The Kyoto Tokyu is a very nice, standard Japanese business hotel. The rooms are on the small side but well appointed. The lobby is gorgeous. However, the minute we walked into our room I smelled the remnants of cigarette smoke. I called the front desk and checked that we were in a non-smoking room and they said we were. When I said I still smelled smoke all they did was send up some deodoriser, which helped a little but not enough. I was very disappointed that they did not relocate us to a room... Read more

Lovely room and bathroom with great views of the city. The free shuttle bus to and from the station was very useful. Well prepared varied breakfast and helpful English speaking reception staff. Wifi was good and consistently strong and reliable. Would stay again.

very nice hotel. Professional courteous staff. Very clean. Once again, very very hard beds, even with the special mattresses they advertise. I also smelled cigarette smoke in my room. However, we had been warned ahead of time, that Japanese smoke a lot, and that in general rooms are for smokers. Non smoking rooms few and far between per our tour leader. Our room was very tiny. We had to turn sideways for my roommate to pass. To walk between beds, you had to walk sideways. This was... Read more

We'll aged large hotel close to temple. Nice room, breakfast in all day dining room. Very large lobby area with plenty of staff. Hotel dining likely to be expensive, but Royal Host restaurant opposite provided affordable reasonable dining. Booked as part of SAGA holiday

A pleasant hotel with the lobby down one floor. We found the room we stayed in rather warm. Well situated just a 20 minute walk to town although the hotel does operate a shuttle bus from the hotel to the station. Shops are just across the road from the station. The 100Yen shops are a must!! If you miss McDonalds there is one here with a "Pick and Point" menu.

Kyoto , is the former capital of Japan. This is a nice, clean hotel with spacious rooms. This is an international hotel. There are a few restaurants within the hotel. I stayed here for one night. As usual, the room and bathroom were clean. I had read many reviews of cigarette smoke smells in rooms, well there were no smell of cigarettes in this room. Still getting used to heated toilet seats.

we checked in this hotel on 29 May 2016 as a group tour with M/s kesari Tours, Mumbai. We checked out on 30 May 2016. Rooms are spacious but furniture is not properly planned and very little space for keeping luggage. No proper lights in entry passage and in cupboard it is all dark. Suggest to put in some illumination. Room amenities are fine but no packaged drinking water bottles provided in the room.

We stayed one night as part of a large tour group. Our room was clean, looked new and was spacious for Japan. Wifi access was great. Breakfast was included - lots of variety and very good quality. The room was well laid out and large enough to cope with a lot of people at once. They had a bean to cup coffee machine which please me! Two minor niggles - it's at least a 45 min walk to the centre of Kyoto from the hotel and they don't have stairs for guests. We had to meet our large group at 9am - t... Read more

He's always got a smile (We also used their bag forwarding service) the rooms were always super clean. We also had breakfast at their buffet. A mix of Japanese and American food. There's isn't much placed to eat near by. I recommend to use the shuttle to take you back to the train station where there's hundreds of options. Onl... Read more

We spent four nights at the Kyoto Tokyu Hotel, and enjoyed our stay. The lobby and public areas are VERY attractive and spacious; much nicer than we expected given the mid-range pricing. We also liked the way they had a separate lobby for tour groups, which made the regular lobby much less frenetic. The room was very nice; large by Japanese hotel standards and every comfortable. Staff was helpful almost to a fault; we prefer to take our own bags from checkin desk to our room but the be... Read more

The hotel location was not far from the train station. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room however was dated and small. The bathroom was small and had a step up which I thought would be dangerous. We actually left the light on in the bathroom so we wouldn't forget if we had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. The concierge was very helpful. She helped us locate a driver that gave us a private tour of some of the highlights of Kyoto.

The lobby is built around an atrium with a pond and waterfall, beautiful both day and night. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and the service impeccable--except in the dining room. While the included breakfast offered a good selection of appealing food, the layout of the dining area made it slow and frustrating to get anything. Some items were on one room, some in another. The two rooms were connected by a passageway that was always blocked by many guests trying to get lattes from ... Read more

I stayed here in June and I was amazed! The service was outstanding, nothing was too hard, the food was excellent. The bar is one of the best I have ever gone to, the pizza and the green cocktail with the gold outside was BEAUTIFUL!!!! Beware though, the hotel became somewhat of a crutch because we enjoyed it so much!

Free wifi is available in the rooms and is pretty fast also. There is a shuttle bus service to Kyoto station which is very useful. Although the hotel is just a 5 minute taxi drive from Kyoto Station, it has no public transportation othee than taxi in the surroundings. It takes you 30 minutes walking to get to a metro or train station. No many restaurantes in the neighbourhood too. The rooms are small and with few space to store your bags. On the other hand, the hotel staff is very friendly.

Our stay at the Tokyu Hotel was very relaxing. The hotel is very quiet and the rooms well appointed albeit a little tight for space as is the norm with Japanese hotels. The hotel is not close to the city or station but the hotel does offer a free shuttle to the station running every 20 minutes. There is also buses available outside the hotel which will take you downtown. The entry to this hotel is attractive and the wandering water feature visible from the lobby is beautiful. Staff is helpful and location can't be beat. Unfortunately, even though I have gotten used to the plastic aesthetic of many Japanese bathrooms, this is one that tainted the stay. It's like an airplane bathroom (plastic and aluminum/steel) with a very musty smell. I visited a couple of other rooms where members of our group stayed, and not all had the strong mildew but two of three did. ... Read more

The lobby, staff, gift shop, bathtub, and food are great, but that's not why you choose a hotel. The rooms are small & cramped. The beds are hard and you can't adjust the air conditioning below 75 F/24 C. The bathroom is tiny and you step up into it which is a nightly hazard. Storage is barely adequate, but awkwardly placed and the chairs are completely uncomfortable. Location very good which opens up plenty of options to go out and eat and to shop. The hotel is only five minutes from Kyoto station with a lot going on , the rooms are very modern, clean and tidy. three restaurants with a bar and fitness gym. Smaller rooms , even though our was considered premium. So our three suit cases were in the way. Staying for five nights was a bit annoying for the space limitations. Liked the fact that the bathroom had enough supplies of toiletries, liked the tooth brushes with mini toothpaste, hair brushes, and shower loofahs. Small bathroom but did the job. We visited Japan on a tour recently and this was our final hotel. Having stayed at several other hotels in this chain, we found this to be the most 'luxurious'.
