"Me and my wife are both recently retired and watch how we send our money. Although there are much nicer hotels available this is a good value for the money. The staff was very friendly and seemed to be interested in meeting all our needs and whatever we wanted, but we experienced a few draw backs. First we were dropped off at the Hotel next door and had to walk to our Hotel. Check in took about 25 minutes with only one family checking in, in front of us.The walls in the Hotel must be very thin as you can here people from the pool area next door later into the night. The people in the room next to us were extremly loud and after a call to the front desk at 12:30AM Visted by security within a few minutes. We had a water line to toliet spring a leak while we were in the room, but after notifing the maid it took less time to clean up and repair than to check in. The biggest draw back for us was the Hard Sell (90 minute) sales scam that took all morning and spoiled our first day. CUSTOMER BE WARE!"

"First time in CUN, usually book my annual all inclusive at PVR or Dominican. After reading all these reports, I felt I made a mistake. However, as noted other than the long check in time, the facility was extremely nice. Mostly european, a few american clientele. Next door at the sister facility the last week of spring break was winding down..Oh to be 20 again...quite loud, but fun. I have two 12 yo daughters, so we minimized our time next door. Tradionally that facility is family oriented, and this hotel is for the quieter set. The shallower water made me more comfortable with my daughters safety, and after a while it grew on us. We took a bus to the complimentary larger facility..about 20 minutes away, and enjoyed the surf-like waves of the ocean side..albeit lotsa rip tides. Absolutely breathtaking views. splashed around, pooled about, great Italian restaurant and returned home. I couldn't get enough of the brazilian barbeque at the main restaurant at our hotel. We had access to about 6 restaurants between the 2 facilities, and never waited in line. 7 days/ 6 nites, one of the biggest bangs for my buck in all of my all inclusive endeavors."

"Between waiting in lines endlessly while checking in and out. Being given the hard sale through out the entire trip, and then being told incorrect information repeatedly I would never return to this resort again. We paid for the all-inclusive package that was to include everything (aka.black bracelets) and every time we turned around we were told that it wasn't included. For example; room service, pick up and or drop off at our hotel as opposed to the resort right next door, certain restaurants etc. You could here everything clearly going on in the rooms next door, and also anything going on outside or down the hall ways. We were told we would have access to snacks in our room/mini fridge, but they were all removed day two of our stay for some unknown reason. We were told we would have a mini-bar in our room. We did not. We had a mini fridge and were limited to 2 beers, 2 sodas, and 2 waters per day. All and all were mislead, and we do not feel we got the service or the value out of the package we paid for. Very disatisfied customer that will never return!!!"

"I stayed in this resort for a week, the beach is the dirtiest beach in cancun with a lot of algies, the food was ok, the people at the front desk not too friendly, we got only two bottles of water per day only, we call the for more water several times no luck, the so called mini bar in the room had only two bottles bear and bottle of coke and a bottle of sprite, there are much better resort then this."

"Firstly The hotel entrance is hidden by trees, we drove and missed the entrance twice. There was'nt anyone to greet or assist us with our luggage when we arrived. Then the extremely long checkin over half hour. The rooms were nice and clean but most of the staff were rude and seemed bothered to do their jobs with the exception of a few.To us the whole atmosphere seemed unwelcomingand a bit too restrictive, we spent most of our time downtown because there was not much to do,the facilities seemed to all close at the same time. This was our first time to Cancun for the summer."

"My husband and I went with my son and his family. The grandkids are 4 & 6 years old. We had a wonderful time. The kids especially loved it. The food & drinks were very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I can say that we were not happy about was the check in desk. We waited nearly 45 minutes in line to check in, there was only one person to check guest in. Other than that ,we will be certainly returning."

