"Our stay was May 15-May 2013. This was probably our 7th time vacationing at an All-inclusive resort in Cancun, We have stayed at 6 other resorts during that time and were excited for our 'Dreams' vacation. I can tell you it was a let down. Our biggest concerns: First day we requested a king bed, but they provided only a queen size, so too small. we requested higher floor but the have only in the third floor, finally we find at 14 floor. The room was to cool every day we cannot change. Two times the TV were down two times. Tiny beach area with insufficient seating for the number of Dreams guests, run-down, a limited food selection, and the Mexican restaurant which was excellent, the only restaurant was Word but the food some food every day. The internet was terrible and only worked one of 5 days we were there which was frustrating. We did appreciate the very hard working and polite staff at the restaurants and bars, as well as a wonderful maid service. The only good was a food services at room. I do not recommend this resort."

"We were looking for a place to stay for a few days in May as I had some time off before starting a new position. We decided to take a trip to Cancun and try out this all inclusive resort.
We had never tried this type of vacation before and were pleased with the experience. The facility had a number of options to choose from for meals. The staff were very friendly and the pool and beach areas were clean and inviting.
I'm not sure how the stay would be during peak season, but for us there was plenty of room to find a spot on the beach and relax. But remember to bring lots of $1 bills to tip for service."

"We had a great experience at Dreams! The staff was exceptional and always very friendly. The buffet was our least favorite place to eat, but the Oceania Cafe was fantastic--the fresh fish and ceviche were phenomenal. We enjoyed the grab and go fresh fruit on a stick at the snack shack and the bar with the swings was so fun. We never had to wait at any restaurant and loved the fact that you did not have to make reservations for the non-buffet restaurants. The beach and water access are by far the best---it was nice to have the option of the calm inlet ocean area or to go for a walk down the beach where the waves were much more dangerous. We never utilized the pool since we enjoyed being in the ocean so much. Rooms were good, and the view was amazing. Have stayed at larger resorts and enjoyed the smaller quaint atmosphere of this one. Would consider returning again with our children, they would love the dolphins! Enjoyed our visit to Dreams!"

"We had an overall good experience here. PROS: beautiful beaches and surrounded by ocean. The views on the 'non dolphin' side are better - right on the water. A good selection of restaurants: seafood, japanese, grill, and an ongoing world cafe buffet with many choices, and the Mexican restaurant which was excellent (only one that requires reservations). We found the food good to above average and the service very good in the restaurants, at the pool and on the beaches. The beaches were beautiful and typically seating was available. The Dolphin experience was very good and it was fun to have interaction with the dolphins all during our stay. CONS: The internet was terrible and only worked one of 6 days we were there which was frustrating from a work perspective, the house wine was very bad and you will want to use your resort discount coupons to upgrade to a better bottle. The resort coupons were extremely limited - could only use a small amt for very specific items. The one Pool was very very small and a group wedding basically took it over with too much drinking, swearing and cigar smoking in the pool - YUCK. Had to get my kids out of there. Another pool exists if you upgrade to the preferred club, but we preferred the view closer to the water. Finally - BE PREPARED - they will hit you up right upon check in with a tacky timeshare thing. Just say NO - in talking to other guests it was a timewaster and they take you off to another hotel. Overall - the location, view, the staff and the dolphins - well worth the money."

"We really liked the 'horizontal' layout of this resort. On one side of the point was a shallow inlet with clear water, perfect for snorkeling or cooling off during sunbathing; on the other side, big waves for boarding.
Upgrading to the VIP was really worth it for the extra service, continental breakfast if you're rushing out for an excursion and evening appetizers and cocktail bar after a long day.
The Asian restaurant was terrific, the offsite Mexican terrible, and all the others pretty good not great, but all with great ambience and service. Bar service mostly good. Evening activities were good for families, young people will want to go offsite for nightlife which is a good ways away by cab.
Staff could not have been more helpful, but were not well organized or supported-- the place needs a real GM--I think he keeps bankers' hours on a good day.
Internet access was a challenge and 'hotel credits' were promos or discounts. All in all a great place to stay and we would go back."

