This beachfront resort in the Cancun hotel zone offers 300 well appointed rooms each with a balcony or terrace overlooking the ocean, lagoon or garden. "Five couples came down to the grand solaris for a 4 day weekend. We were having a very good time for a couple days, until we decided to go the Marco Polo for dinner. Upon arrival at 6:00 pm (first seating), we were informed that two of the men would not be admitted for dinner. While we were dressed in beautful shirts and pants, they had leather flip flops on.
We asked for the manager to see if he could offer some relief, and he eventually arrived. Upon his arrival the manager on duty, was lacking any flexibility or compassion, and simply said, 'change your shoes, or eat at the buffet. Those are the rules.'
After further discussion, we asked for his boss. He was not there. He took my room number and told me that the resort manager would contact me tomorrow. That never happened.
The resort is on the smaller side, and dennis really didn't care about customer service.
We would not recomend this resort. Stay 6 miles north near more activities."

"I just returned from GR Solaris where I went with my sister for 6 days in Cancun. I loved the hotel- they had the best night entertainment I have ever seen at an all inclusive. The staff couldn't have been better or more entertaining and friendly. This is my 4th stay at an all-inclusive. This pool area is a little smaller than some (not that it was too small) but I actually enjoyed it more that way- we met several people and couples that we saw several times and had a great time with. Because it is a little more cozy- they have a lot of pool activities and interactions and even if you don't want to participate it was great fun just watching. They were there everyday at the pool dancing and entertaining, and then every evening and late at night they did stuff at the bar, a show, karaoke, and then the bus trips to Coco Bongo and other night clubs. I dont know when these guys sleep but they were always full of energy and smiles and just a ton of fun! I went to Grand Oasis last year in cancun but it was soo big you had to walk far for everything and the entertainment was not nearly as good. In Dominican the night shows were outside and we were sweating to death, plus the shows were basically the same every night and sort of lame. I missed the first few nights of entertainment on this trip becasuwas I thought they would be lame as well but I went the last two nights and I was so impressed with the shows at GR Solaris- probably 15 costume changes and multiple set changes and great themes and dancers- even a fire dancer. It was inside in the AC so it was comfortable. The food was pretty good for at least 4 -5 days but after a while you crave something different. Room service was very punctual- not like other resorts I have been to that get it to you eventually or not. We did not go with kids but the people who did said the staff kept the kids entertained for hours everyday. The rooms were clean and the minifridge kept stalked with H2O, soda and beer. The ONLY complaint I have is that the swim up bar closed at 5pm- I think 6pm would be better. But they filled up my super mug at 5pm and that lasted me a few hours back in the room getting ready. There was no time of the day or night that we could not find food. Every night the hotel takes a bus to a different night spot with a couple of the staff so you get in confortably and they take good care of you! Then you take taxi home when you want to leave. Great vacation, great staff, great hotel!!"

- take the Ferry to Isla Las Mujeres! go early and spend the day...awesome island. take the bus to 'km 6' and buy tickets there, $17/ round trip.
- Do the 'Xplor' tour. great time, well worth the money....$122/ ticket all day excursions- zip lining, rafting, atv's, lunch and transportation.
- no hidden 'all inclusive fees' when checking out! very easy and straight forward.
CONS
- Dinner in the Cafe Solaris is bad. Better off making a reservation at Marco Polo's or do the nightly dinner show, MUCH better.
- no free WI-FI (not a big deal since you are on vacation, so get off the computer!)
When you go into town, watch out for the 'Flea Market', selling a bunch of crap made in China (which is like any other touristy spots). Carlos y Charlies bar is better than Senor Frogs. Also check out Mextreme restaurant downtown...food and drinks are awesome and staff is great!"

