"My trip to the Azul Beach resort was dampened by the lack of attention and poor service by the Reception staff. The following are just a few examples of their poor service:
Our room was booked with a second bedroom as we were traveling with my elderly Mother. When we got to our room it turned out to be a regular room with 2 beds in it. When I asked for an adjoing room or a room with a separate bedroom I was told to discuss this with my Travel Agent, or go on line and book another room at a cost??
I ran out of American money for tipping purposes, I asked the reception to exchange Canadian dollars to American (as there was a currency exchange notice posted) only to be told that they only exchange USA currency to Peso's or Peso's to USA currency NOT Canadian. However if you take a Taxi to the nearest town they can exchange your currency there???
On the day of the wedding it started to rain very heavily, I asked reception for some Umbrellas, only to be told they do not have them here, with out any effort to find any ????
My Grandaughter had a blister on her toe, as we were passing reception I asked for a Band aid, only to be told to buy them at the shop ????
That is just a few items that I thought should not have resulted in poor customer service.
As for the restaurants; There were no Buffet style meals, 4 A-La Cart restaurants with only 3 open at a time. The problem with this was they never changed the menus, which meant ordering the same meal a least twice during the stay. The breakfast meals were no better than a Super 8 Motel, Sausages, scrambled eggs, Hash browns etc., all from a hot plate, when there was food in them?my self and other guest constantly notifying staff that the hot plates were empty. (Bacon had to be ordered separately ?). Lunch time again, there were no Buffet style options. Again the food had to be ordered from a menu that stayed the same throughout our stay.
My son and his family was given a room next to us, which was infested by Ants. They managed to stick it out for 2 days until they demanded another room.???
The only good comment I have from my stay at the Azul Beach Resort were the Beach waiters and the Bar staff, who showed exceptional service and courtesy which is normally expected.
I will not be returning to the Azul Beach Resort, nor would I recommend this resort to anyone.

"Amazing resort with friendly accommodating staff. My three and a half year old daughter had an amazing time in the kids club and all the pools. The small size of the resort makes for a more personable feel. After the first day all of the staff were calling us by our first names and made us feel welcome. Not once were we concerned about our safety while on the resort. All in all the best resort we have stayed at and will definitely be going back."

"We booked a deluxe room and had hazzles getting a king bed confirmed initially. Two double beds was a deal breaker for us. All the web site pictures are of the 'new' side of the resort and do not accurately depict what you actually get for a room. Our room was very small for 2 people and shabby to say the least. We have been down to Mexico on 4 other occasions and have always been very happy with our rooms. This fell very short for a 5 star resort.
Perhaps the biggest complaint we have is the stress we and many other families encountered with check in. For some reason, even though they confirm your reservations, when you arrive they tell you they have no room and try to shuttle you off to one of their other resorts. We saw many other people loudly arguing with the front desk person, who wasn't very professional or polite. When you arrive after a long day and flight with small children this is the last thing you need or expect to encounter.
On the positive side, everything else was wonderful. This resort has wonderful stall outside of the front desk. Would we return again? No way. It is not what we expected accomodation wise for the money you pay!!!!"
