At risk of repeating others' observations, the Granvia couldn't have been more convenient for anyone who like me planned to use the JR pass and subway frequently. It's a big hotel but not impersonal.. interaction with all from bell hops to concierge were never less than helpful or friendly. I only ate breakfasts there which had a good spread. On just one day (Saturday) was it busy enough to have to wait for a table. For other meals, I found Porta Dining ( the underground mall connected to the... Read more

Picked this hotel for convenience to railway station and wasn't disappointed. hotel facilities were excellent and staff were so helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was a mix of western/Japanese and was great. room was large and bed comfortable and very clean. bed linen and towels were soft and clean.we stayed on the south side which does have very long corridors and is a bit of a walk back if you forget something and have to return to your room.cocktail bar on the 15th floor is reasonably price... Hotel Granvia was an ideal location for our group of nine travelling by the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto and then onward to Osaka. We had lots of luggage and with the hotel located on the main JR Station it meant we didn't have to cart or organise all this luggage from the station to a hotel located elsewhere. Straight from the train with a short walk to the hotel. The station had a big Isetan shopping centre with many restaurants on top. There is also a number of shops and restaurants cl... Read more

I really wanted to give the Hotel Granvia Kyoto an 'excellent' overall rating. That's what I would have given it had I been reviewing my stay there a few years ago. Like last time, the Concierge service was truly indispensable for the help in booking a kaiseki meal at a 3-star Michelin restaurant. This time we were there the first week of January and the New Year holiday meant that the Concierge really had to look hard for a restaurant that had availability. There were many back-and-forth email... Read more

Great location to stay. If you are travelling from other places to here, the hotel is just on top of the train station. Very convenient with many other shops and stores all near by. the bus station is also just beside the hotel. Except for the corridor is very long, as each floor has many rooms.

We've stayed in this hotel many times. It is in the perfect location for easy access to train, subway, buses and taxis in Kyoto. Although right in the station it has a wonderful quiet and relaxing lobby. Rooms are well appointed and relatively spacious. For friends going to Kyoto, I always recommend this hotel.

This hotel was had great facilities, clean, efficient staff and so central for shops and even some temples. Several shrines were within walking distance. Also it meant we really had so many choices for restaurants and all fast food.

Location location location and this is a great one. Second time coming to Kyoto. First stay was new miyako. This time we felt the room was much better all around. Plus the walk to the buses is so close maybe 80meters from the lobby to the first buses. Taxis are closer but with the bus pass (cant beat the price). Breakfast was good/great. Dinner was good/ok, both were buffet style at Le Temps inside the hotel.

A great hotel and location for a base in Kyoto, it has to be seen to be believed. Only in town for a 3 nights, it was the ideal spot, slap bang in the middle of town, above Kyoto station, which is a hub for numerous lines snaking out to the various temples and sights. Shopping and restaurants are on your door step, with the historic Gion and Nishiki market a short walk away. The hotel is huge, 15 floor, 10+ restaurants, a sky bar, a snug bar and all the facilities your expect of a 4* Finding it ... Read more

Selected this hotel because of its location for access to trains, bus and taxis; and room style and it delivered. The hotel is really part of the railway station which in itself is a piece of dynamic architectural work worth traveling to see and experience. The hotel is huge but in the 4 days I stayed and it was full, it never felt crowded and certainly was not noisy. I did not have the breakfast package, preferring to eat in any of the many, many restaurants etc. within the station complex o... Read more