"Our stay was Mar 31-Apr 4, 2013. This was probably our 15th time vacationing at an All-inclusive resort in Cancun and we are not 'pick it apart' kind of people. We have stayed at 4 other resorts during that time (Riu Palace Las Americas, Now Jade in Puerto Morelos, Melia, and Omni) and were excited for our 'Dreams' vacation. I can tell you it was a let down. Dreams had been promoted as a 4-5 star resort and the most we would give it is a 2-3 star rating. Our biggest concerns: an ice-cold pool, a seriously tiny beach area with insufficient seating for the number of Dreams guests, run-down, antiquated rooms, and a limited food selection. We did appreciate the very hard working and polite staff at the restaurants and bars, as well as a wonderful maid service. I do not recommend this resort, but highly recommend the Riu Palace Las Americas, where we will be staying next time!"

"Food choices were terrible. The snack bar was a joke, could not get waited on. I had a employee tell me she was not a waiter. There was way to much confussion at snack bar. All the restaurants the staff was not friendly could not get your drink refilled most of the time you had to do it yourself or do without. My daughter never got a drink in the main restaurant. Had no hot water the last two days. Not enough activites going.The resort credits are useless you can only use them on part of a activity(spa, dophins,etc.)."

"Dreams Cancun was definetly not what i thought it would be! Only 2 real restaurants and the one you had to completely walk around the entire resort to get to it. Internet did not work in the Rooms or anywhere other then the Lobby area. To those who need to work or stay in touch via online, were pretty much restricted to one area... The dolphin aquarium was really the only thing good the resort offered. One Pool- which was small, and even the beach access was limited. I would prefer the Princess Resort at Playa Del Carmen any day over this. The entertainment staff was the only really good part about this resort."

"Found the resort to be a very good experience for us. The rooms in the main hotel were comfortable and had a great morning patio view. The restaurants provided some very good selections and the staff were very courteous. We never had to wait for seating at any of the restaurants. The beach was a little overcrowded with lounge chairs but still very enjoyable. The resort's entertainment staff did a very good job of providing a variety of things to do and attend. The location of the resort is very convenient for visiting (walking distance) some ot the downtown shopping areas. Never any issue about personal safety. I think the value of this resort is comparable to most in the area. We will definitely consider returning on our next visit to Cancun."

"Dreams is a great resort. However, I didn't like the pool area, it is small and crowded and not attractive, which leaves sitting at the beach as the main option, which is also quite tight quarters. The buffet food was average, but the fine dining restaurants were excellent, and so nice to not worry about making reservations. I would recommend this resort but don't think I would go back to it, purely because of the pool area."

"We took our four year old to Dreams for his first beach vacation. We were married at Dreams Tulum in 2006 and had a wonderful experience there. It is much different vacatioining with a child, but he loved it. Overall we loved the location and the resort. We never had a problem getting into a restaurant and love that reservations were not required. The restaurants are also very accomodating to children, having choices for them other than what is on the menu. There are a lot of choices for beaches, we stayed near the Himitsu beach. The water was nice but the beach was crowded at times. They need more than one waiter for that beach...he was not able to accomadate the needs of everyone ordering drinks and food in that area. The hotel was very clean and overall the food was good. There were plenty of things for our child to do other than the kids club...although we wish he could have participated in some of their activities with one of us present (no parents allowed). He would not stay in the kids club without someone he knows. We enjoyed the ocean so much that we never used the pool...it seemed to be cold as no one really used it to swim. We did a couple's massage one day and the spa was nice. We also walked the five minutes to the flea market and felt safe. There is a big, indoor market closer to the hotel that has much better prices than the outdoor flea market, atleast for the things we purchased. I wish we would have went there first. We had a dolphin front room on the first floor and had no complaints with our room. They were very accomodating and set up a single bed in our king room for our child...he loved having his own little area. It appeared that our room had been updated. The one con is that there are not bathtubs in the bathroom....I think you need a suite for that. Overall a great trip, next time we will go when it is warmer and swim with the dolphins!"

