Very central budget hotel in Georgetown. Next to busstop, between jetty and Komtar shopping and hub of the city. Rooms are simple, but comfortable and clean. Some have balconies. Breakfast is included, toast jam peanut butter marmite. Juice coffee and tea. You can also order eggs and sausage at a very small extra fee. Breakfasts lady is like an encyclopaedia of knowledge and a goodwill ambassador when it comes to information about Penang. She even hands out maps and an array of good tips. All st... Read more

Its in a good location, the staff is very helpful and speaks English and good with directions. Its an old hotel don't expect much, the breakfast mainly consists of cereal and toast and jam. Beds are small, so make sure you check out the beds before getting in. Over all for cheap price place is quite good

Stayed 4 nights in Mingood Hotel in Apr 2016. The hotel is exactly as advertized. Location excellent, in the heart of Georgetown, close to bus stops, bus terminal central hub (Komtar), taxis, tourist sights, local food (Jalan Penang, Lebuh Kimberley, Lebuh Chulia, etc), F&B chillout district (near E&O Hotel), shops, shopping malls. All within easy leisurely walking distance. Hotel is safe, clean, quiet, convenient. Good value for money. Old world charm. It has a nice, serene, scenic, cool, ai... Read more

Staff is always exceptional and the location is perfect. The hotel is older but the rooms are clean and spacious. WIFI works well and the breakfast is good for the cost and you can also order eggs & sausage extra. I stay here every time I go to Penang because the staff is the best of any hotel I've been to.

The hotel was center to everything within walking distance to the center of George town in Penang. The staff are excellent their and always at hand to help you with your needs. The room was basic but clean and tidy with AC. The AC could have been a bit more cooler but overall was good. As I was not staying at the hotel much I can say it was good for my needs. The Breakfast was also basic but was good, if you wanted 2nd helpings it was always possible, the kitchen staff was also very helpful as w... Read more

Cheaper to book on line. Great staff, Chia the breakfast lady is a mine of helpful information, reception staff are really helpful too. Location great, quick walk to everything, including Chulia St, Komtar/Prangin Mall down Penang Road where the bus stop is for public buses to most places of interest; ask reception staff for one of their bus timetables. Room 403 balcony had a million dollar view, room with fridge, wall mounted tv, aircon, hot water and bath, safe. Very happy in Mingood, me... Read more

When I was looking for place to stay in Penang, I didn't look for hotel at all. But what they offer are pretty fair with the price. The room are big, I got double bed room, with tv, hot water shower and bathtub. They offer with simple breakfast too and you can iron you cloth in share area. The location maybe not in the center of heritage site but it's walking distance to some attraction. Their service are great, the staff are very helpful.

Stayed here for 4 nights, it was ok but the room was non smoking but had an ash tray and a cigarette end in the bin. We are used to the non smoking rooms in SEAsia all smelling of smoke now. The place is really central to everything, we walked everywhere and only got the bus to Penang Hill. The buses do not give change so have the correct fare ready. Breakfast is just toast and if you want eggs who have to pay for them. The hotel could do with a lick of paint and a bit of moderation but then I s... Read more

The Mingood Hotel is a bit like the Atlanta Hotel in Bangkok, but only a bit, (if you haven‚??t stayed at the Atlanta, do yourself a favor, it‚??s real BKK history). But back to the Mingood, in it‚??s day it was probably damn good, it‚??s ‚??day‚?? may have passed but it is well maintained and pretty good value for money, meaning it isn‚??t too pricey for what you get. This hotel offers all the expected features like WiFi ‚?? TV and Hot Water. Rooms are big, ask for one with a balcony and watch ... Read more

The hotel was in an amazing location. It is walking distance to so many places and is extremely close to public transport. We had a great stay in the hotel and the staff were amazing. The hotel itself is a little dated, but is absolutely fine as a base for budget travellers. The hotel provides a basic free breakfast, which was a great start to every morning. It is close to shopping centres and eateries and we had a great stay for a great price.

No hot water for my stay, bathroom roof and water pipe both leaking. Complained twice and nothing done except given a load of bull. Free room safe and Spacey room, breakfast ok with surprisingly Marmite on offer.

Good value hotel. Really large rooms and large comfortable beds. The set-up may be a little dated but who needs it when you'll be out the entire day anyway? Friendly staff especially the cleaning lady on the 4th floor. Breakfast is just toast and cereal but who wants to have breakfast in a hotel when you have tea shops with dim sum or kaya toasts around you? Stayed here twice already.
