"This was not our first all-inclusive hotel. I would not recommend. Check in was extremely slow. A lot of staff behind the counter, using computers, but not helping the next person in line. Our first impression was a balcony directly overlooking trash, dumpsters, and old oil drums between the 2 hotels. Ceiling leaked, door plaster holding the lock crumbling, balcony doors do not seal, and no hot water. We had to change rooms and had to wait in the lobby most of the first full day. We called for room service 2 nights in a row about 10:30 & both nights no one came. Food was ok. Portafino, Manhattan, and Samari were all very nice restaurants. Buffet kept running out of things such as bacon and sausage. All the restaurant staff & buffet staff were very friendly & accommodating. I would not return"

"Just returned home form 7 nights and 8 days at the Great Parnassus Resort. My wife and I have 2 daughters (7 and 5) and we had a blast. We were able to experience everything the resort had to offer. From each restaurant to kids club, water parks, pools, beach, and service. ROOMS: We had a family room which was very well maintained. Our kids loved the bunkbeds and the balcony which had a good view of the beach. There isn't much on TV unless you can speak Spanish but for us that wasn't a big deal at all. FOOD: The food was above average. But I have been to Mexico 30-40 times in my life and compared to many trips it was pretty good. Our girls loved the variety, and 24 hour room service. We really never had a bad meal - but it maybe wasn't like a 4-5 star restaurant. But we sure did like it. The Mexican restaurant by the kids park was AWESOME! A must try. KIDS ACTIVITIES: There seemed to always be something to do. Everyday we hung out at the pools or the beach and then made our way to the kids park. My girls loved the big slide and the kids area. There isn't anywhere to sit for the most part but we are active so we didn't really want to. We only dropped out kids off at the kids area once. For the first time (this is our 5th All Inclusive trip) we felt really safe leaving them with the staff. There were tons of staff around and they watched them closely. Our girls loved doing the craft time with them. Parents are welcome to come in and go to the water park area with their kids at any time. We loved this side of the resort. POOLS AND BEACH: Amazing - perfect in all regards for us. Pool was cooler - but when it is 90 that is what you want. Beach and pool area were cleaned nightly and was always in amazing shape when you got there in the morning. STAFF: They were over the top friendly and loved serving.
OVERALL: We usually don't go back to a resort more than once - we are kind of adventurous people. But we may consider going back - we had such a good time. One note - I could see that if you went during a peak time (example: spring break) you may feel a little overwhelmed. We tend to pick off peak times (2 weeks after Easter 2013) and the resort was quiet for the most part. In fact the first 4 days we were there I think there were only 30 families or so on site. SO I am sure that makes a big difference in some of these reviews. If the resort was completely full I am sure we wouldn't have such a high review."

"Just got back from a trip to the Great Parnassus - honestly this hotel looks better on paper. The allure for Canadians to vacation in Mexico is to enjoy the outdoors - whether it's relaxing or dining. This hotel is designed like a big cruise ship - all the restaurants are indoors with the exception of the snack bar during the day and the swim-up/oceanside bars. We're not a fussy family but the food is just mediocre. The service on the other hand is fabulous and the staff very friendly.
All rooms open into the interior corridor which is very noisy at night. We were to be booked into a family suite but when we checked in, we were told there weren't any available so ended up with a basic room.
The infinity pools look great in the pics but they're extremely cold - the only pool that is tolerable is by the swim-up bar - so kids end up in this part of the pool literally splashing everyone who's just trying to relax. Although there is the appeal of the waterslides - they are located at the front of the hotel, down a long corridor and have nowhere for adults to relax while kids are playing. Also, the play area is sectioned off and kids need to go through the Kids Club in order to enjoy the whole waterslide area.
Didn't know about the 4 free waters per day - we bought ours from the Pharmacia - that would have been nice to know!
I would consider a different hotel next time!"

"Overall a very good experience. Had read some bad reviews but we thought the food was good. Made to order eggs for breakfast everyday. I avoided food that had been sitting out under heat lamps. No real complaints about any of the restaurants except that at Manhattan the service was extremely slow. I think the guy we kept getting was new. It took 15 minutes to get our water and soda. But the sandwiches there were really good. Prime rib at Big Ben's had gravy on it instead of Au Jus but I liked it. The ribs were tender but not like the barbeque you'd find in AZ. Japanese and Italian restaurants were very good also. We did not try Michelle's but I heard that their steak there was great.
Second floor towards the front has an adult pool and an adult bar were you can smoke inside.
I thought all the staff was great and helpful. I do tip good because I know they make terrible wages so I appreciate their service.
The entertainment is more for kids but there is a Karaoke bar downstairs from the adult bar. No live music but good music plays when people aren't singing and I saw people dancing there.
I did not go to the membership presentation because I have a membership at another resort. This was just an extra trip because of the good price.
Our drinks weren't watered down and they used premium liquors.
Many people who booked at the adult sister resort, the Golden Parnassus got bumped to our resort and were very upset as it costs more at Golden. I heard Golden was a great time but we were just there to relax so we stayed at this resort the entire week. I would recommend this resort as long as you get a really good price. I'd rate it a 3 star at best but we did enjoy our stay here."

