"this hotel sucks!!! the rooms are terrible and small. the air conditioning barely works and i complained several times to management at the front desk and vip services and they said they would take care of it but no one ever showed up to fix the ac. so finallly i just gave up. there is no ac in any of the restaurants for that matter so its really hot when you eat. the service is terrible and food is awful. they say its all inclusive but you have to pay for a lot of things. DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!!!"

"Positive: Overall, I love the property. It is spacious with a good amount of green space. It seemed like the rowdy group was on one side of the property and the quieter folks were on the other side. The bus system is easy to use and frequent.
Neutral: The check-in was laborious. They are going through some renovations changing over some of the rooms from Oasis to Oasis Grand. The 'grand' part is for the ammenities. I stayed there twice before and ended up in the same 'grand' room, as I was a 'regular' room. The only difference was some cheezy lighting and everything was white. The bathroom was a bit nicer however.
Negative: I was assured me that I was in the main pyramid. We were not. We tried for two consecutive days for a room change and were pushed off, lied to, and otherwise waited out. We figured our Vacay time was much better spent elsewhere than hanging in the lobby waiting to find anyone, anywhere, with authority. The food was to be expected. They try to dress it up a bit, but overall....we are talking cruise food. Every restaurant had basically the same stuff...and not much of the place was air conditioned. Our room had a mediocre, at best AC.
Recommendation: I would stay there again, but recognize the expectations. I would stay in the regular room, pay the value rate, and enjoy the property and excursions. I don't know how to book a room in the grand pyramid, but if you have to have access to the 'VIP lounge'...you have to go with a grand upgrade, regardless of the room. Me, personally, as I've stated. I'm not a fluff type. I would opt for the value price and center my vacay around the other options in Cancun.
LAST THOUGHT: Stay away from time-share sales. We wasted about 2.5 hours at the Krystal. I had never felt unsafe in Cancun before that day. We lost valuable time, lost the tickets, and it was a big pain to get our money back. The 'closers' (2) were the worst and my GF walked out...
Hope this helps..........:-)"

"We booked this hotel after reading many both positive and negative things about it, and decided we would take the chance as it looked quite nice. When we arrived were were pleasantly surprised at how nice the lobby is, beautiful open concept with nice foilage and marble flooring. However, that's where the positives end. At check in were were given our bracelets for the hotel, then a few minutes later were told they didn't have a room for us and would have to stay at the Oasis Sens 5 mins away. Well, how long we asked? Just for a night we were told, then we could come back. Arghh, well fine, we won't let one night bother us. We were transferred to the Sens hotel and stayed the night. The next day we asked the Sens hotel staff to contact the Grand Oasis to ask when we could come for our room. Nope, there was still nothing. I got on the phone and had an argument with their staff as they basically said we would be staying at the Sens for the duration. The next day we were suckered into going to the Oasis presentation for their vacation club for their reward of '700 Oasis Pesos'. The presentation was at the Grand Oasis. Perfect, we thought, we will talk to the front desk. After a 2.5 hour high pressure sales pitch from the Grand sales people, we talked to the front desk. No, still nothing. Surely there must be rooms available? There are people checking out every day!! Why are we not getting our room? 'Spring breakers' we were told, please call me on Thursday, we were told Thursday we tried contacting them, and the front desk would not even answer their phones. The staff at this place is there to take your money and give lip service, and not much else. After wasting an entire day in total of our trip we never did get to stay here, even though their information says there are no spring breakers allowed on the grand side. I will never book with an Oasis hotel again anywhere, and probably never go back to Mexico again after this trip (we had been before, and had a good time), because they apparently are incompetent and only care about your money. Not to mention the hordes of people we met at the Sens hotel that were also bumped. This hotel does not care if they overbook they just want your money and will send you where they want when you get there. The front desk even admitted to sending people to downtown Cancun in other hotels, nowhere near the beaches. Absolutely disgusting."

"We were supposed to stay at Grand Oasis but when we got there they told us that we should switch to Oasis Sens because there were so many spring breakers at the hotel. When in reality they were over booked. They told us that Oasis Sens had the same restraunts...that was a lie. There weren't nearly the same amount of bars or restaurants at Oasis Sens. The Grand Oasis had a Brazilian steak house and a seafood restaraunt and Sens didnt have either of these. They didn't use name brand liquor at Sens either. We were also told that Sens was a higher category and it wasn't. I previously have stayed at Grand Oasis so I knew what the differences were at the 2 places.
At Sens you have to get up at 5 a.m. To get a chair at the pool. People move your towels and it causes conflict between the guest. Certain bartenders pressure you to tip for better service. Food at buffet was not very warm most of the time. I have been to Cancun several times and this was my least favorite experience. I felt like we were lied to and was disappointed because I was looking forward to staying at Grand Oasis."

