"We did not get a chance to stay at this Hotel. They where over booked. They have a sister hotel and it's the Great Parnassus. It's a larger hotel with a lot of family with kids. I think what they do is their club menbers have priorty and that the chance you take if you book with this hotel. They upgraded our room, but the staff at the other hotel speak speak very little english. i would not reccommend to a friend."

"We had an awesome time on our recent trip to Cancun Mexico. My wife & i stayed at the Golden Parnusses.
When we first arrived we were disappointed to find out that the resort had overbooked and did not have a room available for us. We stayed at the Great Parnusses for one night. The next day we were back at the Golden Parnusses. Because of they overbooking we were upgraded to a suite room at both resorts for our entire stay.
The accommodations were great the upgrade was well worth the first arriving overbooking issue. The food and staff were awesome, always friendly and available to help you.
My wife & I had a great vacation, and would recommend this resort to friends or others interested in staying in Cancun.

"On our 10th trip at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun. This is not a 'newer' resort in Cancun, but the staff at this resort is awesome. The food variety is very good and best of all no reservations are needed. Also being for adults only, we really liked this, no kids yelling 'Marco-Polo' which was great not to hear. The food was above average, we have stayed at 'higher' end resorts which did not have the wonderful staff that this resort . The size of this resort is perfect, not too big and not too small, which gives you more eating options.
I would rate this hotel higher than its rating on trip advisor, some people I guess just are never happy. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this resort to any couple."

"My husband and I just spent 6 day/5 nights at the Golden Parnassus. Overall, we were both very pleased with this resort. We have 2 small children, so we were very happy with the adults only atmosphere. The staff members were extremely friendly and went well out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. the bartender at the poolside bar was AMAZING. There were several poolside staff members that tried to get the guests involved in activities such as volleyball or darts, but didn't hassle you if you just wanted to relax.
The food was mediocre, but I was expecting this as I knew we had booked a mid-priced resort. The buffet has a good selection and there were several stations where you get made-to-order food, which my husband thought was much better than the items on the buffet. The restaurants were good, nothing too fancy. I was pleased with the food and staff.
The resort has been updated, but I could still tell it was an older resort, this was fine by me. The room balconies were nice and private, unlike the balconies on all the surrounding resorts. Our room was a good size and had a great ocean view. Overall I was happy with our choice of resort. The bottom line is this is a fairly priced resort with fair accommodations. If want a top-notch resort, then spend the extra money on one. If you want a nice vacation at a nice price, then I would highly recommend the Golden Parnassus.

"First I don't understand how this Resort is rating a 10. The buffet was Okay, the restaurant food was not disgusting but horrible. I would have paid extra money for good food, it didn't have to be great just good. It was not even fair tasting food, it was horrible. Entertainment was awful, promoting drinking till you hit the ground is not my idea of a pleasant trip. Observed a lot of sexual harassment issues. I wrote to the Resort hopefully they will resolve that issue and take my e mail serious and not trash it.
The Resort staff were awesome, don't get it twisted here, Resort staff and Entertainment staff are two different monsters, Entertainment and Bars are one monster and Facility is another. The resort itself was so beautiful, had minor issues with the room but the RESORT STAFF resolved it in no time at all.
Do enjoy and if ya see any entertainment staff acting foolish with the gestures and observe unwanted behavior towards others don't just watch, tell someone.
A lot of ladies from Ireland,United Kingdom and so on are in a different country for the first time and don't know what to do. Protect ourselves and don't just vent to another employee, write them an e mail with the persons name attached. Nothing will ever get accomplished if it's not in writing.

"I went there with my friends. It was a great all inclusive hotel experience, however some things were lacking. The overall hotel was clean and neat, however the bed linens were sour and smelly. The front desk safe that we had was very helpful and friendly. There is one lady that was very rude and snappy at our group.
I notice some restaurant staff are only attentive when there is women with the group. I went to the buffet lunch and breakfast by myself or just with my male partner and they ignored us, however when we eat with our female friends, we are treated like VIPs. For the price, it was okay experience. I don't plan to return there if I decide to go to Cancun again though."

"My trip to cancun was wonderful. The hotel was not superb but it was a great experience as an all inclusive adult only hotel. Overall hotel was clean and beautiful. The linens on the bed however smelled sour. My friends complained about bed bugs.
At some of the restaurants, the waiters appears to be more attentive to women than the men. I went to the lunch buffet with myself once and they ignored me. If I ate with my female friends, they treat us like VIPs. Spending 6 days there, you get tired of the food. So it is recommended that one try foods outside of the hotel. The option going to their sister hotel, Great Parnassus was great, then you can see the difference between hotels.
Not all the front desk staff are nice. There is one lady who was very rude and inpatient with us."