"We've been to a few family all-inclusive hotels in Cancun and they all offer the same concept: buffet restaurant, few restaurants with wait staff, kid's club, entertainment staff, activities for kids and adults throughout the day, shows at night, etc. The Great Parnassus was like other similar style hotels that we've been to. Cons: The shows at night were not as exciting as some of the ones we've seen in other hotels on previous years, the restaurants all face the inside of the hotel so they don't have a view (except for a section of the Magnus, their buffet restaurant). Pros: The food was good, the staff was friendly, there are plenty of bars, restaurants and food shacks to drink and eat, the room (family room with bunk bed) was very nice, and the hotel was clean, we had issues with the TVs not working and bathroom being clogged and they were promptly resolved, during the day there were a lot of activities for the kids, both at the kid's club and in the main pool area, the adult pool is nice. At this time of year the hotel wasn't too full and there weren't many spring breakers, so we enjoyed a very nice vacation. Last year we stayed at the Crown Paradise and there are some things we liked better about that hotel. But, in general, the Great Parnassus was good and we had a good time."

"The hotel made good use of their available space. It seems as though many improvements have been made based upon traveller concerns. Staff was constantly cleaning and there was ongoing maintenance during our stay. The rooms are worn from apparent use. This establishment should advertise better their kid friendliness. Once we arrived we learned it is one of the most kid friendly vacation destinations in Latin America. We chose this destination on price, number of bars/restaurant choices, and proximity to the airport. We spent most of our time on the beach relaxing away from the rowdy, splashing kids in the pools. The adult pool was a nice escape from all the kids and could benefit from making the pool with the only swim-up-bar adult only. Rooms could use linen and towel upgrades. Overall, our mid-winter getaway was very enjoyable and we have no valid complaints. I'd go back to this resort...when I have kids of my own."

"Just got back from a fantastic stay at Great Parnassus! Must admit we were a little nervous after reading some of the trip advisor reviews - one of our best family holidays ever!!
The Buffet is one of the neatest features of GP. There are a number of stations - Mexican, fresh fruit and smoothies, chicken dishes, beef and pork dishes, Chinese (stir fries mostly), pasta and pizza. Each station has some already made food plus some made to order so there are so many choices for breakfast, lunch and supper. We had made to order omelettes every days and our kids loved the pancakes, frenchtoast and waffles. Only downside to breaky was they don't have coffee cream at buffet so if you like cream you can pick up a cafe con leche (with milk) at the Crepiere on the way.
Lunch at Bora Bora outside is nice -made to order burgers, dogs and some specialty sandwiches plus outdoor buffet with chips and fresh salsa, white meat chicken fingers (awesome!), fries, ribs, calamari...watch the seagulls (they think the food is pretty good too!)
Dinners-Manhattan is nice, mostly sandwiches and fries so not our first choice. El Maguey (mexican) is located at entrance to kids club and treasure island watersides - very good food (only open from 1-6:30?). Portofino (Italian) was very good - the chicken with fettuccine was excellent!! Pizza was ok...almost better at buffet. Big Ben was pretty darn good - have to remember it's just not Canadian or US beef but we're beef eaters and the prime rib was good. The big treat was Maison du Michelle...formal dress so guys need long pants and shoes (runners at ok - I wore em!) and can't bring the kids so we left them one night at kids club and they had fun (at 7 the girls bring them to the buffet and the kids pick what they want for supper!) French onion soup was so good we ordered a second one for dessert! My wife had the entrecôte and it was good (similar to a NY strip loin). I had the filet and it was like Can / US beef and super super good! We had crete brûlée (2) for dessert and it was also perfect...best meal by far!
Bars are great and there are gals walking around the pool (and even the beach) to bring you drinks. We like to tip and they were always there to take care of us.
Our kids really enjoyed kids club and the water park. Kids have to be 48' to hang out at Treasure Island (crazy fast watersides!) but all kids can go to other kids park. Kids club open 9-9 with lots of different activities thru out the day. We've been to the Dominican once and Mexico once before this and this hotel had by far the hardest working, friendliest staff.
Room was big, clean, well stocked. You can order 4 water and 4 beer from room service FREE every day (they don't advertise this) . Room #01 to 06 are streetside but with jacuzzis we thought. Rooms ending with 06 to 30 are likely ocean view but farther back so any room ending in 30 or higher is towards the ocean side of the hotel."