"Loved Dreams! Food was outstanding- especially Oceana Restaurant. Service was great- especially Barracuda Bar. Loved being close to shops and other restaurants outside the resort. Wish the Barracuda bar was open later and wish the Swim up bar was positioned in the sun. Room was great and bed was comfy. We had plenty of hot water too. We had a great time and would definitely return. Beats Bahia Principe in Punta Cana anyday."

"We went to Dreams during Christmas time and paid for preferred club with $400 resort credit
Preferred club is a joke, nothing special. Same service as other areas, just a special concierge, with VIP sign.
$400 resort credit is totally useless. You can use it in small pieces $10-$40 for overpriced services like spa, wine, romantic dinner, which are cheaper without this discount, if you use a special. In addition, they trying to sell timeshare as part of promotion of this credit.

"I had boooked our vacation 6 months to our arrival. When we arrived I was told they did not have a king sized bed available- we were stuck with 2 doubles- not very romantic.
We were in the preferred tower and during our 7 night stay we only had access to 1 elevator for all the guests, housekeeping staff, bell hops and room service. It was ridiculous! The would work on one elevator and when that was fixed they would shut the other down. They would cram carts and people in the elevator and when the door opened I thought I was at the circus when the never ending stream of clowns come out of a car.
The shower by the beach for rinsing off was broken. Our room's A/C unit never shut off and the fan's motor was on the last leg. The bath tub had a crack in it and I'd hate to think of the mess on the floor below us. Again- this was the preferred tower. I would have 'preferred' to stay elsewhere."

"absolutely horrible we did pay for the preferred club memebership for no reason. Actually had to sit and wait to be checked in. Food and service was horrible and to top it off the staff made us miss our transfer back to the airport for our return flight. Definately would not recommend this hotel to anyone! "We paid for the preferred club which I don't think was worth it. We could have had a Dolphin view room for less - and they were identical in size and I did not see any real benefits for the club compared to other hotels. Tower pool was not really much of a pool and wind was high in the pool and gazebo area. Requested a lower floor with reservation and was put on 10th floor in the tower. The minibar in the room was not at all what I expected, only had a few beers and soda. The adults only preferred tower did have some families in it even though they claim it's adults only. The adults only bar was short of a bar, really just a counter you could get drinks to sit in the hotel lobby. The food was good, the service was good, the beach was beautiful and the drinks were good as well. Only reason I rate of value is because I purchased it at half price the day after Christmas about a year ago. I would not pay full price (~$500 night) for this resort, but if you can get a good price it is a nice place to stay. It was a convenient location if you wanted to go downtown, shop, etc. since you could walk however why would you eat out if your'e in an all inclusive. The beach is not the same as the bigger beaches in Cancun along the strip. Because they are on the point, there is smaller beaches with less than typical beach waves. Kayaks were fun, entertainment staff was awesome. They really made the visit worthwhile. We were not able in the tower to get a good view of sunrise or sunset as we had in previous hotels on the strip (again because of their location). If you've never been there it will leave you thinking Cancun is not as beautiful as it really can be based on my previous experience."

"Every restuarant was great, room service was even better (you gotta get the bacon hotdog), the catering at the reception blew them both away.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only part that was disappointing was the mini-bar. There were 3 Corintatas, a Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, OJ, and bottled water... it was restocked daily or whenever you asked.

"We would not recommend this resort. Staff was OK at best,. We called several times for specific items to be sent to our room. They told us at check in that our roll away would be sent up shortly. We checked in at 2 and needless to say we still didn't have the bed until I called down well after 10 to get the bed. The attractions were very good, but the times they tell you to be down for your ride are really different than what you would expect. We were not impressed with the service at all."

