A superb hotel in the centre of Riga on a great square. Close to bars, resteraunts and easy walking distance to all of the musuems and historical monuments. Staff are excellent. Recommend 1221, Queens pub.

This hotel was excellent. Great central location with lovely views out the room window. Straight onto the street but very quiet. The staff were excellent and always greeted us every time we walked in or out the building. Helpful when giving advice. The room was very comfy, cosy and clean. Breakfast was nice.

We arrived at the hotel in the early evening. when we checked in, we were told that the rooms booked in January (2 rooms with twin beds) were not available until the following night. The rooms they had made available for us were 2 double rooms. This was not acceptable as we were a party of 4 males. We were then offered 2 executive suites which sounded ok, but the receptionist told us it would cost us 10 euros each to upgrade. Again, we argued that this was not suitable as it was not our fau... I got a room facing the square and the music goes well into late night. However the location is super convenient and close to all the touristy spots. Would recommend it but it is definitely not a 4 star as advertised.

The hotel location is perfect! just in the heart of the old city. the room was extremely spacious! super clean including a french balcony overlooking the square which was amazing. there is a free fast t WiFi, good air conditioning a flat TV and a minibar.the staff was extremely kind and helpful. the breakfast was very good as well.take into account that you might hear some noise coming from the restaurants in the square below the hotel at night time mainly because they host singers for enterta... Checked in on 28 May and checked out on 31 May. I was met upon arrival outside, by a lovely baggage attendant called Leons, who was helpful, friendly, accommodating and very well spoken. I was a little taken aback though by the receptionist who asked if I wanted to settle my bill upon checking in. I didn't have a real problem with this, except that I was asked to pay in cash (I don't carry that much on me), because the card machine was not working. Eventually I agreed to pay a 20 Euro deposit, ... Read more

Very nice hotel located in the Old town. The room was nice and clean, and the staff where very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the muisc from the nearby restaurants, wich goes well into the night, but I will still choose to stay at this hotel if I return to Riga.

This excellent hotel is situated in centre of Riga Old Town and ideal for exploring beautiful surroundings, but visit mid week as it is spoilt at weekends by stag / hen nights. From the outset my experience at this hotel was very good, from being picked up from airport to the quick check in. The rooms were very clean and spacious portraying nice décor. Breakfast was served downstairs in very unique surroundings, food was good and plentiful. I do think hotel was overpriced but overall experience... Read more

The hotel is right in the Old Town - the main square is about 200 yards away, although there is a smaller square right next to the hotel.. It is a good hotel probably 4 stars by English standards. Rooms have air con and the breakfast (buffet) is very acceptable. Staff are very pleasant. We asked for third floor as this was recommended by others, we didn't hear much noise although we were there Tuesday to Friday. Receptionists very helpful - ordering taxi etc, giving directions. We did not use th... Read more

Due to a flight delay I arrived early in the morning. Hotel location: just in the city centre. Very dark lobby, very long check in procedures (computer out of use). The room 410 is clean but really microscopic and does not look like what they show on their website (and what I paid for). Post-brejnevian furniture. Only one microscopic pillow but they provided more for the following nights. Only one small bottle of water, but you can find bigger in the nearby Narvesen. Breakfast: average. The ... Read more

We stayed at the hotell for a long weekend. 1.floor with a view to the square. Surprisingly not too noisy. The room was nice and clean, and a short walk from most sights. The staff was friendly, and the advice we got for sights and restaurants were okay, but very standard. The breakfast contained a good range of choices, but for my taste, a more Latvian selection of foods, rather than italian mozarella salad, would be more interesting. The only thing to complain about was the espresso machine, ... Read more

The location is great, right on the main square. We were overlooking Egle Bar which can be noisy throughout the day and night but a great atmosphere. Took us 20 mins before we even got spoken to at check in, it was very rude. Then they said the restaurant was closed for refurbishment but how come we ate breakfast in the restaurant each morning?! Breakfast was poor, the absolute bare minimum. Small rooms and not cleaned for the 3 days we were there. Great location but we wouldn't stay there aga... Read more

Our visit to Riga was very enjoyable but our accomodation in Royal Square Hotel & Suites was terrible. Our reservation was June 23 to 26. We had booked two rooms for four persons. The air temperature was 28-32C. Air conditioning was not working in our room and 60% of the rooms in the hotel and room temperature was 26-28C. Nobody did not know how to fix it. The staff explains the incredible reasons. Eventually, we moved to a small suite. In suite's other room the air conditioning was not work... Read more

Firstly, although this hotel is listed as 5 star it isn't. The staff are very nice and really helpful and the location is fabulous, there are too many little things that knock the hotel down. The restaurant is closed in the evening, the air conditioning (in my room anyway) wasn't working which the hotel clearly knew about because they had provided a large fan and there were a lot of small repairs that need attending to like the missing light bulbs. Having said that breakfast was good and it ... Read more

They also ton our luggage in storage until we world return. The rooms were clean and decent. Nothing special but fine all in all. Location is great and the breakfast was good. Royal square is situated in the centre of old town, with stort distances to all sights and shopping. I'm sure the hotel was a five star hotel in the nineties, but is not today. The rooms has not been modernised to todays standard. Both our rooms lacked aircondition, which the hotel obviously knew and compensated for with a big fan. The hotel is situated close to several clubs, resulting in lots of noise at night. The hotel also lacked a gym room and coffee maker in the rooms. I expected more and... Read more

On arrival we were met by a friendly receptionist and porter who took our bags to the room. We had a nice room facing the square. The following morning at breakfast there was no tea or coffee available or glasses for juice - after 15 minutes the drinks arrived. The breakfast is a buffet which belongs to a 2/3 star hotel. This is surprising as the breakfast takes place in the Desiderata restaurant which has been one of my favourites in previous years in Riga, Our fridge did not work and was not r... Read more

Great location nice comfortable rooms. But maybe a 4 star. Breakfast was very basic maybe 3 star. Staff were friendly but still missed the personal touch. The hotel was very dark which I think was a bit weird but that's personal taste. In the hotel information booklet in our room it said that all guests can have use of the complementary saunas however when we booked we were told its 25 per person. This hotel with it's 5 stars rating should support hig expectiations, but it is really a 2.5 stars hotels. The room was clean but very basic. The furnishing from a cheap motel and the small bathroom with the same cheap quality. The breakfast included in the room rate was fair in quality. The only positive are the Well location in the historical city of Riga, A few blocks to the bus stop for airport transfer. The positive staffs at the front desk.

The hotel was perfectly located to explore the old town and the nightlife in that area. The hotel is very nice with that you would need, with a good breakfast. The best thing is the staff. I arrived late and was greeted by Laura, who was wonderfully helpful. She was incredibly knowledgeable about Riga and Latvia generally and gave some me great advice.

Perfect hotel in the Old Town - great to explore the surroundings and Riga. We booked an executive room which was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff were always on hand to answer any questions or to arrange taxis etc. Breakfast which was served in the restaurant downstairs amongst the old original ruins of the previous building; was a mixture of cooked items and continental style including pastries, fresh fruit, cheese and meats. Everything you need to start the day. Not sure w... Read more