"This was a great resort for the price! I'm not sure what people are complaining about concerning the drinks -- all the top brands were there and bartenders were very generous in pouring them.
I speak Spanish, but everyone on staff spoke English, so no one should complain.
The food was plentiful and could have been more flavorful as this is Mexico and I love spicy foods. However, there were a variety of salsas available to add to any dish that I thought needed it. Serving an international clientele, the hotel has to prepare foods in the mid-range and let people add their own.
Wireless internet is available for a fee: $15 for 24-hour period. We did it twice in our seven days. It was nice to be tech-free for a couple days and just relax at the pool.
Other guests were a nice mix. I was a bit concerned it would be all 20-somethings as my husband and I are over 55. But there was a nice range of ages from 20s to 60s with no group dominating. Nice.
Staff was very efficient and professional.
The surf was a bit rough when we were there, and I got caught in an undertow/rip tide and couldn't get out. The same current kept my husband from being able to get to me to help. Lifeguards were very alert and on their way to get us before we could call for help. They were cute, too! :-)
We would be happy to return to Golden for another vacation."

"My review has a premise: Vacation is what you make of it!
This was our second visit to the Golden and I say 'our' because there are 4 or 5 couples that travel together every year to get away, have some fun with no children. We have added at least 1 new couple to thayt group this year.
First I want to say to all the negative netty's, life is too short to complain as much as you guys do. So here is my shot at a fair review.
This is an inexpensive place to stay with no children in sight and a great staff getting you whatever you need or ask for within reason.
The food is great here. The paradise restaurant has a buffet but what I haven't heard anyone say is that you can have any Asian, Italian, Mexican or American dish cooked to order if you ask for it. At both Breakfast or Lunch. As far as the Ala Carte Restaurants, yes the Old Barn is the best and the rest aren't bad but again you get what you ask for.
As far as the drinks go, come on. The drinks are also made with top shelf liquor if you ask for it. I drank for 5 days straight from 9 am til 9 pm and tried 20 different types of drink and they all weren't great but if I got one I didn't like I asked for something else and got it.
The rooms and the building itself have some age on them but nothing horrible. If you have an Ocean view which we had last year you can't miss the ocean and it is a beautiful scene. We had Lagoon view this year and it was an equally spectacular view as the sun went down.
The staff was excellent again this year. Some of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet.
I am already looking forward to next years trip, 358 days and counting.

"My boyfriend and I had a great time! The resort was small and quaint. After a while, you got to know people from passing them by in the lobby, hallway, pool, beach, restaurant, etc.
The only complaints we had were: 1)the only place with air conditioning was in our room. 2)Out of the 5 restaurants, only 2 served good food; Sumo and Shangri La and 3)not enough upbeat music played throughout the resort or by the pool.
Other than that, the resort was clean, staff was friendly, the jaccuzzi room was nice, entertainment staff was fun during the evening events and pool activities, the buses were near the resort, so it was easy to go to the malls.
Also, while we were in the airport, a man approached us. We thought he was going to get us a taxi, but instead, he was a resort promoter and convinced us to attend a 90minute session at his resort, and in exchange, he gave us tickets for 2 excursion tours. A staff member at our resort was very rude about it and tried convincing us the guy was a rip off & that the reort was a time sharing seminar & we were not going to get what was promised UNLESS we bought timesharing. She was VERY nasty about proving her point & pushing us to buy tours from her. Thank Goodness, we went our on 90min session anyway and it was all Legit! :-) We got to go to Xplor and Chichen Itza for the price of 1."

"We stayed at the Golden Parnassus from June 20th - 24th. There was a storm system moving through the area so there was a lot of rain. This did eliminate a lot of the poolside activities. However, the entertainment staff did try to keep everyone entertained by moving activities to the Sixties Bar. The food was adequate. The best food we had was at the breakfast buffet, by using the made to order stations (omelets, empanadas) and the coconut shrimp at Pier 12. The French fries and snack food at the snack bar were good for late night snacks after drinking. Most bartenders were very good at making drinks and seemed to always have a pleasant attitude. There was generally not a lot of alcohol in the drinks unless you asked for an extra shot.
Service overall was outstanding. There was always someone wanting to help you and make sure you were basically waited on at all times. Even the check in process was the easiest we have ever had because of this. The beds and pillows were comfy even though the beds were a little short. When the sun came out, the resort was an awesome place to be. We are looking forward to coming back again.

"Excellent vacation. The staff was very friendly. The resort is beautiful with lots of things to do while at the resort or the offerings available to do things away from the resort. My only complaint was the lack of pool towels and the fact that the facility kept running out. Some of the towels had a musty odor to them and should be re-washed or replaced."