"We were here for a friends wedding and what a nightmare!! It was one problem after another during the 5 nights we were there. we had requested a king bed and when we arrived they did not have any available and we had to sleep in a 2 double bed room (not my idea of romantic) until they had one available the next night so then we had to move all of our belongings to the new room. Once we arrived in the new room I noticed the bathroom light was burnt out and had to call maintenance to fix it which he did come and I thought fixed it. When I started to get ready later that day I noticed it was not working again so we called maintenance for the 2nd time in one day. He came and fixed it this time. Later that evening, my boyfriend was in the shower getting ready so we could go to dinner and all power went out in the room and it was completely black and dark in the room. I had to search for my cell phone for light to call the front desk. Not a pleasant evening trying to get dressed in the dark. Come to find out it was from the messed up repair job the maintenance guy did earlier. The air conditioning went out on our last day there and it was extremely hot in the room and very miserable to try and sleep plus all of our clothes in the suitcases were damp from the humidity. The room credits for the spa and wine are not what it appears to be. You can only use small amounts at a time on only certain services in the spa and the wine credits are a joke .In conclusion... IF you choose to stay here make sure that the air is working!"

"The hotel has a very small pool area.The hotels beach area is the smallest ive ever seen.The food is average and you have to dress in evening attire to eat in the restaurants at night. The resort credit isnt what youre led to believe.It is broken down into 40-40-20 and you cant use all the money on one specific item.The golf package is a lie.Youre promised free golf but you still have to pay 40 to 60 dollars depending on the time you play.The dolphin show is nice and the staff is very friendly but dont waste your time or money."

"Firstly, the food, staff (with the exception of front desk), cleanliness and generosity with alcohol was all wonderful! I had booked 5 rooms for a family vacation and visited Dream Cancun between June 9-16 2012.
On the day we arrived we were told that AC wasn't working and hadn't been for about 5-6 days. It was 'repaired' on the 15th 5 days into our stay. In addition to the AC some of our group were told that a number of room amenities weren't working such as the in room safes, the televisions, one room was without any hot water for 3 days (rm 3121) My room 5110 didn't have any water for an entire day as a result of a burst pipe down the hall. Painting and fumigating in the hotel bothered a number of guests. The front desk was more than happy to accommodate a move request to another room for an additional charge of between $40-$60 US. Having shared all of this with you my single complaint with the hotel boils down to this...When a consumer purchases a service and the service provider fails to hold up their end of the agreement the service provider is then obligated to correct the shortcoming by offering refunds or services in lieu for services not provided. I understand the things break down and wear out but I paid for AC, working water, hot water and a supposed 5 star hotel. I don't feel that is what I received. I will not be returning to the Dreams Cancun. "

"On my first day at Dreams I was robbed by the cleaning lady. I put in a complaint and nothing was done. I had to keep bringing it up and still nothing was completed. Instead the management believed their staff after they came in my room within 5 hours of checking in and fixed my bed up (my bed was still made and we didn't even sleep in it). "We had stayed in Playa del Carmen for 5 nights prior to coming here for the following 5 nights. I have to say that as soon as we stepped into the lobby we all gave a sigh of relief. This was far superior to the other '4star' resort we stayed in. The service here was so amazing, it set the tone for the rest of the vacation. We had our first drink in the lobby bar and the bar tender was so friendly and took great care in making the mojitos perfect! The grounds are absolutly beautifu with views at every angle. We had dinner at the Sea side grill and not only was it delicious, but the view was spectacular. We played volleyball everyday and the entertainment staff was great. The ocean was very calm and shallow which made it great to relax in. We come to this area of Mexico twice a year, and we will probably never stay at another resort, we loved the food, service and ambiance!"