"Want to start off by saying that I almost never post a review of a trip or purchase. Just can't be bothered. But I am here because my wife and I just had a super experience at the Solaris. Granted, you have to get past the time share people, and we learned that after a couple of times. But after that the people were so friendly and the food and drinks were excellent. I hardly ever saw a member of the staff when they didn't have a smile on their face. I booked the trip through Bookit.com and all the arrangements went as smooth as silk. I saw some of the comments about free WiFi and that didn't affect me because I look to get away from the internet when on vacation. Over all, just a fantastic time. I'm pretty much a person that can't wait to get home after a week on vacation, but I would go back tomorrow and that is very unusual for me. "

"Great relaxing week away (Feb 9 - 16, 2013). Staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. Food selection was varied and of good to very good quality. Drinks were consistantly well-prepared. Modest tips were graciously and gratefully received at all venues. Evening entertainment was an unexpected plus.
The clientelle represented all ages and mixed comfortably - families with small children, retired folks, and young people were made to feel welcome and treated with equal good cheer.
If the beach and ocean are the focus of your vacation, you will like the location. (Pay attention to the lifeguards - they know what they are talking about.)
The only possible negative would be rather poor sound insulation between rooms. This did not detract from our experience (good neighbors) and I believe the concierge would help to sort things out should a problem arise.
Overall, a very good week.

"We went for a long weekend to the GR Solaris in Cancun. It is located fairly close to the ariport which was nice.
The beach was great and the sand and waterl beautiful. If you are traveling with young children, the waves and tide might be a bit much for them as the ocean was very active the days we were there.
It is a smaller resort with a few simple eating options ( deli, snack bar and buffet style). They had a nice variety of foods for feeding the masses. It did have one real restaruant where you had to make reservations and each night had a different theme. However, the size made it very easy to get back and forth to the room and eating areas. They had a nice pool area with a pool bar. It also had a more privter adn quiet pool area for adults only with a hot tub. We enjoyed having both available to us, althought the beach was our first choice.
The staff there was nice and friendly. We would certainly consider staying there again. The rooms wer nice an clean and with balconies..... nice to sit and relax on to have a cup of coffee in the am or at the end of the evening."

"The resort was 'fine'. The staff was not very friendly and the hotel concierge was straight up rude. The hallways smelled like smoke but the rooms were fine. You need a towel card and the pool entertainment can be obnoxious if you aren't into that.
The food was pretty hit or miss- we were there for a Japanese night and I couldn't really find anything that was 'great'.
There were a ton of kids at the resort. So not exactly great for our ladies weekend.
This resort is close to the airport and after walking the beach with realized that the further away from the airport you go, the better the resorts are.
All in all the resort was fine- but I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends or family. There are better resorts available in similar price range."

"First, I want to say that the service at GR is Amazing. We loved the beach, it was awesome. Our reservation was supposed to include free Wi-fi. When we got to the hotel, we were told there is no free Wi-fi. The food was good and the entertainment was great. Theamazing. The ocean view room we got at GR Michael Jackson Experience was Amazing!! The staff's attitude was pleasant and friendly. It made the stay at GR great. The drinks were watered down, but the food was good.

"We have been going to Cancun for 24 years. The last 6 years the same week, we have stayed at Blue Bay and Grand Sunset Princess, which are both in Riviera Maya area. First I want to say that the Beach at GR is Amazing and we loved it. But all our research through said there was free Wi-fi, there is not, $70 for the week, we are business owners and had to have wi-fi. No mojitos, none. The food was alright, but again nothing near the quality of the other resorts we've been to. I also want to say, we were a group of 13 and feared the 'timesharing' reports, but none of us were bothered at all. The entertainment staff was great, but the others were ok, at Blue Bay, they were all amazing. The ocean view room we got at GR was also Amazing!! Our overall experience was good and we made the best of it, but most everyone said they would not return and would rather Blue Bay."

"The hotel was nice. The food was OK. There is not much to do besides drink booze and eat. The hotel didn't have any free activities like snorkel or kayak. So if you are going to stay for more than 3 nights I would suggest bringing some money and major credit card to go on tours and stuff. The hotel offers a show in the evenings which I thought was really cool. And yes it's true if you don't tip the bartender you'll get a snobby look and poor service. EVERYONE is looking for tips and I mean everyone so bring some one's with ya. All around it was a very nice trip and I probably would stay at this hotel again."