"Disappointed!! The place has the potential, but it seems as if management forgot about their guest's perspective. It seemed as if they only care about collecting without thinking about reinvesting into the resort. Most of the equipment in the gym was broken or barely functioning, the sauna was just luke warm, elevators were constantly out of order, soda fountains would dispense water instead of soda and ice machines were so often out of ice. Of the four rooms my family occupied, two had toilets which hardly flushed, and our phone did not work for half of our stay. Staff would often ignore you unless you waived a tip in their face. But we had fun. Food was ok. Liquor watered down. If you want thinks to be perfect or close to it and you care about details then I advise you to book somewhere else or be frustrated with the resorts lack for attention to detail. I guess the saying is true; you get what you pay for. The above represents my opinion and my opinion only."

"Very good value for money. Rooms were very large and clean with good daily service.
Food and drink choices were varied and interesting. Reciprocity at Golden Parnassus's Shangri La a definite plus.
The bars lacked any ambiance and service they were mediocre with only one barman and little table service.
Access and cost of WiFi RIDICULOUS. Most hotels are going to free wifi and those who don't will lose business; it is as mandatory as a good bed!"

"Great beach, nice facilities; but because of lack of maintenance the hotel and its facilities are falling apart. The hotel staff needs to do a better job on taking care of the facilities, and cleaning rooms and other facilities.
It will be worth to invest on buying new towels for the rooms, as they are old, misstreated, and falling appart.
Not sure if the hotel deserves the number of stars that are shown, an inspaction from the hotel rating authority will be an opportunity to have an action plan for recovering the status as the facilities have a really nice set up, but maintenance is a must!!!!"

"We asked for a handicap room, and never got one . The bathtub was totally unsafe for handycapped person.Tub and shower drain came up on the floor drain every time it was used. Food was good as breakfast, but rest was sub standard. Ice machines on our floor neither one worked. Kids club too far away and very lax on security. It rained one afternoon and the building leaked like a sieve! There were pool towels everywhere in the halls. Public bathrooms were too far from the pool and were not cleaned often. We found it very difficult to communicate with the staff, and most of the staff didn't seem friendly or the least bit welcoming. We visit Cancun often and will not return to this resort."

"Overall the hotel is okay but not great. Whilst we didn't dislike our stay, we didn't love it enough to return or recommend. However, we did pay for what we got so this is not a complaint. Recommend that you ask for a room with odd numbers. We initially had room 220 and the view of the building next doors roof top and garbage was horrendous. After complaining nicely, the manager agreed to move us after two nights. Our remaining seven nights were in family room 439 which was almost perfect. Almost because the first three nights we had to call maintenance everytime we had a shower as there was no hot water."

"We had an awesome time during our vacation at the Great Parnassus! The food was great. A few of our favorites were the Crepe place and the buffet(because of selection). We also had a good time at Big Ben and Samurai restaurants.
The staff was friendly, especially the entertainment staff. Our favorite show was the Star Show and Casino Night.
One complaint we did have was it took over an hour to get an iron. We had to call about 3 or 4 times and each time we were told they would bring it in a few minutes instead of just saying they didn't have one available. I would recommend asking for one as early as you can--if you need one.
But other than that experience, everything else was awesome."

"There were a few issues with the hotel. First we were placed in a room that didn't meet the specifications of the room I had originally booked. I was traveling with two kids and they had booked a room with 2 beds and only had 1. They had to bring in an extra bed/futon for the kids.I also had a minibar included in the room but was nowhere to be found had some minor problems with the shower and our safety deposit box didn't work. The staff was great always helpful and friendly. Only on one day our room didnt get serviced but it might have been because of a power outage throughout the city. The food was below my expectations only breakfast was worth eating the rest including the restaurants seemed like microwave food. The facilities were very clean and enjoyable. Overall experience was good aside from the minor room issues and food it was a great vacation."

