"We wanted to celebrate our Anniversary a bit early as we were on sunshine withdrawl in upstate NY. We heard a mixture of reviews and didn't really know what to expect. We were extremely happy with Secrets The Vine! The staff were all wonderful. The resort was beautiful. The beach was just what we had hoped with plenty of beach to walk. The food was excellent. We loved the breakfast and lunch buffet and received the royal treatment at the Italian and Asian Restaurants. They went out of their way to make it special for us. We came home with great memories! It was just the break we needed."

"Our stay was fantastic. It was our first time at a Secrets resort and we would be happy to book at this resort again or at another Secrets brand based on our experience at the Vine. We traveled Monday to Monday and found that the resort was relatively quiet until Thursday then picked up quite a bit for the weekend. Overall though, we were always able to get a lounge chair without reserving early and that was for anytime of the day!
The only thing we didn't like (and this is minor) was that at some of our meals we were offered the 'special' which always sounded delicious, but the catch was that you had to purchase a bottle of wine or champagne of a certain value in order to be able to get the special for free. At an all-inclusive resort we didn't think that we should feel pressured to buy extras like this. On the other hand, we recognize that some people might actually like this. Like I said we didn't like having this added pressure but in the end you can always say no, so all-in-all not a big deal! When the wine list was presented (all the wine on the list was extra cost) we just started saying we weren't interested before they went into the their 'special' details."

"Overall, I had a great time at this resort. This was my second time in Cancun. The first time I stayed at The NOW Jade (a sister resort to The Vine), in Puerto Morelos, Cancun. I would say they are both great resorts but it depends on the atmosphere you are looking for. I preferred The Vine over The NOW Jade due to location, drinks, adults-only and liveliness. If you are looking for a very low key/private experience The NOW Jade is the place to go. The Vine was great because it was right in the Hotel Zone and we were able to hop on a bus for $1.00 whenever we wanted to venture out of the hotel. The NOW Jade was outside of the Cancun Hotel Zone and the only way to get to the Hotel Zone was to take a cab, which 2 years ago we were told would have been $50 each way (we never ended up doing so). The good news was that The NOW Jade had fantastic food in all of their restaurants, so at the time we did not feel like we missed much by not heading to the Hotel Zone. The Vine, not so much. I was disappointed in their food, but the rest of the hotel made up for that disappointment. The pools were great! I did not wait long for drinks and was constantly being checked on to see if I was ready for another drink. They had Absolut and 1800, which we were impressed with for being an all-inclusive. There were enough bars in the hotel that every time we went to one there was a place to sit and the drinks were served quickly (The NOW Jade- a bit slow in this area). After reading up on many reviews, we did not upgrade to the preferred status. I did end up regretting that choice only due to our room and view. Non-preferred guests are placed on the lower floors. We were placed on the 14th floor, which is really the 4th floor of the resort the way they number their floors. I would have much rather paid for the upgrade in order to receive a room on a higher floor. We were able to see the ocean from our room, but the Hard Rock hotel was blocking a much better view. Had we been on a higher floor our view would have been amazing! If you ask me the Hard-Rock side of the hotel is the place to be, it overlooks The Vine's pool area and 2 of their outside bars, so I was able to peek out and see what was going on. The other side of the resort is overlooking the pool area to the resort next door. I much rather preferred overlooking what was happening at my resort. As for our room, the bathroom was not very private. When you walk in the room the toilet area and shower are right there followed by the bed area. The toilet area and shower are not enclosed in a separate room, they are each enclosed by glass with a frosted pattern covering only the middle area. For a shower I am okay with this, but as for the toilet area- you need a little more privacy than that. Had we upgraded we might have had a larger room with more space between the bed and the bathroom area for a little more privacy. Back to the restaurants- they try to offer up different American Cuisine- but fall short. It seems as if they should have hired an American Chef to help them create their menus and to train their Chefs how to prepare these American Meals. Or....we are in Mexico- do what you do best and make me Mexican cuisine! I eat American food when I am at home. This is a very accommodating and clean hotel with a lot going on. If you are not a 'foodie' like I am than you will have a blast! Bring sun tan lotion with you- it is close to $40 a bottle down there. Also, shoot for the highest SPF you can find! Once I have a base, I do not typically burn easily. I wore SPF 50 and it was not enough!"