"During our checking process,we were told we would not be happy at this resort because of all the young spring breakers so they moved us to the Oasis Sens.We were told that this would be quieter and is a nicer resort..We found the food to be average at best and the staff had difficulty communicating or understanding English. Our daughters room never had cable TV sevice after calling several times.Had difficulty getting a cab.Very persistent on sellling timeshare and asking for tips.Needs to come up with a better policy on beach chairs.People put towels the night before and expect to be held.We had a couple confortations on this issue."

"The resort advertize no Springbreakers yet all we had were young kids drinking all night and yelling. One night out of our six was normal and the staff did little to help. The staff and management are very weak in general, the Resort could be above adverage with just a little work. We felt the the food was good, the resort was very nice, clean, and the low level staff were great. The front desk could of been replaced by any one and it would of helped. There was at least 10 workers at the front desk when we checked in and only one person was checking people in and the other nine were looking like they were buzy. Checking out was the same game, it took me three time to do thier express check out."

"I read through all the reviews before booking with this hotel, and to be honest, I was a bit nervous. Well, we went and shared some of the same negatives as other people, but I feel like the overall experience was great. We went during Spring Break (unfortunately and unintentionally), but the resort is large enough that we stayed on one entire half and it was calm. quiet and relaxing. We did venture to the other side and it was loud and filled with a young crowd, but really was best case scenario given the situation. All the bartenders were fast, efficient, friendly and accomodating. Absolutely no problem there. The complaints about towels are kind of ridiculous. They give you a card to redeem towels at the beginning of each day, and if you return your towel, you get a new card. it's a simple concept, so I'm not sure why the poor reviews there? Water bottles are a bit of an issue, though, as mentioned. They only give you two when you check in, and then you have to request every time you want another one. They will bring it to your room, but you may have to remind them more than once. Drink water when you're at the bar and restaurants, and it's not such an issue. Overall, clean and friendly and few complaints. Nowhere is perfect ."

"the weather was great. the water was beautiful. The resort needs help. I would bypass this resort. It is huge. I travelled with a total of 12 family members and everyone had different issues. My 87 year old mother travelled with me and we would have loved to have had access to a wheel chair just to ease her walking the great distances needed to get everywhere. The Grand Oasis Cancun on had one wheel chair for the entire complex. I personally got to know their maintence department with the daily phone calls to fix the AC problems which they never were able to repair. They just set the AC at 50 degrees banged a screw driver around afew times and said 'It's fixed, okay?' Whatever.

"Overall, the experience was poor. This may have been a great resort many years ago but today it is not. Everything from checking in, to getting a room, to finding towels, to getting bottled water was more than frustrating! Not only did they lose one of the reservations they were not easy in helping find a soloution. And when they did they gave us a room that was already occupied. I found the staff to be very un-helpful and rude, and they did not have any compassion even when the error was made by them. The pool area was beautiful and kept very clean however they ran out of beach towels and you would be lucky to find seating ANYWHERE near the pool or on the beach. One thing that people would want after a long day in the sun would be a bottle of water and if you had exhausted the 2 bottles left in your room..maybe... you would be lucky to get any more. The rooms were not cleaned very well and they rarley left fresh towels to use. The shower leaked all over the counter soaking anything and everything left on it. We had paid EXTRA for a mini bar and the one in our room consisted of warm beverages on the dresser and no fridge..some mini bar you would also be lucky if it got restocked without you complaining to them to do so. The beach area was beautiful and the water was great. Needless to say I will more than likely return to Cancun but I WILL NOT return to this resort. The motto on the back of their shirts is 'Oasis loves you' and that is not a slogan that they lived up to at all. There are too many other hotels to choose from to accept the type of service and treatment that this one provided during our time there. Taking to managment got us nowhere but frustrated. If you want to have a relaxing care-free vacation than this resort is not the one to do it at."

