Stayed in this hotel for 6 nights. Our travel agent chose it for us and it was a great choice for it's location. The rooms are small, yes! But which modern hotel in Japan does not have small rooms! We stayed a several other (modern) hotels duting our stay in Japan and all have small rooms. Just be aware of it and don't bring loads of luggages! The staff spoken correct english and is friendly. The hotel is at walking distance from center town and old town. Busses are running just in fron... Read more

Okay the room is somewhat small ?? and if you have tons of luggage, you would struggle. Bathroom perfect on the other hand. The location is satisfactory and within reasonably walking distance to the city centre (approx. 10-15 min walk). No need to worry about breakfast as plenty of coffee shops/cafes in vicinity of the hotel. I would not hesitate to revisit this hotel.

The room is pretty clean, modern, fully equip, lots of variety for toiletries, comfortable bed but it is a very small room. If you are American/Australian size, you will find the room is very small for 2 people. There is not enough space to open 2 luggage. The location is pretty good, very close to Karasuma train station, where the interstate train will stop (so if you want to take train to or from Osaka, the train will stop in this station). The location is not in the middle of busy buzzing ... Read more

This was a great hotel with basic amenities, but the rooms (although small) were very new and very modern. The lobby and entrance were also very charming and modern. Great service all around and very close (walking distance) to the Nishiki market and central shopping area. Would def stay again. They even let us leave our luggage in the lobby (monitored) after we checked out, which was very convenient and helpful.

The standard room, whilst modern, is compact with little space for luggage. Clean bathroom with normal amenities. Good Downtown location, 8-minute walk to the Shijo underground station (take exit 26 or 25) which is only 2 stops north of Kyoto Central Station. Major shopping malls Takashimaya & Daimaru are within 10 -15 minutes walk, Nishiki Market 10 minutes, Maruyama Park & Gion about 20 minutes by foot. Many eateries around Nishiki Mkt area & on Shijo Dori. During peak cherry blossom time in e... Read more

This hotel is under rated. Excellent quality rooms. Good bathroom. Excellent wifi. Bed is a bit small. Sound proofed from other rooms. Reception staff actually spoke some english and were very helpful. Excellent in fact. You can also buy the 500 yen daily bus pass at the front desk.- Nice service. One tip about Kyoto- the price of rooms skyrockets over the weekends. We paid 27000 yen for 2 nights wednesday and thursday. I wanted to book another 2 nights because we thought the hotel was go... This hotel located exactly on the street where you can walk just on the same side towards the Shijo-Dori and enjoy many interesting places along the street, until the end of the junction that nearby the river and Shijo-bridge. Half-way walking, you will see the Tera-machi on the opposite road where many Japanese souvenirs' shops are there. The room though small but complete with most of the things necessary even for a long period of stay. They don't have a restaurant inside but the hotel attach... Read more

Close to downtown Kyoto and accessible by both trains and buses, this was a great location to stay in Kyoto. There are many excellent restaurants around and to Kyoto station was a short bus ride. The room itself was very small, but clean and nice enough. It's pretty no frills, but for the price you pay, its very decent. The bathtub leaks a bit because its so small that inevitably water comes out but other than that, no complaints. They give free tea and coffee too, which I thought was a nice to... Read more

Affordable yet fully furnish! U got almost everything u need in the room (even some that we never think of!). Staff is very professional and friendly. All is very good despite the room is quite low in height. Strongly recommend this hotel as it is close to subway and bus stop station.

The hotel is located in Downtown Kyoto and 5min walk from Shijo Karasuma station. You can get around in Kyoto very well from this location. Price is reasonable, however rooms are very small. Staff is friendly but some do not speak any english. Cleaning is average, don't expect to much. All in all it's a fair option and allows spontanous bookings due to its big size (usually Kyoto hotels are fully booked)..

