(1) Found quite a few inadequately washed plates at Breakfast. (2) We were a group of 26 pax and the check-out process was very very tedious. Hotel staff insisted on doing a physical check of each of the 12 rooms before refunding the security deposit - a measly sum of MYR 150!

The hotel is located near to bus stop and there is a food court just behind the hotel. Free WI-FI is only provided at the hotel lobby. The staff was friendly and efficiency to solve my problem when I wanted to change my room.

this hotel has been here for quite sometime and high time it need's a make over. location is good and all the eateries and heritage area are within walking distance. right in front are a few indian muslim stall's. Furniture's are all old and they dont even replenish the toiletteries when used everyday. the buffet breakfast is limited. need's to improve on the service.

Location: it's at Penang Road so it is nearby to many attractions & famous eateries. Service: Check in & Check out process are very quick so far, unless there's a big group before you. Breakfast: limited choices, but seriously when I go Penang I wanted to eat those street food as much as possible. Cleanliness: 4/5, it's old but clean Value for money: The higher your room, the better your view (city view or sea view). Beds are comfy, though there's limited TV channels but there's Fox Movies. I am a bit of a hotel snob, but I also understand things for what they are when I am traveling. With that being said, the Continental is just functional. Coming from the US, this would be a 2 star hotel at best, but living in Asia says this is closer to a 3 star. Pros; clean room, comfortable bed, friendly and helpful night-staff. Cons; floor in room was wet for no apparent reason, basically non-existent internet, 2 English speaking TV channels, and a breakfast that was anything but continental.

Superior room Pros - Very spacious, bathtub, good location, coffee / tea maker, good breakfast, parking space included and good value for money. Cons - TV location is odd, towels were thin, tub condition needs improvement, service at breakfast area poor [very slow to replenish food]

The entire hotel needed much renovation and upgrade so badly!!!! I don't mind old fashion designed hotel but staff's uniform are all worn out from black to grey color, the carpet in the hotel especially the aisle smells so badly I had to hold my breathe I'm so scared the bacteria will eat me up. The roof has water marks all over! Luckily the room didn't smell that bad or I wouldn't know how am I going to spend the night there. Bed and pillow was alright, but gosh, can't they afford proper blanke... Read more

Short and simple.... Yes it's an old hotel bla bla bla.... Yeah it's old coz I knew this hotel since I was a kid... and I can tell you that is a long long time ago, but it's good value for money.... For a simple business traveller, what I need is a low price, safe and clean hotel... And this hotel meets all my expectations... Cheap, safe, clean... Added bonus, big room... and I mean, it's big!... parking available, it's in penang Road where food is just across the street round the clock, 24 h... Read more

It was a short stay with friends and family. Nice and comfy hotel. Breakfast adequate. Strategically located, within walking distance to the nicest clubs and local restaurants. We got a quiet room, so well rested after our daily rendez vous in Penang

We took family room deluxe with two large size bed. The price is 20% cheaper (walk in price) compared to neighboring hotel. Itâ??s a great value for money. I totally love the Penang view from this hotel. We enjoyed the Seaview from 8th floor (see picture). The hotel provided tissue box instead of toilet tissue roll. It was very convenient. The location of the hotel also is very strategic. This hotel is located in front of popular Hameed soup and Thai food. Both restaurant was great but the pri... Read more

I last stayed here years ago, just after I had graduated from USM Penang. I remember the hotel as comfortable though not luxurious. Well, it seems to be well maintained! I had a view of the sea though the window was a bit small. Breakfast was ... well, simple! Still, I had a comfortable stay here.

The Hotel Continental in my well traveled mind a three star hotel centrally located in historic George Town. The hotel is a bit worn down although the rooms are clean due to an attentive cleaning staff. I was attending a conference and a private breakfast was provided. After looking at the breakfast I chose to eat at an outside cafe. I checked in at night and was given a room where the shower did not function. I called the front desk to report the issue and they said they would send an engineer ... Read more

Stayed 1 night with my family in a double queen bedroom. The hotel must have seen more glamorous days 20-30 years ago. It feels as if we are back to the 1990's. Let's start with the location and check in first. Due to its old design, you will need to park your car first before you take lift and WALK down half a level by stairs to the reception lobby. You can imagine what happens when we are checking out of the hotel, especially when you bring big suitcases and small kids. The hotel is just bes... Read more

Stayed for 1 night in executive suite and the room is spacious can easily fit more than 5 pax. The hotel design is old school. More like late 80's and early 90's design. The price is reasonable and the breakfast is just alright. Located along the famous Penang Road, you can easily walk to nearby attractions such as Chowrasta, Little India and Armenian Street.

Have stayed here on a number of occassions and have been happy with the rooms everytime. Once needed the toilet to be fixed and it was done straight away. It is a good price for a good hotel in a great location with great views wether you are on the sea side or city side. Some very good food to be had in the area and close to alot of areas of interest withen walking distance. There is free carparking in the parking building attached to the hotel.

Room is clean with the city view. You could enter and exit the hotel like a wind, no staffs would mind you. It's just along Penang road. infront is the town's best country bar and the Sup Hameed. Highly recommend for its location.

The hotel is shows it's age, so lots of stuff is kinda breaking. For a similar price one might be able to get better accomodation elsewhere on the same street. Centrally located, so that's a plus. Beds are as hard as any that I've ever slept on.