"We were given a room in the older part of the establishment which seemed to contain alot of young people who were in Cancun to party etc. --all of the group who checked in after us were given newer rooms in the tower section. Our room was cool and damp, and we could not adjust the temp. Also, my husband who has trouble using stairs had to climb a flight of stairs to get to the room, because the elevator was not working. I ask to be put in the towers later that evening, but was curtly told that there was nothing available and I would have to pay extra for an upgrade. I would not stay here again!! The price of our room was a ripoff. "

"When we arrived at the Resort we were told after waiting for 45 minutes that they were overbooked. We made our reservation for the Tower over two months in advance. They sent us next door to a sister hotel which is in very sad shape. They asked if we would spend two nights there out of the four nights we were staying. NO WAY! We were informed that we could still do all the activities at the Resort. So when we walked over the security staff would not let us on. Yet again back to the front office for verification we were guests. Once we were finally moved over to our room (later the next day) the experience was nice. Great entertainment staff, food and location. I will not be returning though, after talking to our travel arrangements to and from the airport the overbooking episode happens a lot. This was our first vacation in a very long time and the first part was ruined."

"This is an older hotel, so keeping that in mind. I thought for the money, it was a great hotel and great value. The food was good every where we went and the wait staff was prompt to bring new drinks and make sure everything was excellante! The entertainment staff is engaging and they were very friendly. Our room was upgraded for free in the VIP tower and was lovely and very big. The view was amazing. My only complaint is that the pool was pretty boring in comparison to other resorts I have stayed at. The beach is kind of narrow, but the water and sand was lovely. I especially liked that you didn't have to make reservations for the resturants in the evening. If you are not staying in the towers, I would note that the dolphins are very noisy in the morning so if you want to sleep in make sure you are not facing the dolphin lagoon."

"I have a weak stomach and often complain about the food. At Dreams Cancun, I did not experience any problem and give them credit for that.
I want to emphasize the friendliness of the staff.
I have been several times in Cancun in more luxurious hotels. This time I went together with my wife, daughter, son in law and grand kids, we were all very satisfied despite the weather conditions which were not so great.

"Great resort - they thought of everything. Nothing much to nit pick except fewer vegetarian options at restaurants and buffet. But other than that, we loved everything - they really make an effort to please you. The staff are courteous, the entertainment crew is cheesy but sweet, the fire show and mexican night show were spectacular. The location is fantastic. The water was a bit smelly but tolerable. The explorer's club is fab as they entertain the kids. The beach and pools are great. What more - go you will not be disappointed. It s good value for money."

"This was a year in the planning for daughters wedding. The hotel staff was friendly and entertainment staff were just wonderful, couldn't stop laughing...did not have to want for anything. The wedding staff took care of everything and treated my daughter and new son in law like kings. Their honeymoon suite was beautiful with special surprises everyday. Will difinately return to this resort, may make it a new year's getaway. All inclusive is the way to go, and the sea was to die for.. Also loved the pirate ship dinner cruise. Family friendly resort...didn't want to leave."

"My new husband and I went to Dreams June 19th-26th for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it!!! The staff so friendly and very hard working, the room was amazing with beautiful views, the food was great. No complaints at all. Even when it rained for 2 straight days there was always something to do. The entertainment team did a great job of finding things to do. This was the first time my husband and I had ever been out of the country, but everything went so smooth. We will definitely be going back and recommending our family as well."

"This place was very beautiful and clean. Most of the staff was very friendly. The food was not very good. Hot things werent hot, cold things werent cold. I was with a large group for a wedding. Several of us got very sick. A couple of ladies had to have the doctor come to the room and give them shots to settle their stomachs. We all tried very hard not to drink the water."

"Overall it was a wonderful experience. Cancun is beautiful and the Hotel was wonderful. It has a great beach, I think the best in the area. My only disappointment was the food, the lack of courtesy transportation from the airport and other places, and the condition of the room. #1. The food needed a little bit better presentation, I had 4 more options when I was planning my vacation and went with this resort because it seemed like it was the best. When you have high expectations like I did, I expected the best from the food. ( which is a big part of why I picked an all inclusive hote). definetly they need to put a little better effort on the food. #2. No transportation to or from the airport. This is huge!! I've stayed in many resort, they all offered courtesy transport to shopping, restaurants and specially the airport. This was a BIG dissapointment. #3. The rooms were not what I expected, there was mold on the bathroom walls an overall there was a moldy smell in the rooms. So overall I enjoyed..I have to give it a 10 on service. The staff there is awesome, specially at the bars. Not sure if I would pick this resort to be my next accomodations in Cancun."