"Secrets the Vine was a fantastic experience and exceeded my expectations by a long stretch! Never had an all exclusive experience. It was fantastic from the room, amenities, 6 restaurants, 24 hrs. room service and hotel activities! Even dialing out to the States, Mexico and Canada were free, wifi was free and the food was really delicious and plentiful! The drinks were outstanding! I'd keep going back to Secrets The Vince whenever I just want to relax. The beachfront and beauty of this 7 month hotel is unbelievable. You have all got to go!"

"I bought this as a gift for my husbands birthday and also out anniversary, check in was great very friendly and they had a banner on door that says happy birthday and brought a cake up, rooms and hotel very modern and clean ... They will try to sell you to go for a presentation if you are not interested don't go and just cut it from the beginning so you save yourself some time, they were not pushy at all though. So food average, wasn't awesome at all although I loved the Mediterranean place the chef came out an said hello. However if you don't eat pork or meat the options are limited. Wifi suckssssssssss big time so if you need of don't book here, they let you make free calls to USA but at some point I needed my wifi, I used to connect to the other hotel (sandos) from my rooms balcony and didn't get any from secrets in my room. Water pressure and temperature sucked at least in my room if you at going check before you unpack your bags these two things and see if you can get a better room. We called for both these problems and they come up say they will talk to the manager and fix it and they never come back, call or fix it . Got me really frustrated that I spoke to the front desk she says water temperature is like this and she will send the manager up to fix wifi and that it was never reported,she said meet him up I'm 5 min I wait 15! Come back to her they tell me she is I'm meeting. really bad bad customer service they are new and they have a lot to learn. Staff around the pools, really slow service it's better you go get your drinks, at some point we had a sunburn and we needed shade, all shade areas taken And we ask for an umbrella and thre was none left. Really!!! Get more umbrellas, cabanas will be reserved by ppl before 8:00 that's how desperate ppl are for shaded areas and comfy seating! Entertainment not the best everyday the same almost and some stuff they don't even try and one girl was a bit rude when we were inquiring about stuff. If you are young don't stay for night enternatiment it is meant for older people, like 50-60 we are in out 30s the music is old and no one dances until they are way too drunk. Going out was an option every night with the hotel but it gets expensive $45pp and above drinks included though but or us its too expensive for every night and too tiring to go out every night so some nights we would be entertaining out selves which is fine or bored because we tried their nightly entertainment! With some staff you just feel they would rather not be working there. Spa was great but needs to be able to do recommendations it's a long story but its a beautiful spa and therapists were great.gym is really good, enjoyed my dolphin experience but make sre you take money or credit for pictures they are expensive. drivers are crazy seriously! evereyone will try to hussle hou so be ready,overall way too much for the money for the hotel, wasn't relaxing much too much noise there is no serenity to be enjoyed and staff needs customer service lessons. Spend less money on a hotel enjoy the beach and go out clubbing better than chucking all that money for a friendly check in and modern hotel look."

"We just returned from THE VINE last night. This resort is amazing! There is nothing lacking for amenities. The cleanest we have ever stayed at . We stay in Mexico every year, this by far is the sleekest modern resort we have experienced. The staff is very attentive. The restaurants are excellent. Only negative there is the food tends to be very salty. If you mention this issue to your waiter when ordering he will address it. The breakfast and lunch buffet was also excellent. We would have liked a buffet option for dinner some nights but it is not offered. Perhaps they can address this if enough people agree. The beach was beautiful, however the ocean is VERY rough in this area. Swimming could be dangerous. One other comment...We dont feel the extra money for prefered is really worth it. Didnt really feel we got extra treatment. As for the liquor Absolut vodka is top shelf! Doesnt matter what category you have. We would definetly return to this paradise!"