"Booked into GR Solaris and had no hot water and then water was brown, do to them cleaning their water tank. They did change our hotel to GR Caribe, 'about five hotels south' and the hotel was great. They treated us very nice and would recommend booking there first. This time of year you get to see sea turtles catching by the hundreds, in a fenced in area. Then they release them at night to protect the babies from the birds, truley a sight to behold. "

"This was my very first time to Cancun and it was a decent experience. I did learn if you aren't a club member you get the non -oceanview rooms. To become a member you have to sit through a 90 minute sales presentation and it's even longer if you resist the sale. I only recommend you do this presentation if you are serious about time share or joining a travel club otherwise it's going to put a damper on your trip.The rooms were ok, the food was mediocre at best and the crows are awful. They need to put something in place to keep them birds away from the outside patio or they will come right up and eat off your plate.Gross!!!! The night life and games the staff put on are pretty fun and the hotel is pretty decent overall."

"Really nice all-inclusive hotel!
Upon check-in the hotel staff provided us with a detailed run-down of the hotel amenities, dinner/buffet schedules, reservation requirements, activities, and general information about excursions that we could set-up with on-site travel agents. Our room was well cooled, clean, and very comfortable. The pool areas and beach were well maintained and the entertainment staff provided daily pool activities like work-out routines and volleyball.
The restaurants and buffet areas were clean, easy to access, and provided a good variety of foods (deli, mexican buffet, breakfast buffet, etc). The drinks at the outdoor daiquiri bar were yummy but a little light on the alcohol. Asking for Bacardi and coke specifically will you get you a stiffer drink and of course tipping helps :)
A couple of tips:
1. There is NO ATM at the hotel.
2. Go to the 9pm show/dinner, it was lots of fun.
3. Room service was spotty (we asked to have our fridge restocked and the safe opened so we could us it and both never happened, however, extra towels were provided promptly)
4. Make arrangements for shuttle return to the airport at least a day in advance.
5. There are multiple Solaris properties, make sure you understand which one you are at so you can tell the cab or bus drivers to drop you off at the right place.
6. Nightly club activity was great, they provide transportation to the club, table service, all you can drink, dance until the sun comes up... for $50 USD.

"Stay away from the desks just inside the doors where they make you promises to get free things if you listen to their presentations. They say the presentation is about how they want you to book your next stay direct with the hotel instead of with any outside agency. They tell you it is NOT a timeshare presentation. It is a lie! Definitely a time share presentation. Don't waste your time. You will NOT get the things they promise you and will waste 90 minutes of your time.
Awesome service and staff at GR Solaris. Beautiful hotel! You have to take the good with the bad here. There is no soundproofing in the walls. You can hear everything from the adjoining rooms. Banging, furniture moving across floors nightly while staff is cleaning rooms around you, talking and laughing from other rooms. Bed hard as a rock...but beautiful beach, great service, friendly staff. Best Day travel very helpful and efficient.
Overall, if you don't mind missing a little sleep, a good experience in a beautiful setting."

"We just returned from our 6 day stay at the GR SOLARIS in cancun, and I thought it was AMAZING, FUN, and WONDERFUL. As far as the resort I thought it was beautiful everything was easy to find and clean. All of the staff at the resort was so kind and friendly and eager to help, especially the front desk team and the entertainment staff. I however found the food to be somewhat not to tasteful (could have been better), mainly I think it is due to be being from cajun country and liking our foods well seasoned, but the resturant MARCO POLO was very good although be sure to make a reservation early in the morning it fills up quickly. The Entertainment staff provided awesome shows, and always had a fun activity going on throughout the entire day. We were close to the downtown life, lots of great shopping and night life adventures, only about 10 minutes by bus or taxi ride, which was always easy to get a ride the bellhop staff were amazing at driving you down to the bottom of the hill for the bus or very quick to have a taxi waiting for you ( no waiting) We really did feel welcome and like we were a part of a family at this resort and would definitely return again in the future"

"Everything was great with the resort. Marco Polo was an excellent place to eat. Our waiters their were great. Our waiter at breakfast most of the week was the best. He was very friendly and always was there to fill our drinks take plates or whatever was needed. Also the guys at the best day desk were great, They were very helpful and made us laugh. The main complaint was people out in the hallways were so loud at all hours of the day and night. Also some of the workers were not to friendly at first but seem to get better as the week went on. We had a great time and I know everyone says to stay away from the timeshare people but we did the 90 minute tour and we got some free things but then all week these people helped us with questions and were very nice."