"The service was OUTSTANDING.. The room needs updating but it was OK.
The food at everyone of the restaurants was great. We had a little issue with our AC and my wife called maintenance, I really think they were just down the hall because within 5 minutes they were knocking at our door and fixed the problem right away.
Our only complaint was at time of checking in ... we had to wait until 3:00pm for our room and were never advised where at the reception area we had to go back. Restaurants could use MORE air condition or fans.
We advised at time of check in that we were celebrating our anniversary and we never received and upgrade or basket as advised on the description of ammenities"

"It was my 3rd stay at Grand Oasis Cancun. This one was very very bad. On the first day I reported the following to the reception: air conditionning working only on high if turned off everything was damp; my passport was curled from humidity, bathtub no draning and rusty, no coffee maker, no iron and ironing board, TV not working properly, no supplies in the bathroom, mini bar not refilled with water and/or other stuff. The air conditionning was never fixed. the 'repair man' tried to convince me it worked.
This was my 3rd and last stay in Grand Oasis."

"The hotel is a great value! It was all inclusive which included mini bar and room service! The entertainment was good and the food was ok. The rooms however are outdated and lackluster. When we turned on the hot water the water came out of the tap yellow. Well the kids club was on the other side of the island and no motorized sports were included. "We just returned from a 10 day stay at this resort. It was very clean and beautiful. Most employees were very polite, kind and accommodating. The check in and out process does need improvement. Needed to go back three times to the check in desk before our room was ready. The grand is much more oriented to families. The pools are cleaner and they seem to pay more attention to detail. The Oasis side was very loud and a college students paradise, not what we were interested in. My check out process was another story. Our 12 year old lost her bracelet (which we were instructed to wear the entire visit). However, we were not told there was $100 fee for a lost bracelet. The concierge was not empowered to assist us and his manager was not willing to come and speak with me after I requested to talk with him. They did reduce the fee to $50 but were unwilling to discuss the matter any further. This experience tainted my experience at this resort..Tuesday nights there is a beach party which prevented my family from being able to fall asleep. My husband walked to the nearest store to buy ear plugs. I would return to the Cancun area but not this resort. tipping the staff does get you better service. Bring a hundred of one dollar bills and your stay will be much more pleasant. The exterminator came into our room to spray on our last full day there leaving behind a toxic smell and wet chemical on the floor. We quickly opened the sliding door and put on shoes. Honestly our vacation went well for the most part until the last day. Pros: very friendly, clean, plenty of places to eat, easy access to public bus route, near shopping, beautiful beach, lifeguards, VIP lounge is very nice, 10 minutes from the Cancun airport Cons: room service took 2 hours to receive food, extra hard pillows, non efficient check in process, once your stay is complete they are not willing to help you as they became rude and abrupt, no kids club ,difficult to find a pool chair if you don't get one before 9:00, loud on Tuesday nights due to a beach party"

"The price I paid for the package was way too high for the service and deals we actually received. Ended up paying for stuff when we got there that we were told were already included but clearly weren't. The resort is very nice but the hotel service is very poor. The sense of urgency does not really exist there. We asked for a ocean front room with two beds and were given a room with only one bed and they refused to honor any of our request even when stated on paper. Overall would not do this again nor would I recommend to others."

"We stayed during the Christmas-New Year's week; it was crowded but OK. The black wrist band (for the Grand Oasis rather than the Oasis purple, gold band) is a must! The food was decent in most restaurants. The drinks were fine, but you will need to bring a decent size cup. A $1.00 tip will go a long way to getting you quicker service on subsequent visits to the bar, or from the wait staff. The room was small but clean. Again, a $1.00 tip was placed on each bed each day and the mini bar was re-stocked. If you want to go to the fancier restaurants make reservations well in advance (maybe before you leave home if traveling during high season). The towel check-in/out is a pain but5 it does keep the wet towels out of your room. The BIG complaint we had was people 'reserving' the limited number of lounges and cabanas on the beach by placing towels, etc. on them and then not coming back for hours and hours (literally up to 8 hours without a person using these). I strongly urge the resort to re-think this arrangement as it is unfair to the vast majority of beach goers who are left without while others have but don't use. I believe the solution is a check in/out system similar to the towel system, but it doesn't exist, yet. Bring your own googles/mask for the beach."

