I can only say this: I stayed at the Tropicano with groups of students from Woodberry Forest School in Virginia/USA numbering from 12 - 21 students for many years, a total of 18 times starting in 1989 ; we ALWAYS found the facilities completely adequate, breakfast buffet good and ample, and the staff(beginning with Cesar Galindo in reservations to Ruben in security, as well as the cleaning staff) to be competent and friendly. Clean hotel but very run down. Very old, beat up furniture in rooms. Sheets fall off beds as soon as you lay down. Mattresses hard and pillows very small. The staff were very nice and most spoke some English. The wait staff at the Restaurant were all very good and professional We had a lot of trouble with air conditioning . We rented two rooms for our family of 6. In the first room we were given, the a/c did not work at all so we were moved to another room where the a/c did work. However, bo... Read more

The first 2 nights we did not have a nice view, we were facing the back of the hotel. We asked the management to change our room for a view of the pool, which they did for a little extra money. It was much nicer. There is a nice beach just across the street, but we stayed at the pool most of the time. Staff was friendly. The food is good at the hotel. Our last day we went to the restaurant where the cliff divers jump. Very nice restaurant. We made friends that were also from Ottawa, Canad... Read more