"My husband, 13 year old daughter, and I took our first trip to Cancun in June (14-18) this year. At the airport we found the Best Day shuttle was ready for our arrival and took us promptly to the GR Solaris. Our check in was quick and we were offered an upgrade to an ocean view room. We didn't take it and were very happy with our room which turned out to have both an ocean and lagoon view from the balcony. The 'concierge,' acquainted us with the facility and we were soon off to the pool! The concierge at this hotel is really a sales rep for the time-share business. We didn't catch on to this right away and, even after explaining that we weren't interested in the time share presentation (described a special celebration to show the facility), we were hounded about it every day we were there. This is the one thing I would change about the trip. I wish they had understood that our no meant no! Otherwise the facility is clean, safe, and beautiful. Our favorite server was awesome as were all of the servers. If you tip them well you'll get extra great service (although even if we didn't have money for a tip the service was outstanding!). The food was never-ending and reasonably varied and good. There were buffets, sit downs, snack bars, and a deli to choose from. The strawberry daquiris were amazing. The pool, beach, and ocean were never overly crowded and everyone was very friendly. We attended a magic show with dinner one evening and it was good family fun! The maids are very efficient and keep the rooms immaculate. Wireless was only available in the lobby and service wasn't reliable but it didn't really matter since this was a vacation away from technology! Outside the hotel we found a bus stop and had no problem traveling to the shopping areas of Cancun. We were also able to walk to Ruinas del Rey from the hotel. I was sad to leave but looking forward to a return visit in the future!"

"I came back from this resort on Saturday 7-28-12. My family and I were there for 8 days. We traveled with our 2 year old. The staff is friendly, but it could be friendlier at the front desk. Especially the men. The women were more friendlier. Thats just me. The beach is just right. Their was no service to the beach, but a little walk to the bar doesn't hurt anyone. They have only 10 umbrellas on the beach. If you put down a green towel on any of the beach chairs for more than an hour, expect it to get moved. The towel doesn't give you control for the entire day. 30 minutes is the most. Also they have plenty of beach chairs on the beach, The lifeguard on duty will have extra umbrellas that he can put down for you. Just ask him, a little tip won't hurt.
The food was great for an all inclusive. I've been to 4 different all-inclusives and this by far was my favorite. The have different dishes everyday. One day its Mexican, the next day it's Italian and so on. So you do get a variety. The ice cream is really good!! The service I received there is unbelievable compared to the other resorts I stayed in. The day before I left, I needed some warm milk for my daughter so she could fall asleep, one hotel staff member was nice enough to go and get me some warm milk as he was going home. I told him I would find someone else, but he insisted and sure enough, he came back with some milk for my daughter. In the last resort, they would have told me to go to the store. I also encountered great service from another selected staff member as well. They both worked extremely hard to make sure my family was well taken care of while we were there. I gave them the best tip I could and told them because of them, I will be coming back to this hotel.
They do try to sell you time shares, but its really a membership to their hotel chain in Cancun and Cabo. There is no need to be rude like some people were when I was there, A polite no will suffice and they will no longer try to sell you anything. plus you get a discount for a $25 30 minute massage by the beach or a discount on an excursion. We went to Xcaret for $298!! That was super cheap!! On-line I would have paid nearly $450 for 4 people! was recommended a dolphin swim for my daughter who absolutely loved it! Gracias!!
While I was there, I had hurt my heel, I was unable to walk without pain for 3 days. Each of those days the staff cared enough to ask me how I was doing and if I wanted someone to look at it. Too bad the Doctor on call charges $100 USD just for looking at it. the doorman, who is also a great employee they have there, advised me to put my foot in the jacuzzi or warm water. He always gave me information that was useful, especially when it came to riding the bus or taking a taxi. Gracias!
Overall, the resort is what its advertised to be. A 5 star resort. This resort is a bit small and more family oriented. If you go by yourself or with some friends, you will still have a great time. The adult pool is always open and never packed. You're just away from the action. Thats why they call the relaxation area. The entertainment team is dedicated to making sure you have a good time. The late shows are great! You can also swim in the pool until 10pm at this resort. That was awesome. while your having some evening drinks, the kids are swimming! The buffet food was way better. That was my only complaint. I definitely would recommend this resort to all my friends and family. We are already planning on going back, but once they open their Riveria Maya location. Thanks again!! "