"We had my oldest daughter's wedding at Dreams under the gazebo! What a fabulous setting! 49 people attended the wedding and all of them commented how great the facilities are arranged for large and small groups. The reception dinner on the beach was phenomenal and created a very festive atmosphere!! I can't say enough about the wait staff and the quality of the food, both at the reception and in the individual restaurants. We have just booked another week for January with our whole family and are excited to return to this wonderful hotel. If you only could see the wedding photos, you would be convinced in a New York minute!!"

"We had an awesome trip to Dreams Cancun and cant wait to come back. The ocean views from Dreams are spectacular as it is the only resort in Cancun that is surrounded by water on all three sides! You get the best of both worlds when at Dreams, the back side has a huge beach with alot of waves in the water and the front side has a smaller beach but is virtually waveless so you can enjoy yourself on the water trampoline or on a raft an relax in the water. The staff was friendly and out going and work very hard for you so I know it is an all inclusive but we tipped them everytime they brought us a drink & or cleaned our table after a meal a dollar goes a long way. The food was decent and they had a large selection of food for you to choose from so if you didnt like something trust me you wouldnt starve. There was plenty to choose from. The Entertainment team was great and worked very hard to get everyone involved. I cant say enough about Dreams I love the place and will be returning in a few months and will not stay anywhere else other than Dreams. It is walking distance to all the night clubs such as Coco Bongo, Dady O, Mandala, Carlos and Charlies, Senor Frogs, The City, Bulldog including the Plaza Caracol mall and the flea market. If you dont want to walk anywhere you can take a cab or just take the bus for $1 each way. It is safe to walk around Cancun during the day or night. Nobody bothers you other than to ask you if you want to go into the clubs when your outside of there. Cancun is awesome. I Loved every minute of it!!"

Wonderful people who try very hard to make your stay great. No issues at all with the staff.
Food, very good with a lot of selections. Wish there was more Mexican food to offer though.
Lots of fun things to do in the resort. Never really had to leave for anything.
Location puts you in the middle of everything.
Place is a little old so do not expect the Ritz, but overall nice.
Remember to leave the AC on to avoid moisture (humidity) in the room.
Swimming with the dolphins was grand. You got to do it. Sign up early because it fills up fast.
And yes, I would go back again.

"Dreams is truly an amazing resort...they really have something for everyone and the hotel grounds are just the perfect size - not too big, not too small. Whether you want to party poolside or relax on the beach, you can at this resort. Guests ranged from families with children, older couples, honeymooners and party people.
Staff around the hotel was also very nice and did their jobs well. Many of them went the extra mile for us.
The nightly entertainment is pretty good compared to a lot of other places. Good variety (fire show, hip hop breakdancing, pirate show, etc.)
Definitely spend the extra money and upgrade to a dolphin view room (either on the 1st or 2nd floor). There is something truly magical about waking up to the dolphins every morning!"

"A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. My husband and I just got back from a week long stay at the Dreams Resort in Cancun, and were just blown away. The staff members were all so friendly, funny, and helpful. The resort itself is beautiful. The food....delicious! And my husband is a chef, so he normally hates going out to eat because he criticizes everything. He loved every restaurant we went to! We especially loved the entertainment team who works so hard to make sure the guests are happy. We played so much beach and water volleyball! We decided that we need to make this a yearly trip, and we will return to Dreams every time we go back to Cancun."

"I liked my stay at Dreams Cancun very much. Its employees are very kind and attentive, not only people at the concierge desk but also the staffs that cleans the rooms and those of the restaurants. The food and the property of the place are great. I also met there great employees that speak my native language (Portuguese) : Ameth and Nadia. The dolphins seem to be very well treated by Delphinus and they seem to like the interactions with people. We see that the dolphins are treated with fish and love. Good job, Delphinus! My suggestion to Dreams Cancun is to build a bigger deep swimming pool although all its swimming pools are great! I highly recommend this hotel!"