"This is a new property and there were a number of issues. They are struggling with a new, relatively untrained staff. Many don't speak English, and of course for non Spanish-speaking guests, that is a problem. We upgraded to a larger room, and its a beautiful room. It appears, however, unfinished. There were places for pictures or accents, but none were in the room. No floor coverings, so fairly cold. We had problems in mid afternoons with the lack of hot water (which was a surprise for a property like this ). When we called, it took half an hour for a maintenance person to come to investigate. He spoke no English, and by the time he got there hot water was running again. All he could do was smile and look at us like we were idiots. That was frustrating, but actually kind of funny as well. As if we don't know how to turn on a faucet? The hallway floor on 17 was absolutely filthy, every day. The room attendant was not properly trained. She would remove soiled towels but not replace them with clean towels? Again, training. The pool-side attendants were nice, but the property seemed understaffed. Not what you would expect for a property of this caliber. Over-all, we were happy with our stay, its just the management is not attending to the details, and for a property like this property, its all about the details!"

"We have been to several secrets and we transferred after two days. The hotel is nice and very small and contemporary. I would not call it a resort. It is 26 floors-very tall and skinny slammed right between two other hotels. No room to roam or see any beautiful vegetation or lush tropicals. Mostly cement, tile and steps everywhere. We saw several people with sprained /broken ankles from accidents on steps. The food was average/good. Not near as good as maroma or silversands. It's a different type mexico hotel-very scheik-but not for us. Also the front desk/concierge will try to get you to do the 90 minute presentation-don't fall for that."

"We agree with all the reviews that we have read...Great service,food, wine selection, beach, cleanliness,gym ,spa ...definitely upgrade to preferred room. If you have trouble walking there are a lot of steps and they do not have many handrails so be cautious also if you are looking for lush tropical setting you might be disappointed as this Secrets was ultra-modern with minimal plants. The all adult resort is perfect if you want to be alone and also perfect if you like to socialize. We did not leave the resort for 7 days! Lastly you could not have asked for a nicer staff of kind, caring and professional people!"

"This place was GREAT!
It was SUPER clean, they cleaned/turned down our room 3 times a day. and they kept the hotel in pristine condition. Throughout the hotel you would see the staff cleaning. And I'm huge on cleanliness. The only dirt i could find was a smudge on the glass doors. and even that would be cleaned within the same day. They have this huge machine they use to clean the pool walkways. It's like a big floor buffer for out doors. I loved seeing that because I'm the girl that has to wear water shoes to a park to avoid feet nastiness on the ground.
The beach/ocean/pool was all excellent. well laid out and super relaxing. the hotel had servers on the beach and pool side to take your drink orders. They had an outdoor buffet if you got hungry. and a few of the days they made piaya and served it on the beach and pool side.
The food and restaurants were good. The buffet always had GREAT food. our favorite restaurant was Dragon. Very tasty eastern food. I don't really like sushi but this place made excellent sushi. The Dim Sum and Spring rolls were excellent as well.
The staff was always friendly and waiting on us. When you walk in you get a cool towel and a glass of champagne. In the evening,s they had board games in the main lobby area. as we sat and played, the waiters would come around and serve us drinks and appetizers.
The place was EXTREMELY relaxing and it's a great place to decompress and enjoy yourself.
the only thing lacking was entertainment at night. They have little venues but it's nothing crazy fun. My husband and I didn't care about that because we're in Cancun, if we want dancing and DJ's we can just walk a few blocks away and get all the entertainment we want :)
There was only one 'time share' snag. if you sit through a 2 hour 'information' seminar you'll get $200 towards the hotel spa. Which we didn't do.
Overall, this place was beautiful, amazing, and I'd go back in a heart beat. Usually on vacation I'm ready to go home by the end of the week. I never wanted to go home while we were here. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know."

"Just got back from this resort and it was an amazing experience. Stayed there for 7 days 6 nights and I wish I was there for and extra week. Everything was great about this place, the food was amazing, service was great, ocean view, the beach was beautiful. The only thing weak anout this place is the lack of entertainment but beside that everything was a dream come true. Don't do the sub-see explorer activity, it was a waste of money. "Secrets the Vine is without a doubt a 5 Diamond resort!! Every little detail at this resort is thought of! Every person there always greeted us with a smile and asked if there was anything they could get for us. My wife and I take at least one trip to an all-inclusive every year and this was far and away the best resort we have ever experienced! Every restaurant took you to a different mood and the food was great in each of them. Our favorite was the Bluewater Grill! The coffe bar was also great to get a latte, a mini dessert, and enjoy the live music that would be played in the lobby! We opted to go for the preferred level which gives you private check in, a butler, a higher floor room, and a preferred lounge which was great for the drinks, coffee, and food that was available all day! There is so much more that I can go into but I would be typing forever! I will say this, We are already planning our next trip to Secrets the Vine!!!"

