The staff at the Heron Portico offered a very professional and comfortable setting for our work activities. Up until the night before our roundtable event, staff were very flexible in rearranging the room set-up and adding participants. Our complicated bill was also handled accurately. Visitors seeking a vacation environment will be pleased with the amenities (new gym) and nice d├ęcor. The hotel is conveniently located, but car transportation is required for visiting any outside restaurant an... Read more

I've stayed at Heron for work on multiple occasions. The rooms, conference facilities, services are very good all around. But what keeps me coming back are the amazing cordial staff. Also, the heated pool is a nice added bonus after a long working day.

Great hotel maybe 1.5 kilometres from city staff very friendly in all aspects and room itself was very nice along with bathroom. Had a few issues with the TV but no real concern you don't go on holidays to watch tv but wanted to catch up on the news. Another minor issue they run out of money so couldn't exchange any US dollars so they directed me elsewhere once again no a real issue but for level of hotel you should always have these facilities. Exuding character, the Heron is a comfortable and relatively small hotel located in a safe and pleasant area to the west of, and close to, downtown (5 minutes by taxi). With a restaurant, caf├ę, shop, gym, swimming pool, Wi-Fi and conference facilities, it meets the varied demands of business and tourist guests alike whilst the staff are exceptionally cheerful, welcoming and very helpful: particularly impressive, and unusual in many other hotels, all team members are empowered to resolve issues... It was one of those lazy weekends and we decided to go our for lunch. Heron Portico was the place we ended and we were not disappointed at all. We were received by the Front office staff and shown to our table where our orders were taken and within minutes our meals were ready. Delicious and well presented.

I stayed here on two separate occasions in June of 2016 and experienced both the good and bad. First the good: clean rooms, great beds, amazing pool, fantastic breakfast. The bad: 1) On my first stay, I requested a pick up from the airport--they told me "no problem," thirty US dollars--"great" I replied. Of course, no one was there to pick me up. I waited for a good half hour standing in the sun, and nobody was there. Finally, a woman from a tour company came up to me and asked me who I was w... Read more

Simply the best 4 star hotel in the area and it outdoes its bigger and older rival the Panafric hotel opposite. Good value for money plus the rooms and beds are 5 star. You will always be back !!

I first were given a room in the first floor. Were a bit smelling moisture. Later they changed a larger room on 4th floor. This was better. Hotel seemed to be an old one. Had a small but clean pool. Smiley staff. Breakfast were not satisfactory. Around were so much green and silent. I liked it. Could be more clean but not bad. It should be cheaper a bit or shall change some furnitures and room instruments. If you are new in the area can be selected without doubt. Later you may look for better if... Read more
