Arrived at the hotel once we got our bearings coming out the subway station, thanks to a parking assistant. Our room was ready and our luggage had arrived from Takayama, sent on two days earlier. Our room was Rm 507. Small room but all the necessary requirements for a comfortable stay. King size bed, TV (no English speaking channels that I could find), fridge, hairdryer, nightshirt & slippers, tea/coffee making facilities, chair & small table. One side of the bed was pushed against the wall whic... Read more

- Great location! The hotel was close to the major shopping district and within walking distance to everything you really need including ATMs, shops, buses etc - Reception always had staff that could speak English. This wasn't always the case in some other hotels I stayed in. I needed a doctor after 4 days of traveler's diarrhea and they refered me to an English speaking doctor in a clinic right behind the hotel which was not busy and only cost me around AU$50. A pharmacy was also close by w... Read more

Loved this hotel, everything about it was excellent for our needs EXCEPT ... there are no opening windows in the room in fact the window is covered by rice paper blind that does not open. I would probably stay here again because everything else was great, but the lack of fresh air and view out did bother me. The staff at front desk where excellent.

Hotel is located in an alley off the main road of Kawaramachi Dori. I loved that we could walk out at 10 and have traditional food and burgers. There is a very convenient bus to the main train station as well as to other attractions around kyoto. We had a two twin bed corner room and found it very spacious. There was room for our luggage to be set out along the wall as well a decent sized bathroom for Japan. If you get a chance, ask for a corner room because it comes with a extra hallway on the ... To our trip to Japan, this hotel which is about 15 min taxi ride is well worth the stay. The reviews are spot on so no need to repeat. Let me state what I notice. 1- no safe in the room, 2- windows are covered with the Japanese paper so you can't see what's outside but still allowing light. 3. Bathroom has little shelf space to put amenities we often bring... Makeup. Shaving cream, etc. 4. Air conditioning worked well. 5. Excellent customer service. Biggest con: was the laundry room on 6th f... Read more

Location: Off the main shopping street but very handy to shops, a plethora of nearby restaurants, Nishiki Market, buses etc. Either a cab (Yen 1400 approx) or bus ride to the JR station , or a 10 to 15 minute walk to separate subway lines. A little hard to find as it is located in a small side street. This is a relatively small hotel so is not favoured by tour groups, which is good news for independent travellers! Check-in: Very efficient, helpful and pleasant staff with a good command of Englis... Read more

We stayed here during a 3-day trip to Kyoto. The location feels very good, close to all types of shops and restaurants, as well as a to-die-for creme brulee donut across the street. The hotel was still quiet inside, though the room was small, barely room to walk around the bed. Still very comfortable and clean!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto who wants a good base to explore. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to restaurants, shops and transport. The rooms are clean with comfortable beds and are of a respectable size.

As per title it is a clean and friendly hotel with average sized rooms. Breakfast is good with a good choice. Excellent location for everything from food, shopping etc. Lacks a close subway station is the only downfall but there is a station within in walking distance.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in early July . Our 2 double rooms are a bit small by American standard but sufficient for our family. Very good and thorough housekeeping services and hotel staff speak English rather well had made our stay more pleasant than we anticipated. One thing I can not emphasize enough is the fantastic location of this hotel. Good eats are next door with many varieties such as ramen, sushi, katsu, udon, Yakitori, ec. Shopping is within minutes . Sanjo station , Gion... Read more

We stayed here for four nights while exploring Kyoto and beyond. The hotel is conveniently located just off of the main street (Kawaramachi-dori) and was super easy to find. The front desk staff was friendly and pleasant. They were able to speak good English, always greeted us as we were coming or going, and recommended some yummy ramen spots. Being off the main street, this hotel is QUIET! We were on the fourth floor and never really heard outside noises or traffic. Our room was a standard dou... Read more