"My understanding was that this hotel was 5 stars.. at least that's how they promote theirselves as, the price was not bad, but it's only a bit extra to stay at a nicer hotel. It felt more like a 3 star, I was disappointed.
I was interested in this hotel because of the kid areas - this trip was mainly to entertain my kid, but I also wanted to have a good time, and that did not happen, I could not get in the pools because they were so dirty, i cant undestand how people could get in, the food was cheap and mediocre, I can tell they don't spend much money on the quality of their products, I visited 5 restaurants, I only enjoyed the food at 1. The japanese restaurant was specially horrible, their take on japanese food was completely wrong and even the chopsticks were terrible, seriously, they where the lowest quality they could find, they chipped and broke.. you could definitely get splinters, we ordered a dish that was supposed to be beef filet, it was more like the meat used for chicken-fried-steak, even the soy was watered down, this is all for real, the fresh salmon was not fresh and , eel sauce tasted very weird, not like it should at all , even a lemonade we ordered was horrible.
The buffet area was hot, i agree with another reviewer that it felt like you were eating at a sauna. The fruit in the mornings was great, very fresh, I'll accept that.
Now, the hotel was falling apart literaly.. paint was coming off, there were water leaks all over the place, so they had towels on the floor in different places all over the hotel, when it rained it leaked at new places so they put more towels... the paint finishes were terrible, like someone not very talented took a faux painting one week course, and they painted all the themed restaurants, i honestly think their decorator should get sued, it was a cheap and ill tasted job, there are beautiful design elements throughout the hotel, like the fountain behind the check-in desk in the lobby, but the ceiling in the lobby was falling apart aswell.
The rooms!! the rooms were great! exactly as I saw on the internet, clean and spacious, I really enjoyed that. I could not receive phone calls in my room, for some reason, they said they'd fix it, but it never worked.
I learned my lesson, I rather stay at a nicer hotel that is not all inclusive and spend my money in good restaurants. This hotel had good reviews and looks like a lot of fun for my kid, but my kid even said he'd rather stay at a nicer hotel, even if it doesn't have all the water slides.. so that's what we'll do next time!"

"Very true that you get what you pay for. I read trip advisor after I booked so at least I knew what to expect. The food court was the best place to eat. Dinner at the restaurants were gross & we wound up going out for dinner more than half of our week. Hotel was clean, updates & maintenance necessary. If you are traveling with children I suggest you bring a fan or white noise machine because the sound carries at all hours of the night. They do have sand toys & balls, etc that you can check out which worked out great for the beach! The waterpark was also a disappointment. As far as the kids club goes, I couldn't imagine leaving my 11 yr old in there! It's like a hot dungeon in there! Staff was friendly. As soon as you check in employees start hounding you to go on a tour so I let the lady know that we weren't interested in any time share or whatever she was trying to sell that we are here on a vacation. She told me that she cross my name out so they wouldn't call me in the morning. 2 hours later a man approached me claiming its free. I just told him, nothing is free & kept walking. Personally I would not stay there again nor would I refer to my friends."

"I was very disappointed at the hotel. We felt like the hotel wanted every penny they could get out of us... sadly.
Things were not clear to us. They made us walk back to the reception area to get cards for pool towels, even though I had a room card and a hand band that clearly showed we were their guests (an inconvenience since this place is huge!) .
The buffet area is not air-conditioned or if it is it is very hot! it felt like eating in a sauna. The food selection amazingly did not include re-fried beans! and the good Mexican food that we love!
Housekeeping would come by very early to clean the room, since we were on vacation we would be sleeping so our room got cleaned I would say every third day. The air-conditioner did not seem to keep up with the heat. The air-conditioner vent dripped on the entrance (a flaw in the design) and it seemed like a safety hazard, so we kept towels there.
When we were checking out, the staff at the front desk was ready and happy to charge us $30.00 per towel card not returned! I was shocked... so had to run back to the room to find dirty pool towels, or cards! I told them they should explain their system better to arriving guests so that this missunderstading would not happen. They just grinned and said to read the small print on the card! WOW! I found them very rude... specially when we paid our way, and were their guests."

"My husband and I have been to Cancun 3 times, but this was the first time we had a baby with us (our baby is 22 months old). We wanted to find a family-friendly place that had childcare options. This really was a good choice. The hotel has a kid's area with a children's pool, pirate ship, and giant waterslide. Also, there's free baby and childcare onsite, which we did use one afternoon for 2 hours so that we could play tennis and swim in the ocean. I was a little nervous about leaving the baby with the baby club, but when we picked up our son from the baby club, he was as happy as could be.The staff took great care of him. We paid only $79/night per person for this all-inclusive club. What a deal! The food was good. The room was very nice and spacious. The beach in front was gorgeous. I would highly recommend this place for families."

"This hotel is rated a 3.5 star and that's what it is. The food was average and by the end of the week you get bored with it. The rooms were large and very clean. We had a family room and it was great for the kids. Only complaint about the room would be the beds, they were not very comfortable. The staff is great and provided tons of fun by the pool. The beach was amazing, but the ocean is rough. All in all, it was an ok vacation. We normally say at 5 star resorts and that is what we would go back."

"We just returned from the hotel and loved our stay. We were there during 'off' time so there were no crowds and we felt as though we owned the entire place. We never had to make a reservation or wait for a drink. Beach and Pool Staff were wonderful. They made our kids feel at home and were always getting them involved in activities. Food was fine, we were not expecting a 5 star cuisine, nor did we get a 5 start cuisine. It satsified our needs for all-inclusive and nobody went home hungry. Everyone was friendly, place was clean. Bartenders were awesome. As others mentioned bring insulated cups to the beach and ask for water through room service to be delivered to your room. Spa was wonderful. We also did the Selvetica tour which was awesome. I am a mother to 3 kids ages 11-14 and all had a fantastic time."