"After booking Grand Oasis 6 months ago, I got extremely nervous reading bad reviews. Now that we're back I feel obligated to take the time to write a truthful review so that future travelers know what to expect.
My boyfriend and I travelled to Grand Oasis Cancun for 5 nights in April for a relaxing get-away, we are a young couple in our 20s. After a travelling fiasco of 'accidentally' cancelling our hotel reservation (long story) we called Grand Oasis numerous times and spoke to numerous staff and were assured that everything was re-booked and our ocean front room king bed would be ready. Line was about 25 minutes, got to the desk and they had our room but only 2 double beds. From previous reviews this sounded like a common problem.. DO NOT JUST SAY OK AND TAKE THE WRONG ROOM! We were told there were ZERO rooms with king beds available, complained (as we should have) and magically keys to a king size ocean front room were given to us. No one to carry baggage (wasn't really a huge deal at the time) until we got to our new room and discovered people were ALREADY STAYING IN THAT ROOM. Luggage, Louis vutton bags, clothing, scattered all over the room we were just given. We thought this was so wrong --went back to the desk and argued and finally given an unoccupied king bed ocean front room (not sure why this one wasn't 'available' when we checked in?). It was beautiful, clean, mini fridge stocked, house keeping everyday. The only problem was the AC vent took air OUT of a smoking room -- so our nonsmoking room smelled like someone was smoking cigarettes in it the whole time, which we couldn't really do anything about.
FOOD - generally pretty bad. I do not consider myself a tough critic whatsoever and am very grateful and open to all foods. Buffet is HORRIBLE - please don't even waste your time. Cold and disgusting. We did not eat in a restaurant the first 2 days we were there because reservations have to be made by 9am THE DAY BEFORE, so if you check in after 9am you are not eating dinner in a restaurant the first 2 days. There are however some restaurants which do not need reservations - I recommend the Italian trattoria which was easily the best meal of our trip. For reservations - Cocoa seafood was really good. Dos Lunas the other Italian reservation, great food but our meal was ice cold and it is located next to the pool so all you hear is kids screaming and splashing while you are eating at a restaurant you had to wait 2 days to eat at. The Tapas place is RIDICULOUS -- never anyone in there, only 1 menu and you have to BUY A BOTTLE OF WINE to even enter the restaurants. Not all inclusive. Also at almost every restaurant half the menu is all inclusive and the other half if self-pay (all the good stuff, shrimp steak lobster etc....) All the restaurants are privately-owned (Not by Oasis) so that's why the quality varies so much.
On the other hand - staff was all friendly. Spa was EXCELLENT. You cannot beat the beach. Gorgeous. Ground well-kept as everyone says. We did not have the 'spring break' problem on our side. Many younger kids though. No problems finding chairs on beach if you get up at a decent time -- meaning before 10am.
Bottom line -- SPEND THE EXTRA FEW HUNDRED BUCKS and stay at a nicer resort with better (and more accessible) food that is actually all inclusive. I wish we had. The money is not worth it for just the beach. However, if you already booked don't panic. You will still enjoy yourself just take tips on where to eat and where to stay away from!!!"

"When we got there, we had to wait 3 hours for our rooms to be ready. When we finally got them, it was not what we booked. For my wife and I they gave us two double beds and they told us they don't have a king size bed that we requested since the beginning. The door of my children's room and our room were broken and we called to get them fixed 5 times. finally they fixed them the second day. One of the beds in my room broke, they gave us another room with the king size bed but we had to sacrifice the ocean view that we had in the former bedroom.
The most horrible experience was to make reservations for dinner. Out of the 5 days that we stayed there, we only had a nice dinner once. We had to wake up very early to make a line at 7 am to make reservations for a good dinner. Definitely, I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. It was overprice."

"Great beach!!
Never enough chairs by the beach and pool unless you get up at 7am.
Crazy that you have to sign up for the restaurants daily in the am on the day you want to eat. The line was forever so we just gave up. They should have had a better system than that. Many restaurants were out of food. You could only choose two items, they were out of the rest. We came back two days later and they said the same thing. Would try a different hotel next time."

"The grand oasis is a 3.5 stars. Room service was good, but dirt from room was pushed into hallway. Beds were comfortable, nice flat screen tv. Nice colored lighting throughout with display of vegetation in lobby. Nice pools and beach. Really liked hamburg, icecream little lighted restaurant. Should have different ways to signup for restaurants. Pet peeve was to please keep the tablecloths cleaner in dining areas. Sometimes, yuck! I got sick before I went home, but think it was the flu. Overall I think it would be a good place to take all my young married children, many there, and close downtown cancun."