The only complaint was the room that ajoined to ours consisted of very noisey neighbors which was taken care of the following day without any questions asked by the staff. When you book a room make sure the room has no ajoining room attached for a peaceful and quiet stay. "My husband and I just returned from an extremely disappointing 6-day vacation at GR Solaris (6/27-7/2). Positives: beautiful location/great beach; fresh towels and sheets daily; several delicious dinners @ Marco Polo; our waiter in Marco Polo; the girl in the spa (two awesome service professionals). Negatives: unfriendly, unprofessional or dishonest staff (we were told the bar was closed then watched the same waiter serve two other groups within 10 minutes; our internet 'resort credit' was promptly charged to our final bill; I had to argue with the front desk clerk to have it removed), poorly maintained rooms (moldy curtains and walls, short circuit in the electrical outlet, floors not cleaned); awful food - many of our meals consisted of french fries and pepsi; watery drinks - everything was basically a slushy.
We've been on cruises and all-inclusive vacations and this was by far the worst vacation we've had. We travel to enjoy the location as well as the resort amenities. If you've never traveled, don't care about resort amenities or this is ur first all-inclusive, this resort may be enjoyable for you. We, however, will not return and do not recommend staying at the GR Solaris"

"I took my daughter and her friend for her high school graduation trip/present. Checking in was a great experience, as was checking out. The staff went out of their way to help with any little situation, and was greatly appreciated. The beds seemed very hard when we first sat on them, but they slept great! The walls were a little thin, seeing as we heard the couple next day argue on a continuous basis. The food was okay, nothing to brag about. "First off, I really liked the hotel, staff, and room. I felt that the accommodations were better than I expected. The pool and beach were very accessible and well maintained. The entertainment was much better than expected. All in all the hotel was really awesome My one grip was that the food and options were really pretty average. The only meal that was memorable (both buffet or the a la carte at marco polo) was their Mexican themed buffet. Everything that I had that night was delicious and well cooked. The rest of it left me wishing I had spent on a hotel with better food selections. My take is this if you are paying for an all inclusive, you better recognize that the food may be the biggest part of your experience. Find a resort that has excellent options and reviews, and I bet it will also have accommodations to match Oh and if you are getting a deluxe room with the jacuzzi on the patio, request a room in the high teens. All of those rooms are on the first floor, if you are close to the elevator you are over the bar which is loud at night and open late. That was sucky The internet in the lobby was hard to get on for skype, but for email it was just fine."

"I went to Cancun and stayed for 5 days I just have to say it was the best experience of my life. From the moment we arrived the staff did anything they could for us. The bartenders are friendly and will make anything for you at any of the bars. The food was excellent breakfast was amazing, for lunch they have a snack bar by the pool or a sit down buffet. For dinner there is a buffet downstairs and marco polo I didn't try marco polo as the buffet was great. I recommend bringing some money to tip the people as you get treated a little better if you do. The pools are great and always warm. Many complain about the beds I personally thought the beds were comfortable and the pillows were the same I slept great while i was there. I would by far recommend this resort to anyone staying down there I can't see how anyone could have a problem with this place."

