If you are visiting Hiroshima stay on Miyajima island instead..there book the Jukeiso Japanese ryokan. Beautiful place halfway up the mountains. A Japanese experience through and through. Beautiful rooms, beautiful bath, beautiful food, and beautiful views... recommended without hesitation.

When visiting Miyajima, the Place where people meet gods, Jukeiso is the Place to stay. From our window we could enjoy the view of the famous shinto gate O`jima, three temples, two pagodas and much more. The island is known as one of the three most scenic spots in Japan, and we had it all before us sipping green the in the room. Our stay at Jukeiso was worth every dollar. 1. The location is perfect. It was worrisome at first as the taxi driver went off the road up a tiny path in the woods but we made it safe and sound. We had an amazing view of Miyajima from our room. There are shuttles from the Ryokan to the ferry but not that I saw from the ferry to the Ryoka... Read more

Jukeiso is an average ryokan with nice bath. It is too far too walk with luggage from the ferry terminal. Cabs are hard to come by, but you'll thank me for not walking. Also, be prepared for excessive stairs from the inn to the main shopping area.

The ryokan is run by an elderly couple, who are friendly and welcoming. It is quite a distance from the ferry terminal so make use of the shuttle service to bring you to the property especially if you have lots of luggage. The rooms and general surroundings are clean though in need of a little renovation. Our room was pretty big and had a view of the o-torii gate from the window. There is an indoor public bath available for use and it looks quite basic compared to those in other ryokans. Fo... Read more