The hotel is in one of the main vias in Kyoto, very good communicated by subway or bus. From Kyoto station is just 2 stops and it's the gate is near that the Shijo Karasuma street (lLake Shijo Karasuma) or something like that), in front of the Matsui Building , then turn to your left and it's a round 2 or three blocks. I loved the place, the hotel is so tidy and well decorate ... but be careful because the rooms like almost all Japan are small, really small. In my case was complete perfect and ... Read more

great location in Kyoto, walking distance from tube/busses etc. Hotel staff really friendly and let us leave our bags without a charge pre check-in. Rooms nice, clean and free wifi. We even used the laundrette service which was simple enough and cheap to do. Highly recommended

The entrance is around the side, not on the main road like you might expect. There also is a nice laundry facility that is very heavily used. Good room and good location. Hotels are hard to find in Kyoto and I'd go back here again ...

We stayed in four different hotels during our stay in Japan and this was definitely the nicest of the four. The rooms were clean and modern and had large and comfortable beds. Friendly staff. The wifi was slow, especially during the night.

Two stops north ( metro) of Kyoto train station.. Exit by north exit and turn left , walk ten mins ... Double room really small, had to live out of suitcase because no drawers or shelves ( six hangers ) Good position for shops ( same street loads of department stores etc) Across from decent restaurant and two mins from 7/11 where you can use cash machine . Turn right out of hotel and walk 15-20 mins for street with normal style bars , zizi bar is quiet decent , young locals and ex-pats 600 f... Read more

The location is ideal, near the subway and not far from the old district 'Ghion' Finding the hotel was not easy though, I had to ask for directions The room was small, but well organized. Overall a good stay, except the breakfast. Breakfast is not provided by the hotel, which is ok if you're a tourist, but not for business. There is a coffeeshop in front of hotel, but it doesnt have asian style breakfast (e.g. rice porridge, vegetables) .Instead, it only proposes a western style set menu, sandwi... Read more

Rooms are small but it is a general behaviour in Japan. The Hotel is very well situated in Kyoto most busy area. Each time i've been travelling to Kyoto (5 times) I have stayed in this hotel. It is not very expensive also which is a good thing for leisure travellers. the service I've been given was good each time. Bus stop is at the door lots of restaurants and shops in the area.

The rooms are quite small but well set out and very clean. The hotel is very well placed, near the subway and many buses. The receptionists were not able to help us when we asked for information as we couldn't understand each other.

The hotel is very clean and equipped with almost everything a traveller needs. It is also within a few minutes walk from the bus and subway stations. Kyoto's major shopping malls are on the same street, but it would take around 15 minutes on foot. The only downside I can think of was the lack of eating space. Despite the expensive price, the hotel does not serve breakfast. You may find something to eat the Tully's coffee, which is on the ground floor, or 7-ELEVEN across the street.

The room was small (expected for Kyoto), clean, and reasonably priced. My issue is with the service. Checking out in a rush, I left my wedding ring on the desk. After realizing this, I had called later in the day and was told there was nothing the hotel could do, as another guest had checked in. I told them I had left it on the desk (the room is tiny--you can't miss it), but the hotel's response was that since no one reported it, it must not be there. My best guess is that the hotel staff e... Read more

My partner and I stayed in hotel unizo during our travels in Japan. We had such a fantastic experience here, the rooms were immaculate and large by Japanese standards and the staff spoke perfect English, were very friendly and accommodating. The location of the hotel is ideal for walking to local bars and restaurants and is well situated for visiting kyoto's famous temples and shrines. We will definitely be staying here again!

it's very close to bus stop and Karasuma (hankyu line) and Shijo station, exit 25 Karasuma station on the hankyu line, then turn left, go straight and you will find the hotel on your left side (just few blocks), or u can go bus 26 from kyoto station, get off at Shijo Karasuma bus stop. I took a taxi to Kyoto station from this hotel and it was just 850¥, i think it's a good fare for travellers with big luggage.