"The resort is amazing! Huge value for a very reasonable cost. We travelled with a total of 4 adults and 5 kids aged 2 to 8 and we all loved it. This was our second visit and was even better than the first. The staff is what makes this resort special. They are unbelievable - friendly, kind, helpful and they really knock themselves out to make your experience fantastic. The entertainment staff in especially worth mentioning - they go out of their way to make sure the kids and adults have fun from morning to night. We also had some fantastic waiters and bartenders. Can't say enough about this place!"

"Just returned yesterday from a five day stay: 1. We entered the open lobby after a long day of travel and were greeted with a tray of some sort of punch served in really cool martini type glasses. It was delicious and the staff very welcoming. It would've been nice to be offered an adult beverage instead of the punch, but it still tasted good. 2. Check in went fast, we were done within 10 minutes 3. Room was very clean, bathroom large and appointed with the standard 'stuff' you'd expect (towels shampoo soap) 4. Baggage did not arrive to our room for 2 hours. We ended up having to call and remind them. 5. First night ate at Portofino. It is onsite. One of my children enjoyed their meal. The other two as well as myself and mother were disgusted by what was served. Ignore this place. 6. The buffet is open from 730a to 9p. While the fare is not high end it was satisfying and there were many choices. Go for the sushi. They will make it on demand 7. Drinks available at 7 locations day and into the night. The bartenders were amazing and patient. top notch! 8. Pool area and beach make this place what it is. I have never enjoyed swimming and just people watching as much as on the pool and around it at this resort. Drinks are brought to you if you'd like. There are adult and kid activities all day.....basketball, water polo, volleyball, trivia, yoga, etc. The entertainment staff is awesome!!! I can't say enough about them. 9. Big Ben steakhouse is good as well. If you don't like sauce on your steak (me) make sure that you let the waiter know. Cream of mushroom soup was awesome, as well as a Roquefort salad. 10. We are going to go back next year."

"After reading all the negative reviews i was very hesitant to go to this resort. It turned out to be a great choice. Resort is super clean, staff very friendly, pools are very clean with all day activities for kids & adults, beach is amazing kids had lotsd of fun boogieboarding. The food is ok nothing fancy nothing gourmet . We all enjoyed the nightly entertainment. Gym is huge we used it almost everyday of our stay. Spa is very nice too. We went to isla mujeres with Aquaworld & had the option to snorkle on the way this was a great experience too. Elevators are too normal for such a huge hotel did not find them too slow at all. Tip goes a long way. we took lots of $1 bills & tipped almost everyone there. They had a huge Basket ball & a Tennis court on the 1st floor which my kids & husband enjoyed so much. All in al the experience was wonderful & we will definetly go back again to this resort. To me & my family this resort is not less than a 5 star resort if the food was better."

"2 families - 9 in total including 5 kids! Great resort for families, accomodations are fabulous for a family with 3 children (could even fit 2 more comfortably). The entertainment staff is second to none! What energy and dedication to ensuring guests are comfortable and have fun. The food was better than most all inclusives and definately provided variety, although the quality was somewhat questionable at certain locations and times. We did have some areas where we would like to see improvements and would have made out trip just a little nicer: Phone - one call every 4 or so hours and then it would not work again (replaced once during the visit) Thank goodness the other family brough walkie talkies, so we could ask them to phone from their room for us to request water:-) Room service menu - requested 6 times to have one left in our room. We did receive it on the last day! So only used room service for water orders. Not a big deal but funny. Isobister hotel next door - air conditioning units (wow) the consistent noise level was uncomfortable. I was able to get use to it after one sleepless night, and I am not sure anything can be done to fix it, but you definately want to have a room with an even # when staying in this hotel. Finally we asked for a room with a king and received 2 doubles - worked out ok, but not what we would have prefered. If you need a king because you are TALL, you may run into issues the first night, but they will try to fix it for you the next day. Service staff were all very attentive after you slip them a dollar or so (note: loonies not so popular) Would definately and have recommended this resort for families who like children."

"I went Feb2012 to GP with 2 adults 3 kids, we had very good time. The hotel was built in 2006 but has an older style, I thought it was the 1970's. Everything was clean and well maintained except for a mildewy smell in the Karaoke bar. I will grade the various aspects of the hotel : Beach : A. wide and white and powdery with small bar and thatch umbrellas Pool : A- very nice, big and clean and separate kids pool and slide for ages 2-12. No diving board and pool a little boring. Staff : A could not be nicer. Entertainment staff also energetic and fun and eager. Food : B Breakfast and grilled stuff was very good. Dinner in the restaurants could never be mistaken for real restaurant food. Entertainment: A- really very good, almost outstanding. Room : B clean, bed was excellent. Drab decor."