"This is a great resort. The staff are absolutely amazing. The entertainment crew is the best I've witnessed at a resort due to the fact that they are always available to speak with and help with anything that you need. The concierge is very friendly and helpful. I love that the resort is small because it makes the environment more fun as you see the same people frequently. The guests that were there during the week we stayed were super friendly and outgoing but that's simply luck. The whole feel of the place is definitely party oriented but if you're looking to have romance and privacy you can choose not to embibe. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a small, clean, unstuffy, not too fancy, and extremely fun resort."

When we arrived at the hotel we sat in the lobby for 20 mins before they came and told us the hotel was over booked. They said, we could stay at the great Parnassians . They where owner of a larger hotel. This hotel was for family with kids . They had a all adult pool and spa and there was no one there. My husband and I was very disappointed. We schedule a. Couple massage late evening. We ask for the last appointment . The lady said 9mp. My husband ask and verified to make sure. When we went for our appointment the spa was close. The next day first thing in the morning we went back to see what happen . They had us down for 9am in the morning. If you do not speak Spanish. This is not the hotel for you. Very unhappy...."

"We arrived with 16 people and had 8 rooms reserved last August.. We were told there were no rooms available. They moved us for 2 nights to a hotel with a million kids. It was terrible. Dirty rooms,bad service, and bad food. We used half of Monday moving back to hotel. Very disappointed in the resort. Shows were awful, and the food and service was bad. Staff at the pool was great and helped make the vacation. Would never stay at this place again. It was by far our worst all inclusive we ever stayed at."

"My husband and I went to the Golden Parnassus Resort for a short, 3 night honeymoon. We very much enjoyed our time there! The staff were all very friendly and willing to serve. We both enjoyed the food, with Pier 12 being my favorite and the Sumo being my husbands favorite. The entertainment staff was fun and upbeat and we had a great time playing sand and pool volleyball. Overall, we had a fantastic time. This resort is however, on the small side so for a longer trip it might get a little boring. But for our short time, it was perfect!"

"We had planned this trip for over a year and we were very excited to go as we had never been to Mexico before. Everything was fine until one of the front desk staff came up to us after seating us in the beer garden with a nice drink. She tells us that the hotel is overbooked and they do not have a room for us and that we are being upgraded to a VIP suite at the Great Parnassus their sister resort. This news did not go over well with us as we are two single girls who specifically wanted a 'no kids' vacation - The Great Parnassus is a family resort where kids pretty much run rampant. There was no one above the front desk staff for us to speak with and they went as far as to say - 'try back on Monday, we should have a room for you then' I just looked at her like 'is that some sort of sick joke? We leave on Monday'. The front desk staff then gave us this big song and dance about how the Great Parnassus is bigger, newer and we would have a suite with a jacuzzi blah blah blah - I told her it didn't matter if she put us up in the penthouse suite as we didn't come here to hang out in the room but to experience Mexico and our experience was now off to a horrific start. So they swept up our bags and threw us on the shuttle to the Great Parnassus - yep it's bigger alright and we figure what happens is that because they can't fill the Great Parnassus they lure adults to the Golden and then upon arrival give them the shaft like they did us and move them to the Great so they have more occupancy - what a load of bs!!!!! We witnessed the same thing happen to other adults some who had 6-8 in their group. It's a shame too because the resorts otherwise are both very nice, have fun activities, good food and service from the bartenders but we felt from the beginning after we were given the shaft that we couldn't trust anyone who worked there at the front desk at either resort. And it was a total pain going to the Golden for the day as we had to get a pass from the front desk and then find transportation or hoof it on foot either via the beach or the street which took about an hour. The shuttle between the hotels was a joke - we ended up taking the bus everyday for $1, otherwise we would be waiting an hour for them to decide to take people via the shuttle. Our experience would have overall been excellent if we had the luxury of being able to stay in one place instead of worrying about getting back to the Great when the night was over and not having to lug a bag of stuff with us for the day while at the Golden. I felt like a nomad, not exactly the way I pictured my first vacation in Mexico. I would definitely return to Cancun but not to either of these resorts."

"We had such an amazing time at this property. Clean resort, food is great, service is incredible, and we are getting ready to book 2 more stays there next year! The check in was smooth and we were greeted with a drink within 5 minutes of walking in the door. The drinks were fantastic, the ocean view room was incredible! The only thing the place is lacking is a swim up bar, but we shuttled over to the sister property, The Great Parnasus and used theirs. After polling the guests that were staying at the hotel, everyone was a repeat visitor.
We can't wait to get back!!!!!!"

"My husband and I just returned from the trip and really enjoyed our stay at the Golden Parnassus. All of the restaraunts were great as well as the service. The activities were all fun and we were never left with a dull moment! It is fairly close to the downtown location which was a bonus....just don't get into the hatch of a taxi even if they tell you it is okay (but that is another story). Our room was always cool and clean daily. I would definately recommend this hotel."