The resort is very clean, even in the pool area. The bigger pool is pretty busy and sometimes a little noisy for us older folks. But then we just moved over to the adult pool which was less noise and very nice. The evening entertainment was very enjoyable, a different show each night we were there. The room was a good size and had a firm mattress which we really liked. Our least favorite was the food. Most meals were good but some were disappointing. But then there is plenty to choose from. Great place to stay if you are going to Cancun."

"My family & I really enjoyed our trip to Cancun. Overall the food was good although not all the restaurants were open for supper. There was only one night when we had a hard time finding food we liked, but you could always order from room service. My biggest complaint is that the swim up & pool bars closed at 5:00 pm every night. This is when things just get going and they close down so you are left with only the lobby bar. The pools were great, as was the beach but get your towels out early or you won't get chairs. I would recommend this resort but probably wouldn't return because of the early bar closings."

"We were celebrating our 10 Year Anniversary and read the reviews here online. I guess you take everything with a grain of salt, but we have to say, we had a great time here. From the moment we walked in we felt relaxed and as if we were on vacation. The food was, for the most part, very good. The staff was awesome! Shout out to Corona, Monica and Alex. They were always found somewhere working hard. We were lucky enough to get a non-adjoining room which was key to our stay. We didn't have anyone near us making too much noise or keeping us up. The beds are hard and pillows not so comfy but that didn't bother us too much. We had an ocean view which was nice. Just beware of the people in lobby at the desk, someone almost got us, but the front desk says, he wants to talk to you about the stuff that goes on around the hotel, which he does, but then wants to offer you free stuff. Why? Because he wants you to buy a time share. Don't be fooled. Just say you're not interested and move on. Other than that, we had a fantastic time. We have kids, didn't bring them, but they had stuff going on the kids would enjoy. I would recommend this place."

"We stayed for 2 weeks Feb/Mar 2012. Right from the moment we walked in, we had Excellent Service. We were automatically upgraded for our room, which was fantastic; always clean and we had daily treats of towel animals from the room service staff. The Entertainment Staff were Exceptional, and stopped by to talk with us often. We went on several hotel arranged evening entertainment trips that were planned very well. Our servers on the beach, around the pool, or in the hotel were always friendly and gave us fast service. We got to know most of them by name. The location was perfect with a beautiful beach, 3 pools, and Large jacuzzi hot tub. All the food was great starting with breakfast and ending with the fine dining. The free wi-fi in the lobby was good when you could get on, so try for early mornings, or pay for it in your room. We were only a short bus ride to numerous malls for shopping, and Tour buses picked us up at the lobby for Excursions we booked after we got there, through the Sol Ha travel agent in the hotel. Overall, this was a 5 Star Resort and we would love to go back soon. Thank you to all the staff there for making our stay a perfect holiday!"

"Cancun was a FUN adventure..going into customs and immigrations was a ZOO but after that we had a realy good time! The hotel was wonderful; great guest room, oceanfront King room with jaccuzzi on porch. Service was friendly and helpful. Drinks were plentiful. Beach and pool was well kept and chairs/umbrellas available if you 'claimed' your spot early in the morning. Entertainment was delightful. Food was average but plentiful. Beach was very nice however had Red Flags posted most of the time (as did most of the beachfront for miles). Had no issues drinking the water or ice. "My wife and I had a great time, the food was excellent at all times, even the deli that's open through out the night had some great food. Entertainment was great during the day at the pool or at night time at the shows and bar. Please make sure when at time of booking to ask for a non smoking room if you're not a smoker otherwise is very hard to get the room you thought you were going to get. we were hoping for a king bed, we ended up up with twin beds but other than everything was fine. "The staff was really nice! Everyone aimed to please. Food was alright, you won't go hungry. We had mexican food three days in a row though, I wished there was a little more toss up. I've stayed in a couple nicer resorts in cancun, however for the price this one was VERY nice! The rooms were clean, views were great (even the cheap room) and the beach was perfect. "We just returned from GR Solaris and would definately return. The rooms were great and minifridge was well stocked. I read previous reviews about the food not being very good but that was not our experience. The food and drinks were great. The poolside waitestaff were very friendly and very prompt in refilling drinks and taking away empty plates and glasses. Our Server was very friendly and accomodating to everyone in our group. He kept our glasses full and was alot of fun to talk to. He was an excellent bartender and great asset to this resort. The Michael Jackson show was very well done. We were very impressed with the level of talent in this show.
If I have one complaint it would be for the receptionist when we first checked in. We paid extra to upgrade to a room with a balcony and jacuzzi and when we got up to our room neither of these things were present. Upon returning to the front desk and complaining the receptionist was not very friendly or willing to correct her mistake. Once we took care of the room mix up everything was great!"

