Good value for money. Everything is at a walking distance. Receptionists and bell captains were very helpful. Rooms were also very clean and spacious. But very noisy in the night because of the food paradise next to the hotel. Very loud music and hotel management should take up this public nuisance with the law enforcement authorities as people can't sleep in the night. All and all hotel has value for money. Bryan and Velle are good guys in the reception. Hope to see u guys again.

Haven't been here in a while, so was pleasantly surprised that it has been recently renovated and refurbished. The security has also been improved. The price has also been raised, but then everything is more expensive these days. The receptions staff could do with a little more interpersonal skills, but the support staff are as friendly and helpful as always. Another thing that I did notice is that there are no rickshaws parked at the entrance, an indication that this is a more respectable e... Read more

My room, i gave point only 4. We took family room with extra bed. But they only gave us 2 water bottle. All things only for 2 person while family room for 4 person. So noisy at night, i think the next building are cafe or night club. The towel only 2. The room not clean enough. The breakfast was ok since many varians. But overall i enjoyed stay there for one day. If there any second day, sorry to say, ill move to other hotel.

This hotel are always be my 1st choice to stay in Georgetown. Easier to get to this hotel by using the free shuttle bus from the jetty terminal and local bus from airport. walking distance to most of all tourist spot. Be prepared with noise as there is a club nearby.

The room was decent but could hear so clearly the loud karaoke music of the bars (which only stopped at 1am) opposite the hotel. No wifi in spite of the hotel's promises that there was free wifi in the rooms and everyone we spoke to regarding this issue just kept asking us to keep trying and then at 11pm suggested we switch rooms!! The hotel's manager was so unapologetic and unremorseful , he just stood there stoically staring at us. The area of the hotel was very dodgy and felt unsafe, sure it... Read more

Except from the music from Red Garden it was nice hotel. We extend our stay 2 times. Nice staff. Nice and clean rooms. Most of the time the internet was poor but down in the lobby it was okay. The hotel is now under renovation but on floor 5 we didn't hear so much from it. I hope they will do renovation at the breakfast restaurant. The chairs was more or less broken.

At the price, it's a nice hotel, although a little dated. Was undergoing some renovations, so was a tad noisy. Spacious rooms with good bathrooms. They need to throw away the linen ware and get new ones. Service is pretty decent. Located in central George Town..

Currently staying at this hotel. We arrive this afternoon 11th of July, and the room looked nice. Then we looked at the bed : dirty sheets. Then we entered in the bathroom : hairs in the sink, water and hair still in the shower like someone just took a shower. We asked the reception to clean the room and they did. The worst part is happening right now : it is almost midnight and there is "concert" just down the street (very loud music). The windows are so thin, it is like being in the street. ... Read more

The room is nice and spacious but I think the towel should change as it looks old. Overall, the hotel is actually old hotel but the management just renovated it which looks new. It is just nice to stay and with short walking distance, we can reach the famous chendul stall, market and restaurants.

I stayed at hotel Malaysia. From the outside, this hotel looks like a budget motel but believe me, it was a renovated hotel from the inside. I totally hate the way they built their toilet. Why on earth you built transparent glass wall for the toilet. I thought toilet should be a private place. The toilet sit was shaky. You are able to see people taking their bath. I prefer the normal wall. In addition, the space was a little bit small. Not suitable for 5 people. On contrary, in terms of service,... Read more

The location is a plus for me. Biggest negative is the wifi. You have to continually keep logging in. Very annoying indeed. Just plain silly. The windows aren't double glazed and so, if you face Red Garden Food Paradise, you can hear the evening music. This did NOT disturb me at all, however. It was faint. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The TV channels do not include an English language news channel. I crave news. CNBC is a financial channel. Great if you are a banker or stockbroker ... Read more

Short trip to Penang, we were at Hotel Malaysia from 14-17 September. The room on the 7th floor was quiet, we could not hear anything from the street below. The hotel staff at the Reception area and the coffee house were attentive and courteous. The breakfast buffet spread was sufficient for our hungry souls. Locality was good and we could move around town easily from where we were.

Reception was very efficiency which check in and check out process just took less than 3 minutes. Room is very good looking and comfortable but it has a strong chlorine smell when we entered the room. Housekeeping was efficiency as well when they just took around few minutes to sent some tissue as my request. But the Wi-Fi in room has a very bad connection, it's very slow. I would rather use my data than using the Wi-Fi. And the breakfast has a limited choices and the breakfast area has a weir... Read more

Staying at room 102 from 1st to 3rd. Room was clean and look like has been renovated and upgrade. For 3 star hotel located in Penang road, its easy reach to tourists destination which is good. Parking place although have 2 area, its limited. We didn't take the breakfast since its at basement and weird smell that we encounter years back. Seems it same by reading previous comment. Other than that, good hotel to rest.

We went there with friends and the location is great with newly renovated spacious room and clean. Price is very reasonable for a short trip. Will definitely go back when I'm back to Penang! There is few 24 hours convenient stores right below the hotel and walking distance to the heritage cafes!

This is an old hotel but has been recently refurbished. This hotel was recommended by a friend for its location and comfortable rooms. I used to pass by this hotel for years, never giving it a thought until the recommendation was made, and I decided to give it a try. Arrived just before 2pm but there was already a room ready for us despite the relatively high occupancy by tour groups and families. The bed was nice, bathroom clean with hot shower available. Our room faces the Penang Channel so... Read more

We travel 3 adult and 2 babies. The family room is big and more than enough space to accommodate us. The old hotel is having good 'facelift' give us new lift, nicer bathroom, new linen. Pros: - clean - location, walking distance to sup Ahmed, Nasi Kandar, chow rasta market, jeruk (pickle) haji ali, pub, etc. - taxi pool is just in front of the hotel - CAT city free bus, and rapid Penang bus pass by in front of hotel. - breakfast is simple but good Cons: - no toiletries in bathroom. While it's exterior may not look so much, but they've just refurbished their rooms so all the rooms looks new and very clean. In fact, for the price they charged it was a steal! The room were spacious, had everything you need - and while most hotels have forego fridge in order to be more economical, they still have it! This hotel is also strategically located - a lot of tourist or non tourist place is within walking distance. Food and amenities is easily within a 5 minutes walk or just oppos... Read more

It's very convenient, by just walking we could visit most nice places, doing our shopping at our leisure, visit famous tourist spots and enjoying our favourite food at the popular eating spots. That's why I want to come back to visit Penang every year to do these activities and making sure we stay at this Hotel Malaysia with free parking.

Location is next to a number of eateries and the red garden food paradise market. Also close by to indian food like Kambing soup and Bryani stall endorsed by Najib? Hotel wise Internet is pretty slow. Bathroom is design superior much like UK hotels but would be better if they provide shampoo and cleaner bedsheets . Staff especially bellhop is friendly for advice. Hotel charges a refundable $50 ringgit deposit and $2 council fee pp. Breakfast not of much variety. Hotel is also quite old and still... Read more
