Fantastic location! You couldn't get a better hotel location where you have all main attractions close by. Amazing hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in a Japanese room and it had everything we needed and more. Lovely Onsen. The Info centre at the station is great: jump in a taxi to the hotel 1000yen.

I can't recommend this hotel enough. It's a delight. The rooms are large and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The concierge went to great lengths to help us book a restaurant when we discovered that the hotel's own restaurant was booked out. She phoned several places for us and even gave them instructions on what we wanted to eat. The hotel is just a short stroll from the park, the castle and the market. But most of all it has a relaxing atmospher... Read more

This hotel is within a short walking distance of Kenrokuen Garden. Very nice room, with comfortable beds and excellent linen. Lovely onsen. Good selection at the breakfast buffet, predominantly Japanese food; however there was also cereal and toast.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of April. The atmosphere of the hotel was elegant and relaxing. The service ethic of all of the staff was just amazing!! They went out of their way to try to understand my needs and even came to my room to help me at 6AM when I couldn't make the coffee machine work!! The breakfast buffet was excellent!! I really appreciated the written explanations in English of the food that was available. My room was lovely with a small view of a back garden... Read more

This hotel is located on the edge of the castle close to the garden - a very convenient location. The staff was so nice, the room was big with twin beds and a love seat. The breakfast was exceptional with plenty of choice for both Japanese and western breakfast foods. We would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood right next to Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen (garden). It's also in easy walking distance of the samurai and geisha districts. Our room was large and quiet, with comfortable beds. The Japanese breakfast was excellent, with lots of variety. We weren't there to eat a Western style breakfast so I can't speak to the choices (or lack thereof). Service upon check-in was excellent, as the kimono clad concierge escorted us to our room, described the amen... Read more

Kanazawa is a very exciting stop when you travel in Japan. This town is old and perfect to visit walking in. This hotel is in perfect location. I appreciate particolarly the ONSEN. This typical japanise thermal bath is absolutely to do. Breakfast is very good, reception kind and always near to the tourist. I recommande this hotel

This hotel is in walking distance of the castle and gardens. The lobby is a little dated/sad-looking, which is the only reason I didn't give this a 5-star review. The rooms were nice and the breakfast was very delicious. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. We only stayed here one night and the proximity to the castle and gardens were the reason we stayed here.

The room are big by Japanese standard, the bed is a bit springy, the furniture is dated (retro) in a nice way. It is well maintained. The 2 good memories of this hotel that will make me come back to are; - very helpful staff even thorough they speak only a little Engish - after a long day out touring the various Kanazawa sites, I get to come back the hotel and soaked in their in-house Onsen pool, it is most relaxing for me, before I go to sleep. - provide complementary bottled water (1.5L) for m... The hotel is right next to the castle and is a short walk to the Kenrokuen garden. The premium twin room we booked is quite larger than the other typical city hotels. The staff were helpful and very friendly. This was one of the only two hotels in our entire Japan trip where a staff showed us the room and explained all the detail we need to know. The baggages were promptly delivered. All beverages in the room were free. I really like the one bottle with sweet mineral water and soda. Onsen is gre... Read more

My wife and I have mixed feeling about this hotel. The service was warm and friendly and the rooms were clean. The hotel is also perfectly situated to many of the major tourist draw cards. Overall though, we did not have an enjoyable stay. We moved rooms due to a problem with the bathroom. We also found the layout of the hotel to be a bit like a "rabbit warren". The breakfast, although okay, was let down by the poor ventilation, so much so that we needed to air our clothes afterwards. The... Read more

This is a fabulous hotel for anyone who wants a genuinely Japanese experience in Kanazawa. The location is superb, as it is within walking distance of major tourist sites and it is easy to walk in the park to enjoy the sculpture and nature. Our room was huge by Japanese standards, with comfortable beds, and very quiet. English language newspaper was a plus, as well. Breakfast included extensive Western and Japanese options and very good coffee. (Try the egg/scallop/mushroom bake for a Japanes... Read more

This hotel for us was totally charming. For those looking for new, slick, modern it is not suitable. This hotel captures a style of travel from the past: faded elegance, civility, Japanese traditions. The onsen on site is from one of the signature hot springs in the area and a must for the adventurous. The room was clean, decent sized and attractive. The staff were beyond wonderful. The hotel is conveniently located for the major tourist highlights of Kanazawa. It is definitely a keeper and... Read more

Had a really good stay at this hotel. Great breakfast, wonderful room amenities. Only one disappointment was uncomfortable bed. Great staff and would recommend this hotel. Loved Kanazawa and great location too!

The hotel is a brief 10 minute taxi ride (1000-1200 yen) from the Kanazawa train station located in a residential area. The twin room we stayed in was very spacious compared to typical Japanese hotel rooms. The room faced the back of the hotel which overlooked an empty parking lot so at night it was very quiet, even with the window open. The onsen is pretty large with approximately 10-12 individual stations to wash yourself before soaking. They also provided various brands of shampoo, condition... Read more

My husband and I spent two nights at Hotel Sanraku. After many nights in other hotels in Japan, we welcomed the old world charm, spacious room, onsen and spa, and wonderful buffet breakfast. The location is great, right next to the castle and within walking distance of other attractions. The hotel is an older style but everything is very well kept. Our room was on the 6th floor with a beautiful view of the fall foliage. One plus was that we could open the window and after being in very moder... Read more

Moving to the other side of Japan we didn't want another Western Brand type hotel. Five minutes by taxi from the wonderful new rail station we stepped into a bit of a time warp. The reception area furniture looks dated but then again this is a Japanese hotel. We had booked a small room but after our shoe box in Tokyo we asked if they had a larger room. Staff were incredibly polite and helpful. A big room with two lounges and twin beds ... perfect. The staff spent a lot of time with us explaini... Read more