"This was our third time staying at the GR Solaris . The staff is great, very friendly and they keep the resort very clean. The entertainment staff at the pool is great. We had alot of fun every day. The food is good with many options to choose from. Every night there is evening entertainment and entertainment at the bar. I would recommend this resort for anyone to stay and have a great time. We have brought several friends with us each time and have also recommended to others to come stay at the GR Solaris for a great time. This is a great family resort !"

"Let me first say I have traveled a lot down in mexico/carribean/tropical places. However, I have mixed feelings about this resort. It started with a room that I DID NOT consider ocean front view along with a broken jacuzzi on the patio which I had paid extra for and was really looking forward to enjoying. The hotel DID however accommodate us with a move the next day to a different room, but the hotel left a bad taste in my mouth from the beginning. The hotel was small so things to do are limited once the day is winding down. It was very clean and I did enjoy seeing many of the workers doing an excellent job on making the property spotless. The bartenders always seemed to be annoyed... though the rest of the restaurant crew and entertainment staff were friendly and overly nice. It also did not make things better that the annoyed bartenders (no matter what drink you got) made drinks that all tasted the exact same, not sure if it was the alcohol they used or what, but the drinks were disappointing at best. The room (second one we got) was nice but small and the bed was hard as a rock. The food was good but NEVER seemed to change. So after day 2 it got old very very quickly!! The shows at night were excellent but afterwards it seemed like the hotel shut down and unless you went out on the town drinking... there was nothing to do. All in all, the trip went well but the hotel was just okay. I personally will NOT be back to this resort. I believe that for the same price or just a hair more, you could upgrade to a MUCH nice and bigger hotel with more things to do and nicer overall surroundings."

"Had a wonderful stay at the GR Solaris, Cancun. The hotel is located on a beautiful white sand beach. There was plenty to do at the resort so we never felt we had to leave. The Staff, from the check-in counter, to the waiters, to the maid service and last but not least the entertainment staff - were all amazing. Best of the Best. I will return."

"Outstanding resort. for our wedding anniversary trip. We spent 4 nights at the resort and don't have a bad thing to say about it. The room was great (Ocean view), all the hotel amenities you'd want. Several premium liquors are available at the lobby and pool bars but you have to ask for it. Don't do a timeshare tour eventhough they make it seem like you have to. We did and got some useless spa coupons.If you do the timeshare tour be sure to get a day trip or $100 USD, they have many timeshare hustlers that will give you something more useful.
Tip a buck or two it goes a long way. Nighttime entertainment is okay, I've seen better. Food was good not gourmet but not disappointing. Overall we highly recommend."

"My husband and 5year old son stayed 5 days at the Grand Solaris. Best trip ever! Perfect location on the beach with beautiful pools. The grounds were great. Excellent staff. The Breakfast and lunch buffet were very good. The dinner buffet in the ballroom was OK. I recommend making reservations in the am at bkfast for Marco Polo. A sit down dinner with excellent food. As long as you are not in a rush I would recommend eating there. The shows were very entertaining and are worth seeing. Other than a snorkeling excursion we never left the property. Kids club was great. My son enjoyed the daily art crafts and the other activities offered. We will be back. Only negative is the walls are thin as other people had mentioned.The last night we had a sick crying baby next door. Other than that no problems whatsoever. Good mix of people of all ages. Great resort for the price."