"This is my boyfriend and I third time at this hotel, the other two were great. This time was horrible. The power was out for one full day, the next day there was no water in the room. The rooms smelled of mold, a little is acceptable because of tropical wheather but we came home smelling of mold. We never once had our mini bar restocked and could not get a bottled water from anyone. We had to go off the resort to buy some. They cleaned our room only one time, even after tipping. They would not bring towels to our room even after asking. If you ever got a hold of the front desk or room service it would take two hours or longer to get the food, and they were not friendly even after tipping. Getting even a beach towel was hard to do, they asked if we had towels in our rooms when we asked for room, we said NO, we DONT .. on top of that most of the resteraunts were not open and neither were the swim up bars. The bar we did go to by the market place was awsome, but only because they were tipped well. We were there dec 9 through the 14. we usually go in may. Even so, just because it is off season, there is no reason for this. We will never stay here agian!"

"Staff is friendly. Most speak english and can understand your current needs. Grand Oasis is a Must for upgraded food plan however unless your a rum and coke kind of person, drink selection is limited. The Mixers are not the same as in the states. Only Liquor recognizable that is available is Bacardi or Captain Morgan (available at 2 bars). Bathrooms were dirty but clean enough for a party week. Pools were extremely hot, so no hot tubs were needed. I did not find the pools to be refreshing however they were less salty than the ocean. The scenery and wildlife was amazing. The beaches were unbelievable. Breakfast was ok at the Market and at the VIP lounge everywhere else it was below average. They had a steak place that served unlimited meats for dinner that I would have easily paid 100 dollars for in the states. Bring lots of suntan lotion and a drinking cup that keeps things ice cold for the pool. If you do not, it will cost you an arm and a leg upon arrival. (30 bucks or more for sun tan lotion or drinking mugs) If you are a partyer, the club scene is definately worth it, nightlife is nothing like the states....travelers are so friendly and want to have a good time. 7 nights was a little much for me, we were done on day 4 however a secret stash of US alcohol would have changed that..... By Day 7 I would have given 30 bucks for 6 pack of bud light........ in fact I did. Thats how much I missed American beer....even corona was nowhere to be found. Bring money for tips......completely changes your experience 1 dollar here and there goes a long way. Senor Frogs and a club called The City are a must about a 15 minute cab ride from the resort. Coyote Loco is a resort club free to enter with go go dancers. Beautiful girls and good music....still no decent alcohol. I'm in my 20's and like to party hard, this made the resort good for me and my friends however if you are looking to relax you can do this here as well.......just stay on the grand oasis side. Free upgrade to Ocean view will land you in a lesser quality room. Garden view rooms are the way to go in the main pyramid. However scenery of the ocean front is fantastic........good luck. Bring cash. Transfer to pesos before you go if you plan to use them otherwise american money works."

"I would recommend this Resort. However the check in and check out desk needs a lot of training. Our room was not ready when we arrived. We arrived well after check in time. The staff told us to eat and come back to desk to see if our room was ready. No one informed us where to go for a meal. Some of the restaurants needed reservation. The resort is huge and we felt lost. When we came back to the desk we still ended up waiting. It was after 6pm and check is was suppose to be at 3pm.
On leaving we were to leave at 4am. There was one women at the counter. Our prepaid transit was waiting for us. He left us and we ended up taking and paying for a taxi as representative was alone at the desk and could have cared less that we needed to be checked out. Which took a few minutes once she got around to us. This left a BAD reflection of the resort. Our last connection with the resort was horrible.
If the resort reads this my recommendation would be to clean up the checkin and out desk.!!"

"First of all I think the chech-in and out need to be improved. There are about 10 people working at the concierge desk, but they all seem incompetent and unfriendly. They mess up reservations, names, papers. The expedite check out is more ridiculous! Don't waste your time to wait in line to do this expedite service the night before you leave, because when you're ready to leave you still have to wait in line like every one else to get the 'exit ticket' to leave the hotel.
The resort is truly nice, with lots of restaurants. The foods however are just so so, one night at the Tiku (buffet restaurant next to Coyote) the shrimps were stinky! The menu at a-la-carte restaurants is limited to 2 or 3 main courses, and of course, you still have to wait over 1/2 hour if you dine after 7 pm to get the foods, and most of the foods are either salty or a bit overcooked.
I booked an ocean view room in pyramid. The room is pretty clean, the bed is just ok. 'Towels game' makes it hard to find lounges on the beach and by the pool, as early as 8 am all the lounges are covered with towels claiming possession!
The entertainment staff is outstanding. Because of these guys and gals my vacation here was not totally ruined!"

