  • At the bottom of many large department stores, there is a foodie paradise of enticing aroma, energy and variety that appeals to all family members with diverse taste buds. Frequent them for their generous portions, fresh food and cheap prices with many items reduced close to dinner time. Kids love the yakitori sticks, noodles and mouthwatering desserts and pastries.
  • You`ll have so much fun at the Studio Ghibli Museum that your kids won`t want to leave. Studio Ghibli produces movies from famed Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. It`s filled with interactive animation displays, exhibits, gadgets and rooftop gardens with a giant robot. Dont miss the huge plush cat bus play area with an adult version.

Entertainment & Activities

  • Monkey Park is located about one hour outside of Tokyo in the countryside by Mt Takao. The monkeys roam freely and are lots of fun to watch. There is also a wonderful garden with flowers and plants to stroll through. Take the chair lift or cable car up the mountain and go for a hike on one of the trails with the kids.
  • Yoyogi Park is the place to head to on Sundays especially if you are visiting with teenagers. There is lots to see at this park from people practicing tai chi, dancing and sword fighting. Check out the locals dressed from the 50`s with slick back hair and poodle skirts. Great people watching here. Exit at Harajuku station.
  • Ueno Zoo is another one of the interesting Toyko attractions for kids. There is a large selection of animals from around the world and several native Japanese animals such as macaques, black bears and cranes. There is a children`s petting zoo and a beautiful pagoda on site. Your kids will love seeing Xian Nu and Bi Li, the two Giant Pandas! Located in Ueno Park.

Stayed for 5 days at Hotel Mets. I found it excellent. The hotel is run by JR Japan Rail and therefore the chain is located near the railway stations. Many good restaurants and cafes close by. Staff spoke English, very polite and courteous. Internet was fat and reliable The hotels has no frills and good value Only complaint was lack of good vegetarian breakfast so had to eat out , but this was not a problem for me. They do have superb coffee and toast

The location is very convenient with easy access to the train station. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. There are many restaurants within the vicinity. The room is not that big but didn't had any issues (noise or or other inconvenience) during my stay.

I have stayed in the hotel for one week during my business trip. The room was not big but very nicely furnished and clean. Room service is excellent - they even change your bathrobe every day. The breakfast is not that much various but you always can find something too eat. There are a lot of places to eat and several huge supermarkets so you will not stay hungry. There is no view from the room but it is always quietly. The train station is just around the corner - you don't even need to go to t... Read more

I stayed here for ten days while visiting the local university. The rooms had everything you would expect in a business hotel, with excellent wifi. A well stocked bathroom with good quality toiletries including new toothbrush and toothpaste every day. The transport links were excellent - the hotel is adjacent to the train station. Breakfast is provided and is very similar every day, but the food is good. No bar or restaurant for the evenings though, but there are many decent bars and restauran... Read more

We visited our Son and his family in Kokubunji. The Mets has the Best location attached to train station and all the shops and groceries and Bakeries! Yum! Newly renovated rooms are clean, quiet, and compact. Comfortable beds. Free WiFi worked well. Breakfast was nice. Japanese style or Western, interesting combinations with juice, coffee or green tea.
