Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort and Spa - All-Inclusive
Carretera Federal Cancun-Tulum, Zona Costera, Km. 256.3, Akumal, Mexico 77710

Location

The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort and Spa is situated just 20 miles south from Playa del Carmen, and 1 hour from the Cancun International Airport. The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort and Spa has five spectacular virgin beaches, making the location one of the best on the entire Mayan Riviera. Plus, the largest coral reef on the Mayan Riviera is situated directly in front of the resort`s beaches. It is perfectly accessible to swimmers, and of immense interest to snorkelers and anyone experienced in deep sea diving. The Yalku lagoon, near Akumal, is connected to the sea, and the combination of sweet and salty water provides the ideal conditions for parrot-fish, huge turtles, and other tropical fish. A cenote (natural cave) is formed by subterranean water, and because of the natural rock filtration, has a high level of purity.

I'll start off by saying that this is my second time in Mexico and I travel multiple times a year to various places! Mexico is absolutely beautiful and I recommend you get out of the resorts to see the true beauty of Mexico! especially the cenotes... absolutely mesmerizing! must also see the Mayan ruins of Tulum and Chichen Itza! anyway back to the resort... it is very large and beautiful, the activities are great and the nightly entertainment is actually impressive considering it's a resort!... I am not sure how this place got a 5 star rating . The staff was awesome and that is about the only positive that I can give this resort. We decided to try something different since our daughters are nearing college age. We usually just go to Florida to relax. Anyway, we chose this place due to the price and the 5 star rating. I will start with the food. The buffet was...okay. The a la carte restaurants were...ok to terrible. The 'steak house' was unbelievably bad. I have had better ste... Read more

The resort is very large, which many of them on Riviera Maya are, but unlike others, this one was really hard to navigate. We spent the first two days just trying to find our way around, thinking that the pool was in a certain direction but wandering around frustrated. It's very hot and humid this time of year, and it's not pleasant sweating like crazy just trying to find the pool. Nothing is in a straight line, and access is a hassle. Booking the a la carte restaurants was a pain, and took a lo... Read more

We stayed there for 9 days. The beach was red flagged every day but one 4 hour time frame. The snorkel equipment they lend you is for one hour per day and it is nasty with mold in it, never cleaned. Take your own. You will need water shoes for the ocean. Plan on walking a lot. Only bar open after 4:00pm is in the lobby unless you want beer at the pool. Food is ok, not great. Japanese restaurant is very good. Men must wear pants. Buffet is ok nothing great. We were walking on a trail a... Read more

My husband and I have enjoyed the Mayan Riviera a number of times, but this was our first time to bring the kids. We picked the perfect place! We could walk out from the beach and snorkel with turtles, stingrays, and beautiful coral. The pools were beautiful, and the lazy river was fun too. The resort was amazing%u2026excellent staff and restaurants. Even the shows exceeded our expectations. Yes, there was some seaweed, but you can't predict when that will come. Highly recommend bringing ... Read more

If you are beach people, then don't go there because the beach if full of rocks and seaweed. We can not even walk in water without sandal or water shoes, the rocks so rough and sharpand sometimes smelly from the ocean water..But if you don't care for laying on the beach, or swimming in the ocean , this hotel is excellent with lots of activites such as biking, tennis, dolphin show... We also enjoy the entertainment everynight @ theater. The food is very good, with different choices.

Nice hotel, scenic beach but you need water shoes to get into the water. Not a beach you can take a nice long walk on either. My complaints about the Grand Sirenis are mostly management issues: block 13 has no stairs or elevator or fire escape. It can only be accessed from block 12 or 14. This is not only inconvenient, but a hazard.front desk staff English knowledge is not the best: wrote down wrong room number- intervals between shuttles are very long if you are not a premium member- during our... My husband and I were invited to a wedding at the Grand Sirenis, at first I was a bit nervous to go. But all that went away as soon as we arrived, everyone who greeted us was friendly and very helpful. We at first had a room with two double beds (we requested a King) within 15 minutes we were settled into a new room with a King bed. The rooms were very well kept and were cleaned in a timely fashion. The food was exceptional with such a wide selection no matter how fussy you are you would find so... Read more

We just returned after a 7-day stay at the Grand Serenis. We cannot compliment the staff enough - the cleaners and all the behind the scenes workers - they are amazing! We will compliment the resort but only for the obvious hard work of the staff. Kudos to the staff - but management - you leave a lot to be desired.
