ocean. Needless to say the water temperature was just perfect.
Next the food: Very generous. We all gain weigh from over enjoyment. I have a weak stomach and usually get some issue on my visit to Mexico. To my surprise the only issue I had this time was from over enjoyment of Habanero salsa; my own doing. We saw food inspectors visiting and checking temperature in the kitchen and on the buffet tables, they are serious. 3 gourmet restaurants serves quality food. Buffet is full of fresh fruits, Mexican corner, fresh salad bar, different kinds of pasta every day, different dishes of seafood everyday, at least one kind chicken dish, and multiple meat dishes. So much quality food compare to other all-inclusive places we have visited in the west. During the day, the hotel serves seafood salad and simple sushi rolls near the beach in addition to burgers, fries, chips, hot dogs, etc.. till 5 pm. Drinks are as usual unlimited. Dos XX beer was excellent on the beach.
The staff from reception, waiters, bar tenders to room service were super friendly and helpful. We have no negative thing to say about the staff.
Weekdays at this hotel was very quiet and relaxing as it has less crowed.
Reflection pool you see in the adds curved pool are for real just like in the pictures.
So many pools, we found the health bar also a swim up bar, only on our last day where they serves just fruit smoothies of all kinds.
Now not so good stuff:
==================
Hotel is 60 miles away from the airport. Make sure to pre-arrange your transport or prepare to pay up to US$130 for taxi.
Rooms are clean but furniture and faucets are quite old. Shower valves are not scotchgard faucet so you would get hot water every time someone flushes a toilet in the building. Never drink tap water, I don't think you would in Mexico anyway, it is slightly salty. Room door have no dead bolts and manual key entry (not key card). Rooms are old but they kept them as clean as possible. Nice and firm bed and clean sheets.
Even though the pools are clean, they don't run the filter pumps 24x7 like I expected. Pool filtering systems are marginal.
AC units for the rooms are old and most units work marginally. If you must have a cold night sleep, make sure to check at your check-in time. Our room was just good enough for us. A bit warmer than what we used to but we managed with it.
Not a place for disable/handicap folks. No elevators. Three story buildings have many stairs to go up and down with no, no ramps. They have a couple of bell boys but prepare to carry your own or long waits for the bell boys.
Due to the size of the hotel (small), nightly entertainment was limited to Thur, Fri and Sat. The auditorium is small and no AC. I felt sorry for the entertainment crew who had to perform in the heat. But the dancers were great.
Looks like 2 small hotels combined together and disjointed. Oasis should connect them it seamlessly.
Closest restroom from the beach is in the lobby. It is far from the beach and inconvenient to go across a large marble floor on a wet feet.
If you plan to visit Xcaret, Xplore or any other places it would add at least 1 hr to your travel time to and from this hotel.
------------------------
In summary, if you are looking for a quiet relaxing place with good food, service and beach, this is for you. For the price you can't go wrong. If you are looking for a fancy room and lots of excitement, this is not the one. Overall we are very please and would consider to visit again.
