As usual very small room for Tune hotel. But this time really had terrible experience in Tune Hotel Downtown Penang. Dirty wall, sticky floor, hair on toilet wall & spider web stick on the aircond. Old building with lack of maintenance. Also the New World Park parking is very EXPENSIVE. The rate is also very confusing by Tune hotel. NO NEXT TIME for this hotel.

Good: Value for money, good air conditioner, good location, friendly and helpful staff, fast service Bad: No TV, parking rate RM6 per entry is too expensive, pls improve yr parking rate to RM6 per day. Not per entry. Thank u.

This hotel location is very good. The room is small, but clean and comfy. The staff didnt let us check in because they had not received the booking confirmation (we booked 2 days before arrival and brought our confirmation letter), such a poor service. After we insisted, finally the hotel let us check in. There is no wifi even at reception area. At the right side of the hotel, you can find starbuck and new world park food court, where you can find many choices of food, including penang char kwet... Read more

Bed: Pretty much OK Location: Very good. Walkable to almost everything Room: I'm sure they discriminate big sized people. Just take a look at the pathetic space to walk to the toilet. Toilet: The space is FULLY utilised so if you're using the toilet make sure nobody opens it, it will smash you right in the face Shower was alright, powerful Room cleanliness: Floor is extremely dirty better bring your own in room slippers Noise level: I could her people sneezing that's how bad their wal... The room was on the promotion rate. We chose the one without the windows. As we got into the room, we could smell the odour from the mould in the bathroom. Probably the lack of sunlight made it worse. The floor was dirty, seemed like not properly mopped. The bathroom also felt uncleaned thoroughly, the mould grew in the shower area was not an exciting sight. When we stayed at this hotel last year, the room was significantly better, but this time we were unlucky. Although it is true that you get ... Read more

The price of this hotel is decent, room are small in size but our complain is the cleanliness of the room is terrible. There is no free parking for this hotel, you have to pay RM6 per entry. Location is what makes us choose this hotel, close by to lots of eatery. Overall i would rate this hotel value for money.

3 nights 4 days stay in Penang was quite pleasant. The building was easily recognise, and did not have any hard time to search for it.. Day one, shocked to see the room was cramped. Although i knew it was a budget hotel, so i was not expecting to have lcdtv. I expect to at least have a water jug heater in the room. Day two, rented a car, then wanted to park in the hotel area, the security guard on duty said that there were no more space in the area, so i parked at the private parking next to the... Read more

Its value for money and strategic location. However, there is no sound proof. Heard noices from the corridor and upstairs, so it wasnt a good sleep even though the bed is big. But overall, it was ok given the price paid is cheap.

The hotel is within a nice location. Only few minutes to go to Gurney Plaza and Paragon mall between rm$15-18. Walking distance of 10-15mins to Komtar. A short walk to Starbuck next door, Giant, KFC etc. The hotel's partner tour agent was worthy to get you around town or other distant attraction or the Airport. Few things that needed to be improve are clealiness of the room and toilet. Dust, hairs are easily visible on the floor when we first entered our rooms. The rooms we stayed requires main... Read more

Just only few walks to 7-11 and Starbucks. We also take very delicious chicken rice next to the hotel. Room is so small but price is very acceptable. We paid for Wifi at 12 RM but very poor signal. Quick check in and check out. We will come back for sure.

It was good for backpackers, not for family. Their room is very small, even doors can't properly open in some rooms! But as a whole, its satisfactory for those who wants to be in budget. They should improve room environment, by putting a fridge at least, so people can have chilled water at night or early morning. A 7eleven store is downstairs, which provides a real convenience, as the hotel does not provide any water.

Terrible for not enough parking space. Have to park the car opposite or far away and this caused a lot of trouble if come with family with children's n aged parents and also need to drop down the luggage beside the road with heavy traffic. The room WiFi totally can't be connected although with ID and password than we have pay n included.

From the moment we arrived, we faced nothing but problems. Our air conditioning wasn't working. The ventilation fans were down. Some of the wiring was short circuiting and causing bathroom lights to flicker. We were offered and upgrade to another room in which we encountered other problems. A rag was left on the bed while we were gone, beds were not changed or made as requested and trash was non thrown out. For every problem we had above, we had to personally inspect to ensure they were carr... Read more

1)Family didn't experience the power shower and/or 5 star bed, as claimed 2)Reception area was poor and not appealing. Unsightly presence of a rotten packed drink probably place by a worker hanging on the glass wall at the reception area 3)Poor parking arrangement. Quite inconvenient. 4) Although it's a budget hotel, but standards can be better. It doesn't cost any much more in operating expenses

Pros Clean and modern Good value Cons Windows were located directly looking into window of room from another wing. So you have to choose between natural light or privacy. It would make sense to have the windows frosted I was quite unwell and my husband asked staff where he could find a doctor and they did not know. It would be expected that staff can arrange connection with an English speaking doctor and this was disappointing There was a loud noise that seemed to be a generator or insects that... Read more

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights 10 mins walk from Komtar. Lobby is on the 2nd floor. There is a convenience store at the ground floor. Friendly staff, the room was fine. On the first night, we found the toilet seat was broken and they replaced it with the new one promptly. There was a water leaking in the room, wifi did not work very well, had to use 4G instead.

The staff were nice, if I asked for help, they gave it. I needed to ask though, like to go down for wifi code, which was a bit silly. My room wasn't clean really, I had a much better experience in Hotel Of Journey Hostel- that was clean and helpful, warm and welcoming. Pretty much sums up what the budget hotel didn't manage. I'd wanted my own space for a night, but the space was grimy and not relaxing, therefore.

Excellent location. 7/11 right below means convenient access to midnight snacks and breakfast. Starbucks down the road too. They have no extra pillows nor towels, be aware. I slept in a double bed with 3 pax. No TV, so don't expect Tune to be the type of hotel to lounge about in during the day... go sight seeing! VERY narrow around the bed. If you're on the larger side, it will be very inconvenient for you to navigate throught the room. Showers are a 10/10. Loved them. No shower gel provide... Read more

This Tune Hotel HAS DROPPED STANDARDS DRAMATICALLY SINCE PREVIOUS STAYS .Pillows and mattress had extensive blood stains and the premises is generally shabby . Distance from end of toilet to wall in our room was 30cm. ..have to sit sideways .Prices have been increased substantially and Tune ,with tiny rooms and add ons is no longer good value.

The rooms are basic, but comfortable and clean. The location is excellent, you can walk into town easily or catch buses nearby. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, advising on where things are, what to see, where to catch buses and local prices. The only things that could be improved are the Wi-fi and noise levels from outside. Definitely great on a budget though, good value for money.

We booked few rooms online. Size of these rooms were too small like 2 steps to door from bed, 1 step to bathroom. Hot water was perfect. Tune Hotel Downtown dont have there own parking so parking will be paid like if there is space so 1 rm per hour. Do remember, check-in time is 2pm and check out is 11pm and if you come early to check in they will charge you Rm 15 per room. Room service and room condition was perfect.

A big plus point for me would be when I first walk in to a hotel room and it smells of fresh laundry. This was how we found our room on our third stay. One thing that was consistent on all three visits was that the bed linen and towels were very clean with no visible stains. I found a mouldy hand bidet hose in the windowless room, but other than that there is nothing major that I would complain about. We did not hear any outside noise during our stays, so having a restful sleep was easy. I woul... Read more
