Good location surrounded by parkland at the end of the Karasuma Metro line. Very large hotel, nice spacious rooms. No gym or pool however. Breakfast can be a bit of a scrum, with a wait for a table. Irritatingly most of the restaurant was reserved for a coach tour party on one of the days, which meant quite a long wait. For a hotel of this size, so close to a big congress venue, there is only one, fairly small bar.

Unusually for Japan this hotel has large bedrooms, but that is probably because it is not in the centre of Kyoto. IN fact it is on the end of one of the tube lines and next to Kyoto conference centre, where the Kyoto climate change agreement was signed. Clean, helpful staff, a good night's sleep.

Large hotel with many rooms. The hotel is built as a circular with garden in the center. The view it is very beautiful. The hotel is little out of town but is really ideal for groups. The room was comfortable. There was all the necessary accessories for a pleasant stay. Smokers have a special smoking room. Breakfast and dinner were very tasty. We loved the hotel.

It is a hotel located in the north of the city, good for congresses. It is located in a green surrounding area with a beautiful pond full with koi carps. The rooms are quite big for japan standards and the restaurant a good surprise with lots of dishes Japanese and Occidental ones. It has the subway near to the center but it closes at 23h. Recommended for a short rested stay.

This hotel is the perfect place to stay for all convention goers. It is conveniently placed adjacent to the convention center and the train. I would not recommend it for visitors solely visiting the city for sight seeing. The property is not located in the "action". The great thing is its accessibility to the train station to get around the city with ease. The hotel staff we very accommodating and the grounds were lovely.

The hotel isn't perfect, but it's by far the best we've found in Kyoto. What we like: Location: Surrounded by green. It's a round hotel and so every room looks out on greenery. A 5-minute walk takes you to the Takaragaike Pond, great for early morning walks. It's across the street to the entry to a corridor to the northern terminus of the subway that runs straight to Kyoto Station. A 5-minute walk takes you to the bus station. Absolutely relaxing for a city hotel but with good transportation. A... Read more

Just finishing my 3 night stay at the Grand Prince hotel and have found it to be very pleasant. The staff is courteous and speaks English very well. The breakfast has a variety of western and Japanese offerings. There's a park located across the street near the congress center which has jogging paths around a small lake. What I like most is the quiet, spacious room, very unusual for hotels in Japan. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were courteous and helpful. There are vending machines on some floors. The breakfast buffet was good. My experience was very positive.

Resembling a giant doughnut or the hadron collider, the Grand Prince is in a delightful semi-rural setting next door to the Kyoto conference centre. Probably built in the eighties it has worn well and has a good team of staff that are, as you would expect in Japan, extremely accommodating and helpful. Arriving tired and before the allocated check in time they did manage to bend the rules and give me a much needed and well-appointed and spacious room. The bathroom was separate to the basin ar... I stayed here recently for a conference held at the International Conference Center. The hotel is very convenient for such conferences. The rooms are large and well-appointed and the internet works well. The hotel is quite far out of the city - but at the end of the Karasuma line, making accessing the subway relatively easy. But the hotel is far from most of the sites one might want to see in the city. Nonetheless, Kyoto has a good transportation system made up of subway lines, buses and trains.... Read more

Stayed here for a weekend and to be honest the hotel was clean, the rooms were spacious and the staff polite and friendly. The downside is that this hotel is ideally located for the convention centre and residents are limited to the hotel restaurants. For variety and value for money take the metro for two stops and enjoy local restaurants. For the price and location, I would not stay here again.

The large window look out over lots of trees that make it very tranquil. The room was large, the shower was powerful, and the air conditioning worked well. The staff was helpful. Very convinent to the subway and convention center.

Great Old School Hotel. But they know what to do! Sealy beds, Instant cup coffee, Seperated Makeup desk(Royal floor) Are Just like Mini-Suite room. Minus Factor: 1. Souvenior shops at the lobby reminds me of Muongthanh Chains in Vietnam. 2. Bathroom of Royalfloor(Remodeled) Are not Quite Up to date. (I Mean If you only change Shower head to Grohe, than thats not remodeling) 3. If you Accept to much Package tourlist, Than this one dose not consider Highend Hotel.

The hotel is very easy to find using the K line metro from kyoto station and exiting at K01 where the hotel is across the street from the conference centre. The rooms are the biggest I have seen in my three weeks in Japan, and very clean, the free wifi was good enough for emails and netflix. The restaurant however, was extremely overpriced and the quality of the food was poor (the selection for breakfast was extensive though). We arrived quite late and were hungry, but the restaurant was already... Read more

The hotel is situated away from town. Near conference centre. Less then 5 minutes walk. Surrounded by the lots of greenery and mountains. Very peaceful location. The tube station is very near that takes you straight in to the town. The rooms on Royal floor are better. In general rooms are specious but some of the floors have a bit run down rooms and smells of smoke. The higher the floors better the view. Staffs are very nice but very few can speak English. In general it's a nice hotel if you... Read more

Hotel management should provide water bottles none were provided had to buy other hotel like Westin Miyako gave free water to every one. Also there was no courtesy bus provided to take us either to Kyoto station or to nearest subway no help or assistance to catch early subway had to walk to subway with our luggage not ideal. Hotel is excellent no issues at all love the place and people are so friendly . Thanks you to all. Love Kyoto and will visit again. ARIGATOU - SAYONARA!!!!!!

The hotel is away from Kyoto but a short 20 minute train ride. The small area surrounding it is pleasant and one has the feel of close to Kyoto but not in the center. It is filled with gracious people as is typical of Japan. Going to the supermarket close by is an experience not to be missed.

We were there for a week at a conference and this hotel was perfect for that. The rooms are spacious with a sitting area at the windows looking out on greenery. Beds were great; bathroom large; plenty of cupboard and drawer space. Daily waters in the room would have been nice in the 90 degree heat. Only nearby restaurants were quite far to walk, like 15-20 minutes so we ate in the very expensive hotel eateries more than we liked. Subway entrance is nearby, though the actual subway stop is a... I cant tell you how peaceful and relaxing it is to stay in this beautiful hotel. I enjoy the scenary of the trees from my hotel window. I feel like living in the middle of a well maintained garden. The hotel is within walking distances to the subway station and other convenience shops.

This hotel is most apt for people visiting kyoto for the ICC. The ICC is right opposite the hotel but due to the huge size of the hotel, it is apprx 15 min walk. The metro station is at a stone's throw and it is a 20 min metro ride to the Kyoto railway station. Opt for twin beds as they are huge. Pros: Rooms are huge. Toiletries are awesome. They have a check in counter at the kyoto railway station which is very useful. You can drop your luggage at the kyoto station and can go to the hotel with... Read more