"Staff : excellent very nice at all times. Entertainment staff A really nice to the kids, very energetic, all sorts of games in the day and shows at night. This is a hotel for middle schoolers (maybe younger) who can have a great time. Building : built in 2006 but looks older, kinda 1970's style. But clean, plenty of staff, only the Karioke bar had a mildewy smell. Everything else was very servicable B Pool : very nice pool, slide "

"I am simple man and do not ask allot . But a man from the service desk told us plainly we were to meet with hotel staff, about getting a better deal on our next vacation. I said no I went though the time share last year . He said it wasn't that, he lied. Then he told us he would give us extra gifts to make up for it. He didn't. The people selling the time share swore at us and told us to leave because we didn't want it. That's just plain wrong ."

"Lots of activities and a fun trip for our family. Great pool area, great beach and an extremely friendly and helpful staff. Our kids range in age from 14 to 8 and they had a fun vacation and we always felt safe. The rooms were decent and clean. The breakfast buffet and lunch at the 'Magnus' were solid with lots of choices but the dinners at the restaurants could have been better. I suppose you get what you pay for when it comes to the main course at some all-inclusives. In addition, don't expect too much from the 'water park' and mini golf - the main pool and the beach are the spots to play. It was also convenient to have access to the water sports and excursions staff on-site. Overall, we'd recommend the Great Parnassus for families with children on their first trip to Cancun. We enjoyed our stay."

"The room description being right
but pictures and video of the room depicting a higher grade room
we had several problems during our stay
the 1st one was a missing matrass in our bunkbed set up
that took 2 days to get resolved ( because staff of the hotel was slow to react )airconditoned
that was barely acceptable for 4 days
if you stay longer it becomes a real nuisance
food is very mediocre for an adult pallet
kids will be ok if they are not to demanding
they have 10 restaurants but only 2 of them are close to a standard you would find acceptable in the USA

" absolutely fantastic. I have been there three times and I'm hoping to go back again. The rooms and restaurants are very clean. There is a variety of many different types of foods. It is very family oriented for children and teens of all ages. The staff and entertainment staff have been my favorite part of my experience at this hotel. They are all very welcoming and fun to be around, while also being very helpful and hard-working. The entertainment staff do an amazing job at getting all of the kids involved and they do a great job at learning their names and getting to know them personally. I cannot wait to go back this coming spring break with my family. :)"

"Well with all of the other comments prior to my arrival i should have taken heed .Our first day arriving we came in early 1pm so we had to wait in the lobby, for abou 3 hours till we realized their was a bar that served drinks nearby. MY last trip to Cancun the staff brought them to you as you walked through the door.when we ckeck on the where abouts of the bathrooms and Pool area it was so far away from the lobby no on could find a way to exit to then enter to pool area. We were then told our room would not be ready till after 5pm. From that point on it all seemed down hill. we changed our clothers into bathing suits and went to wait at the pool. Saw that there was a food court, But no one explained anthing to us so we ate some food at the pool, which was dried up and nasty next to the pool area.THe staff was not willing to help us at the food section as they didn'y speak any english. By the way the food in the rest of the resort was absoultly terrible .I would not recomend this place to anyone.
THE sky got cloudy so we went back inside, to check on the room again and we were told thet the room will be just a minute and then to return again and was told that it will still be some time yet.
Once we did finally go into our room .it was smelly and not the room I had expected .we had asked for 2 king size beds with a jacuzi tub, we got 2 double beds with a shower tub, that leaked all around the edges of the sourrond an onto the floor each time we used it.
the next day was better,..after a nite sleep, the weather was beatuful and gave us a new look upon the day, the beach was gorgeous and the staff then was heplful and amazing. The young children with the other family we were traveling with, had a good time at the kids club and never went without some thing excititng to do.However my girls are older teenagers and they do have a teen room to hang out in ,BUt no on used it,from the entire guest list. one day i paid for them to get double Massager just for somthing different to do.That was nice for them. Near the end of our trip on a tuesday nite they offered a Beach Party, Again I was dissapointed, The staff geared the Whole, nite towards little kids..I was expecting adult contest Maybe a dance . Instead it was tug of war with little kids and a guy on the loudest microphone whos accent no one could understand.I asked him to Please include my girls somehow ,so later he said all teenagers come out and join in.They did want to do some of the games then. But only with prompting from one girl from the staff who was from pa. after i asked her to .THE nite before I left the resort one of the entertainment staff invited my daughter to go out with him to a nite club, She is 15, She is a beautful girl, whom I'm sure they have never seem so gorgeous, long legs and long blonde hair , with a beautful smile that lights up a room... He told her he could sneak her in because she looks of age. Really ??? When I asked her what he said to her , I was furious . I then saw another entertainment staff worker and asked him how that can happen , and how old this guy was, he told me 37 years old,I wanted to take his job from him.He is the head entertainer, granted he does have a certain carisma,But for him to think My girl was goin to sneak into a nite club,Then go on a date with him
,NOT.... !!!!
I am still goin to report this to the resort.
signed,
Very DIssapointed with everything..."