"All was as agreed, stay Jan 15 through Jan 25-2012.
Booked an Ocean View Room, received same, stay only in Playa 2, which are room numbers 3101-3556, 3101 being ground floor, 3556 being the suites on the top floor, try to stay on floor 4 for the best views, wheel chairs forget it, one central shaft elevator in the middle of each floor, no way to reach elevator except with help, Playa 1 will put you in the younger party section, where you do not want to be, unless you do not want to sleep, party crowd area. Advertised 42 inch tv did not happen, only 18 inch, however tv 's were being up-graded when we were there. Airport-Hotel transfers were as agreed, however keep your head down and go directly outside to avoid time-share folks, however to receive your return transfer, you must go downstairs to listen to the local sales pitches for out of the hotel activities, which I am sure Best-Day gets a piece of, transfers were provided by BEST-DAY, when I went downstairs to receive my transfer return reservation, the BEST-DAYS agent had an attitude when I told him, I wanted no sales pitch on anything and that I did not appreciate him being 20 minutes late, and me waiting in line for 30 minutes to receive an item which I pre-paid. Food services including room service were good and on time, food in the mess hall was decent, however, eat just enough to get by until evening and make reservations, required for the nicer eateries. Ice machine worked half the time, however for the services provided staff was great and except for the Best Day' s agent, all was good. Grounds, pool, room, and room service, all worked well.
PRINT OFF YOUR BOARDING PASS FOR YOUR RETURN, or you can wait in line for 30 minutes to do so, use the Baggage handlers on your return trip, we flew American coming back, with boarding pass in hand and a 5.00 dollar tip we were looking for the gate within 10 minutes after we arrived at the airport, I would not use the hotel again, this was my THIRD trip to Grand Oasis, over a five year span. "At first, I was a little iffy about staying at the Grand Oasis on this trip. We were in Cancun over Thanksgiving, and stayed at the Westin Regina and had a good experience, but we wanted an all-inclusive this time around. Before we booked our trip with Bookit.com, the reviews weren't too bad for the resort. However, after booking, negative reviews poured in from during the Christmas & New Year time. My husband and I were very worried that our stay would not be a good one. However, we remained hopeful that they were just very busy during the holiday period, and that our trip would not be the same/. I'm glad we still stayed there! I would definitely recommend this resort to most of our friends. (On a side note/ make sure you get the black bracelet and request an Ocean View/Ocean Front room.)
Check-in and the room/. We arrived to the hotel around 8:00 p.m. on the 7th. The resort is gorgeous! The main building (the pyramid) is absolutely beautiful on the inside! Our check-in went smoothly. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We had booked an Ocean View Room in the Ocean Front building, and that is what we got. After getting everything assigned and they went through things to do and not to do (DO NOT lose your bracelet or towel cards!!), we were to our room within 30 minutes of arriving to the resort. I was a little unsure of our room at first as the lighting wasn't great, the TV was an older %u2018box-style', the décor wasn't %u2018modern' per say, and there were some other little things that worried me. The bed was comfortable though, there was plenty of room in the closet and dresser, the room was fine for space (not huge, but not small either), and there was always hot water. (One downside to the water was that you could tell it was treated as it had a distinct smell to it, but it wasn't horrible.) Our balcony showed off a gorgeous view of the beach and Caribbean Sea, and there was privacy, which was nice, too!
The resort itself/. One word to sum up this resort/ BEAUTIFUL! The grounds are gorgeous! They're kept up very well, and truly are beautiful! The pools are clean, the buildings are the flowers are blooming, the bars/restaurants are in immaculate shape, and the restrooms were clean, too! One of the neat things was that there are Peacocks roaming around the entire resort. When we were eating at the bar near our room and the beach, we had one peacock come up to us. She was beautiful and very friendly/ she even took food right out of my hand! It was really neat! The pool area has a lot of chairs to lounge on and layout on. The beach is great! For Cancun, they really do have a larger beach area. They had pool volleyball going on almost all day, and there were plenty of chairs to lie out and relax on.
The food and entertainment/ The food was great here! We didn't get around to trying all of the restaurants, but we did enjoy the ones we got to! The Brazilian steakhouse was great/ the meat was so tender and had great flavor! Dos Lunas (the Italian restaurant) was AMAZING! We went there our last night, and wish we would have eaten there soon as we would have gone back. It was a five course dinner, and it was delicious! We were so full after we were done there! During our dinner there, we had a show put on for us. The resort had brought in six dancers/singers from Spain. They were great entertainment, and did a fabulous job! They even got a few of the people from the crowd up to Tango and dance with them! Room Service on the resort is 24 hours/ we used this a lot! If we needed a snack to tide us over for dinner, and if we needed a late night (early morning) meal after partying, we ordered. The food was always great, the orders were always correct, and the longest we had to wait was about 35 minutes! The buffets were always great, too, and were always fresh! We never had to wait too long to get in anywhere, and the staff was always fabulous! Although it's included in your stay, we would still tip our servers for their help since they did such a great job!
Cancun itself/ Cancun is an amazing place! Although you see people of all ages, there is definitely a party feel to the town. The nightlife is some of the best we've been to, and there is always something to do! There is a great variety of malls, restaurants, excursions, night clubs, and so much more! We went to Market 28 this trip, but found that most of the vendor's prices were higher than in the Hotel Zone area. It was still a fun experience though! I would definitely recommend eating at the following restaurants while in Cancun/ La Madonna (La Isla Mall) is some of the best Italian food I've ever had. They have a table-side made Cesar Salad that is to die for! (And I'm NOT a salad fan, but this is the 3rd time we've visited the restaurant in 6 weeks/ twice on our first stay and once this last stay!) Captain's Cove has amazing Sea Food/ try the Sea Bass with a teriyaki glaze/ YUM!! The Sea Horse (near the Riu) is a great little locally owned bar that has great drinks and pizza! (And they have American Football, which is hard to find at times!) Also, don't be afraid to try out the local Mexican restaurants. We ate at a couple, and were never let down! We travel quite often, and Cancun is one of our favorite places to go! I can't wait to get back there!!
Overall/ The Grand Oasis is a nice resort. I would give it a 3.5 or 4 out of 5 stars. I can see where it probably used to be one of the top Cancun resorts, but it does need to have some modifications done to bring it back to that standard. I don't know if I would go there on a family vacation, but if it were just my husband & I or some friends going down to have a good (party) time, then I would stay here again. We did see and meet people from all over and of all ages, but the majority of the guests we saw were probably younger than 35/ a lot were probably in their 20's, which would include my husband & I who are 24. It's a gorgeous resort, and it's easy to relax! If you go here, just don't expect to have a 5-Star resort. If you go with an open mind, and you'll have a great time!! As far as Cancun goes/ we'll definitely be back in the near future! Even with all the places we've been in the world, it's definitely one of our favorites!! :)

