We had a corner room that looked out over the bay. A beautiful ship was docked in the port which made for a spectacular view. The service was outstanding, as befits a 4-5 star hotel in Japan. There are two parts to the hotel, the old and new. We stayed in the newer part which is a tower, so the views are better. In the older part, it feels almost British. This was the hotel where General MacArthur stayed while negotiating the Japanese Instrument of Surrender after WWII. They even have his... Read more

Check In was quick and easy. We arrived just after 10 am, and check in time was 2.00pm. They advised that our room was just being cleaned and we were able to access it at 12.30pm. From our first contact at reception until our departure we found that everyone we had contact with helped make our stay enjoyable. Room - Clean, tidy with good amenities. It had plenty of space and was an adequate size for two people with two large suitcases & sundry luggage. We had a tower corner room with views ov... Read more

The hotel was in a very convenient location next to Chinatown, the room was beautiful, the staff were helpful and courteous. I would stay there again. The view of the marine tower out one window and the water with ships out the other window.

If I go back to Yokohama I would stay at this hotel again! It's situated right beside the yamashita park next to the harbour and has breathtaking views of the harbour from the rooms. The rooms are way bigger compared to the usual sizes in other Japanese hotels. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to help even though they don't speak much english. I chose the room with the harbor view on 10th floor and absolutely loved it!!!

Nice view from the room for Yokohama Port and Yokohama city. Only 2 min walk to the nearest metro station. Very close to China Town. Yokohama Port and Yamashita Park is just across the road. Great stay for Yokohama International Triathlon.

Pretty and classy hotel with a lot of history! When we stayed, the first floor where the restaurants and bar are were closed , with only one available on the fifth floor. Not a big deal, but wish we knew when we booked months ago. Good: Nice view if you get the higher floor , Minatomirai side. There is "The club" where you can have some tea or coffee , use a computer if you are staying 15th floor and up, open 10 to 6. Service on the reception and concierge was always good and professional. This is a very clean, roomy, comfortable Hotel, with gorgeous view if you select a room at the top floors (10 up) facing the Bay (we had 1304). Staff are very, very polite and kind, and most speak a minimum of English. Rooms are quiet, spacious, equipped with vanities, free wi-fi, minibar, spare slippers, bathrobes etc. You get an international newspaper every morning, and feel as if the cleaners are extremely respectful of the way you set your belongings in the room. It is strategically locate... Read more

Although in the middle of renovations to part of the hotel these were unobtrusive and room on 7th floor in tower gave great view of Yokohama harbour and cosmo world attraction. Could have walked with luggage to cruise terminal but chose to taxi it with luggage and quite a rise to the entrance to the Osanbashi terminal from street level cost 730 yen. Twin Room , room rate very reasonable, good size, staff very obliging . Very conveniently located for embarkation on cruises from Osanbashi Cruise t... Read more

The location is just next to the harbour park and so we could have a walk in the morning. The view is great and the room is clean and large. It is convenient to some famous spot such as Motomachi shopping street, red brick warehouse. Also, there is only few walk to Metro station. Overall, we enjoy the stay at Yokohama in Hotel New Grand so much~

We stayed in the Hotel New Grand for a week prior to embarking on a 10 night Summer Festival Cruise of Northern Japan. We originally intended to stay in Tokyo but because I broke my arm we decided to use Yokohama as our base. This was a wonderful decision given that it is only half an hour from Haneda Airport and there is an airport shuttle bus to Yamashita Park just minutes from the hotel. Unfortunately we arrived at 5.15 am and the first shuttle bus does not start until 8.40 am so we caught a ... Read more

Stayed in for a night. The staff were great with excellent English. The room we had was on the 11th floor and the view of Yamashite Park and Minato Mirai was breathtaking! The room was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. It was spacious and relaxing! Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Yokohama. Chinatown near but not too close and easy to get to the underground and the sea bus.

