"We stayed in the Villas and they were absolutely beautiful. Our daughter and son-in-law were in villa above us. We requested our rooms be close together and never asked again, it was done for us. The resort is huge but that was not an issue with us, we loved walking all over and finding new areas each day. The staff work 24/7 to make you comfortable and they spoil you. I would like to praise just a few; Jeremiah(the villa pool bartender), Sergio(waiter La Fondue), Jorge(Best Day Agent at resort), all the staff at the spa, Tere, (tour quide with Best Day) and I am sure there are many more.'We did two tours and I would recommend both, Talum/Xel-Ha and Delphinius at Xcaret. The swim with the dolphins was the best experience and a once in a life time event! We ordered box breakfast for these days and were at the registration desk each morning. Wonderful to take with you on the bus.'We booked reservations for all nights at the restaurants except one. Be sure to do this on your first day. The buffets were beautiful and always different foods. The Thai was lovely, the moon over the ocean was a breath taking view. This waiter was also excellent. This resort is for sure on our list to stay at again, how anyone could complain is beyond me? Bookit was also great to call the resort for us and verify everything since we booked 4 months in advance."

"We just got back from out trip. My husband and I celebrated our 10th year anniversary and we even took our 5 and 7 year old girls with us. I have to say after reading a lot of reviews and 25% rate of dissatisfaction, we were a little worried that we chose the wrong place. But let me tell you, this place met and exceeded our expectations. First of all, the place is absolutely gorgeous, very well kept and extremely clean. The staff are continuously strive to please you. On the beach there were always at least 3 staff members trying to play with kids and find stuff to do for adults. Food was great. We didn`t even have to visit the a la carts, since the food on the buffet was great and variety was fantastic, even for my very picky children. They always found something to eat. The wait staff would come by our table and would make paper napkin mouse and flowers for our kids. One night, we even asked the buffet manager to grill a simple chicken breast for our kids, and it was happily accepted and delivered within minutes to the table. We visited 2 other 5 star resorts during our stay to be with couple of our friends and hands down our buffet food was 100% better than theirs. The alcoholic drinks were a little weak which is understandable in places like these. The resort is big, so if you`re not able to walk or just plain lazy, then this place is not for you. We didn`t have any problems even with our 5 year old walking. Mosquitoes were plentiful but what would you expect, you`re in a tropical climate with lots of water and greenery. The staff did their best to leave bug wipes in the rooms every day. We took our spray with us and didn`t leave the room without first spraying all 4 of us. Water shoes are really not necessary, so don`t waste your money on them. Make sure you buy and take `bio-degradable` sun block with you if you`re planning to go to any water parks or swim with dolphins. They will check and then you`ll end up spending $25 for a $10 bio-degradable SPF bottle. The rooms are big and decorated very contemporary. Our maid service was great and even organized our shoes for us while we were gone!!! Overall, this place is a perfect 10 even for kids."

"We visited earlier this year, and like a few others I was a bit apprehensive after reading some reviews. BUT... that was a mistake! This huge resort is taken care of incredibly well, the service was always great, food was good, and the room was big and very nice. We had lots to do, the resort is a cheap cab ride and 5 minute cab ride to town (Playa del Carmen). They had lots of options for activities to do if all you did was stay at the resort, but also had lots of excursions to do. (My favorite was fishing, I caught a huge barracuda!) The only thing that I thought was kind of boring was the shows. But they had a great band and DJ by the bar in the evening so you could drink and take in some tunes. If after reading someone`s rant about their coffee not being hot enough or something lame like that... just know... those are probably people that will never be happy with anyplace, this place was great!"

"My husband and I just returned from this resort and we have nothing to say but good things. Granted, we would only stay if we had the platinum package. We were actually overwhelmed by the resort and have vowed to never cruise again. The staff was fantastic from Martin and Lorenzo in the dining to the wonderful drivers of the trollies. The food in the restaurants were good. I fulfilled my guacamole and pica de gallo fix and was completely satisfied. The Platinum package awarded us a 24 hr bar and room service. We had a private pool and the staff were amazing. They even helped with crazy shots like the rainbow. Thank goodness for the fantastic little desserts that were presented everyday after 3:30! The Thai Beach Restaurant was a wonderful experience. This is the only pay restaurant on the premises but to the Platinum package participants it was free. The staff was professional and made you feel like you were dining in a 5 star restaurant. I honestly cannot say enough about this resort. We are going to make this resort an annual stop. The only negative thing that we have to say are the rocks and coral in the water, however, had I taken my water shoes that would not have been an issue. I prefer the pool anyway since I live in Florida and can go to the beach at any time. Do yourself a favor and consider this resort. Viva la Princess Sunset! "

"After reading so many reviews on the Sunset Princess after booking it, I was a little apprehensive upon my arrival but my apprehension soon gave way to sheer joy. I simply cannot say enough about my trip to Playa, and the staff of the Sunset made it all the better. The only negatives I could find about the Sunset were the pillows weren`t fluffy enough for my liking on the beds, and the leaking water under the shower which I was prepared for by laying towels down to absorb it. We upgraded to the Platinum suite which I would highly recommend, it`s worth the money. Tips aren`t necessary but are graciously accepted and will get you extra special service which came in handy for us a few times. The entire place was exceptionally clean, staff was all friendly and helpful. They were efficient. Room service (we used it a LOT) was very good. Buffets were all very good, much better than the average buffet and the a la carte restaurants were exceptional. We have traveled extensively and found this vacation to be the best vacation we have ever had. We have never gone back to the same destination twice, but we liked this place so much, we're already planning a return visit. We're telling all our friends and encouraging them to go as well. Two thumbs up!"