"This was my first experience with an all-inclusive hotel and they set the bar VERY high. From the moment we drove up to the resort until we were back in the van 6 days later the staff was absolutely accommodating to everything we may need.
The staff- from the front counter, waiters, bartenders, towel guys, cleaning staff were all just so nice. Always very happy
The Rooms- we had the Deluxe room which was really big with a great view of the lagoon and ocean. Room service was also very nice it usually took about 30 mins to get your food but you could pre-order (if you wanted breakfast the next morning you can just call and tell them what and when) the bathroom and shower didn't have much privacy but still nice.
Restaurants- we found something we loved at each restaurant. But don't forget your long pants they enforce dress code at a few of the indoor restaurants. All the food was GREAT.
We did sit through a sales pitch to receive a $100 towards the spa / I'd say it was worth it. It took a while longer then they said, over two hours they said it wouldn't be more than 90 mins. The salesman was a nice guy but he was certainly a salesman.
From what we understood they were only at 40% capacity so it seemed like we had it all to ourselves which was nice but understand with double the people there our experience might have been different, such as longer waiting time on our food, room service, drinks and so on.

"The rooms were spacious & gorgeous. Had a wonderful time! Couldn't ask for a finer staff; everyone was most gracious & helpful. The hotel is beautiful. BIG & beautiful, with it's share of growing pains. The second day we were there the elevators were down for repair. Couldn't help the feeling of being sardines in a can as we sat - chair butted against chair -at the 'privilege pool'. Don't fall for it...the people on the lower level have 4 pools - all much nicer -and four bars/restaurants. Go down to the lower level to enjoy yourself.
Plus, the Ultra luxury lounge chairs were awful on the back! Once we got out of the Ultra area and joined the people on the ground level we were quite pleased and had a wonderful time. Inside, the food at the restaurants is heavenly. Even the buffet! Very good. NOTE: Gentlemen must bring long pants to be served in the restaurants. Overall, it was well worth the trip. We won't return to this hotel, but only because we prefer a smaller more intimate venue."

"My wife and I vacationed at Secrets The Vine April 21 through April 26. We were greeted warmly and with a glass of champange and a cool towel. We were checked in and taken by our room by one of the staff, which was nice. Theres not a bad view in any room, you have ocean on the front and back of the resort.
This is our third trip to Cancun and we stay at a different all adult all inclusive each time, and the entire food expeirence on this resort is 2 or 3 notches above other resorts. Very easy to get around, you can catch a bus out front for $1. and in 10 minutes you are at a great mall. My wife loved the easy access to everything on the resort, not a lot of walking. The management and staff work hard to ensure a good vacation. I didn't care for the restrooms in the rooms they were glass and some things you need some privacy for, but thats just a personal preference. Overall a great vacation with many positives."

"We just returned from THE VINE last sunday. we celebrated our 20th wedding aniversary.This resort is amazing! There is nothing lacking for amenities. The cleanest we have ever stayed at . We stayed in other resorts in the past, this by far is the sleekest modern resort we have experienced. The staff is very attentive. The restaurants are excellent. the rooms are excelent. If you needed any thing they are right there to help. The breakfast and lunch buffet was also excellent. We would have liked a buffet option for dinner some nights but it is not offered. Perhaps they can address this if enough people agree. The beach was beautiful. One thing needs improvement is the photo center.long waite time .ALL STAFF MEMBERS ARE VERY FRIENDLY THEY GO OUT OF THIER WAY TO HELP WITH A SMILE BUT MANAGEMENT ARE NOT SMILEY PEOPLE AT ALL THAT NEEDS A CHANGE. As for the liquor Absolut vodka is top shelf! Doesnt matter what category you have. We would definetly return to this paradise!'

