We chose the non-Japanese room, which was very spacious and comfortable. Extremely clean with a certain Japanese style. Staff is extremely dedicated. From the moment I have informed that I had a lactose intolerance, our daily dinner menu was redesigned accordingly. Breakfast is varied not only Japanese but also western. We had a tailored menu for dinner every night. Staff was extremely pleasant and dedicated. Onsen was clean with an external area. I strongly recommend Hakone Pax

The buffet breakfast was nice. The spread was good. Location was all right, a little walking is necessary. We really appreciate the free shuttle service to Hakone-Yumoto station when we checked out the next day. We did not appreciate that they rushed us through dinner. They kept serving up the next dish when we are not even done with the previous dish yet. They were quite pushy about it. The onsen is really NOT fantastic. There is actually no real open air onsen. The staff was okay, not overly ... Read more

We had a lovely stay here. The room was the most spacious we had in Japan and very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed both the private and shared bathing areas which were lovely environments. Breakfast provided an extensive and delicious selection. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was only a short walk to the station.

This is a welcoming and authentic, modern ryokan. The rooms a spacious and modern. You have a choice of beds or futon on the tatami area. The bath is indoor-outdoor and was most welcome after a long day sightseeing. To top off our experience we dressed traditionally for a traditional Japanese dinner. Fabulous food and great service. The hotel also provides a free shuttle to the station each morning. Another part of the great service provided by Hakone Pax Yoshino.

I travel to Japan quite often, 4 to 6 times per year. Ryukan is always my favourite choice I choose to stay. Here is also. In Hakone, there are many ryukan accommodation. This hotel I am staying now is good but not great. I believe they could do better for room maintenance. I can easily that this semi ryukan+western style room was modified from a ryukan room. It is comfort - spacious. There is no WiFi in rooms. So you ll have to prepare to be disconnected if you dont have Japanese sim card .... Read more

This is a quiet onsen a 15' walk from the train station which is fine if you travel light but take a cab if you pack a lot. The breakfast buffet is excellent and if you splurge for the kaiseki dinner it's worth it. Staff was friendly and helpful. During dinner the staff roll out traditional futon for sleeping on the floor in the traditional rooms (if you choose this type). As mentioned by another traveler, there is a nice waterfall and koi pond if you turn right fr the hotel, cross the bridg... Read more

Located in the small village of Hakone. Walking distance around 20 minutes from Hakone Yumoto Train Station. There was also shuttle bus if you bring many luggages from hotel to the station. But you need to inform hotel receiptionist. Staff was friendly and helpful and good in english. There was many good small restaurants next to the hotel. The central or train station was only few minutes walking from the hotel for looking more shops and resto. Room was quite space with japanesse tatami... Read more

I stayed here for 1 night with family. The reception area is modern. but the room itself is quite dirty and has stains everywhere. The toilet is the worst. It's not clean at all and smells bad. It's even worst than a toilet in a local japanese mall. The futon is hard and we did not have a good sleep. We had dinner at the restaurant. The taste is OK but it's not traditional kind of food. Overall the service level provided by the staff is not up to standard and is not very attentive.