"I stayed at the grand oasis cancun January 8-12 2012. I had an amazing time. The staff was super friendly and kept us entertained. There was a DJ playing everyday. If music isn't your thing, there are plenty of quiet areas as well. The food was excellent. Having upgraded to the sens package on arrival, we had access to every restaurant and bar. The Grand package gives you access to basically everything except the VIP bar in the lobby. Many of the younger spring breakers appeared to be staying at the oasis level. Though it was fun to party all day with them by the pool, having the sens package allowed me to attend some finer restaurants at night that were unavailable to those staying at the oasis level. Everything was immaculate. There were people constantly cleaning. I would 100% stay here again."

"We went to Cancun for the 3rd time in 2 years. We stayed in 2 Hotel during this trip for winter break. The 1st hotel out of Puerto Murelos was great but we can't say the same about Grand Oasis. He had problems with our reservations and I lost a laptop bag with presents and the staff was just too suspicious. Our room was dirty, sandy and thing didn't work: phone, lights, fridge and worse of all the AC. The place was too packed for not enough staff so everything was a wait and bad service. Worse vacation stay ever for our family of 4."

"My wife and I Left after two nights of a stay that was to be extended to a 9 day stay.
In short the hotel does not have enough staff to service. Line up, line up, and line up some more for meals, drinks, or or service of any kind! With the hotel being short of staff one can expect the food, Drink, and service to be of poor quality.
If one has not issues with lines ups and average food the grand Oasis would be an acceptable resort if on a sale rate
I live in hotels over 200-250 days a year so I would like to think I can make a fair assessment.
Enjoy your travels