"The Good:
The entire hotel is extremely clean. The staff is very friendly and provide EXCELLENT service.
The smoothies in the Fruit section of the buffet was AWESOME!
The pools were nice, not crowded at all.
Almost all rooms seem to have an ocean view. It was nice to sit outside on the balcony and listen to the waves.
The Bad:
They constantly try to sell you a tour of the facility and spa services which is very annoying.
The food is not great all around. The restaurants and buffet have great beef, but that's about it. The Mexican section of the buffet does make terrific authentic tacos though.
It could be noisy in the halls at times. If you are a light sleeper (I am not), this hotel is not for you.
The entertainment was terrible. There was volleyball and some pool aerobics, but that's about it.
The outside of the hotel was in need of some maintenance. There was paint chipping all over, the roof of the pool snack bar was falling apart, and the mini golf course needs some work.

"Traveled to Cancun Mexico from November 6th thru 13th.
Booked an all inclusive package. My expectations were a little mixed never having traveled outside of the United States, however for the amount of money we were spending I did not want to be unsatisfied.
Needless to say, I wasn't!!!
Traveling to Mexico is an experience in itself. Be prepared for high pressure sales coming from every direction. At the airport, needing to find transportation to our resort, we were mobbed by several different shuttle companies. All of them wanted to cgarge an arm and a leg. Fortunately my Wife is Mexican and speeks fluent Spanish. She was able to get the fare down to $25 dollars.
When we arrived at the resort, it was amazingly beautiful. The Lobby is very large with a very elegant feel. It is outside, meaning there are no doors to enter, just walk up the stairs (5) and go to the Front Desk. Bellman are very helpfull and very nice as well. The only problem we had with our stay was in the begenning with our room keys. They did not work. We needed to travel to the Front Desk multiple times the first day and a half. Our Bellman was always willing to help and let us in our room and activily tried to help resolve our problem. After the key issue, it was smooth sailing.
Location - The resort is located towards the begenning of the hotel zone but not very far from the major parts where all the night life and shopping are. The local bus (recommended means of travel) is only 9 Pesos one-way) and operates 24 hours a day.
Beach - Is one of the most beautful things I have ever seen. No rocks, Blue Blue, Blue water and great white sand. Deffinately ideal for swimming and or sun bathing.
Food - This is hit or miss. There are menu items which are absolutelty delicious and then there are items that are so-so. They have several restaraunts which are open on a schedule basis, usually with two choices a night. Buffet open during the breakfast and lunch hours. Sometimes the food is warm or even cold, however you learn to know what to choose from. A simple person would complain but being all inclusive and having prety much what ever you want to choose from, you can't go worng. I was always more than satisfied with the food.
Atmosphere - The activities crew was amazing. Inovative ideas centered around family fun. I recommend taking the Queen Cancun cruise on the paddle boat (Wednesday only). We watched the Marquez vs. Pac-man boxing match at the sports bar, (yes it was in Spanish... It's Mexico)
Staff - Housekeeping was amazing. Our room was clean everyday and flawless. Room service was money as well. We needed our mini bar restocked every night and they delivered every time in under 20 minutes. Watch out for the food though, it is usually cold and not as good as if you were to get it from the resturaunt.
Always tip! This is how these people make a living, and as you'll see in other reviews about Mexico, the staff will be greatfull and will deffinately give you outstanding service. That will make your stay all that much better.
Being from Vegas and working for a 5 star resort myself, I was more than pleased and would like to thank to this hotel for making my first international trip a very memorable one.
Deffinately recommend this resort."

