"We just got back from Sirenis and although we mostly enjoyed our stay, here are my comments:

1. Rooms need their furnishings & linens updated. The bedding was old & often had small stains on them. The couch in the room was run down. The towels were like drying off with sandpaper. You have to request washcloths, and even then they don't know what you're talking about most of the time.
2. The buffet was great at most meals. Plenty of choices & most of the Mexican dishes served there were actually better than our a la carte Mexican meal. The dessert station needs better options. (churros all the time please!!!)
3. Resort needs more nightly entertainment options. It was either go to the show in the theater or stay up to go to the discoteka, which wasn't impressive. They were playing mostly American music, and I would have liked to have heard Spanish music, being in Mexico!
4. Staff were all very friendly & helpful. The housekeeping didn't really understand any English, but the rest of the staff was well-spoken. The waiters at the buffets were attentive & even remembered our drinks that we'd frequently request. We only came across one semi-rude staff member, and that was a towel boy at the quiet pool. We went to reach for two towels (one to lay on and the other dry off with) and he said, 'One towel only.'
5. Kayaking on the beach was great, as well as the little Mayan ruins directly on the property.
6. Ice cream bar needs more options, including toppings
7. Gift shops had good stock, but were a little overpriced.
8. The gym was too far. It needs to be located in the center of the resort; I would have liked to have used it, but it was too far & didn't feel like taking the shuttle to it.

Overall, it's a nice resort, but I would probably look elsewhere next time we go to Mexico.

"This was our third visit to the Grand Sirenis, and it is not the hotel it once was. Although the grounds and pools are spectacular, the rooms are run down and the musty smell is very strong, lingering at home weeks later. It seems their attention has shifted to their condos and time shares. Also, a new towel policy at the pools lets visitors take as many towels as they want so they can save as many lounge chairs as they want. Although it seems like a small matter, I don't want to have to get up at dawn to get in a race to claim a lounge chair, which is what is required if you want a shaded chair at the pool or beach. Not a relaxing way to start a vacation day. Also, as returning guests and members of the Grand Sirenis Club, we thought we might get some token of appreciation, but at check-in, knowing we were returning guests, we were offered nothing and told it would be $300 for an ocean view room. We have stayed at other resorts in the Riviera Maya, which we will consider in the future.
An option for whether you would return or recommend this hotel should include 'Uncertain' or 'Unlikely.'"

"I just returned from a 4 night trip to the Grand Sirenis and here's a summary:

1. The resort is nice, beautiful water and pools; albeit a bit far from Cancun.

2. The food is bland and mediocre at best. We upgraded to a gold package to eat ala carte every night, but should have stayed at the buffet as the food was a little better there. DO NOT UPGRADE!!

3. The chromotherapy at the spa is a hook to get you in to buy more services. These services were good, and we had a good massage, but it cost us $145

4. The staff are very nice and accomodating.

5. Be prepared to walk a lot.

6. Avoid the salesmen at the shows, you get better souveniers off the resort in town.

7. DO NOT TAKE THE TIME SHARE PITCH (no matter what they thow at you).

8. The ONLY beer they have is Corona...not great.

It was nice, but when I think 'all-inclusive' it has to be of a quality that I'd be into if I was paying, because what's the point of having all the 'mediocre' food and drink you can have?

"My wife,and I spent our 6th Anniverary at the Sirenis In May for a week.

Everything was just great. The food was great. We enjoyed snorkeling around the reef.My wife never wanted to get out of the water. The in room jacuzzi was to die for. The fact is, we shall return for a week in July. It´s a very nice place, you should come on down. "