"We stayed at Secrets The Vine from October 27th to November 3rd.
Overall, I would give this resort 5 stars. Here are a few noteworthy items that may be helpful for your stay.
Coffee Bar (A ). It's like having a Starbucks right your hotel, but all the drinks are free. The baristas are fantastic. All of them were very friendly and happy. Good selection of hot and cold drinks. Since we are more coffee drinkers than alcohol drinkers, the coffee bar was one of the main reasons we selected this resort.
Beach (A ). the location is perfect, especially if you enjoy walks/runs on the beach. You can walk almost four miles north or south from the hotel along the beach. The beach is very safe and the merchants are not overly aggressive. If a 8 mile round trip run/walk is too much for you, exit the beach through one of the public access points or another hotel to catch a local bus back to the resort. The waves are fairly strong here so bring a boogie board for some fun in the ocean. This is not a good place to snorkel. Some days had a fair amount of seaweed washing up on shore, but the hotels seem to stay on top of it.
Pools (A). The hotel pools are very nice. Three main pools and a fourth for preferred guests. The water was a little cool, but refreshing. Would like to have a swim up bar, but other than that no complaints. Lots of chairs available and plenty of options for shade vs. full sun. The waiters were attentive. I think the hotel was only 50% occupied during our stay so the attentiveness may change when peak season kicks in.
Restaurants (A). Yes, the Market Cafe is really as good as everyone mentions. The fruit was incredible. The dragon fruit and kiwi fruit were fresh and the best we ever had. Far better than the cruise ships. Really, don't miss this restaurant for breakfast or lunch. They have two different soup selections during lunch and most were very good.
Skip Sea Salt, it was fair at best. Our food was cold and the burgers were terrible. Dragons, the Asian restaurant was our favorite. Our waiter was top notch! The portions, selection, and atmosphere at Dragons can't be beat. The Mexican and Italian restaurants are very good as well. The surf and turf restaurant called Blue Water was average, not bad but nothing to wow about.
Rooms and Hotel Common Areas (A). We like modern and minimalist decor so we enjoyed the vibe the hotel gives. Very clean and constantly maintained by the staff. The large fireplace in the lobby is very inviting. The have a nice large table and an assortment of board games to pass the time. Yes, the room balconies are not very private but it didn't really bother us since we never saw anyone out there when we were enjoying the view from our room. Ideally, you want an even numbered room so your balcony faces North. The hotel to the North is very quiet and has a nice pool area to view. A low numbered room puts you closer to the beach and away from the elevators. We really didn't have any problems with hall noise. The rooms are spacious and provide lots of closet space and drawers for your things. The beds and pillows were comfortable.
Bars (A). We are not big drinkers, but we found the drinks to be of high quality. Try the blue margarita, you won't be disappointed. The glasses for beers were usually chilled and the bartenders were very attentive and friendly. The lobby bar gets a tad crowded in the evening so hang out at the piano bar in the early evening. Most people forget its there so you get great service. The sports bar was great. On Sunday they made sure everyone had a TV with their home team game on. The house wines were good, especially the Merlot.
Access to public transportation (A). The local bus stops at the Hard Rock Hotel which is right next to the Vi ne. The buses are safe, clean, and stop frequently. The cost is $1 per person. Note, hold on tight because the stop and accelerate fast. You can get to the ferry for a trip to IsaMujeres, the La Isla Shopping Mall, or downtown Cancun. The mall is an easy 20 minute walk from the hotel and provides some variety form the day to day resort activities.
Gym (B ). The gym has a decent selection of equipment to get in a good workout. However, they are missing a set of barbells. The rack is there, but no barbells yet. Yes, the gym gets a lot of sun in the a.m., so it gets hot. They should put some portable fans in the gym to help keep you cool. Great views of the resort and ocean throughout the gym.
Evening Entertainment (C). We really only had one great show which was a group of Cuban musicians and dancers. The rest of the entertainment was below average for a resort of this caliber. Being close to Cancun I thought they would have access to better talent. Cruise ships trump all inclusive resorts in this category. The daytime activities were on par with what you would expect.
Spa (C-) . The amenities in the spa were a real disappointment. No reason to show up one hour before your treatment. We have stayed at the Dreams Riviera Cancun and thought this spa would be comparable, but its not even close. The massage treatment was good, but not great.
This resort gets all the major items right and only has a few things to improve upon. You won't regret your stay here.
