The hotel was well preserved with hundreds of years history. It is located just next to Express bus stop. We very much enjoyed their 8 courses kobe beef dinner. We stayed there for one night, cost me about S$700 for both accommodation and dinner, but it's worth every penny.

We came from Osaka for a one night stay and wished that we had the time for another night. The ryokan is very charming and offers an authentic experience. The hot spring is rich in sulphur and for some reason leaves the skin soft after the bath. We opted for tajima and Kobe beef for dinner and it turns out to be pretty good. Do visit the library for coffee and the bar as they are both very beautiful. A good place to catch up on your rest after a long trip in Osaka / Kyoto.

Just visited this ryokan for the first time last week. The location is very convenient in arima onsen area, easy access to other restaurants and convenience store. The staff were also very nice. One of the staff led us to our room, helped us to carry our luggages, and introduced the ryokan in details after we went into our room. Welcome tea was also well prepared. The onsen is in nice quality, with nice scenic view and very quiet too. There was also a spa tub in the onsen area. We also enjoyed... Read more

The Arima-Onsen area is a fantastic little village tucked into the mountains behind Kobe on a hillside - enough walking, looking, shopping, and eating to spend 1 day. Check to make sure you visit on a day when all the shops are open. The hot spring inn, Tocen Goshoboh, is historic, traditional, elegant, provides great service, and serves superb meals. You can easily walk a few minutes up a slight grade from the village train and bus stations to the ryokan, or a ride can be arranged in a black ca... Read more

It was the most expensive stay during our trip in Japan and the first onsen we ever visited. It is difficult to comment on whether it was worth the price but we really enjoy staying there. We were coming from Tokyo and booked a taxi from Shin-Kobe through the ryokan itself and it was very convenient. As we were staying there for only one night we arranged our main luggage going from Tokyo to Kyoto, our next destination and longer stay. Travelling light was great. The service at Tocen Goshoboh wa... Read more

We chose to stay here because of its history. Service is good, but because it is popular, reception staff can be quite busy at any time of the day. There always seemed to be guests, lots of them including babies and children, arriving and leaving whenever we were at reception. You are unlikely to be alone in the onsen. I recommend booking a package which allows access to the private bath, set in a pretty garden. This is an old ryokan, with lots of wood, sliding-doors, narrow corridors, steps, s... Read more

This ryokan is a minute from the highway bus station. My elderly parents and I took a highway bus from Umeda Osaka to Arima, so its convenient location is definitely one of its selling points. The services from everyone we met were flawless. The receptionist painstakingly took down each of our preferences for dinner. As my mother couldn't eat certain food, the chef specially prepared something else for her. The dinner was sumptuous and the beef was so yummy! The price paid was really worth it! A... Read more