"Celebrated 2011 xmas at the wrong resort! When we first arrived at the resort the waterfall outside was a swamp green colour and had a bad odour. Staff at the front desk were the worst to communicate with. I asked for an iron with 5 different staff and they said OK, 2 days later no iron? For a big resort there are only 2 elevators which half the time one was always out of service. At the time we went the hotel was catching up with renovations - painting, drywall work, and loud noises in the morning? The water in our room stopped running 3 times, unfortunately all times were when we had showers in the evening after the day at the beach. There is signs of water damage around the resort with ceiling patches of mold and buckets catching water leaks from the ceiling. Our 3 rooms had room service? which will take anywhere from 6 hrs to bring your order once they understand what you required. Staff could not understand basic english so you'll have to go with the flow and have alot of patience. The 2nd time I ordered room service (yes, I was crazy enough to try again) it was up to 2 hrs after the order and finally went down to the front desk at 2am and the manager at the desk said we do not have a room serice package? At this time I did not want to argue and said i'll pay, you call room service and talk to them about my food, he tried for 5 minutes and got no answer (never got the rm service?). Long story short talked to another staff another day and they said we had the room service package, so what ever... The beach on the other hand was good, that is what we really went for. The only thing to watch for is the covered up areas of sand bags on the beach? One of these bags was exposed and my mom was walking and kicked the bag and bruised her toe, I know you should see where you are walking but why are there sand bags buried around the beach area? The worst thing was we got ripped off on our excursion from one of the resorts company. We paid for 5 cataraman cruise only to find out that the day of our excursion all the boats were full. So, they sent us to a cheaper looking villa where we boarded a cataraman. We only got a ride to an island and served lunch off the island to another area in a shack. There were no one there only us? So, we were suppose to parasail, snorkel in a shallow water, take pictures with a shark and have a huge lunch buffet? This did not occur, so once we got at the hotel we found out that our excursion we went on with my 5 yr old daughter was not licensed and had no permit!! So, I lost it on the manager of the excusion company and wanted an explanation he said give him 24 hrs to look into the matter, I said OK. When I talked to him the next day he said he fired the staff and could not do anything as he no longer works for the company? So, we got no refund, sorry, another excursion, or an apology! On Christmas day we asked a manager of a restaurant inside the hotel if we can reserve as we are a total of 17 people, he said yes what time? At 7pm we all went to the restaurant the time we told the manager and there was no reservations so we sat at 4 different tables. One time there was a fresh pasta section available at the buffet line but no cook? So, I asked 2 different cooks to prepare a simple pasta dish for my 5 yr old and they said to eat off the buffet line. So, why have the pasta section filled with food, sauces and toppings with no cook? There was no christmas celebration at the hotel besides staff wearing santa hats. I guess you might get the point of this comment be carefull booking at this resort. The only thing we enjoyed as a family was the the water, sections of the beach and the drinks. In fact when we travel we always make the best of our travels! We have travelled to the Caribbean islands, Africa, Europe and have never written a comment about a resort until now. Spend your hard earned dollars at another resort that will appreciate you."

"This is written in conjuncture with my family:

Cancun is a great city and definitely would like to visit again. Beaches are gorgeous, lots of activities for all including kids.

Our feelings about stay at Grand Oasis Palm were mixed. The housekeeping staff, restraunt staff and other general staff were very friendly and did a great job to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. However, staff at front desk and guest services were sub-optimal. Especially, staff at front desk were confused about the package we had got from Bookit.com and would give a different explanation each single time we spoke to them, specifically, they gave us contradicting information about room service. When we purchased the package we were told that room service is included but to our surprise, on arrival at hotel, they were trying to convince us that the room service was not included and we had to pay for it.... Just ridiculous.. finally after an hour of arguing with the management we got the free room service taken care of and after all this... every room service boy and restaurant staff would say 'you have golden bracelet- your room service is free' what a disconect??

We paid additional price for ocean view room however on arrival we were told that all the ocean view rooms were full?? We asked for to rooms adjacent to each other but were given on wo different floors -- and again the reason given was that the rooms were full - then I dont understand the meaning of booking in advance and paying for services you never got.

WiFi service is a joke. Looks like this is the only hotel in this zone that does not provide free wifi. You can buy internet service at a hefty price of $8 for 1/2 hrs or $10 for one hour or 24hrs for $20, however it is only accessible in the hotel lobby (not anyware else including your room / restaurant/pool side etc..) and even that was not available for 3 of the seven days we stayed there?? -- once again we had to pay for a service we never got to use!!

Overall, we would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cancun. There are atleast 25 other hotels on the same road (Kukulcan) in the hotels zone and hence no dearth of choice."

"Where do I start.. one of the most difficult places I have stayed at. From check in to check out everything was a hassle. The front desk people were so immature it was unbelievable. They could not think on their own at all. No professionalism to be found.

The hotel design is very poor in that the central pool is shaded just about all day and freezing.

This will be hard to believe but internet was just about nonexistent. There was two couches you could sit on to obtain a slow connection that took too long to even get mail.

The beach was so small that if the place was filled, and it was about one third occ. there would be no room for the guests. The beach was no deeper then your knees and was littered with seaweed.

The place is all inclusive but it is very limited in menu selection. A common drink like a mojito is not to be had. You have to make reservations in the restaurants for dinner and you have a limited time in the afternoon to do so if you are out for a day trip you wont be able to eat at the restaurants only the buffet.

Another real surprise next to the internet is that the rooms have no coffee maker and the restaurants do not open early.

They were so concerned about these towel cards and the towels were old shabby towels.

We happen to have ended up with a young 20's crowd that were so obnoxious and loud it was crazy but i did not blame the hotel for that as i think the staff were afraid of them.

At eight in the morning a guy would knock on the door to come in and check the mini bar, and yes they charge $2.50 for a can of soda..

I would not ever stay there again obviously."