"I stayed at the GSP July 22-29, 2009. This resort is absolutely amazing! Yes, it`s very big and you should be prepared to walk to get places, but the landscaping makes the walk worthwhile. There`s also a `shuttle` that operates every 10-15 minutes roundtrip from one end of the resort to the other. The entire resort is well-maintained, most of the staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious, well-prepared, and its presentation is impeccable. MEN: remember to bring long pants to wear at dinner in the restaurants! Also, make reservations for the restaurants before 3pm, as their system doesn`t allow them to make reservations after that time. One other thing: when you enter the buffet areas, there is no signage indicating such, but you should wait to be seated. There is a great deal of variety when it comes to pool options (from a party-type pool with music playing to 1.5 ft. kiddie pools to quiet pools where you can just lounge and read, nap, whatever you desire) and the beach is really well maintained. Note: It would be a good idea to bring water shoes, as there are some rocks both upon entry to the ocean and about 20-30 feet into the water. If you can afford the expense, I strongly recommend upgrading to the Platinum Suite, as the amenities received during your stay are well worth the cost! There were ants, or some type of similar insect, in my room and the A/C didn`t work well (I reported that 4 times, with no improvement, but I didn`t request a room change) but my overall experience was exceptional. This was the most relaxing vacation I`ve ever experienced. I would recommend this resort to friends and family alike, and I hope to return in the near future."

"I just returned from a girls` trip to the Grand Sunset Princess. The resort is very large and landscaped beautifully. Because of the size of the resort, be prepared to do lots of walking. This may be an issue if you have small children. There was a `tram` that ran through the resort to take you places, however, the wait tended to be long, so we ended up walking. There are many pools to choose from and no matter where your room is - there is a pool nearby. There were plenty of lounge chairs and we did not feel the need to wake up at the crack of dawn to put our towels down on chairs to `reserve` them. The beach was ok. Take a pair of water shoes because there were rocks in the water and you could get cut. The rooms were not too bad. We chose to upgrade to the junior suite deluxe so we could be closer to the beach area. The room had a nice huge tub with jets. We did have to move to another room because our a/c was not working - that is something that can happen anywhere. Also, there is no room service unless you are in the Platinum rooms. There were some mornings that I would have rather ordered coffee and breakfast in the room instead of getting dressed and going to one of the restaurants. The food was not too bad. My suggestion would be to make sure that you make your dinner reservations on your first night there for your entire trip. The only problem I had with this resort was that after dinner I wanted to have a cup of coffee with my dessert and they do not offer coffee in any of the restaurants in the evenings. My friends went to the spa and loved their treatments. We all went to the gym and it was well equipped. Overall, it is a fun place to rest, relax, and read. We found that there were many families and I noticed that there was a kids' club were children seemed to be having fun. If you are considering this resort, go ahead and make your reservations and enjoy."

There is always someone working at tidying something up. The room was wonderful with a view of the pool. We didn't like the view of the first room and were moved within five minutes. The beach is beautiful with lots of fun activities to do, such as: archery, volleyball, soccer etc. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The evening shows were entertaining. The entertainment staff works very hard at pleasing everyone. The food was very good. There is lots of seafood for those who like fish and the staff was very attentive. Playa del Carmen is just a few minutes away, which makes this resort very appealing. Tulum was a nice ride and the airport was exactly 30 minutes away. We absolutely loved our week here and would highly recommend it. Yes, there is lots of walking, but with all the food you can eat, it's a welcome exercise."

"We just returned on June 26, 2009. The hotel was wonderful and the staff was great! I am not sure why some reviews are not wonderful. We found the hotel to be efficient. There are few things they could improve on. We had a hard time trying to figure out what the hotel had to offer: show times, kids programs, how to snorkel or do the other 'included' activities and so forth. If they had a schedule, it would help, if they hand it out. The food was good, but we are not picky high-end eaters. We enjoyed the variety on the buffet, but did go to the sit down options in the evenings just to taste the different styles they had to offer. That service was not the best, a bit slow, but we assumed, that is because of the cut back on staff from the swine flu scare, which did seem to damage the tourism. Grand Sunset has two sides and the other side was not even open while we were there. Overall we had a great time. The pool was clean and not crowded, we always found a chair in the shade and the swim up bar staff was very friendly and served quickly. We are hoping to go back again next summer and take our whole family. I would recommend this hotel."

I don't like to plan that much when on vacation. There was only one choice of a restaurant each night. Maybe if/when there are more guest you can have a choice? "At you first step into the beautiful lobby the warm breezes entice you. The check-in didn't go well. We had to lug our bags to our room which was clear on the opposite of the resort. Boy, did we get some funny looks, no one told us where to leave our luggage (7 of us) so off we went. Once in the suite, it was beautiful, very spa-like and spacious. Overall, the resort is worth going back to but this time we know what to look for. No one gave us a schedule of the shows, or what restaurants were open. Only half of the resort was occupied so that led to some confusion as to where the meals were big served. We made reservations for the Italian rest. (Mamma Mia) and the staff there was not very nice. We all (7 of us) ordered at the same time. Half our meals came, then when we were almost finished, the others came, but my son's pizza NEVER did come. The Mexican restaurant was MUCH better and the nightly buffet was different every night and had some of the best food. The staff around the resort was friendly. We stayed Mon-Sat, next time maybe 7 days will be just right. Overall I would give this resort a 4 out of 5 b