"I was very excited about this resort when planning the trip. Most of the reviews were great. We traveled with our three young girls and my parents. The design of the hotel was not great. It was extremely hot in the buffet area to the point that you were too hot to enjoy your meal.
Our room was very plain, it looked more attractive in the photos and video. I had to call twice to have our broken sink fixed that was leaking all over. Our view of the ocean from the balcony was beautiful though.
I did not think much of the food. My husband and I got food poisoning from something we had there as we had not left the resort prior to getting sick. The sushi was awful. I have had better from Costco. I was really looking forward to some good seafood. The restaurant Michelle looked really good, but is adults only and was not open on the nights we had hoped to go. You could not get guacamole or ceviche at all. We finally did get some guacamole one night that they had a party for Mexican Independence day. I thought that was crazy! I had hoped for bottled beer as we had it at the last all inclusive resort we stayed at. I should have looked into that. We saw some people bring their own large insulated cups to have filled which was a great idea.
Even though the food was not great, the service was very good. I was annoyed the rooms did not have a mini bar or at least a fridge. It was annoying to have to call room service constantly for bottled water.
There was only one man working at the swim up bar so sometimes it took forever to get a drink. My father tipped a waitress very well so she was constantly visiting us with fresh drinks.
Our kids loved the pool. We were excited about the water park and kids club but disappointed that it was at the completely opposite end of the other pool. I did not feel comfortable leaving my kids there when it was a long walk to check on them. We ended up spending most of our time in the ocean, which was gorgeous, or the big pools.
My parents' room smelled like sewage. They called the front desk and someone just came and poured bleach down the drains and said 'all fixed' but the room still smelled awful. They were also often woken up through the night by people working and drilling at the resort next door.
When the weekend we were going home approached, we were bombarded by locals. They were everywhere and it became very difficult to get food or drinks.
I thought the entertainment staff were good and engaging.
The property was very slippery when wet. My young daughter was slipping all over and I was constantly holding her hand because she was always slipping. My father actually did slip and fall, but thankfully he was not injured.
We had a good vacation because I believe your time is what you make of it, but I would not return to this resort. "

"We chose to stay at this particular hotel because it listed the most restaurants, HOWEVER, what they do not tell you is that they will only have 2-3 of these restaurants open at any one time. Food was not very good. The housekeeping was excellent. However, the hair dryer did not work and the safe was broken. The Front Desk Staff was horrible and were reluctant to help with even small requests such as changing five 1 dollar bills to a $5 for use in the WiFi card dispenser....even though there was a Money Exchange sign on the desk. We were referrred to the Bellhop who made the change from his personal wallet. The Hotel Reservationist was unavailable for 2 days when asked to communicate with my Travel Agent (Bookit) concerning a problem with my reservations due to cancelled flight. However, there was excellent communication when I gave up and booked an extra day at my expense. I will never stay at this hotel again, nor will I use Bookit.com who was no assistance at all or fly American Airlines who cancelled our flight and lost our luggage."

We just got back on Wed. & had such a great time. The place is beautiful and has so many restaurants and plenty to do. Wendy was great at the front desk and started our vacation off amazingly. The food is good, especially the sushi. We ate it at least once daily. The staff works very hard, some are more friendly than others but all are helpful. The ocean is tops the pools are good too. We especially liked the Adults only pool. We also went to Golden Parnassus one day and had a ball (try a scooby doo or a whos your daddy drink). They have lots of activities by the pool but you can choose to just hang out too. The beach restaurant was really nice, loved the coconut shrimp. The shuttle runs every hour and your there in minutes. The staff their is also super friendly. We plan on going back and recommend it to families and couples. Thanks to all. "

"My siblings had decided to do a family trip this year and the destination was Cancun. My brother picked the Great Parnassus and we stayed there for four days, and it was the best experience ever. If I could I would have stayed longer. The staff is the best, and to be able to eat and drink and dine all you want around the clock, what more can you ask for? I planned to go back within a year or two and I am sure it will be another memorable trip. From the Mentor Family from Jersey. Much Love to the staff, thanks a million."

"The hotel in a short taxi ride from the airport. Rooms were big, nothing fancy. Lots of kids at hotel- my 2 daughters ages 7 and 10 made friends fast. Beach just 50 steps from pool. Did NOT like, your only choice for breakfast was buffet. The Restaurants only open at 6pm, so for lunch it's the buffet (again) or outside grill. Food was not very good. Large choice but not good. Staff very friendly! First time in Cancun- we really liked it but next time would stay further into the hotel zone, ocean waves very rough, but our daughters loved it!"

"Second year back to this resort. Love it even more. Rcvd great service from Kauil at the Magnus (VERY EFFICIENT AND HELPFUL). Guys from entertainment staff were awesome, always kept you laughing and having fun. Made us feel very welcome and entertained every hour on the hour from A.M. to P.M.(LOVE GEORGE AND CARLOS!!) Rooms were clean and housekeeping came everyday like clockwork and always responded to our requests.Great experience for both adults and kids. Only downfall was the college kids arrived from Mexico City four days into our trip and caused kaos at 4A.M.everyday with no one to be held responsible for the chanting, underage drinking and knocking on ppls doors(because they were so drunk). The staff looked as annoyed as we were.. would DEFINENTLY return but not recommended from 5/23- 6/30 (College kids stay for a month during this period) other than that it was PERFECT!!! "