Service was top notch and the views spectacular! We stayed 3 nights and had a 16th floor twin room, which was clean and very comfortable for my teenage niece and me. The huge windows were almost wall to wall. After long hot days of touring the sites, I really enjoyed the peace, quiet (and air conditioning) sitting at the little table having a cocktail each evening watching the sun go down. The light show on the ferris wheel was a nice touch too. The location is about 3 minutes walk from Mot... Read more

The twin room we booked in the high tower was immaculate. You could not find a better room in Yokohama. Have been there 4X. Booked through IPrefer. The room price was very reasonable, all othere 5 star properties were 2-5X more due to obon weekend when many families take vacation. Was there for a Princess Cruise. Spent 3 nights there and liked Yamashita Park across the street. Only complaint was that all the restaurants in the hotel were closed due to renovations. Restaurants around the ... Read more

We stayed one night before joining a cruise. Centrally located on the harbour. The room in the tower was well appointed with all the facilities and wonderful panoramic views of the Harbour. The service was excellent and staff went out of their way to assist. Don??t overlook this hotel when next looking for hotel in Yokohama.

We took the Airport Limousine Bus from Narita Airport to YCAT, arriving 2100 and from here caught a taxi to the hotel. Staff welcomed us and efficiently checked us in to our lovely room with every facility provided. Woke up to a beautiful view of the port, were able to make and enjoy our own cup of green tea, and delighted to see our ship arrive. Great location -after our long flight it was lovely to walk along the foreshore and enjoy the garden and parkland just over the road. Could have walked... Read more

I had a layover in Japan an Yokohama is a good place to be if you have the time. This is my first time staying at the Hotel. It's very close to the water front and China town. The room rate was reasonable and the room was comfortable. Worth doing again. Enjoy!

Nice hotel. Great location. Cruise terminal down the street. Yamashita Park across the street. Great views of Yokohama Bay. Check out Admiral Perry's room/collection. I like the old architecture inside. Oh yeah they still use keys for hotel room door, not key cards, cool. Staff helpful English okay. Walking distance to Chinatown, subways.

This is a fantastic hotel! I'd move in if I could and stay for the rest of my life. A great combination of the old and new. Very easy to walk to from the last JR stop, 5 minutes at most. An absolutely beautiful park, Yamashita Park, just across the street on the harbor. Very nice running track. Also has ticket booths for harbor cruises. Gen. MacArthur stayed here for 2 nights after arriving in Japan on 8-30-45 to become shogun. He had earlier spent his honeymoon here on his way to PI from the S... Read more

My family of 4 stayed here for 1 night before getting to our cruise ship. Our 2 bay view twin tower rooms were on the Minato side, and we get a beautiful view of the harbour. We were surprised by the large room size too. Beds are comfortable,.....very friendly and good customer services. Location is excellent, just 4 mins walk to subway station and 10 mins walk to cruise terminal. During our stay, they were renovating the old building section, so we couldn't go there to see it. We LOVED our time in Yokohama. We entered Yokohama on a cruise ship. We walked to the hotel from the Osanbashi Pier, dragging our luggage. It was an easy walk, but in retrospect we should have taken a cab for a few hundred yen. The hotel graciously and securely stored our luggage until check in time. The concierge answered my e mail, helped us find vegan food nearby, answered questions about the trains and subway, she had several helpful maps to give us, called a restaurant to see if they were o... I cannot remember the last time I stayed in a hotel with a room key that really was a key but that tells you a bit about the Hotel New Grand which, although accomodation is in the new tower, harks back to earlier days. Rooms are especially spacious for Japan and the staff are delightful. The location, between Chinatown and the harbour is unbeatable.

From the moment we arrived tilled the time we left we were treated extremely well. The New Grand Hotel is across from a park and across from the bay. It is about a block from Chinatown and lots of restaurants. If you are taking a cruise from here, the terminal is only about 15 or 20 minutes away if you walk and about 5 minutes by cab. The staff was extremely helpful with all questions. It is a great place to stay in a great location.
