bumgarner from davis, ok had this to say:
"The Grand Oasis is a very nice resort, The rooms are very nice we got a lagoon view. It was excellent as we could see the boats leaving from the lagoon and it was very nice. The beach had a ton of rocks, but that was one of the only negative aspects. Everyone was nice to us we really enjoyed our stay. We are going back in a couple of months. The staff lady who was the nicest was Guadalupe who worked at the front desk. The rooms were very nice and cool. We stayed 7 nights in April."

"We visited March 2009 (Spring Break). The place was nice and the people were friendly there was one service rep name Guatelupe she was very nice and friendly. I wish I had seen her before she left to thank her for all the exceptional service she had given. The rooms were okay although no hot water. Clean hotel very respectful didn't have no problems but the water.Food was okay. I just hated I had to leave. Overall its a good resort."

Merry from Pleasant Valley, NY had this to say:
"We just got back from the Grand Oasis Cancun. I can not complain about anything. Our room was oceanfront in building three (my opinion was the best building). The food was good mostly buffet style. There are a couple of places that are not buffet style. Sarape was just wonderful and the food was great. The pools and walk up bars are wonderful. The grounds are well taken care off. I was very impressed the moment I stepped into the lobby. Just keep in mind you are in Mexico. I met a couple of people that were not as impressed as me. You may not be waited on hand and foot, but as a whole the resort was perfect for us. We were traveling there as a group of 13. The only thing was that because of a storm part of our group (three rooms) of family arrived a day late.We had to get on them to move them in our building so we could be all togther. As we laid by the pool we all could only say 'what good be better than this?' It was just perfect."

Stefanie from Philadelphia, PA had this to say:
"This was our first trip to Cancun for my boyfriend and I. We stayed Dec 14th to Dec 18th. Although concierge out front said our room wasn't ready, we went up to the desk to make sure, and the young lady told us a room was available. The lobby is beautiful, but very humid. Not every restaurant was open and you must be careful because some restaurants (Sarape and others) you have to make reservations for. The best restaurant was Steakhouse Tunkul, but there will be a line. The best spot for breakfast was Ibiza. Dos Lunas had good food for dinner, but the portions were a little small. The drinks were strong. Make sure if you want your room cleaned to put the sign they give you on the front of the door stating you want it to be cleaned. If not, they might not get to it until later at night. We visited Oasis Viva Beach and Grand Oasis's beach and pool(s) are WAY better. Be careful of the rocks. The room was very nice although we were not in it very much. Just go ahead and pay the $3.50 USD per day for a safety deposit box. We always do at any hotel we are staying at. Also, we went to the free show on Wed night. Impersonators, dancers, circus, singers. It was better than I expected it to be. Language barrier not too much of a problem. Beware of the ladies at the right end of the front desk. They will try to sell you time shares. Great Vacation at a great price."

dl from memphis, tn had this to say:
"This was our first trip to Cancun. The Grand Oasis is a beautiful hotel, but the room we were in which was a Garden View, was pretty small and smelled like wet towels. The maid's did not clean our room until very late in the day and knowing we had three people in the room only left two towels. The drinks that are available our of call brand class and the wine is not very good. Only one selection for the wine. We did get a chance to visit another hotel and once we compared to the Oasis we were very disapointed for the same price. The staff was some what friendly but didnt really go out of the way to do anything special. The breakfast food was the best compared to the lunch and dinners. The hamburgers out by the pool were horrible. They were made of soy or something other than ground beef. Also no bottle beer was available only in paper cups. I would not stay at this hotel again."

Ronda Connor from Smithland, Kentucky had this to say:
"This was a excellent vacation spot, Check-in only took a few minutes. The staff was very friendly always polite and helpful when needed. All drinks were great but you have to try the SUPERMAN it was wonderful. All restaurants were beautiful decorated , I loved the breakfast with all the fruit and juices, I did not get to try the spa but it looked really nice and relaxing. The beach was great for sunbathing but not much for swimming it had large rock right off shore that was very dangerous when the surf came in. The pool was very clean and beautiful with waterfalls threw out. Rooms were large and very nicely decorated with a private balcony and great views. I cannot wait to visit again."

Julie from Newmarket, Ontario had this to say:
"Our visit was in August 2008. The check in was a long process in an un-airconditioned lobby! When we got to our room (which evidently was one of the better rooms available) we were right on the beach with a paio door that didn't lock, only one out of four lights in the bathroom worked,no wash cloths, a missing mini fridge(even though the bell hop actually open the doors to display the mini fridge which didn't exist and he said nothing) and a safe that didn't have a lock. My husband tried to complain and they hung up on him 4 times! When we dicided we couldn't stay there, it took us 2 hours to try to check out! IF you are over 25 you do not want to stay here(All young partiers!!)! These were just a few of the highlights of our stay of 6 hours in Grand Oasis!! Never Again!"

A Recent Traveler from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada had this to say:
"We stayed here Feb. '08 and were won over by this place after some difficulty checking in. Make sure you stay in the 'Grand Pyramid' building. Met other guests who were unhappy at the oceanside buildings due to lesser accomodations, restaurants available and general 'party central' young adult clientele. Families and more mature adults will appreciate the Grand's calmer atmosphere. It's design makes it a spectacular experience. The grounds are well kept, great for exploring the various eateries scattered throughout the complex. The pool is huge and well designed as it meanders between the hotels and restaurants. Find what you like, the variety available is exceptional. If you prefer the beach, it is well maintained. "

"Check in was kind of a nightmare. A large group ad come in needing 20 rooms but had only booked 2. We waited about 1-2 hours before everything was straightened out but they upgraded us to a beach front room. They had a great selection of resteraunts that all had great food. room servive wasn't so good. The rooms were great, everything was clean and there weren't any bugs or anything. Nice pools (and pool bars) and clean beach. Overall great experience, eat at DOS LUNAS!"

Ashley from Mt Vernon, NY had this to say:
"The Hotel was great, the people who worked there were very nice and always wanted to accomodate us in anyway possible! Though the cleaning service and room service were definatley not up to par, as soon as we complained to the front desk they immediatley upgraded us for free and apologized for any inconvenience. I loved the experience, definatley a great place for a getaway, romantic or family! Took the bus and taxi everywhere, not only cheap but a very safe place to be! Don't listen to all the reviews, go experience it for yourself!"

Frank from San Francisco, CA had this to say:
"I visited Grand Oasis in Jul08. The hotel check-in desk was way understaffed so we had to wait an hour to check in. Their lobby is not air conditioned so the wait was unbearable. Our room wasn't ready until 4:30pm.
We paid for an ocean front room which we got, however it was located towards the end of the first floor right next to outside storage with some kind of machine inside making noises. I tried to get another room, however they didn't have anymore ocean front so I'm stuck with it. Certain sections of resort smelled like raw sewage.
Drinks were not good. Restaurants are so-so (taste of food was bland except for their steak house).
80% of staff acted as if we were a burden instead of customers.
Supposed to be all inclusive, however they limit you on how many water bottles you can have to two per day.
Beach had rocks along the shore (while neighboring hotels didn't--same shore). Pool area is good size."
