"i did have have a great time on my vacation but there were a couple of problems. the first was that we called the front desk to tell them that our toilet would not flush 3 times and no one came to fix it thank god it happend the last 2 days so we left the hotel with the toilet not fully working. second is that we got locked out of our room twice due to the locks on the door being broken and they had to brake into our room threw the sliding door on the balcony.which didnt make us feels safe. when we talked to other guess's they too had that problem with the door. when we left we gave the front desk 10 none working keys. each time we got locked out it took them at least 2 hours for us to get into our room and one of the times when we got into our room they told us not to leave the room again or we would be locked out again.also as the week went on the service declined. it took a while to get a drink or to be seated at the buffet by a staff member. the last thing and one of the biggest problems was that the staff members would always say yes or we will help you and would not follow threw with it. it seemed that they were trained to say yes no matter what the problem was or if they were going to help you or not. dont get me wrong we had a great time, the place was spotless and beautiful. if the price was a little cheaper i would go back"

"The hotel was fine. As described in trip advisor and all reviews. Beautiful, clean. Nice rooms. food was very good. One major issue was the tranport company. They tried to transfer 5 families to 5 different resorts with one van. I have been to Playa del Carman several times and its a 45 to 50 minute ride. they told me transfer from airport would take 2 hrs. Yes, 3 times as long as needed. I understand having jto make stops, but they were not flexable and told me to take a cab and eat the cost. "

"The trip was better than expected. The staff was always smiling, laughing and very friendly. The entertainment was good but, could have had a little more music poolside. The food was plentiful and excellent. The hotel caters to all appetites. The rooms were always being refreshed. Staff was quick to respond to all requests. The pool area was very attractive and never seemed crowed. Staff was constantly cleaning and straightening up. The ground were magnificient. Service was superb! It was easy to access Playa Del Carmen with a walk on the beach, water sports and lots of beautiful sand. We will definitely return and are already recommending the hotel to friends, neighbors and co-workers."

"Our flight was cancelled so we arrived a day and half later than planned and paid for. That put a big downer on all of us. We had planned for the trip in August 2011. Over all the hotel is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. Compliants we did not address were: Ceiling fan did not work. Toilet made a screaming sound with every flush. Alot of door slamming in the middle of night. And it would have helped if we spoke Spanish."

The Hotel Riu Palace Riviera Maya is rising along a spectacular stretch of white sandy beach, and framed by tropical palm trees. It is located in the Yucatan peninsula, 1.8 miles from Playa del Carmen, within the Playacar resort area, along with the Riu Yucatan, Riu Playacar, Club Hotel Riu Tequila, and the Riu Palace Mexico hotels. It is surrounded by 42,000 square yards of lush gardens, on the beach, 1650 feet from a shopping center, and 35 miles from the Cancun International Airport.
Cancún International Airport:
Approximate driving time to the Riu Palace Riviera Maya is 45 minutes and distance is 55 km (35 miles).
Driving directions from Cancún International Airport:
Take the only road leaving the airport and then take Hwy 307 south. Go through Playa del Carmen and take the second entrance into Playacar. Continue straight for 1 km (0.5 mile). Turn right at the traffic circle (roundabout) and the hotel is the 6th resort on the left.
