Visited with 3 persons, Two adults and one adult child. Paid for a premium room with breakfast. The room would be fine without 3 ppl. Had all the amenities and nice clean setup. There was literally no place to move (saw a review that woman floor had ample room, we did not!) but the actual amenities and setup was very nice. Bathroom clean and crisp. No room to put stuff and limited storage. Great location for doing all we needed. The french bakery and restaurant next door was nice to have. We ha... Read more

Very conveniently located in the centre of town, the hotel is very modern and comfortable but lacking in charm and character. Service is very good, as is so often the case in Japan, but left feeling disappointed. With a few tweaks here and there, the hotel could improve significantly. Breakfast could be much better, for example, and the rooms given a bit more personality.

I can't think of anything more creative as the title, The Royal Park is well situated near the river and the main city square, handy for shopping the the nearby covered areas or a short walk from Gion. The room was a comfortable compact Japanese style, with view over rooftops to the wooded hills beyond the city. It had everything we needed. The breakfast bar was very good, with a choice of Western and Japanese food. We ate well here. We did eat once in the evening, and were a little disappoin... Read more

This hotel is well located in Kyoto and has nice rooms. However the staff at the hotel was very cold and even rude, which we experienced several times during our staff. During our stay we had to cancel a restaurant reservation (due to being sick) and the hotel manager told us that since they had to cancel a reservation for us they would not make another reservation during our stay. Not only did they make us feel bad, but they made us feel like we were a problem for them. Additionally, we visite... Read more

This was a great spot to start a Kyoto journey. It was a simple bus ride from the train station (ask at information office for the bus number), and close to all the buses you need for the usual tourist fare. An information office is just around the corner. It's right next to the Ponto Cho and a simple walk to the Giza. You are close to the river and there are AMAZINGLY long shopping arcades criss-crossing within a block. You can walk to the Imperial Castle, Nijo Castle and the International Mang... Read more

Excellent hotel, centrally located with polite, courteous staff. The rooms are well appointed although the one I stayed in lacked storage space for clothes. The breakfast is varied and plentiful and will set you up nicely for a full days sight seeing.

One thing that impressed me most about this hotel is the utmost individual attention the staff give you if you need anything. We only stayed there for three days and the manager remembered my name when I approached him. I think that's impressive for a hotel that have hundreds of clients going in and out everyday.

I stayed in a single room for 7 nights. I arrived from Tokyo at Kyoto station, and got a taxi to the hotel - it is much cheaper, and fairly straightforward, to get to the hotel using the subway (one change required), but I think taxi is the best option if you don't know Kyoto. Check in was excellent, and the room spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to the river, which has paths on either side ideal for running - the hotel has laundromat facilities which are cheap and very conveni... Read more

My family stayed at the Royal Park Hotel The Kyoto for 3 night 2 weeks ago and had a good time. the rooms are very small but in Tokyo the hotels are even smaller. The bathroom was very nice with a separate tub and shower. And the shower was the hardest spraying shower I had ever felt. It was great ! Everything was very clean, and even though the beds felt hard they were very comfortable to sleep on. There's a convenience store a few steps away, a bakery right next door, and plenty of restaurants... Read more

The whole experience at the Royal Park was very pleasant. It is in a great location for any adventure. There are restaurants and shops in every direction. The hotel lobby is set back from the street and is a subdued haven from the bustle of the city. The staff was friendly and helpful and were quick to offer suggestions. The room was a bit small for two people but clean and comfortable. There were no drawers to put clothes but there were a few hangers in a recessed area of the wall in which to h... Read more

Overall a pretty good location. Near a couple of bus stops and about a 10 minute walk from one train station, and maybe a 15 minute walk to Gion. The hotel has relatively large rooms (for Japan), is very clean with contemporary decor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend!

The hotel is amazing. Such great location and amazing value, clean rooms and super helpful staff. The only thing I did not like about this place, is how thin the walls are. When I stood in the hallway one night, I could hear a couple having intercourse from the other end.

My wife and I spent two nights here and enjoyed our stay. It's got a convenient location for walking to or taking buses to places of interest. Prices very reasonable. There's a great restaurant a few doors down taht has a samurai theme which had outstanding sashimi!

A hotel with a contemporary feel and well located for strolling and taking public transport. A helpful staff and the benefit of a laundry, a bar, and am excellent patisserie in the same building. The restaurant served a good breakfast and turned into an adequate if not especially exciting dinner option. Of course, this being Japan, even our premium room had no cupboards or shelves to empty a suitcase and store clothes: we'd have happily traded in all those numerous little hotel extras kindly pro...
